Can't install anything after new Pacman install.

I'm installing Arch on a computer at work. I used the install cd. Booted up fine. Ran a
pacman -Syu
updated pacman, ran pacman -Sc then updated the mirrorlist file as I like for the servers. Then ran
pacman -Syu
again to update the packages.
Now if I try a
pacman -S xorg
it will download everything but a few files. Why? I can't get it to install gnome either (downloads everything but 3 or 4 files). Says bad md5sum and doesn't even begin to download the package. Then it asks if I want to delete the package.
Also I'm trying to install firefox3 so I ran
pacman -Sy firefox3
and I get
"error: 'firefox3': not found in sync db"
I downloaded the tar.bz2, unzipped it into ~/abs/local/firefox then tried to go into the directory and run
./configure
but gives me an unrecognized command.
Also if I run pacman -Syu on my laptop, same thing, downloads all files except a few. It never fully completes.
Any help solving my problem would be great! I have internet connectivity at both places.

Still a no go. It will download all the packages, but then checks for package integrity.

  • Can you do anything after sendRedirect()

    I'm not able to test this myself as I don't have a development environment set up, but this is my question.
    Is it possible to do anything after a call to sendRedirect(), e.g. setting cookies, additional checking? The javadocs say that if the response has been committed, this method throws an IllegalStateException. Is it possible to do anything after a call to sendRedirect(), such as writing to a response, adding cookies?
    Here is some code which may explain my question:
    protected void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException {
              String username = request.getParameter(USER_ID);
              response.sendRedirect(anotherUrl);
                                              // is this even possible????
              response.addCookie(new Cookie("Login", "true"));
         }

    I just tested this with the following code:
    public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException {
    Cookie[] cookies = request.getCookies();
              for(int i = 0; i < cookies.length; i++) {
                   Cookie c = cookies;
                   LOGGER.info("Cookie: " + c.getName() + ", " + c.getValue());
    response.sendRedirect(someURL());
    response.addCookie(new Cookie("Login", "true"));
    Basically it will print all cookies in the request. On the first doPost, it does the redirect before adding the Login cookie. On subsequent doPost's the Login cookie was not printed out, the only cookie I found was the JSESSIONID, which was expected. So you can't set cookies after a redirect.

  • I can't update packages after upgrading pacman to 4.0.3

    I know this was already treated broadly about two months ago, but I can't update after upgrading pacman because of continuous problems with certain signatures (at least one).
    I have already tried this:
    rm -rf /etc/pacman.d/gnupg
    pacman -Scc
    pacman-key --init
    pacman-key --populate archlinux
    But I still get this error when trying to upgrade the system:

    error: failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package)
    Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
    Could anybody help me? I'm pretty devastated with this.

    Thanks everyone! I guess it was a faulty mirror.
    I also had problems upgrading glibc because /lib had to be linked to /usr/lib, but I fixed it seeking for helpful tips on the forum. What I did was move everything from /lib to /usr/lib, shutdown, start adding break=postmount to kernel line, mount the filesystem, remove /lib folder, link /usr/lib to /lib and reboot. Then I reinstalled glibc and everything went well.
    Now some fonts look half-cutted in Gnome Shell when the window or panel which contains them is in background and I don't know why. But it is not the first time I have "graphical artifacts" with Arch Linux on this laptop. I think has something to do with the compositing.

  • Can't boot anything after deleting C partition in order to install Windows 8.1

    I have a ASUS X55VD notebook, wich had a Windows 7 64-bit (and a dual booted Ubuntu, but with Windows bootloader). Yesterday I tried to install a Windows 8.1, so I inserted a disc and restarted.
    The window to manually select the partition, on wich it will be installed, came up so I formated C partition where Windows 7 was installed. It did not allow me to install to that partition because, a new format (GPT) had to be used. So i chose to delete the
    partition. Deleting was quite long, after wich the computer restated, and after that it only showed black screen.
    The Windows DVD is still spinning, but nothing shows. Can't acces the BIOS (none of the keys work).
    Tried:
    - Hardware reset (battery out>hold power button fro 10-20 sec>put battery inside>start) - No change
    - Put a Live Linux DVD to boot from it - No change
    - Put a hirens boot cd - No change
    - USB boot - No change
    - Connect a external keyboard and tried accessing BIOS - Nothing happened
    I would suffice with just gettng some of my data from him, and sending him to repair Can't tinker with harware, or it will void my varrancy
    Please help. The problem is really urgent.

    Hi,
    It seems a hardware issue, you can first try to reset the CMOS - remove the cell battery from the motherboard for at least half hour, re-insert it, boot up. The BIOS settings should be reset to defaults. But for better solution, I
     suggest you contact the manufacture.

  • Can't read DVDRW after new HD install

    I just got my iBook back from the Mac store today after getting a new HD and top case - I backed up all my files on a DVDRW which worked fine and was readable before I sent the computer in. Now when I insert the disc the drive makes a clicking sort of noise and spits the disc out after a few seconds.
    I know its not the disc because Ive also tried other DVDRWs that I had burned previously and nada. It does read CDs and DVDRs fine however.
    I figure I'll take it back to the Mac store this weekend - Any suggestions in the mean time??

  • Satellite L500-126: Win7 upgrade -can I re-activateit after new installation?

    I successfully upgraded Windows 7 from my OEM Vista yesterday.
    What if in the future, I need to reinstall the whole system?
    Can I re-activate Win 7 after the new installation?
    PS. My OEM Vista is 64 bit version and my win 7 is the ultimate 64 bit upgrade version
    THX

    I hope I understand your question right so here is what I know about it:
    When you upgrade original preinstalled Vista you don't need to activate Win7 but if you make clean Win7 installation then you must activate preinstalled version.
    With other words to have activations-free Win7 you must install Vista at first using Toshiba recovery DVD and then upgrade it to Win7.

  • Can't boot anything after attempting to Bootcamp

    Hi,
    I have an Intel Macbook Pro (can't think what year off the top of my head right now) running Snow Leopard and I attempted to Bootcamp with a standard Windows XP disk a few hours ago. A few minutes before the attempt I finished reformatting and reinstalling Snow Leopard, as I'd been having disk utility problems. I set the partition for 50GB (of 200GB) in the Bootcamp Utility, but when it restarted, I was presented with only a single partition to choose from, which was 130GB. I couldn't see the 50GB, so decided to exit. After exiting the MBP attempted to load the disk again, but failed. From then on I can't load any operating system (not that I expect I could load XP), and it boots to a black screen with a flashing cursor in the top left corner. I can't load the original Snow Leopard install disk, or any disk, and I also can't boot into safe mode. When I use the alt/option key boot, I'm faced with a semi-large grey lock with a password field.
    If anyone needs more info, I'll try find it.
    Thanks,
    chunks01

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
    the single partition of 130GB phenomenon usually indicates that you used a Windows XP CD that does not match the requirements of BootCamp.
    Usually a XP CD which is not at SP2 (Service Pack 2) level, but a prior one.
    To make yourself an XP SP2 (or SP3) install CD you can use these instructions http://www.winsupersite.com/xp/sp3_slipstream.asp
    As for your second but foremost problem, have a look here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1978
    Hope it helps

  • Treo 680: Typedown contacts search problem: can't find anything after S

    I recently purchased an unlocked GSM Treo 680 to replace a stolen Treo 650 (which replaced a 600, which replaced another 600, etc.). I loaded all my data on to it. However, when I do a typedown search in Contacts, it refuses to find any entries which (alphabetically by last name) occur after my friend "Catherine Simmonds". Even if their first name begins with an earlier letter of the alphabet, it doesn't find them. I can reach their entries by doing a lot of scrolling in the full list, but no other way.
    However, if I make a change of some sort to the contacts database, it does find them - for one search only. If I back up (delete a letter) on the search or cancel and do a new search, it stops being able to find them again. I've tried deleting some contacts, including the two either side of the "break", to see if they are corrupt in some way or if it's the number of contacts (I have about 420), but that doesn't seem to make a difference. At all times, I can find the contacts using the global search tool - although the 680 seems to have stopped the previous practice of starting global searches with the current database, which means it's often the second screen before the contact shows up.
    I run Ubuntu Linux 8.04, and am using jpilot as my sync software.
    To me, particularly given the intermittent nature of the thing and the ability to make it work temporarily by making changes to the Contacts database, this has all the marks of a software bug. Is it a known issue? Has anyone else seen it? Is there a fix?
    I'm using software version TREO680-2.12-ROW, Firmware R01.92. Please let me know if there's more information I can provide.

    What exactly do you mean by starting again?
    Previously, I restored a backup and then synced to get all data since the backup. I could certainly do that again. But I don't want to go all the way back to the backup only, because I'd lose all the data between then and now.
    jpilot, my sync software, won't let me sync on to a completely blank Treo. It tells me that I have to restore a backup first as a base. So I'm not sure if I'm able to restore the PIM data without restoring everything.
    I think it's unlikely to be an incompatible application because the problem is with a shipped Palm app. But you know more about Palm OS than me.
    But I'll have a play around and let you know how far I get.

  • Everything colored grey and I can't edit anything on new purchased usedipod

    I just bought a video ipod off of my friend who got a new ipod touch and didn't need it anymore. When i plug it in to my computer everything such as song titles and videos is gray and i can't play or edit anything.
    I figure i could probably just erase his old stuff and start new, but i kind of wanted some of it if possible.

    iPods will work with more than one PC if they are set to manual sync.
    Everything is grayed out now becuase it is set to auto sync.

  • Migration Assistant PC to Mac - can't view anything after transfer

    I just transferred docs, pics and music from my PC to my new Mac using Migration Assistant. I tried to open the folders but they all have a red circle with a negative sign in it and they say that I don't have permission to access the files. What should I do now? Do I need to delete all the files and change sharing on the PC and redo this whole process? Help please and thanks!

    I found my data in the shared folder. Not all of it was there and in the end a nice lady from Apple told me to start again from the beginning and delete the mess the import program created
    I am still a bit confused over the red circles but make sure you are in the right account when trying to see the data as I dont think even as admin I could see the main user account (I had 5 for the family).
    There is a button under the get info tab that can change some of the permissions
    Frustrating isnt it

  • Can't Access Bookmarks After New Sync

    I just got a Galaxy S3 & started using Firefox with the new sync which requires you to make an account. My old phone was an HTC ONE MAX using the old sync method.
    After syncing my Galaxy I still don't have access to my desktop bookmarks in the bookmark tab. Is anyone else having this problem?

    HI RicoTubbs34,
    Thank you for your question. When you mentioned that you synced the previous phone to the old Firefox Sync, did you ever update to the new version of sync? or are all devices connected to the same account?
    If not, please take the opportunity to do this:
    *[[How to update to the new Firefox Sync]]
    If yes, and you are still not seeing the Desktop Bookmarks folder please try the "Sync Now" option from the Tools menu on Firefox for desktop. Wait a bit then sync now from the Galaxy 3 Firefox account menu.
    Do they now appear?

  • When u buy storage for iPad in iCloud and can't download anything after it

    HHave iPad 2 16g bought 15g storage threw iCloud but can't download movies

    You can't buy additional iPad storage without buying a higher capacity iPad; iCloud storage is separate from that on the devices itself. You need to delete content from the iPad until it has enough free space to store the movies.

  • My iPhoto keeps crashing after installing the latest update, can't do anything!

    My iPhoto keeps crashing after installing the latest update, can't do anything! It used to crash when importing but now I'm at the point where I open the software and after 2 seconds it crashes (nothing connected either). What to do? Can't access any photos

    Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If you can create a new library and import some test photos then the problem lies with your original library.
    If that's the case make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
    Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
    Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
    Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
    In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
    Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
    If iPhoto crashes while trying to create a new library then try this:
    Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
    Click to view full size
    3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
    NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    If that fails to help a reinstall of iPhoto is indicated. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
    Click to view full size
    Then install iPhoto from the disk it came on originally and apply all relavant updaters.
    P.S.  If you're still running Tiger, 10.4.6, then the above may not apply.  If you're running a newer system you should update your profile so we have a better idea of where you're at.
