Can't import MJPEG video

I recently bought a Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z600, which records video in MJPEG format in an AVI container. I can get the files off the camera fine, but I can't seem to actually use the footage. I can hear the audio that gets recorded, but I just get a black frame instead of the video.
This happens if I try to import the video into iMovie, or even just try to play it with QuickTime. It plays back just fine on the camera, and it plays fine if I convert it to MPEG-4 / H.263 with iSquint. I really don't want to convert to another lossy codec, though, I want to import straight into iMovie.
MJPEG is an exceedingly simple format, and I just can't imagine that OS X doesn't support it out of the box. Maybe it's just the AVI wrapper?

When it comes to AVI files not playing correctly the first thing I do is see if they play in QuickTime, if they do not play there I know I am not going to be able to edit them in iMovie without going through some sort of conversion usually.
If it does play in QuickTime check in your root level of your hard drive in /Library/QuickTime and see if there is anything but AppleIntermediateCodec.component in there; if so, move them to the desktop and try importing into iMovie again. You may want to try logging out of your computer and back in after moving those to the desktop. Also check in your home folder in ~/Library to see if there is a QuickTime folder in there. If so, move it to the desktop as well and try importing into iMovie.
I have sucessfully imported Motion JPEGS and the problem I came across in the past was an older version of Flip4Mac installed on the computer was causing some problems with importing into iMovie.

I'm able to import 720P Movies from my still cam (Olympus XZ-1) in the Photo App of iPad 2, but not to iMovie. Seems that iMovie iOS is limited to MPEG4/AVC (h.264).
I'm upset, because there is no reasonable case not to support MJPEG in iMovie, when it is supported in iOS in principle.

Can you import movie videos from SD camera card

Can you import movie videos (MP4) into an Ipad from an SD camera card on a Lightning cable ... or can you only do this from a laptop via Itunes? In other words, is Itunes the only way to get non-Itune videos to the Ipad? Hope I havent made this sound confusing.

To import the videos must follow a very strict naming convention.
All file names must have 8 characters for a name and be located in a folder named DCIM
for example
DCIM
MOV_5789.mp4
You can't watch the videos off the cart, they must be imported into the iPad. They'll go into the camera roll, when you tap on them it'll open the video app and you can watch from there.

What do you mean by "this video"? The FCP file? No, but any rendered version: Show the video track in GB and pull the video over.
The question is: Why would you want to do this? If it's just about fading out the music, as you write, FCP will happily do that for you.

Can't import some video's

Ik can't import all video's in my itunes library. I can import some of them. Can somsone tell me what kind of format, numer of bits, and so on what the video should have to import it?

Well iTUnes does not support .AVI files. When you try to add a corrupt file or a file format not supported by itunes to its library, Instead of giving you a message why its not being added, it simply does nothing, does not add the file nor give you any message

Can't import any video inAE CS 5.5

Just had AE installed and I can't import any video (.avi or .mov.) They show up grey and then if I try all files it says "it's a bad format or not readable." Two error messages about unknown exception and missing output plug-in show up when I opne AE. I have AE CS5.5, 10.6.8 Mac, QT 10 in applications file and QT 7.6.6 in utilities just installed today. I tried throwing out preferences but nothing seems to help. Plaese help me.

Run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool and reinstall. Also make sure you get rid of Perian, if it's on your system...

Connect the camera to the computer with a USB cable and use the camera as the card reader. Make sure the camera is in playback mode.

Can the video from an AVCHD Disc be imported into FCP 7 for re-editing if you have a normal Superdrive burner?
The reason I ask is because last night our film-making club gave a show of short videos to some guests.
At the end it was decided to put them all on one DVD to send to the visitors as a memento.
However, some of the films were on AVCHD discs and I queried whether they could be copied, even in standard definition.
The "copier" said it was no problem as he had a PC and had done it before . . . . . cheeky devil!
So can it be done . . . . . on a PC or a Mac . . . . with a standard burner?
I have just tried but nothing in the BDMV folder can be imported.

GOT IT!
Copy the BDMV folder from the AVCHD disc to the desktop.
Use HandBrake to convert the .m2ts files to H.264
Then convert the H.264 files to an editable format.
Rather convoluted process but it works.
Anyone know a better method?

IMovie 10.0.1. I can not import all video's from the SD card from my SONY camera.

I have a Sony HDR-CX280 and the last version of iMovie, 10.0.1.
When i Import video's I enter the SD card in the MAc and choose "import".
I create a new event and import part of the video to that event. No problem here.
Then I import a second part of the video to a new event. This goes extremely fast, but these parts of the video remain on the camera even if the show on iMovie after import. When I remove the SD card the images disappear while mentioning: "missing camera".
When the card is put back in te MAC the images re-appear.
On the videostream there is a small videocamera icon which mentions tha the video is still on the camera and that I need to select "import media again" from the archive menu. However this option is not available.
ANyone know what to do about this?
I alread made a copy of the video file to my hard drive and try importing from there but I have the same issue.
I think it is a bug and I also think the new version of iMovie is a beta version. However I would really like to find a solutoon, so thanks for any help I can get.

I have tried this and came to something strange:
- created a new library with the name imovie library 2
- imported the video to this new library -> succesfull - video stored locally
- drag and drop to the original library: a copy of the event is created in the original library HOWEVER this copy ahs the same issue, it refers to media on the camera and I can not see the video if I remove the SD card.
What can I do?

I recently imported a set of 14 photos and 1 video into iphoto. I got them all into the album i wanted except for 1 video. This single video can be imported to any other folder other than the one i want it to be.

Just drag the video into the event you want. But better yet post iPhoto problems in the iPhoto forum.

Can't import iPad videos in Final Cut Pro X

Hello there, anyone knows if there are recent issues in importing iPad videos into Final Cut Pro X?
I follow the ordinary workflow, and it all seems ok but at the end of the importing process a "!" yellow triangle remains attached to the imported clip and this one can't be played.
Already tried to make a high quality conversionand/or a proxy, the conversion process seems to start but it doesn't go further than 0%.
Thanks in advcance for your help.
PS: the videos have been teaken with the "Video Pro" app an then exported to the iPad "film roll".
PPS: in the importing window the clips can be played normally.

Russ, I succeed in importing some files by transcoding them in a proxy one by one (that is not in a work queue). Some other files simply stops the rendering process and make it hang until the closing of FCPX. Thanks for your time.
