Can't login with Mavericks

I've installed Mavericks today and everything went fine.
When I've rebooted my Mac Book Pro, I was prompted for my password and it said it was wrong. Since I was sure I had typed it right, I suspected that the logical keyboard at login time was not aligned with my physical keyboard (which is Portuguese Standard).
So I've typed my password as if I was using a US keyboard, and I could login.
Has anyone had the same issue? Do you know how to configure Mavericks to have your physical keyboard activated at login tme?

Chloe, what Avenging describes is a way to verify the settings and then one command line command (you knowm, what us nerds use to effiiciently use computers - without a mouse) to fix the issue. While it is always advisable to know what you're doing, you can blindly copy the command and hope it fixes the problem.
The "defaults read" part is basically the "hmm, what is the setting currently". It is to verify so you make sure you don't screw up. Of course, you probably can't do much with that information.
The "fix" is the final command, namely:
sudo cp ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.HIToolbox.plist /Library/Preferences/
sudo => Run as "super user", the user that can do everything and anything on the machine. This will prompt your password if you have one
cp => "copy", this command tells the computer to copy a file A to a file B
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.HIToolbox.plist => A certain file that is in your home folder tilde => home folder). It basically is the setting for you. Other users can have different settings. If your system works as expected under your user, this file is most likely what you want.
/Library/Preferences/ => The location of system-wide settings. These are the settings used in the configuration screen. The graphical interface doesn't allow you to change them for some reason (that's the bug!). We want to change them.
So, basically: copy the settings from my users to be system wide. That's what the line say.
Now, where do you type this? That is simple. You look for a program called "Terminal". I think (I'm not on my wife Mac right now), that you find it in Applications -> Tools (Utilities?)
It will open up a scary white window with only text in it. The last text will look something like:
ChloesMac: ~$
After the dollar sign you need to type the line: "sudo cp ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.HIToolbox.plist /Library/Preferences/" and press return and hope we didn't screw up anything.
If that's done, close the scary window and reboot your machine and see if it fixed it.
It's the best nerd <-> human translation I can do.

Can't login with opera?

Hi, since the end of last week I can't login with Opera. I just get 500 internal server error.
Login with FF works, but FF doesn't remember forum password (and I know others have the same problem). Could you please fix that rather that opera login :-)

Try this (from a post i made a while ago):
To log in easily, go to the login page, view source, and look for the following INPUT field: site2pstoretoken
Then, construct a URL as follows: https://login.oracle.com/sso/auth?site2pstoretoken=<site2pstoretoken>&ssousername=<login email>&password=<password>
In FF, not in IE, it seems that old tokens work. So, after logging out the old token can be used: https://login.oracle.com/sso/auth?site2pstoretoken=<site2pstoretoken>

Can't Login With Network Account After Upgrade To Yosemite Server 4

I've been putting off this troubleshooting for a while now, and after trying everything I could find, decided to post.
- After upgrading my server to Yosemite with Server 4, and my MacBook to Yosemite, I can no longer login with any network accounts.
- I was on clean installs of Mavericks before the upgrade.
- I'm using SSL for the OD, with a GoDaddy cert, the same one that was working on Mavericks.
- I've tried removing the laptop's binding using the Users and Groups preferences dialog, which does not remove the laptop's entry from Open Directory, so I manually deleted the record on the server.
- I then choose to Join again, and it looks as though everything goes through, but I still cannot login with a network account. Also, when rejoining, it does not create a binding on the server.
- If I use the Directory Utility->Services->LDAPv3, and add it that way, entering the FQDN and checking Encrypt..., Use for auth and Use for contacts, it asks me for the directory admin username and password, and does in fact create the binding on the server, but I still cannot login. What's strange about that method, is that it forces the use of the IP address of the server, rather than the FQDN, like I entered it, which would of course have problems, because the certificate's common name is the server's FQDN. It does not allow me to change from using the IP address, graying out that field.
- I've also tried destroying the OD and restoring from archive to no avail.
It looks like many users have hit dead ends with this, with some having success by completely formatting and setting up a new iteration of the server, but I will not be doing that. However, I'll be happy to try any other suggestions.

     Okay, I've finally resolved the issue, thanks to the Apple Enterprise tech support team. I'm thinking they wouldn't mind if I share this information, but I can't guarantee that this will work on your system or, worse yet, degrade your system further. However, that's fairly unlikely, just make sure you have plenty of backups before you begin any troubleshooting session.
     So I was told to perform the following instructions, which I did, line for line. The part about closing Server.app seems a given, but I'm not sure why they want you to open Server.app at the the end (maybe taken out of context from some other instructions?). I did it anyway, but you should be able to begin testing, on a client workstation, right after rekerberizing is complete. I did, however, need to reboot my client, login as local admin, and then binding would proceed, and network users are able to login again. The engineer also let me know to expect an error, something like the following: "2015-03-11 21:58:38 +0000 Error synchronizing removal of attribute draft-krbPrincipalACL from record 72519e4c-7ac7-15e4-bd42-10adb1944cbc: 77013 result: 16 No such attribute" - this is apparently normal, and did in fact happen in my experience.
So here's the fix:
- Quit Server.app (don’t just close the window)
- On the Open Directory Server, execute these Terminal commands:
- sudo mkdir /var/db/openldap/migration/
- sudo touch /var/db/openldap/migration/.rekerberize
- sudo slapconfig -firstboot
- Open Server.app
And that's it. I did nothing else on my OD server, just logged out. Immediately tried binding on my MacBook client, it failed, I rebooted, tried again, it worked quickly, and I'm able to login with network user accounts again.

Apple tv 2 problem: I can not login with my ID account!!!!!

apple tv does not login with my ID! Do you have a solution? Since a few weeks I can not login in with my password...
I tried everything:
- re-starting apple tv.
- login on macbook with my apple ID with new password

Signal Strengh on WiFi was great (its a new Apple Time Capsule and has to be reset often). Checked the internet connectivity on other machines too (incase that was inop). I checked the network first as that is typically a impediment to all other things working prior to my previous comment. I logged in to iTunes and MobleMe to see that my password was correct and working. hmmm.
I reset the Apple TV next and again changed my iTunes password on my laptop, then ran a network test (which needs a itunes password to work). Network check was successful and I am logged back in.
Now it says...."Netflix is currently unavailable. Try again later".
geez.

Can't login with my Apple-ID!

i've got a problem.
By loggin in with my Apple-ID in iTunes it failes and says that i can't connect with iTunes. My internet works and my sis is able to login with here Apple-ID on the same pc...
I reinstalled iTunes, but this didn't help.
Please help me!
I hope you understand my bad english. I'm not from England and so on...

Here is how I got around this iTunes bug...
What happens: You make a purchase in iTunes then listen to it, and go back to the store afterwards to make another purchase, iTunes will keep asking for your password, over and over and over and over, never stopping.
Workaround: You have to close out iTunes, open it back up, then make the purchase, it will work fine.

Mac Mini Snow Leopard Server - can't login with admin account

SO....i was having problems setting up network accounts from my mac Mini Server. I took it to the Apple Genius bar one night after work to get some help on why the login screen appears for Other..but could not login into any of the accounts I created.
They made an appt for me for the next morning since they had a "guy" that could help the next morning.
When I got there for my second appt..they said they don't support server issues. Only consumer products..I though the server WAS and i WAS a consumer of their products..so..they gave me a number of a consultant..of course..for pay...
So later that day I was trying some other configurations....the power came out while I was checking a monitor cable..and when I restarted I couldn't login to the master admin account.
Since mac mini server doesn't have a DVD drive..you have to boot up with their Server DVD from another computer and the Server installs it through airport.
So I did the boot up via airport from the server install DVD.
Did the Utility disk repair AND password changed. Got some error about not being to able to login if I don't change the keychains to the account.
Rebooted the server.
It didn't work.
So now stuck with a login window..and NO ACCESS to change anything.
HELP!!!!

You can access to system with root account.
If you didn't enable before, boot from SLS DVD and activate from menu (after choose language).
After that, reset all the passwords (there is a menu to do that).
After that exit from installer and reboot.
At login screen you can try to login with your user and new/blank password.
If it fails, you have to login with user root and the password you choose before.
With root user, you can access to all system, be very carefull.
Now you can create a new user and import all the files (you have to do a little work with permissions)

Can you help with Mavericks Mail quirks?

My Mail difficulties started with Mavericks OS. I can send and receive. Can you help me with any of the following:
1. Lower left on screen may show many incoming mails (as high as 60), whereas I expect and get fewer thaan 10 per session.
2. Lower left on screen may show outgoing mails, 3-10, again and again, when Mail opens when in fact there are no unsent messages.
3. Mail in my sent box may appear marked as unread just as it would in the in box. If I click to open, they no longer appear as unread. This is not consistent, and seems unrelated to whether the recipient has opened them.
4. Rules roll my gmail account into Mail. However, when Mail opens, I am asked for my gmail password.
5. I had a bcc with name of recipient show up on header of sent mail! I have quit using bcc.
6. Is it possible to re-install Mail? Maybe just a new installation of Mail would take care of it. VBerg, Cape Coral, FL

To get a new copy of Mail, you'd have to re-install the OS, which can be done by boorting into the Recovery Volume (command - R at startup).

http auth is used with the http protocol. email doesn't use the http protocol.
If you can use POP or IMAP to connect to your Exchange server and login,
you can probably use JavaMail to do that.

Can't Login with the User Administrator or the User root

Today i Download the tarantella secure global desktop version 4.2.977 when finish say i can login with the username Administrator and the password of root but i can login only give me again the windows to enter username and password what can i do with this

I'm trying to access my courses from the openSAP IOS App. I can login with any desktop browser using the same credentials but there is no login possible in the app Any ideas what is going wrong?

Due to the system upgrade this week, the iOS app needs to be updated also. The team are currently finalizing the app and it will be available soon. You can continue to complete the course with a browser on your iPad until the updated app is available.

SCN isn't allowing me to login (SSO) using some URLs, but it is others.
For example I can login using http://scn.sap.com/welcome
but I can't login using http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/Business+Intelligence?original_fqdn=wiki.sdn.sap.com
I don't think its a client side issue. Can you help please?

Can't login with gdm and get error message

Hey, I had an arch install up and running last night. I was tinkering with gnome themes, and installed a bunch and eventually tried to mess with the login screen. I installed something, I think like gnome-settings-manager or something like that, and it basically never worked. I tried to change the login BG and some stuff, but couldn't do it, the program would freeze.
About an hour later, I realized chrome wouldn't run, and I had to use the default browser. I restarted and then when I logged back in, I have a black login screen with an error that says "Install Problem: the configuration defaults for gnome power manager have not been installed correctly please contact your computer administrator."
When I try to login, it starts like it's going to work, but then brings me back to the same screen.
So basically I can't login at the moment, I tried pacman -Runs gnome gdm gnome-setting-manager gamin gksu
and then pacman -S gnome gdm gksu gamin
but that still gives me the same screen.
Any ideas where to go from here?
Edit: Decided to install KDE as a workaround, I'll see where that gets me, opening a new thread as my root partition is now full... and IDK how to fix that atm

Just my 2 cents, seeing that nobody is replying...
You could try to create another user and see if it works well, just to understand if it's a problem in the user configuration files, or in the system configuration.
If the new user works well you could try to import your config files from your /home/user/ folder one by one and see which one messes up everything.
If the new user has the same problems, it's a more serious problem, maybe you could try to remove packages one by one (pacman -Rscn package), starting from the last one you installed (you can list packages by installation date using yaourt -Qe --date) until it works again (taking care of not removing essential packages).
