TextArea Display Only?

I would like to have an item type of Textarea(auto-height) which is Display only. When I condition the item to Display only it displays it as Text item. No multi-line.
Any suggestions?

Am Apex newbie using 4.0.1 on Vista laptop with Oracle XE to develop app for later prod useage.
Have got 2 textareas in my page side side by side.
Textarea1 shows current progress on an issue. User enters text into textarea2 iro some progress thats been made.
They hit Apply Changes / Submit and there's a page computation which takes stores the orig textarea1 text + :APP_USER + CURRENT_TIMESTAMP + new_text in the database.
Works fine but ideally would want textarea1 to be behave nicely i.e be scrollable etc BUT not allow the user to amend the text in there .. I want any user upds to be simple appends of any text entered in the second textarea.
If I change the textarea1 to display only .. it doesn't display with scroll bars .. if I keep as a text area but disable it then the scroll bars don't work. Is there any way to do this ? This would be my preferred approach.
Was thinking about even resorting to a single textarea and trying to see if I could prefix any appended text in this textarea with timestamp and user at client side via Javascript ?

Just an additional note on jari's answer.
That still doesn't prevent users from dragging and dropping text on to the text feild. You cannot prevent your users from modifying values using JS(if your users are smart enough for that) unless they are protected(which is why you need such a feature in the first place).
So its always a good idea to use some kind of additional validation in PLSQL to be on the safe side.

Did you check the Zoom setting?
Have you tried a reset (reboot)? Hold HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears.
If it isn't Zoom and a reboot doesn't help try Settings/General/Reset - Reset all settings

Is it possible to display only dynamically selected fields in the out put?

Is it possible to display only dynamically selected fields in the out put? i need to display set of columns in the selection criteria, but in the output i have display only input given fields. because i need to convert it into .csv file. So i have to display selected fields from internal table. In oracle they are using"execute immediate". is there any equivalent in SAP?

Are you talking about dynamic programming in ABAP ?
If yes, there are concepts like RTTS which facilitates it.
Yes, the select query also supports dynamic selection of fields. ( Please care about ( ) in dynamic sql ).
Do more research on Field Symbols and statements like ASSIGN COMPONENT OF.

Crystal report displays only few pages,

Hello,
We have problem with crystal report preview option. Basically its a cross tab report and when we have a preview it displays only two pages. Even though we have 40 pages worth data.
When we export to PDF we see all pages of data. If we print directly from crystal only 2 pages gets printed.

Display only/Grey out Delivery Schedule tab in the PO

We are not going to use Delivery Schedule tab at all. Business wants us to Grey out the delivery schedule tab. Is it possible to make all fields under Delivery Schedule as display only? If yes, how can I do that? But, I don't want PO line qty to be grayed out.
Fields like, delivery date, scheld qty, stat.del date etc.

you better convince your business to wait for a couple months and then rethink this requirement.
You may not have the full understanding yet and have not made a lot experience.
in this tab you can add further requisitions to your PO item, you can close requisitions in case you order less than a requisition, you have to change the statistical delivery date in some case when you are using vendor evaluation, you may have to split the order quantity into several delivery dates if your vendor informs you that he cannot supply you at one time with all quantity.
Just to save you money that you may spend into a development which has to be turned off a little later.

Hello Tim, would barely fit in this situation since this code resides on the client’s interaction side of things. I’d recommend using JavaScript for this matter, e.g. var Data_FName1 = document.getElementById(‘Data_FName1’).value;. If you still opt for using CFML, then you’d go for proxying your JavaScript code to a CFC.

How to set Display Only for some records in CAT2 Worklist

Hi,
I have a requirement to modify an attributes for some records in the Worklist of CAT2.
We have an external system where we book our time. Weekly we import data from that external system into CATSDB using BAPI for every single employee.
We would like when the user wants to modify his time sheet to be able to add/modify all records except those which were imported from the external system. Which means that those records should be in Display only mode / grayed out / before release.
Is there any user exit or BADI that could help to modify that attribute and that will be triggered before displaying the Worklist ?

I've solved the problem.
First I've added customer field in CI_CATSDB structure and when I am importing the data I am populating that field with 'X', which means that this is record from the external application.
I've created enhancement implementation in Function group->CATS, screen->2003 MODULE->D2000_MODIFY_LOOP, subroutine->modify_d2000_loop where I am checking the field mentioned above if it is 'X' I am modifying the screnn-output = off.

This is one of those things that I find really strange about Numbers 3. The control for what you want to do is not where anyone would expect to find it.
Select the Chart
Click on Edit Data References
Look at the bottom left corner of the Numbers window. It should say "Plot Columns as Series" or "Plot Rows as Series"
Click on it and change it to the other

Input ready query and display only rows

I am trying to replicate scenario which is equivalent to creating manual layout in SEM-BPS with settings for layout category - Key Figures in Data columns, and rows defined individually. In this version it is possible to restrict certain rows as comparision only.
How can I acheive this using Input ready query? In my query I have created a strucure for Planning Items, but I am not able to show certain planning item selections as display only.
Any thoughts?

I already have two structures as mentioned by you.
Can you please let me know what exactly you meant by set the input flag on the cell level? What settings I have to change to set the flag, do I have to use any formula? In my example I have three rows for Planning item row structure and I want only one row to be selected as display only row.

SE93. Enter a transaction name. Create. In the pop up enter a title and select 'Transaction with parameters'.
Next screen fill the following;
Transaction 'SM30'
Check 'Skip first screen'
In the table control at the bottom of the screen
Name of screen field 'VIEWNAME'
Value <your table name>
Name of screen field 'SHOW'
Value 'X'
Save.
Job done.

Displaying diff dates using PL/SQL expression for 'display only' item ?

I am having a display only item -- :P2_FROM_Date . If its Thu,Fri,Sat or Sun I want to set the date as the last Monday's date . If its Mon,Tue or Wed then it should be the present Monday's date .
E.g: Today is Friday and the last Monday was on 18th .
So for yesterday , today,tomorrow and Sunday , the date should be displayed as 18-JUN-2012.
From the coming Monday to Wednesday , the date should of be the coming Monday i.e , 24-JUN-2012
I tried it doing under 'Source ' of item using PL/SQL expression and PL/SQL function body. Not working
Can someone help ?

I have a list with almost 10000 items. I have a view that should be returning 8 items. For me, the Farm Admin, I see the full set of expected values. The message "Displaying only the newest results below. To view all results, narrow your query by
adding a filter" shows for other users. This makes no sense -
there ARE filters on this view. I'd rather not increase the throttle limit.

Check that the list is not scoped by an audience; but, I'm afraid that either way admin, (e.g. non Farm admin or site collection admin)
I'd recommend exporting to excel, create two new spreadsheets and then import as custom lists.
