Can't delete project service application instance

Hi!
First, sorry for my english.
I'm trying to delete project service application instance with no luck. I tried to delete service app accordingly with this topic (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/d03219d0-9748-43ef-9c5e-b9006bcaf354/cant-delete-project-web-app-or-service-application?forum=sharepointadmin)
and i've got "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." error after calling Delete method. I tried to delete service app from central administration and also tried to create a new one, but i still got this error in both
cases.
I'm using Sharepoint 2013 SP 1 and Project Server 2013 SP 1
Any suggestions, please

Hi Konnie,
Look for any orphan PWA instances in the farm by running the below commands:
> Retrieve the List of PWA instances in the farm including the orphaned ones:
$serviceapp = get-spserviceapplication | ? {$_.TypeName -like "*Project*"}
$pwainstances = $serviceapp.Sitecollection
$pwainstances | ft name, id
> Look for the properties of the instances by running the below commands and find the one which is orphaned
$toberemoved = $pwainstances | ? {$_.Id -eq "491b0247-fb73-46ac-89ac-fd39db184995"}
$toberemoved
> Once the orphaned PWA is identified delete the orphan entry by running the below command
$toberemoved.delete()

  • Web service application instance

I am building a LV2009 web services application (main.exe + web services).  The web service VI's share globals with the main.exe.  I think that the web services run under a separate application instance, therefore using globals will not work directly.  My idea was to wrap the global calls on the web service side inside of VI server calls to main.exe.
    Here's what I was thinking:
So, to get this to work properly, I open an application reference (default port 3363) and VI reference (VI is in memory in the main.exe).  I read the global control value, close the references, and convert the control value into the correct data type.
From all that I read, I should be able to do all this within the LabVIEW development environemnt with the service deployed to the local machine. My LV has both the web server and VI server (port 3363) enabled.
I built and deployed the service VI after first disabling the VI server within the service's project (I'm not really sure that this really matters).
I run my main.exe (.vi) and attempt to call the service, but I get error 1004 (Open VI Reference - VI not in memory).
I guess my problem seems to lay around the "Open Application"...how should I open an application reference from a web services VI?
    TIA,
    James
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Even though it's on the local machine, you need to supply the machine name or IP address ("localhost" should work).  Otherwise you'll just get a connection to the local application instance (see the help), which, of course, doesn't help you communicate across instances.

  • Can't delete or retire application because of a (Non-existent) dependent Task sequence

    Hello.
I am trying to delete an outdated application from my SCCM environment.
However when i try to delete I get the warning that the application cannot be deleted because of 1 dependent task sequence.
I have been through every single task sequence and there is no reference to the application in any of them.
The application also no existing deployment types and and no deployments.
If I look in revision history for the app, it shows Revision 23 but I do not have the option to delete it.
How can I permanently delete this application from SCCM?

    Hi,
Have you tried to delete the revision history after retiring the application?

  • Unable to delete search service application

We accidentally deleted the three databases related to Sharepoint Search.  Luckily, this was done on the test server.  So now I have the search service application but no related databases.  I want to delete this search service application
and recreate it but it won't let me do it because during deletion it's looking for these databases and I get an error message that it can't find them.  Is there any way to either recreate these databases or force deletion of this Search Service application?
    thanks,

    Hi,
If you have the backups for these databases related to SharePoint Search, you can try to restore them.
If you donot, you need to use STSADM.EXE command as below to delete the corrupted search service application:
    Stsadm -o deleteconfigurationobject -id %GUID%

  • OEM12c - Can you delete a service (db, schema) as a Cloud admin and not as the user that requested it?

I configured the OEM 12c to provide DBaaS, ans Schema as a Service in a test environment.
I was able to configure all the necessary settings, created the pools, admin users and end users.
I created database and schema requests that were created successfully.
My question is, Can the Cloud admin user delete the service that any user requested Via OEM or always has to be done by the end user that created the service via the Self Service Portal?
    Thanks,
    Daniel

    Will,
The answer varies from service to service. For example, you can make simple
changes to the catalog schema by editing the wlcs-catalog.properties file.
Please refer to the documentation for more details.
    Sincerely,
    Daniel Selman

    Hello,
I've been combing through the docs, but I can't realy find a definitiveanswer
for this. If I have an existing Order, Customer, Product catalog, etc.schema,
can I integrate WL Portal 4.0 with it and not use the WLCS_* tables?
As for as I can tell, I could re-write ALL the Pipeline Components thatdeal with
data access. Is that the only way? Is that even advised?
    Thanks,

  • Can't Delete Projects

I am realtively new to Aperture (only used v.2). I thought I had a handle on organization, etc., unitl I tried to delete projects from which I have removed all of the photos. Although there are no photos in the project, I get a dialogue box saying that the project cannot be deleted until it is empty.
Stuck now with 6 or 7 "empty" projects I can't get rid of. I've un installed and re installed Aperture even. Same issue.
    Any thoughts?

Thanks, here is the message I get:
..great, can't seem to paste it.
    Text: "Delete Project Error
The following projects could not be deleted from the Aperture Library:
    xxx
The remaining managed masters in this project could not be moved to the trash or deleted immediately.
This may be because your Library is on a network volume or because the files have been modified in the finder.
The project cannot be deleted until these masters are removed."
But, for project that never held anything (and even one that did) this makes no sense to me. And Library is on Computer's hard drive, not network.
    Thanks for any ideas.

  • Can I delete NT SERVICE\SQLWriter and NT SERVICE\Winmgmt logins?

We’ve just installed our first SQL2012 instance and migrated some SQL2008 databases to it. I noticed we have 2 new logins with sa role. Can I safely delete them?
These accounts are created by default with SQL server 2012 installation. I consider them harmless.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms175536.aspx
The SQL Writer service uses the NT Service\SQLWriter login to connect to SQL Server. Using the
NT Service\SQLWriter login allows the SQL Writer process to run at a lower privilege level in an account designated as
no login, which limits vulnerability. If the SQL Writer service is disabled, then any utility which in relies on VSS snapshots, such as System Center Data Protection Manager, as well as some other 3rd-party products, would be broken, or worse,
at risk of taking backups of databases which were not consistent.
Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) must be able to connect to the Database Engine. To support this, the per-service SID of the Windows WMI provider (NT SERVICE\winmgmt) is provisioned in the Database Engine.

  • Can you delete PO (Service, Limit or Material) in SRM ECS????

We are currently using SRM 4.0 (ECS) and we appear to have problems when deleting PO's (Service, Limit, Material) with just one line item.  The PO after having the one line item deleted goes into status Error in Process.
    My questions are these:
        1.  How do you delete a PO with one line item whether it's a Service, Limit or Material?
        2.  Can a PO be deleted in SRM if there is just one line item?

You have to delete each line item of the PO in order to delete the PO. Make sure you don't make the QTY and Price fields Zero. You will receive a RZ20 error in process if you are doing this.
Please assign points if this works.
