Can't get SQL Developer 1.2.1.3213 to Start

OS: Windows XP Pro SP2
Java: V1.6.0
Oracle V9.2 and V10.2
If I run sqldeveloper.exe, nothing happens. If I run sqldeveloper.bat in a command window, I get the following error message.
Unrecognized VM option 'JavaPriority10_To_OSPriority=10'

Do you have other java versions on your system?
The error implies you are using an older version of java. Make sure that 1.6 is on your path.

  • How can I get SQL Developer working on Windows 7 64-bit

    Hi all,
I've followed the download instructions for SQL Developer v4 as per the download page (
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/sqldev-download-v4-1925679.html
    Install instructions: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/sqldev-install-windows-1969674.html
I've  installed SQL Developer requires JDK 7 (jdk-7u25-windows-x64.exe) - with no issues.
I've also downloaded and unziped to sqldeveloper-4.0.0.12.27-no-jre.zip to C:\Program Files\
SQL Developer successfully starts, but when I try to connect to a data source, I get the following error:
Status : Failure -Test failed: C:\Oracle11g\product\11.2.0\client_1\BIN\ocijdbc11.dll: Can't load IA 32-bit .dll on a AMD 64-bit platform.
can any tell me how I fix this issue........... I getting fed up using clunky toad

You're trying to use a 32 bit Oracle Client with 64 bit SQL Developer.
You're doing something in SQL Developer that's requiring us to load OCI - in your connection properties, use Network Alias instead of Connect Identifier for TNS, or make sure in your Advanced settings you don't have 'Use OCI/Thick driver' enabled.
Or, install a 64 bit copy of the Oracle Client and tell SQL Developer to use that home instead.

  • Help getting SQL Developer to work

I'm just trying to get SQL Developer to work so I can use student databases. I have no intent of being a networker, and I definetly have no intent of failing this class because I can't do my homework.
    Update.
Someone from my Java Class told me to restart the services related to Oracle. I attempted to do so, but got the following errors:

I believe the TNSListener service is the main problem (seeing as when I try to open the database I get an error saying "TNSListener service is not running.") So I looked that up, and it said to check sqlnet.log:

And now I'm stuck again. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Oh right. I did change the port in an attempt to get Scott to work.
Changed back to port 1521, but still no luck.
I think my problem has something to do with OracleDBConsoleorcl. I get Error Code 2 when I try to start that service up.
    Although...my SERVERNAME_SID is 192.168.15.101_orcl (Directory: C:\app\Davidi\product\11.1.0\db_1\192.168.15.101_orcl)
Which was the IP Address ipconfig set up the day that SQL Developer was actually working. Of course, that IP Address changes every time you restart windows. My teacher suggested that I set up a static IP Address or try setting it to local host, but I really don't know how to do either of those.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • Can I use SQL developer for a Sybase IQ migration to Oracle?

    Hello,
Can I use SQL developer for a Sybase IQ migration to Oracle?
Currently in the supported list appears only Sybase Adaptive Server 12 and 15.
    Thanks,
    Florin D.

Sorry, we don't support IQ migrations at this time.

  • Can we use SQL developer tool to READ/WRITE BerkeleyDB by any means

We use Berkeley Db as a persistent database, which holds data less frequently changed data. Can is it possible to use SQL Developer tool or any other front end tool that can connect and communicate to Berkeley db file for INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE records.

I assume you're referring to Berkeley DB SQL (BDB SQL API).
SQL Developer is not certified to work with BDB SQL; see the SQL Developer Certifications page.
Something similar was asked some time ago, about connecting JDeveloper to BDB SQL; see this Re: How connect Oracle JDeveloper 11g to Berkeley DB 11g. The SQL tools in JDeveloper and SQL Developer are similar and built on the same components, so my answer there can be extended to SQL Developer as well. While you can probably have SQL Developer properly connect to a BDB SQL database, I am afraid you won't be able to do more than just viewing the data; likely any attempt to generate DDL or DML statements, export data, or run DML statements against the database will fail.
If you migrated to BDB SQL from SQLite and were using a front-end tool for SQLite, it should be possible to use that with BDB SQL as well.

  • Where can I get application development kit for iPad?

    Hi apple world,
Where can I get application development tool for iPad?
I am new apple user, and fascinated with iPad. Having computer science background at college, I am interested in developing simple game application to get started. Hopefully, I would like to put some games in app store in the future.
My iTune is in windows XP, and it may be the platform for development.
    Regards,
    Hire

Actually, it is free to register at http://developer.apple.com/programs/register/ as a developer and download the SDK. The $99 fee only applies if you want to install your Apps on a real iOS device (instead of the simulator) or submit them for distribution on the AppStore.

  • How can I get a module created in Captivate 4 to start on slide 2 when launched?

How can I get a module created in Captivate 4 to start on slide 2 when launched?

    Hello
Wanted to ask why do you have that first slide then? Just tried this:
create and Advanced action with one statement: Jump to slide 2
attach this action to the even Enter slide for the first slide
You may see very quickly that first slide when playing. To avoid that (but it depends on the content of that first slide) you could  cover up the beginning of that slide for a very short time with a white rectangle.

  • Can you use SQL Developer against non Oracle data bases?

If so, then how do you define the connection for non Oracle data bases?

Look, SQL Developer has got to be a 'gateway' into Oracle DBs from other databases. JDBC allows simple introspection and execution of SQL commands. So the 'explain' button won't be available, or some of the DDL stuff, big deal! Let them get a taste of what they are missing by not having an Oracle database.
If we can get non-Oracle developers (especially MS SQL Server) to use SQL Developer it will expose them to the superiority of the Oracle DB server.
If they have heterogenous services installed they are already an Oracle customer -- we have little additional DB server sale opportunity there. SQL Developer is a really sweet tool and it could be a real draw into the DB server sales.
SQL Developer must be easily usable by non-Oracle customers in order to help us sell the DB server to them!

  • How do I get SQL Developer to connect to SQL Server.

I have downloaded SQL Developer but I see no option to connect to SQL Server in order to do the database migration. I found a document that said to download the MSSQLSERVERMIGRATION.ZIP file and it said to unzip the file. There is no instruction as to where the files are going. Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Hello,
did you read the following from the SQL Developer online help:
Before Migrating From Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Adaptive Server
To configure a Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Adaptive Server database for migration:
Ensure that the source database is accessible by the Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Adaptive Server user that is used by SQL Developer for the source connection. This user must be able to see any objects to be captured in the Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Adaptive Server database; objects that the user cannot see are not captured. For example, if the user can execute a stored procedure but does not have sufficient privileges to see the source code, the stored procedure cannot be captured.
Ensure that you can connect to the Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Adaptive Server database from the system where you have installed SQL Developer.
Ensure that you have downloaded the JTDS JDBC driver from http://jtds.sourceforge.net/.
In SQL Developer, if you have not already installed the JTDS driver using Check for Updates (on the Help menu), do the following:
Click Tools, then Preferences, then Database, then Third Party JDBC Drivers.
    Click Add Entry.
Select the jar file for the JTDS driver you downloaded from http://jtds.sourceforge.net/.
    Click OK.
For further reading I recommend to start on this page:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/migration/sqlserver-095136.html
It contains a demonstration "Creating a connection to Microsoft SQL Server".

  • How can I get SQL query excution time

    Hi ,
When I run a query , How can i get total execution time for that query.
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Basha.

    There are several ways:
    1. In SQL, issue SET TIMING ON
    2. Trace your query:
    - ALTER SESSION SQL_TRACE=TRUE;
    - Execute your query
    - ALTER SESSION SET SQL_TRACE=FALSE
    - Decode the tracefile left at USER_DUMP_DEST using TKPROF.

  • TNS_ADMIN not respected, or how do I get sql developer to see my tnsnames

When I installed sql developer at home with a 'static' tnsnames.ora file, sql-developer picked it up right away, and I was able to use the 'connect identifier' pull down menu.
However, at work, all of developer's computers have a TNS_ADMIN registry set pointing to a network share. Sql developer fails to recognize that. The purpose of this is central administration of the file (changes happen at least once a month)
Is there are a way to make it see our tnsnames.ora file? Is there are some kind of workaround (besides copying the file locally)
    Thanks.

Unfortunately, because SQL Developer is set up to allow an install without any local Oracle client, it is not wonderful at picking up some things from the local Oracle client when it is there - such as the TNS_ADMIN setting.
Assuming you are on an Windows box, rather than having your TNS_ADMIN set in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle registry 'directory', you need to have a Windows environment variable set for TNS_ADMIN (it doesn't matter if this is a User environment variable or a System environment variable). I assume (but don't know) that on a Linux based version you need a Unix environment variable set.
For example on Windows XP, right click on My Computer and select the Properties menu option. On that page, select the Advanced tab and then the Environment Variables button. Then click on the New button (in either the System or User section) and enter the variable name TNS_ADMIN and the variable value that you are using in the registry (ie z:\orant\network\admin).

  • SQL Developer 1.5.1 failed to start after applying patchset 11.1.0.7

After applying patchset 11.1.0.7 to Oracle 11g (11.1.0.6) running on Windows 2003, when starting SQL Developer 1.5.1 I got an error:
"Unable to find main class. Class specified is: oracle/ide/boot/Launcher".
    Any idea? Thanks.

It is possible that the patch has replaced you shortcut with one pointing to the version within the 11g home. Try running sqldeveloper directly from the executable in the 151 directory.

  • I can't get iOS Development Videos to play in Safari or iTunes

If I go to https://developer.apple.com/videos/ios/ and try to play any of the videos listed, they will not play. I am using Safari 6.0.1 on my MacBook Pro which is running OS X 10.8.2.
When I click the "Watch now" link for the video I want to see, the player is show at the top of the page. If I click the "Play" button, nothing happens.
If I try to download it in iTunes (11.0), the video appears to download without any problem but, there is no indication that the video downloaded in the video list (the little button still reads "Get" for the video I downloaded). If I click the video in the list, and hit the play button, nothing happens.
It's hard to believe I am having problems with both sources...what am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

Well, I guess those videos are not supported by the current version of iTunes.
I originally had iTunes set to "Open in 32-bit mode" so I could watch these videos. But apparently, since I upgraded iTunes (and OS X), that setting no longer enables those videos to play. When that selection was enabled (Open in 32-bit mode), I experienced the behavior above. Once I de-selected that setting, and re-opened iTunes to try the video again, I recieved a message that stated "This movie requires QuickTime, which is not supported by this version of iTunes."
So, I guess I am out of luck?
    This is hard to believe.
