Can't embed an H.264 compliant video in an Acrobat X Pro pdf

I upgraded my Acrobat 9 Standard to Acrobat X Pro in order to embed a video into a pdf.  The movie was .mov which I converted in a .mp4 which was H.264 compliant using a program called WinFF.  The video appears in the pdf but won't play.  I tried a couple of other compliant format and no luck.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Here's the info on the mpg video before conversion:
Here's the info on the video after convertion to mp4:
Thanks for your help.

  • Embedded audio and video files with Acrobat x Pro

Can an audio or video file be embedded in a document with Acrobat x Pro & opened with Adobe Reader xi?

You can place video or sound files onto the pages of a PDF file using the Multimedia button on the Tools Pane > Content Panel. The result is called a Rich Media Annotation, and will play back on the desktop versions of Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader.
The files have to be compatible with Flash Player, so videos need to be in H.264, FLV or F4V, and audio files in MP3.

  • Can't create hyperlinks after converting a Word document with Acrobat XI Pro

    Hello,
    Here's my problem.
I'm making a catalog document for my company.
The document that I'm converting to PDF is made on Office Word 2013 and it's a .docx format file.
I'm on Windows 8 and the latest version of Adobe Acrobat XI Pro installed.
Inside my word document I have some pictures that have a hyperlink. Those hyperlinks directionate to a bookmark inside the word document. Inside the word document, if I do Ctrl+Click over the image, it will go to the page that has that bookmark. And it works. Period.
Beside that I also have some Cross-references on the word document. Those cross-references basically are the page number from the bookmark reference. By accident on most of those cross-refrences I left enabled the "Insert as hyperlink" on the cross-reference box options. When I Ctrl+Click over those cross-references I also go into the page of that cross-reference.
After I convert the word document into pdf, I can't get any hyperlink on the pictures, if I simply click on them, like if I click on a hyperlink on a webpage or something similar, the pdf won't go the the bookmark on the page that I've set on the word document.
The funny thing is that if I click on the other cross-references I can go to the page were that cross-reference is...
I tried all the methods to convert the file in order to obtain hyperlinks on the images...
I tried to use the Acrobat tab and the File -> Save as Adobe PDF, as both uses Acrobat PDFMaker, but nothing works.
Even tried all options on Acrobat PDFMaker but can't get it. "Create bookmarks", "Add links", "Convert Word Bookmarks", "...Word Styles to Bookmarks", "...Word Headings to Bookmarks", none works....
If I try to simply print from inside Word by choosing the Adobe PDF printer (like if I choose a regular printer), in the printers options it doesn't show up any hyperlink/link/bookmark option related, so that way is definitely a no go...
To reference, on 2006/2007 I also worked on a similar project and used this method on the word document (on Word 2003). At that time I had another Adobe Acrobat version, can't remember what version was...
This hyperlink situation was without any problem. After conversion, on the pdf file, if I click on a image it went to the right place inside that pdf file...
So I'm simply lost wether it's a problem of me, a problem of Word, a problem from Acrobat... simply lost...
    I'm desperated....please, someone help me!!!

Ok, sorry for never talk since the last time, but I finally discovered why I had this problem.
I found out that M$ decided somehow to change the process of embedded hyperlinks on a image, but in a docx it doesn't get affected. Only after transforming it into a pdf by Acrobat that the problem emerges...
    I found this site http://www.pb-solv.net/2013/08/embed-pictures-in-microsoft-word.html
Basically all I have to do is "Use Insert, Quick Parts, Field, IncludePicture. This inserts the picture in the old way as a field. You can use Alt-F9 to reveal the field codes and change the images to be embedded rather than linked."
Then, after converting it with acrobat, the pdf finally have hyperlinks on the images!!!
They change this on Word 2007. As I had the 2003, at the time, I didn't had this problem.
As I said, M$ changed something, but only is affected after converting with acrobat. So, acrobat also missed something in the process. I call it a 50/50 guilt.
To bad no one ever notice this problem...

  • Acrobat X Pro PDF Portfolio does not display video correctly

    Windows XP
    Acrobat X Pro
SWF file, also SWF file converted to PDF
I am trying to place an SWF file in a portfolio so that the first frame of the video will be visible as the user pages through the portfolio. All I see is a white screen. When I double-click it and then then click "open file" the PDF version at least plays fine. But I can't seem to get the preview to display correctly.
    Can anyone provide any help?
    Thanks!

  • Embedded Videos in Adobe Acrobat X Pro

    Hi
When viewing an interactive pdf I have created with embedded .flv files in Adobe Acrobat X Pro, there is a grey box (the size of the video) that quickly flashes before the file is played. I have set the video activation settings to enable when "The page containing the content is opened". Every time I open a page with video, the grey box appears before the video plays.
Is there a way to not have the grey box appear before the video plays? Or is there even a way to edit the color of this box so it is a less noticeable transition in my documet? I assume this is some sort of default setting to be displayed when the video loads.
Any suggestions regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Video in PDF is stored in a compressed format (flate), which has to be uncompressed at the point the annotation is activated. Depending on the video and the system specs of the viewer this can take a second or two, during which time the playback widget has nothing to show. You'll tend to see either a blank space, or the default color of the Flash stage.
With the Multimedia>Video tool you can't change the stage color, but if you manually add the video widget and resources using the Multimedia>SWF tool there's an option to make it transparent.

  • How can I Append the same (altered) web page to the same Acrobat 9 Pro PDF file more than once

The Acrobat 9 Pro utility in IE 8 of the Windows 7 Pro OS has a selection to "Append to Existing PDF," however it only allows appending the same web page one time only.  if the majoriety of the page data content is changed by selecting list item at the top of the page, I need to (re-)add the page with new content to the same (selected) PDF file, however the utilitiy does not allow this due to its maintaining a special index of each page base on the page URL or name.  Can the this index or the page itself be changed whenever the page is altered to make Acrobat think it is a new page?

I don't use IE, but I would suspect you can clear the cache or such to reset this option. You could also just open the web site directly in Acrobat and play the game there.

  • Can a 9.2.0 plug-in be used in Acrobat X Pro ?

A corporate update will install Acrobat X pro and we are currently using Acrobat 9.2 .
All is well and functioning .
I have the following Questions :
          1. Will a 9.2 plug-in work with X ?
The current plug-in is compiled using version 1 of the SDK .
          2. How do you run a plug-in using X ?
I have seen a few screen shots of the front end UI and it looks menu driven  -
as opposed to the tool bars that we are used ot seeing in 9.2 .
Thanks this will help me get ready -
I have only a short window to develop a transition plan on this - I hope this is a slam-dunk simple cahnge like the 9.0 -> 9.2 update was
    Thanks

Plugins written for Acrobat 9 *mostly* work, but it depends what functions they're calling and how their UI elements are presented.
Although the API is largely-unchanged, a couple of features (mainly around legacy search and export) have been depreciated and ADBC is no longer supported.
The main changes are in the access to menus and toolbars - the menus in Acrobat X are minimal, and if your plugin targets an A9 menu parent that no longer exists, nothing will happen.
Plugins that add buttons to toolbars, or create their own toolbars, will no longer have the ability to do so in Acrobat X. Instead, the buttons will be created within a new pane in the Tools Panel, named after the plugin. Users can drag and drop the buttons to the Quick Tools area but there is no programmatic access to the toolbar of any form. As far as the plugin is concerned, it will see no difference - Acrobat automatically redirects the button to the pane.

  • How can I best analyze data that were collected in an Acrobat XI Pro form in a variety of ways?

I would like to analyze the data that I collect using an Acrobat XI Pro form using a variety of numerical and statistical methods.  I assume the first step would be to export the data to a program such as Microsoft Excel.  I am wondering if there are any free or inexpensive programs I can use to perform the analyses.  i have SPSS, but I am looking for something free or inexpensive that my colleagues can use.

Yes, you can export the data as a tab-delimited text file, which you can then process in Excel.
What you do after that point is not really related to the subject of this forum.

  • Can't apply redaction! Problem reading this document (16) Acrobat 9 pro

I am trying to apply redactions to sensitve data. I go through all the steps, mark it for reaction etc.. but when I click to "apply redaction", I get the error message "There was a problem reading this document (16). I can't find an answer to this anywhere!
The file I'm using originated from a CD sent to me from our retirement administrators. There are no restrictions on what I can do with the files.
I've tried this on 3 different computers, using both Acrobat 9 Pro (with most current updates) and Acrobat 10 Pro and I always get the same error message. Even when I extract one page, rename it and try to manually redact (without using search and redact), I still get the same message.
Any ideas???  I really need to redact social security numbers!
    Thanks
I'm using windows 7 pro if that helps...

Can't believe I didn't think of that! It worked!
    Thanks!

  • Can't open Sony PXW-X70 (.mxf) video files for Final Cut Pro X or iMovie, please help!

    Hi there--
Just got the Sony PXW-X70 and I can't seem to open the .mxf or even successfully transcode the video files into something that can be read on the mac. (Running 10.9.5)
I downloaded Brorsoft Video Converter for Mac and the Ackrock Video Converters and neither of them work. They just are able to import the audio but not the video portion.
Very frustrated here, any advice? Thanks!

The clips from the X70 are not XAVC-S, but XAVC (sometimes called XAVC-L) and the plugin from Sony linked above is not compatible with them. I also don't recommend those sketchy third party conversion options. Still, as of mid-December, the best options for getting Sony X70 XAVC clips into FCPX are:
    1. Use the free Sony Catalyst Browse to convert them (one at a time, although you can queue up multiple files without waiting for the previous one to finish)
    2. Use the $200 Sony Catalyst Prepare software
    3. Shoot AVCHD until there is a solution from Sony - supposedly Sony is at work on a plugin for FCPX to allow native ingest/editing of these clips. I've read that it should arrive very soon, but we'll see.
I'm using option 1 - $200 is ridiculous, and I didn't buy a camera with 10-bit 4:2:2 and a strong codec to shoot in AVCHD
If it's any consolation, Avid and even Sony Vegas will not import them either.

  • How can I create a linkable TOC on the left using Acrobat XI Pro?

I am completely new to making PDFs. I have a User Manual that I created in Word and would like to have a TOC on the left for easy access to the topics. How can I do this?

    Geri ,
The same can be done in a PDF using Acrobat .
    You can add bookmarks here.
On the left hand side of the page ,you will see few options on the pane.Choose the option bookmark and you can create ,expand or delete bookmarks from there.
That is equivalent to TOC in word.

  • How to Make a pdf that can be downloaded, filled in and saved and then emailed; Acrobat 9 Pro; Windows

    Hi,
I hope this hasn't been asked before, but I really need to figure out how to do this.   We take forms in Word, convert them using the wizard, and then the only way I can figure how to make them fill in able and then saveable is to distribute through email.  This won't work for me, I need to put them on a website so they don't rely on me to get the forms.
Any help is appreciated.   Here is a link to a state work site here in washington that has exactly what I need. if that help to clarify what I'm talking  about.
    Best, Mary

    Hi Mary,
I have recently gone through this same experience.
The first thing is to set the security.
Go to Advanced/Security/2 Encrypt with password.  On this page go to Permissions and click on Restrict editing.
You will need to add a password, choose the printing allowed, and changes allowed - this is where you allow the form
    to be filled out.
When you have finished these steps, click ok.
Then from the Advaned menu choose "Extend Features in Adobe Reader".  You will see what access the user has to the form.
Your form should be ready to email or add to a website as a pdf form.
    Hope this helps.
    Debbie

  • Can I change the size of just one page in acrobat 9 pro?

    Hi,
I have acrobat 9 pro. (I think it's great.) I would like the first page to be 57% and the other 63 pages to be 100%. Is that possible?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kidd in Paris

There is no way I know of to do this directly.
You could always create a PDF of the cover only at a smaller size (65% of the original size) and insert it.
The only issue there is if they print it, the cover will also print at 65%...

  • Serial Number is correct but no product related to that serial number can be found on the computer. I have downloaded Acrobat XI Pro. Any suggestions?

Serial Number you provided is correct but a qualifying product could not be found on this computer. This is a message I get when when doing a serial number upgrade. There is no Acrobat XI Pro in the drop down list to endorse against the serial number. Any suggestions how to proceed with this one?

That message indicates you have purchased an upgrade version and it is asking you to identify the older version that you are upgrading from... the one that qualifies you to use the upgrade version.  It will also require you to provide the serial number for that older version.
