Can´t mount OCFS2 file system after Public IP modify

Guys,
We have an environment with 2 nodes with RAC database version 10.2.0.1. We need to modify the Public IP and VIP of the Oracle CRS. So we did the following steps:
- Alter the VIP
srvctl modify nodeapps -n node1 -A 192.168.1.101/255.255.255.0/eth0
srvctl modify nodeapps -n node2 -A 192.168.1.102/255.255.255.0/eth0
- Alter the Public IP
oifcfg delif -global eth0
oifcfg setif -global eth0/192.168.1.0:public
- Alter the IP´s of the network interfaces
- Update the /etc/hosts
When we start the Oracle CRS, the components starts OK. But when we reboot the second node, the OCFS2 file system didn´t mount. The following errors occurs:

When we did the command to force the mount occurs the errors:

What occurs is that the OCFS2 is trying to connect with the older Public IP. My question is, how do i change the public IP in the ocfs2 ?

Hi, is correct you maybe check the /etc/cluster.conf file, maybe the configuration is wrong, you can also check the /etc/hosts file for verify the correct definition host names.
Luck
Have a good day.

  • After boot can't mount SDS file systems on 3300 mount: cannot mount /dev/md

    Hi
I have a SUNW,Netra-440 with two SE 3300 SCSI each with two controllers. The server was working fine but after a boot, it can not see the metadevices stored in the 3300.
I have tried restarting the SE3300 and a boot -r from ok prompt but I still can see those disks or partitions.

i can see the devices in /dev/md/appvol but i can't mount them.
Any ideas what this could be? using metaset shows nothing, metastat -s dbvol hangs.
Am I missing some patch or am I missing something here? is the SE3300 damaged? or is it a problem with SDS (solstice). I have solaris 9.
The system was working fine until we had to boot and power off to perform power tests in the rack.
    thanks

    Hi,
    thanks for your answer.
Yes format displays the physical devices, but metadb -i only shows the internal disks of the netra 440, not the ones in the 3320. metadb -s dbvol -i doesnt show anything.
metaset which is supposed to show me the metadevices, says the program is not registered.
cat /etc/lvm/md.tab has the configuration but since the scsi can be seen, the devices aren't mounted.
    Any suggestions?
    Cheers
    Oscar

  • Confusion with OCFS2 File system for OCR and Voting disk RHEL 5, Oracle11g,

    Dear all,
I am in the process of installing Oracle 11g 3 Node RAC database
The environment on which i have to do this implementation is as follows:
    Oracle 11g.
    Red Hat Linux 5 x86
    Oracle Clusterware
    ASM
    EMC Storage
    250 Gb of Storage drive.
    SAN
As of now i am in the process of installing Oracle Clusterware on the 3 nodes.
I have performed these tasks for the cluster installs.
    1. Configure Kernel Parameters
    2. Configure User Limits
    3. Modify the /etc/pam.d/login file
    4. Configure Operating System Users and Groups for Oracle Clusterware
    5. Configure Oracle Clusterware Owner Environment
    6. Install CVUQDISK rpm package
    7. Configure the Hosts file
    8. Verify the Network Setup
    9. Configure the SSH on all Cluster Nodes (User Equivalence)
    9. Enable the SSH on all Cluster Nodes (User Equivalence)
    10. Install Oracle Cluster File System (OCFS2)
11.Verify the Installation of Oracle Cluster File System (OCFS2)
    12. Configure the OCFS2 (/etc/ocfs2/cluster.conf)
    13. Configure the O2CB Cluster Stack for OCFS2
BUT, here after i am a little bit confused on how to proceed further. The next step is to Format the disk and mount the OCFS2, Create Software Directories... so and so forth.
I asked my system admin to provide me two partitions so that i could format them with OCFS2 file system.
He wrote back to me saying.
*"Is what you want before I do it??*
    */dev/emcpowera1 is 3GB and formatted OCFS2.*
    */dev/emcpowera2 is 3GB and formatted OCFS2.*
*Are those big enough for you? If not, I can re-size and re-format them*
*before I mount them on the servers.*
*the SAN is shared storage. /dev/emcpowera is one of three LUNs on*
*the shared storage, and it's 214GB. Right now there are only two*
*partitions on it- the ones I listed below. I can repartition the LUN any*
    *way you want it.*
*Where do you want these mounted at:*
    */dev/emcpowera1*
    */dev/emcpowera2*
*I was thinking if this mounting techique would work like so:*
    *emcpowera1: /u01/shared_config/OCR_config*
    *emcpowera2: /u01/shared_config/voting_disk*
*Let me know how you'd like them mounted."*
Please recommend me what i should convey to him so that i can ask him to the exact same thing.
My second question is, as we are using ASM, for which i am gonna configure ASM after clusterware installation, should i install Openfiler??
Pls refer the enviroment information i provided above and make recommendations.
As of now i am using Jeffery Hunters guide to install the entire setup. You think the entire install guide goes well with my enviroment??
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/hunter_rac11gr1_iscsi.html?rssid=rss_otn_articles
    Kind regards
    MK

    Thanks for ur reply Mufalani,
You have managed to solve half part of my query. But still i am stuck with what kind of mount point i should ask the system admin to create for OCR and Voting disk. Should i go with the mount point he is mentioning??
Let me put forth few more questions here.
    1. Is 280 MB ok for OCR and voting disks respectively??
    2. Should i ask the system admin to create 4 voting disk mount points and two for ocr??
    3. As mentioned by the system admin.
    */u01/shared_config/OCR_config*
    */u01/shared_config/voting_disk*
Is this ok for creating the ocr and voting disks?
    4. Can i use OCFS2 file system for formating the disk instead of using them as RAW device!!?
    5. As u mentioned that Openfiler is not needed for Configuring ASM... Could you provide me the links which will guide me to create partition disks, voting disks and ocr disks!! I could not locate them on the doc or else were. I did find a couple of them, but was unable to identify a suitable one for my envoirement.
    Regards
    MK

  • Ocfs2 can not mount the ocfs2 file system on RedHat AS v4 Update 1

    Hi there,
I installed ocfs2-2.6.9-11.0.0.10.3.EL-1.0.4-1.i686.rpm onto RedHat linux AS v4 update 1. Installation looks OK. And configure ocfs2 (At this stage i only added 1 node in the cluster), load and start accordingly. Then paritition the disk and mkfs.ocfs2 the partition. Everything seems OK.
    [root@node1 init.d]# ./o2cb status
    Module "configfs": Loaded
    Filesystem "configfs": Mounted
    Module "ocfs2_nodemanager": Loaded
    Module "ocfs2_dlm": Loaded
    Module "ocfs2_dlmfs": Loaded
    Filesystem "ocfs2_dlmfs": Mounted
    Checking cluster ocfs2: Online
    Checking heartbeat: Not active
But here you can check if the partition is there:
    [root@node1 init.d]# fsck.ocfs2 /dev/hda12
    Checking OCFS2 filesystem in /dev/hda12:
    label: oracle
    uuid: 27 74 a6 70 32 ad 4f 77 bf 55 8e 3a 87 78 ea cb
    number of blocks: 612464
    bytes per block: 4096
    number of clusters: 76558
    bytes per cluster: 32768
    max slots: 2
/dev/hda12 is clean. It will be checked after 20 additional mounts.
However, mount -t ocfs2 /dev/hda12 just does not work.
    [root@node1 oracle]# mount -t ocfs2 /dev/hda12 /oradata/m10g
mount.ocfs2: No such device while mounting /dev/hda12 on /oradata/m10g
    [root@node1 oracle]# mount -L oracle
    mount: no such partition found
Looks like mount just can not see the ocfs2 partition somehow.
I cannot find much info in metalink and anywhere else, does anyone here come across this issue before?
    Regards,
    Eric

I have been having a similar problem.
However, when I applied your fix I ended up with another problem:
    (20765,0):ocfs2_initialize_osb:1179 max_slots for this device: 4
    (20765,0):ocfs2_fill_local_node_info:851 I am node 0
    (20765,0):dlm_request_join:756 ERROR: status = -107
    (20765,0):dlm_try_to_join_domain:906 ERROR: status = -107
    (20765,0):dlm_join_domain:1151 ERROR: status = -107
    (20765,0):dlm_register_domain:1330 ERROR: status = -107
    (20765,0):ocfs2_dlm_init:1771 ERROR: status = -12
    (20765,0):ocfs2_mount_volume:912 ERROR: status = -12
    ocfs2: Unmounting device (253,7) on (node 0)
Now the odd thing about this bit of log output (/var/log/messages)
is the fact that this is only a 2 node cluster and only one node has
currently mounted the file system in question. Now, I am running
the multipath drivers with my qla2xxx drivers under SLES9-R2.
However, at worst that should only double everything
(2 nodes x 2 paths through the SAN).
How can I get more low level information on what is consuming
the node slots in ocfs2? How can I force it to "disconnect" nodes
    and recover/cleanup node slots?

  • Missing file system after installing in SSD

Missing file system after installing in SSD MacBook
    Hi All
I recently installed a SSD drive in my Macbook, I used the Disk Utility to clone the old HDD.
When i reboot the machine with the new disk I get the image of a folder with question mark.
If i reboot the machine again and hold the alt key at the chime I can see two disks.
One called SSD and another called Recovery.
if i choose the SSD the OS starts as normal and if i choose the recovery option and check the disk with disk utility
it tells me that everything is fine.
Any ideas how i can make the machine boot as it should without having to hold down the alt key a start up??

Hi i tried this and just got the big symbol of doom at start up.
However, a little terminal witchcraft did the trick!
sudo bless -mount /Volumes/"Macintosh HD" -setBoot

  • Does OCFS2 file system get fragmented

We are running Production & Testing RAC databases on Oracle 9.2.0.8 RAC on Red Hat 4.0 using OCFS2 for the cluster file system.
Every week we refresh our Test database by deleting the datafiles and cloning our Standby database to the Test database. The copying of the datafiles from the Standby mount points to the Test database mount points (same server), seems to be taking longer each time we do this.
My question is : can the OCFS2 file system become fragmented over time from the constant deletion & copying of the datafiles and if so is there a way to defragment it.
    Thanks
    John

    Hi,
I think it will get fragment if you constant deletion & copying of the datafiles on ocfs2.You can set the preferable block size and cluster size on the basis of actual applications, which can reduce the file fragments.

  • How can I transfer my files/system in VAIO laptop (w/ S400 Firewire port) to my New Macbook Pro?

How can I transfer my files/system in VAIO laptop (w/ S400 Firewire port) to my New Macbook Pro?
Do I need to buy an adapter? How do I setup the software to make these two system connected?

    r95941081 wrote:
Thanks for your answering. But the issue is that I'll often transfer a large amount files from PCs to the Macbook, and I'm explring the way to use firewire since there is indeed an i-S400 port in the VAIO laptop, and it's much faster.
USB 2 is faster than Firewire 400 and USB 3 is faster than Firewire 800
If it was another Mac you were transferring from then you could use Firewire Target Disk Mode which makes the boot drive of the old Mac appear on the desktop of the new Mac to rapidly copy files, but you have a Windows PC with no FWTDM capability.
So to connect the two machines requires a network be setup over Ethernet and mucking around with the complexities of all that and it still takes awhile to finish. One can't setup a network with a PC over USB or Firewire, only Firewire with another Mac.
You get a external USB drive, USB 3,2,1 is fine and just drag and drop copy, the machine does all the work and you go do something else until it's finished, then repeat the same with the Mac.
Fast simple and effective, let it copy overnight if you have too.
I routinely clone my entire hard drive via USB 2 and it only takes a hour and a half for 350GB.
By the time you figure out how to network a Mac and a PC over Ethernet and getting it work to transfer files, you could be done already via USB.

    Hi Robert,
did you actually add the OVS to the server pool, that you created?

  • Can I get my files back after emptying my trash

can I get my files back after emptying my trash

Try DataRescue3.    You can download a demo that will scan your drive and tell you what it finds.  If it finds deleted files that can be recovered, you can purchase the app and recover the files.   I have used it, and it works great.
Note: when you empty the trash, the files are not actually erased, the pointers to the files are simply deleted from the disk directory/catalog.  As long as the actual locations of the files are not overwritten by something new, the files are usually recoverable.  So, the best thing to do is not save anything new until you have recovered what you just deleted.
Further note: if you did Secure Empty Trash or Erase Free Space after deleting files, then the deleted files are actually overwritten with 0's and they are not recoverable.

  • Macbook 2012 Mid: Can't mount USB mass storage after upgrading to Mavericks

    Hi guys,
I'm having big problems with USB mass storages. After upgrading to Mavericks my Mac doesn't see some USB storage devices (mostly USB sticks and Android phone's memory cards via USB. My external USB 3.0 hard disks work fine) at all even though the devices themselves (for example my Android phone) are clearly recognized according to the System Report. When I plug them in, they don't show up on my Finder or on Disk Utility.
I've searched everywhere and it seems like some other people are having the same problem, none seems to offer a definite solution. I've even formatted my HD and reinstalled Mavericks from the recovery partition. Now it mounts a USB stick that was in one of the USB ports at the time of installation but still doesn't read anything else! The funny thing is when I boot into Windows 8 on my Boot Camp partition, I can mount any USB devices including the USB stick and the Android phone I'm having problems on Mavericks without any problems. I can even see then when I boot into the recovery so there's clearly something wrong with Mavericks.
Any chance someone has figured out a solution for this? Apple should've address this long time ago.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem? Note: If the devices are not in Mac OS X format, they normally won't mount in safe mode, but they should appear in Disk Utility.
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Can't mount .dmg files

I'm new to the Mac. I have "inherited" the machine I'm using from the prior users. It's running OS X 10.2. I have several .dmg files that I'd like to mount so that I can run the programs that they supposedly contain. So far I have succeeded in mounting these files ("volumes"?) only with the root (superuser) account. When I log out of that account, those volumes are gone, of course. I cannot mount these volumes with an "ordinary" admin account. When I try that, the system sort of "blinks" but nothing else happens. And the goal here is to give access to these programs to youngsters who will be using a non-admin account. My assumption here is that the problem lies with me -- not with the system.

I see that this thread has been going for several days so you may have already tried this, but I'll throw it out there just in case...
Occasionally (for me anyway) some part of the underlying mechanism that performs disk image mounting will just suddenly go south. I'll double-click a dmg file, it'll look like it's going to open but then nothing ever appears on the desktop. The only way to get it back in working order is to reboot...
... so if you haven't rebooted your machine recently try that and see if it makes any difference. If this doesn't help you might also want to use Disk Utility to do a "Repair Permissions" on your boot drive... it could be that a permission problem is not allowing the mounting tools to run for anyone except for root.
Upgrading to a more recent version of the OS is a good idea if you've got access to or the money for a newer version of the OS.
From what I understand about the wheel group it's basically more restrictive than the admin group. It's root's default group, but users with admin privileges are not in the wheel group (at least not in more recent versions of OS X). Use of the wheel group was slightly more prevalent in earlier versions of OS X and administrative users were members of both the admin group and the wheel group. But that's not true any more. Since at least 10.3 files with root/wheel ownership are typically those that admins can tinker with if they really need to but only after taking the additional step of using sudo to elevate their privileges.

  • I can't see WMV files in After Effects CC since I installed the AE patch 12.0.1

I downloaded yesterday the Mac update called Maverik (OS X 10.9) and also the After Effects patch 12.0.1 in order to open AE using Maverik as operative system (before downloading the AE patch was impåossible to open After Effects CC). The problem now is that I was able before to see and edit window media files in After Effects but now, when I open the project that I've been working on, After Effects shows an error "After Effects error: file xxxx.wmv cannot be imported - this wmv file is damaged or unsupported". I am pretty sure that all the wmv files are not damage as Iø'e been working on these files the last couple of months. Besides  I have imported again the same wmv files from colleagues who can see and edit these files in After Effects CC for PC.
Would you please advice me on this? Should I download a codec or Adobe will resolve this issue with the next update for After Effects CC?
    Thanks in advance
    Sebastian

Can you open your WMV files in QuickTime Player?
After Effects on Mac does not read WMV files natively. You probably have the Flip4Mac QuickTime components installed, which allows QuickTime to read WMV files, and through that AE can read WMV files.
My guess is that Flip4Mac is either having problems on your machine after the upgrade to Mavericks, or it is not compatible with Mavericks. I didn't see any notices on Telestream's site, so I would guess the former.

  • Problems mounting global file system

    Hello all.
I have setup a Cluster using two Ultra10 machines called medusa & ultra10 (not very original I know) using Sun Cluster 3.1 with a Cluster patch bundle installed.
When one of the Ultra10 machines boots it complains about being unable to mount the global file system and for some reason tries to mount the node@1 file system when it is actually node 2.
on booting I receive the message on the macine ultra10
Type control-d to proceed with normal startup,
(or give root password for system maintenance): resuming boot
If I use control D to continue then the following happens:
    ultra10:
    ultra10:/ $ cat /etc/cluster/nodeid
    2
    ultra10:/ $ grep global /etc/vfstab
    /dev/md/dsk/d32 /dev/md/rdsk/d32 /global/.devices/node@2 ufs 2 no global
    ultra10:/ $ df -k | grep global
    /dev/md/dsk/d32 493527 4803 439372 2% /global/.devices/node@1
    medusa:
    medusa:/ $ cat /etc/cluster/nodeid
    1
    medusa:/ $ grep global /etc/vfstab
    /dev/md/dsk/d32 /dev/md/rdsk/d32 /global/.devices/node@1 ufs 2 no global
    medusa:/ $ df -k | grep global
    /dev/md/dsk/d32 493527 4803 439372 2% /global/.devices/node@1
Does anyone have any idea why the machine called ultra10 of node ID 2 is trying to mount the node ID 1 global file system when the correct entry is within the /etc/vfstab file?
    Many thanks for any assistance.

Hmm, so for arguments sake, if I tried to mount both /dev/md/dsk/d50 devices to the same point in the filesystem for both nodes, it would mount OK?
I assumed the problem was because the device being used has the same name, and was confusing the Solaris OS when both nodes tried to mount it. Maybe some examples will help...
My cluster consists of two nodes, Helene and Dione. There is fibre-attached storage used for quorum, and website content. The output from scdidadm -L is:
    1 helene:/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0 /dev/did/rdsk/d1
    2 helene:/dev/rdsk/c0t1d0 /dev/did/rdsk/d2
    3 helene:/dev/rdsk/c4t50002AC0001202D9d0 /dev/did/rdsk/d3
    3 dione:/dev/rdsk/c4t50002AC0001202D9d0 /dev/did/rdsk/d3
    4 dione:/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0 /dev/did/rdsk/d4
    5 dione:/dev/rdsk/c0t1d0 /dev/did/rdsk/d5
This allows me to have identical entries in both host's /etc/vfstab files. There are also shared devices under /dev/global that can be accessed by both nodes. But the RAID devices are not referenced by anything from these directories (i.e. there's no /dev/global/md/dsk/50). I just thought it would make sense to have the option of global meta devices, but maybe that's just me!
    Thanks again Tim! :D

  • 10.4.4: Can't mount .dmg files or access iDisk
