Can't import new pictures in I photo

When I try to import new pictures from USB key or from my camera, it began as usually, but a message 'pictures are being importing' open and nothing happened.
I can wait 2 hours and there is the same message but I never see my pictures.
I can't close I photo or turn my macbooc off, same message " photo are being importing".
My memory is 152/256 .
What happen ?

Apple Menu -> Force Quit
Then try again.

  • Can you import more pictures into a photo book that is already in work?

Can you import more pictures into a photo book that is already in work? I have already spent many hours trying to create a photo album but came across more pictures to choose from. However, I don't know how to get these new pictures into the "list" of potential photos for the book in progress. I can't stand the thought of having to start over by selecting the 2000 photos plus these new ones and starting all over again!?!

I have found more pictures that I want to include. They are, say, in a folder on my desktop. I can't simply pull a picture (or the folder) from the desktop and insert it into the album or the list of potential pictures across the top.
to import into an existing book (which is just a special kind of album) simply drag the photos from their source (the desktop in your example) to the book in the source pane on the left (not to the book in the library window but the book icon in the source pane
Likewise to use photos from your iPhoto library just drag them from the library to the book
I also tried imported the pictures, from the desktop folder, into iphoto, creating new event. I don't think there is a way of accessing that new event from the album in work/progress.
Likewise to use photos from your iPhoto library just drag them from the library to the book in the source pane on the left
I also tried merging the new "event" into an existing event that I had selected for the album. That doesn't work either???
That is correct - there is no connection between the source of the book and the book - the book stands alone and you add direct to it in the source pane exactly as you would add to any other album

  • I wonder how pro photographers use aperture?I shoot raw and my harddrive is alreay full.I'm not able to import new pictures. Is it ok if i create a vault and delete all my projects in the HD.Can I use an external HD use aperture through the vault??

I wonder how pro photographers use aperture?I shoot raw and my harddrive is alreay full.I'm not able to import new pictures. I don't know what to do. I created a vault. My plan was to create a vault(put all my master files into an external harddrive) and then delete all my projects in my mac pro's harddrive. Is it the correct way to do it ? What should I do if I have thousands of raw files ? How should my workflow be? Can I use an external HD and use aperture through the vault, without keeping the master files on my computer's hard drive?? Or should I shoot raw+jpeg and store raw files in an external backup harddrive and import only jpegs into my aperture library?

There's a bit to learn.  It will slowly make sense.
Aperture is an empty field.  You're given a tractor and a whole bunch of attachments. What you grow, how, and where, is entirely up to you.
Vaults are for back-up and only for back-up.  They have nothing to do with storing your working files.
When your Library outgrows your system drive (and for good performance, you should leave c. 20% of every drive empty), it's time to convert some of your image's Masters from Managed to Referenced.  ("Managed" and "Referenced" refer to Masters, not to Libraries.)
There are hundreds of posts in the forum, and several pages in the User Manual on using Masters.
Many people run Aperture with the Library on their system disk, and most (or all) of their images' Masters on external FW drives.  This is a good set-up.  Note that you will likely have to take steps to back-up the data on your external drives.
If you do the above, there should be no reason to delete any Projects.
The choice of RAW or RAW+JPEG or JPEG depends on the kind of work you are doing.  I capture RAW only -- but I don't do any commercial shoots.  Pros on deadlines report that the RAW+JPEG works well for them.  Capture JPEG if it saves you time.  IMHO, there is not a good reason to shoot JPEG to save space (space is cheap; time expensive).
Short-term solution: buy and use a FW800 external 1 TB drive, formatted "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)", and using Aperture relocate the Masters of all images older than 30 days to that drive.  (Be sure to change your back-up strategy to include this new drive; you may need a second new drive.)
This general post of mine might help you understand more about Aperture.

  • Can't import new photos to default catalog in LR3,5

    Hi!
I'm running LR3,5 on OSx10.5.8 and recently I've lost the ability to import new photos (from hdd). My default catalog (so far I've been using only one) contains appx.33k photos and I can't import new shots. Yesterday I was shooting tethered camera and everything went fine. Today I wanted to import new files (from hdd) and noticed that "import button" is completly inactive. Dead. I set up a new catalog and managed to process todays photos but when I'm switching to previous catalog the "import" button is still dead.
    Thoughts? Ideas? Please help!
    Thank you in advance!

Just checked the histogram issue-seems OK:
I'm a bit ashamed to ask but where do I find preferences file?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kuba

trying to import photos and copy as DNG. Nothing will upload though. Permissions are all accurate, saving to the right profile, etc. Nothing has changed on my computer but it will not let me import new pictures. Also, updated the software and some images say "preview cannot be seen" and some don't. And when I try to import and I hit "new photos" it's all the photos on my card. My brain is about to explode.

It said something similar where the thumbnails were supposed to be.
Just got the newest edition of LR, 4.4
4.4 is not the newest edition of LR
We don't want to know that it said "something similar", we want to know the exact wording. In fact, you ought to state the exact problem you are having, in detail, instead of saying you are having the same problem.

  • I lost my macbook pro and i just got a new one. how can i retrieve the pictures taken with photo booth(old laptop) to my new laptop?

i lost my macbook pro and i just got a new one. how can i retrieve the pictures taken with photo booth(old laptop) to my new laptop?

Well if you don't have the laptop to get the storage drive out of it, and you don't have any previous backups how do you expect to get the photo's?
PhotoBooth is just a program, it stores the files on the computers storage drive, if the computer is lost so are your photo's.
There is nothing you can do to delete or retrieve them using your new computer unless you stored them online someplace.
DId you save them online? iDisk or something else?
I don't use such services because my data is mine and not theirs to snoop through, so if your looking for that sort of help I can't assist you any.

  • How do i import new pictures to both iPhoto and another folder

so i've created a duplicate folder of my current iPhoto Library Originals - and renamed the new folder as Photos which was on my Desktop (I now moved it into the Picture Folder where iPhoto Library is also)
I'm still tinkering with both Bridge and iPhoto to see which I like better for organizing and using along side Photoshop Elements.
So, when I import new pictures this weekend, how can I import them into iPhoto Library as well as into Photos folder? I understand that while I choose to mess with Bridge, I need a completely separate folder of pictures from the iPhoto Library as not to corrupt it.
    Thanks!

Use Image Capture (in your Applications Folder) to move the files from your camera to this Photo folder. Then import them to iPhoto from there. You can automate this process using a shareware called Hazel.

I used my new phone to take pictures, then restored it from a previous phone's backup in itunes.  Is there any way I can restore my new pictures?

    No.
    Sorry.
You should be importing photos to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera.

  • Problem importing new pictures

I am having trouble importing new pictures on my photoshop elements 10. I have done several projects with multiple pictures per project and thought my memory was full. I cleared all the pictures from my file as well as my backup file and it still will not let me import anything new. Please help! I have more pictures I need to edit and really need this fixed ASAP! And I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program and it did not fix it.

Are you talking about Elements Organizer?
You can create a new catalog and then import pictures in there. To make a new catalog, go to File >> Manage Catalogs >> New.

  • HT201077 Can I add older pictures to my photo stream?

Can I add older pictures to my photo stream?

There are a couple of ways to do this:
    Open the photos one at a time and take a screenshot.  This will add a new low resolution copy of the photo to the camera roll, which will then upload to your photo stream;
    Email the photos a few at a time to yourself, then save the attached photos to your camera roll.  This will add a copy of the photo at full resolution to your camera roll (if you choose to send them as Actual Size) and upload to photo stream;
Use an app like PhotoSync, which will allow you to wirelessly transfer copies of all your old photos to your computer all at once.  Then delete these photos from your camera roll and use PhotoSync to transfer them back from your computer to your camera roll.  These will be the original resolution and will upload to your photo stream.  (You need an app like this because iTunes will not transfer photos back to your camera roll, where they must be in order to add to your photo stream.)

  • My RAW files suddenly says "Unsupported Image Format" and can't import new pics

    Hi all,
A week ago I imported the latest bunch of RAW-images from my Canon EOS 30D (.CR2-files) and all was working great. I did take some of the pics and exported them to an e-mail and sent them off to a friend. Then after rearranging my home office I was trying to import some pics from my iPhone 4 - won't work!
And the RAW-images are not supported any longer!...??
    Facts:
    - iMac 2,66MHz Core 2 Duo/4GB/OS 10.8.1
    - Aperture 3.3.2
    - Aperture Library located on a Netgear ReadyNAS NV+
Have searched for a solution without finding anything that works...
    Have tried to:
    - repair permissions
    - examine database
    - tossed com.apple.Aperture.plist to the trash
    - am right now trying to rebuilding database as a last resort
Anyone have a good idea as I'm very reluctant to belive that rebuildning will work?
    BR,
    Pete

    Thanks for your reply!
I've looked into it a bit.
The ReadyNAS uses Linux Ext3/Ext4 file system.
Found that my rights to Aperture Library has been downgraded to "Read only" even though I'm the admin...
Won't take changes either... Get a message stating that I don't have the privilage to change file rights...!!
I've just started a copy session of the 125 GB large Library to the internal HDD... It seems like a good idea to have it there - even though it's eating massive amounts of disk surface! Almost 20%...
I'm calling Netgear tomorrow - how the heck can may rights be changed, just like that???
Funny thing it's been working fine for a pretty long time, it's after Mointain Lion it has started to acting up.
I did have similar problems the day after upgrading to ML but after a firmware upgrade of the ReadyNAS it worked like a charm again - until yesterday...
Hope that I'm allowed to change the rights when it's been copied to the internal disk... Been typing and researching file system type etc for at least 15 mins now and it's still "preparing to copy"
Here's what I found in Console, the line called "2012-09-13 01:13:16,238" gave it away for sure (while trying to import new pictures).

    Install NTFS 3G
    http://macntfs-3g.blogspot.com/
If you were going to be reading and writing to a NTFS System Partition, you might have to worry about the instability messing up the operating system.  However, you are reading/writing from a non system, backup device so you don't have to worry about screwing up an operating system.
I would still temporarily move my data to another device and reformat the drive for Mac OS X Extended.

  • After update LR 5.4, the program will not import new pictures

After update of LR 5.4 on my laptop, I cannot import any new pictures anymore.
I did the same update on my desktop and there it was no problem at all.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem??

I am importing from a verbatim ssd, and I just don't get the chance to choose an import, I don't see any pictures to choose from. Ans what ever I pick it won't work
On my desktop it was no problem at all. But my laptop gives my trouble.
I do not have any error messages

Where are you importing from?  What type of Import (Copy, Move, Add)?  What is the destination specified at the righthand side?
    Any error messages?
