Can't load nvidia module after kernel and nvidia update

After latest kernel (3.6.36.2) and nvidia (260.19.29) upgrade xorg doesn't work. I investigated a little, and that's what I found:
# modprobe nvidia
FATAL: Error inserting nvidia (/lib/modules/2.6.36-ARCH/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.ko): No such device
I blacklisted nouveau module:
# cat /etc/rc.conf | grep nouveau
MODULES=(b43 vboxdrv !nouveau)
but it didn't help.
Video card:
# lspci | grep VGA

  • Can't load pdf files after 10.4.11 update

Since installing the 4.10.11 update I can't read any more the pdf files downloaded in Safari 3 as the page turns completely gray (I can read pdf files only after downloading them to the desktop). I have browsed the 4.10.11 troubles and answers hoping to find a cue, but nothing of the like seems to have happened yet...
Is there something that I can do ?
Thank you for any help !

Have got exactly the same problem with Safari, but fine using Internet Explorer. Had a quick look on Adobe's update page - seems they only go up to 10.4.10... that may be problem???

  • Can I load my personal Creative cloud and later update to Enterprise subscription?

I have a personal creative cloud subscription on my personal macbook pro. I got a new work macbook pro and need to get Creative Cloud loaded onto this macbook. I will be getting a work CC subscription soon, but until that time, I want to load CC on my new work macbook with my personal CC subscription but with the ability to change to an enterprise subscription later. Can I do this?
    Let me know folks!

  • Slow down in X after kernel and xorg packages updated

Just upgraded to the latest kernel and xorg with the following packages and X has taken a nose dive and slowed down drastically:
    kernelcairo-1.10.0-2  kernel26-2.6.35.7-1
    mesa-7.8.2-3  nss-3.12.8-1  xf86-input-evdev-2.5.0-1
    xf86-video-nv-2.1.18-1  xf86-video-vesa-2.3.0-3
    xkeyboard-config-1.9-1  xorg-server-common-1.9.0-1
    xorg-server-1.9.0-1  xterm-262-1
Tried reinstalling nvidia, but no help there.  Reverting to the previous packages made things good again.
    Anyone else experiencing this?

I can confirm nVidia's driver version '260.19.06'  fixes this render lag.
This version is available in the AUR
remember to exit xorg and remove the old module after installing

  • CD Install: Can't load tod module

Seems like it only happens on Sun Fire Server.
I am using hyperterminal for the installation.
This is the error message I keep getting:
    Executing last command: boot cdrom
Boot device: /pci@1f,0/ide@d/cdrom@3,0:f File and args:

    ok
    Any suggestion would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi
I've only seen this on Netra servers. The problem is down to the hardware revision of Solaris that
you are using and the processor speed on the host.
You need to use an "Operating Environment" CD that should have come with your server if you
are building the server with an early version of Solaris 8. Use this CD first to "boot cdrom", it will then ask you for some basic info after which, it will prompt you for the original Solaris CDs that you have.
Probably the best solution ( and you don't have to use the Operating Environment CD) is to use the last revision of Solaris 8 which I think is 2/02.

  • [Solved] php 5.2.0-1+lighttpd+mysql: Can't load mysql module

I'm using php 5.2.0-1, lighttpd 1.4.12-1, mysql 5.0.26-1, libmysqlclient 5.0.26-1 and php-cgi 5.1.6-1 on server and phpMyAdmin says that php can't load mysql module, other websites doesn't have any connection to mysql database too. I've checked php.ini - mysql.so and mysqli.so is uncommented. Only one thing helps - reverting to php 5.1.6-2.

Compiled, installed and it works Thanks

  • (Can't load tod module) Program terminated ?

    Hi
I have a NetraX1 500 mhz, and i reinstalled Solaris 8. Now when I boot up I get this error:
    Executing last command: boot
Boot device: disk File and args:
    SunOS Release 5.8 Version Generic_108528-07 64-bit

Does anyone know what is wrong here?
    Thanks

he Netra X1 won't even boot from the image, with a "can't load tod module"
    error.
A fresh jumpstart image with the latest mis.netra-x1.....zip file does
work. The latest zip file is named mis.netra-x1.259-3836-03.zip .
The way to access them is to start with http://www.sun.com/netra , click
on NETRA SOLUTIONS in the table, click on Sun Solutions, and then Software

  • Can't load tod module

I have just cloned a Solaris 8 system onto a V240 using jumpstart - the installation worked fine, but on reboot I get this error message:
    Rebooting with command: boot
Boot device: disk File and args:
    SunOS Release 5.8 Version Generic_108528-18 64-bit
Copyright 1983-2001 Sun Microsystems, Inc. All rights reserved.
(Can't load tod module) Program terminated
    {0} ok
    Any help would be appreciated.

That looks like a generic message that indicates you have the wrong version of Solaris 8 loaded. Minimum for V240 is Solaris 8 12/02.
cd to the JumpStart directory on you server and do a "more" or "cat" on the release file
    example: more Solaris8/Product/SUNWsolnm/reloc/etc/release

  • Automatically build kernel module after kernel update

Hello. Everytime kernel is updated, my wifi drivers don't work. I need to use this to get my adapter working: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/8192cu-dkms/ .
After kernel update, I have to manually reinstall the package, so the kernel module gets rebuilt. Is there any way to make it automatic?

I noticed it, but your script doesn't run at all when I type `mkinitcpio -p linux`. And wifi still works after reboot. Same for graphics driver, it has a hook at shutdown, that rebuilds its module after kernel update, it haven't run too and graphics driver works. It's like 'mkinitcpio -p linux' does nothing to the system.

I am on an iMac6,1 and on OS 10.5.8 and I want to upgrade the OS. Can I load Lion on my machine, and how do I go about doing it.. I have everything backed up.

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
OS 10.6 Snow Leopard is once again available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
To use iCloud you have to upgrade at least to Lion, but some functions are only available in Mountain Lion:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759
You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:

How can I clear a form after submitting and saving the data in the iOS Acrobat Reader App

    Darrell,
Thanks for this response. After I posted mine, I saw that the resetForm JavaScript method is documented as being supported starting with version 10.5: http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Mobile/js.html
But I haven't been able to get it to work. Can you clarify if support was indeed added and if it works for you?

My computer froze during match initial formatting.  Now some songs are uploaded others are "greyed out."  If I go song by song, I can update match.  How can I do this all at once and also update album art?

    Hi gdogk,
If there was an interruption during the initial iTunes Match process and you are now having issues with playback and album art, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful. In particular, you may want to turning iTunes Match off, then back on again, as noted here:
If iTunes Match is already enabled on your computer or device, try turning iTunes Match off and then on again.
Mac: While holding down the option key, choose Store > Turn Off iTunes Match.
Turn iTunes Match on by selecting Store > Turn On iTunes Match.
Windows: While holding down the shift key, choose Store > Turn Off iTunes Match.
Turn iTunes Match on by selecting Store > Turn On iTunes Match.

  • [SOLVED] Can't load this module??

Ok, I discovered why I have no eth0 device. I have an
Nvidia MCP61 Ethernet card, according to lscpi -v
    and no associated "Kernel" modules.
The necessary Ethernet driver for that Nvidia card is forcedeth
    however
    # modprobe forcedeth
    FATAL: Module forcedeth not found.
but if I perform a systemwide find..
    I get
    /usr/lib/modules/3.6.2-1-ARCH/kernel/drivers/net/ethernet/nvidia/forcedeth.ko.gz
but according to 'man modprobe' the modprobe program looks in the /lib/modules/'uname -r' directory
    and when I run
    # uname -r
    3.5.6-1-ARCH
I can cleary see why modprobe didn't work since according to the previous "find" there is no "forcedeth" in that directory.
    so I tried
    # modprobe -S 3.6.2-1-ARCH
    Error: missing parameters. See -h.
to tell modprobe to search in that directory instead, but despite different variations I couldn't change the version sucessfully.
So instead I tried copying the "forcedeth.ko.gz" to the /lib/modules/3.5.6-1-ARCH directory
and I still haven't been able to "modprobe" it, even with full pathname and force option provided.
So, in summation, I had the driver in the wrong directory according to 'uname -r' and thus I couldn't
load it. I tried to manually give modprobe a different kernel version, without sucess, and have tried
copying forcedeth.ko.gz to the directory which corresponded to /lib/modules/'uname -r'.
I guess I need to either
    - upgrade the kernel without an internet connection?
    - sucessfully modprobe forcedeth despite the kernel version conflict?
    - maybe throw a symbolic link somewhere?
    - give an explicit option  to define a full path in a config file?
    - do something with mkinitcpio that can specify that module and boot into that ramdisk?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, since I don't know how else to load the module.
If any other info on my system might give a lead, I'd be more than happy to provide it. Thanks. I'm almost there...

ok, did and done. (However, note that this isn't raw code since I have to type from display of the monitor to the laptop.)
    # file /boot/vmlinuz-linux
    /boot/vmlinuz-linux: Linux kernel x86 boot executable bzImage, version 3.6.2-1-ARCH (tobias@T=POWA-LX) #1 SMP PREMPT Fri Oct 12 23:58, RO-rootFS, swap_dev 0x3, Normal VGA
According to file, I do have the latest kernel, which makes this even more peculiar since it isn't consistent with 'uname -r'
    3.5.6-1-ARCH
and I'm using grub legacy, I think.
