Can't deploy - application server has ping problems 4848
hi,
i can't deploy a web cause after every try i get the following error-msg:
"started server deployer: sun: app server:: localhost: 4848: but ping failed"
but this is no wonder cause my app-server was configured from the creator-installer to run on 14848 and not on 4848!
when i start the app-srv manually (calling the "startsrv"-script) then the app-srv starts without any problems on port 14848 and i can login in the app-srv-adminweb with "http:/localhost:14848/asadmin". but the creator will always connect to port 4848!
so how can i configure the creator that he should use the port 14848? or how to configure the app-srv to run on port 4848?
thx for help
ok, i' ve completely removed and newly installed creator (inkl. deleting all directories, aso.) and ...
.... IT WORKS AND DOESN'T WORK !!!!
better said it works only if u run creator as ROOT. it's not possible to start the app-server as a normal USER!!!! if u do this u will get always the 4848-error-msg!
so i've thought it's maybe only a question of the configuration/profiles. so i've copied the /.Creator from the root-home to my user-home-directory (incl. changing the rights) but it does work. so it's a question of the rights.
what a joke!
"solution" (under linux/kde):
create on the desktop of your "normal" user-account a new program-icon with a link to "/opt/Creator/bin/runide.sh" and setup in this prog-icon the "run as" to "root". then u'll get by every start of this application the dialog for the root-password but it works.
BUT
especially SUN as an isv of unix/solaris-systems should know that it's terrible/unbelievable and what ever else to run normal apps as root! so pls, correct this so fast as poss!

Oracle Application Server On Linux Problem
Our client's application server has been live for 6 months now and currently there is an issue.
This server is a Dell 6850 running Red Hat Linux ES 3.4 (Taroon Update 5) and kernel 2.4.21-32 with 2 CPUs and 8Gb of ram. Our J2EE web application runs in Oracle Application Server and currently 5 OC4Js are up and running.
The issue we are facing is the server has frequently gone to a hang state. When this happened, we won't be able to telnet into the server but there are ping responses. So the only thing to do then would be to reboot the server.
Now I have setup nmon for linux to run 24 hours in the server taking snap shots of the server's performance every 10 minutes. From the nmon output, I could see free memory is always around 20Mb - 50 Mb and sometimes would shoot up to 1Gb and then in 3 hours back down to 20Mb - 50Mb. Is this a normal pattern for a linux server?
From the Oracle console under memory usage, I saw that around 1.5Gb is being used by the Application Server, 36Mb free and 6.5Gb used by other processes. Now, I am curious as what this other processes are and why are they using 6.5Gb.
I am not sure if this is caused by a faulty hardware, OS/kernel bug, or our web application.
What I have done:
i) monitor /var/log/messages but no suspicious error being logged not even before or during the server hang.
ii) monitor Oracle Application Sever log files but no suspicious errors logged.
iii) monitor nmon output daily
iv) searched for similar cases using Google and Oracle's Metalink but found nothing.
Thanks.As a followup ---
We believe that we have found the culprit finally based on two lucky catches during lockups. Last seven days we have been testing various combinations of centennial agent and enterprise agent running and have successfully tracked issue down to these two products not wanting to run together.
We have 32 machines with centennial running and no emctl and there has been no issues for last 18 months. The machines we have had problem with are the ones that use enterprise agent also. We disabled centennial agent on 8 machines and left it running on 6 machines that had emctl agent. We were still experiencing failures on the 6 machines but no failures on 8 machines.
We turned off centennial software on the remaining 6 and have had no lockups since. Based on this we are concluding that "emctl agent" and "centennial agent" dont play well together and so plan to discontinue using both of these together on any machines.
Did not reseach exactly why these two were causing a system panic but since these are production and vital we will live with workaround. -
JBOSS 4.0 Application Server start up problem?
1. JBOSS Application Server start up problem?
I have installed the JBOSS 4.0 application server in eclipse 3.4(Ganymede) in order to work with the adempiere open source ERP.When I start the JBOSS server,It displays the message “Server started in Xm:XXs:XXXms” in the console window. But the progress bar in server window is still running.Once the time out is over,it displays the message server cannot be started.
What should I do in order to make eclipse know that the server is started(message in console as server started) and set its status to “Started”?
2.Is it possible to copy and paste the .war created in eclipse 3.4 using JBOSS 4.0 to Glassfish v2 which requires archive file .ear form in NetBeans IDE 6.1?i also noticed when I start the server some times the first line it display in the container will be starting Microcontainer some times it diaplays microkernel? You can find out reason based on that also?
Actually I was using 8080 port for my Oracle 10g Express Edition.Even when I change the port in server view,I had same problem. In order to recover from the problem,I finally changed my database port,My Jboss 4.0 has started succesfully. When I access the JBOSS in URL http://localhost:8080/jmx-console,i got the error can you tell me what can i do?

Can a single Application Server run 2 websites?
Hi All,
Can a single Application Server run 2 websites.Do you mean two sites with different domain names (like www.somesite1.com and www.othersite2.org) ? Then I'm nor sure, all I could think of is to configure them to run on different ports and forward the domain names to the corresponding ports.
Or do you mean two web-applications ? In this case the answer is yes, of course, the URLs would be something like www.yourdomain.net/webapp1 and www.yourdomain.net/webapp2. -

BenWhat is the latency (measured via ping) between the App and SQL Server? SharePoint 2010 RTM hasn't been supported for quite some time. Upgrade to SP2 and see if it resolves the issue.

" The Sun Java Application Server 8.1 couldnt start.
More insformation about the cause is in the server log file.
Posssible reasons include
-port conflicts.(use netstat -a to detect possible port numbers
already used by the operating system.)
-Incorrect server configuration(domain.xml to be corrected manually.)
-Corrupted Deployment Application preventing the server to start.(
this can be seen in the server.log file. In this case, domain needs to
be modified).
If anyone has any clue about the problem then please help me.
Thanks

New install of SJS Ent 8 on Solaris, can't start Application Server 8.1
Hello,
Appreciate in advance your help.
Just downloaded and installed SJS 8.1 on a new Sun Solaris 10 box. I'm able to run the IDE and have started the Tomcat server, but when attempting to start the SJS 8.1 application server, I get:
The Sun Java System Application Server 8.1 could not start.
More information about the cause is in the Server log file.
Possible reasons include:
- Port conflicts. (use netstat -a to detect possible port numbers already used)
- Incorrect server configuration
- Corrupted Deployed Applications
The problems are:
- There is no server.log file in the expected directory at /opt/sun/jstudio_ent8/AppServ8.1UR2/domains/myDomain1/logs
- I ran netstat -a, but could glean no useful information
- I have not modified the server configuration since the new install
- I have not deployed my application (since I can't start the server).
Forgive my ignorance since I'm not a Solaris expert. I would greatly appreciate your assistance. No difference in server.log after setting level="FINEST".
Don't know if it would help, but the contents of my server.log file follow:

I do notice that the class path references jdk1.5.0_04. When installing SJS I selected the separately installed jdk1.5.0_07. Could that be causing the problem?

Flex on Oracle Application Server 10g - security problems
Hi,
I'm working with Flex components (swf files), I'm trying to view them in a browser and i'm facing some security problems.
The server i'm trying to run the files on is: Oracle application server 10g on Unix server.
Please help me with the server's configuration to allow running swf files on it.
In the relation of Flex, there is a file that must be on the server's root named: "crossdomain.xml". This file defines which IPs can the swf object can take/get data from. Maybe there are configurations to that file that needs to be done on the server?
Thank you,
InbalNo. Not only it isn't certified, but it is also impossible to run forms compiled with the 11g compiler with the 10g runtime. For 11g there is a install bundle for the developer suite / application server.

Sun Application Server 8 response problem
Hi forum. Id installed moths ago SJAS 8 and it woks good. By any reason, Id to uninstall it. But recently I reinstall te server, without any problem, and I can use teh "Start default server" on the Menu Start. But when I try to access the "localhost:8080", the browser stand hanged. And unusually, any browser in my system (netscape, iexplorer, opera, firefox) wont work, even to load any site when the Server is working. The option "Stop default server" dont working too. Id try install SJAS 8.0, SJAS 8.1 and SJAS 8.1 multilanguaje, but with the same results. Even Id try change the HTTP port from 8080 to 8282, but nothing happends. Any idea?
Hi, again. Other details of my installation , The server is SUn Java System Application Server Plataform Edition 8.12005Q1, my machine is an AMD Athlon 1.25Mhz, with 256Mb RAM (Yes, slow for use the server, but it ran without troubles the first time I installed), The JDK is J2SE1.5.0_5 and JRE1.5.0_05. I had read the troubleshotting guide, and the server log register that the server successful finish the start up proccess, and the file domain.xml register correctly the "http-listener" on 8080 port. When I start to search the source of trouble, I remmember that I have the Tomcat 5.5 installed and using the 8080 port, then I uninstall the Tomcat, but the problem persist with the SJAS.
