Can't open my project file???????

So I was working all day yesterday on a project and now this mornign when I wake up I go to open my project file and all it says is "Can't open 'Mel's Spec'" ... Mel's Spec" being the file name.
I get another error that says:
An Unexpected problem
CNSExceptionWrapper
type = 16777217, error= -50, message=error
Could not set channel map.
Thats what it says, anyone got any idea what I should do.... There is a whole day's work in this project file.

Hey, Interesting little update....
So I installed soundtrack pro on my much older Powerbook g5 and it kept telling me I need at least 1gb ram when that comp has 512mb... anyway, iw as just installing it to see if the project file can run...
ANYWAY.... I installed STP and the project file opens just fine... I mean... My computer is to slow to handle the program bt at least I can take it far enough to see that the program opens my project file...
SO I was wondering if this piece of info helps....
I'm thinking I should reinstall STP but am wodnering the best way to do that... like will i still be okay with the same product key i used last time? Its not a "USE ONCE" kind of thing is it? (I mean i used it for the powerbook)...
Also... Is there a better way of uninstalling it than just dragging the icon in the trash? cause that never seemed right to me.
And Can I just reinstall the program with out all the extra audio content?
Thanks for your help.

Then this morning I can't open my project file.  I get this message: The project appears to be damaged, it cannot be opened.
    What should I do!??
I  have moved my project onto 2 different external hard-drives now.

    Hi There,
After looking around for this error, it seems to be related to OS, we would recommend you to contact Apple support for this.

  • Can't open fcp project file - fcp not responding

starts to open project but gets to 23% and freezes fcp...project is being stored on a lacie 250gig protable hd with firewire. never had this issue after tons of work. tried going to a autosave version but tried several and they freeze up fcp
any ideas short of moving all the media to another drive and starting a new project (I was just about to start cutting this project today).

    Welcome to the forum!
Post the version of FCP you're running.
Try opening a new project file, then importing the captured clips into it... might fix this... If you trash your preferences for FCP found in the user/library/preferences/FCP User data folder, you can just click on the application and it won't try to open the last project file.
Can you open earlier project files OK?

  • Can't open Zend Project files using Zend Studio

    Hi there,
I've been in contact with Zend about this issue but they assure me that they don't have this problem with their Mac's and no other Mac user has reported this fault.
So here I am asking in the only other logical place I can think of.
Basically I want to double click on a Zend Project File (.zpf) and have it open in Zend Studio.
The first time I tried setting the desired application to ZDE.app it came up with an unknown error I think it was -10814? And each subsequent time I try to open the project file I get Zend Studio telling me it is an unrecognized file type.
If you could give me any suggestions or leads to follow I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thank you for your time,
    Ant

HI webchalk and Welcome to Apple Discussions ...
Ok, when you say you tried setting the desired application to ZDE.app ... have you tried this?
To open a document with a specific application:
In the Finder, select the document and choose File > Get Info.
In the Info window, click to show the "Open with" pane.
Choose the application you want to use from the pop-up menu.
If you want all documents that have the same file type as this one to open with the same application, click Change All.

  • Can I Open RH5 project file in RH10?

I don't like registration of all kinds until I took an RH arrow in the knee. XDD
    Here's my scenario:
My colleague created a project in RH5 long time ago and now she's handing over the project to me.
I copied the whole robo source files folder to my local disk and tried to open it in RH10. Then error saying .cpd file might be corrupt so that RH cannot load the data from the database. I know .cpd file is the cache file for a RH project, right? It's created/overwritten every time you open the RH project. Then I figured, maybe I should delete the .cpd file(as it might be created in RH5 in her machine) before I open it in RH10?
Also, I've tried to open the same project file in RH5(I have RH5 and RH10 installed in the same OS:Win 7). It worked for the first time, with lots of errors of broken links and reference links but failed for the second time, right after I opened that project in RH10. (You might will want to doubt if RH5 is executable in Win 7, I thought it should be but it turned out it is, which is amazing...)
    So..here're the questions:
    1. Do RH5 and RH10 coexist in Win 7?  Some said they don't..
    2. Should I delete the .cpd file created in lower version of RH before I open the project created in RH of lower version(say, RH5) in RH of higher version(in this case, RH10)?
    3. Can RH10 open the project created in RH5? I know the project created in RH of lower version will be converted in some way when it's opened in RH of higher version. Anyone practiced this successfully?
    Thank you!

It proves that X5 can be opened. It does not prove it will work properly in all respects. Also webhelp will likely have issues with some browsers. In other words and to answer your question, both can be on the same machine but that does not mean both will work as designed.
Rh8 could be used with Windows 7 when Rh8 was released, except bits broke until it was patched so the chances of X5 are rather low.
MS Access is not needed on your machine as the CPD is a runtime database. There's no point messing with it, leave Rh to recreate it.

  • How can you open a project file backup if the main project won't load?

This has only started happening in the last couple of weeks. I'm on Logic 10.0.7, OSX 10.8.5. On one particular project, it will be loading seemingly normally, then it just disappears with no crash log, nothing.
Presumably there is some sort of corruption in the project file.
In the old pre package days, you would just go to the project file backups folder and pick a previous one. Bingo, you have only lost a little bit of work.
Now when I show package contents, the project file backups folder has project data files that won't open logic, and are invisible until you have logic open. Which I can't do.
Rue the day I selected the package option rather than folder.
    Any suggestions?
Or to put the question another way, how can I convert the project data in the project file backups folder to a file that Logic can recognise and open?

Having his install the trial is the way to go. Working between AI versions is a pain and as you are finding out almost impossible with 5 versions between the collaborators.

  • Can't Open CC project file in CS6

I edited my videos in Adobe Premiere Pro CC, but I can't open the CC project file in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. The message says 'The project appears to be damaged, it cannot be opened.' Is there a way to convert the project so that it works for CS6?

So how did you open it?
I downloaded your file: "from-CC.prproj" (link in post 10).
I duplicated the Project and renamed it: "from-CC_Version23_CS5".
I opened the file in Dreamweaver, and changed '26' to '23', then saved:
I opened the altered file "from-CC_Version23_CS5" in CS5.0.3.
On opening in CS5.0.3, I got this error message:
    I clicked "OK".
The Project opens asking for location of "Video-Frame-White-Test.jpg".
    I clicked "Offline".
The Project opened, and Sequence Properties are [email protected]:
I replaced your .jpg with a stock clip:
I saved the file in CS5.0.3, then exited.
Then I opened and renamed the saved file in CS6.0.5:
    note:
I was unable to alter the 'Version Number" to from '26' to '25'
and open the Project directly into CS6.0.5:

  • Can't open MS Project File

I got the following error message: "Project cannot open the file.
Project files saved in a version earlier than MS Project 98 can't be opened...."
I get the same error message when I try to open the file in MSP 2003 and MSP 2007.
Has anyone get any ideas what has happened to this file?
    Many thanks.

Reads like a corruption. Was the file connected to a resource pool or master plan or linked to other files in any way?
    Also take a look at-
    http://www.filerepairforum.com/forum/microsoft/microsoft-aa/project/403-%E2%80%8Bproject-2003-project-cannot-open-the-file
I don't think there is anything that can be done to recover it if the file can't be opened. If you do manage to open it, immediately save it as a .xml file
(File, Save as, File type xml) then re-open from xml and save as .mpp again. As xml is a text format, any binary corruption should get left behind.

I'm from development and am currently assisting support with this issue.
Regarding the reason for the lost class folder, I am interested in how the classes folder was removed. I understand that subversion detected it as removed, but something must have removed it to begin with. If the TopLink tooling removed it, then I would be interested to know what changed in the project or configuration that might have caused the tooling to remove the directory. At this point I don't have any ideas on what that would be. Perhaps comparing what other changes occurred at the same time could help to figure this out.
I've been unable to reproduce the problem here, and may or may not be able to reproduce the problem with your .class files. I'm also unable to recreate your classes folder without your .class files. You said that you were unable to create the classes folder in a new project. Just to confirm, you created a new TopLink Workbench project, imported your classes, saved the project, and there was no class folder in the project structure with the corresponding XML files? If so, can you import other classes from a different classpath and see if you still have no classes folder in your project.mwp structure in the file system? This would certainly tell us something.
Under normal circumstances, you would never need to re-create your classes folder, but in this case, reverting to your previous project with a classes is the safest way. The less safe option is to do what you have tried with creating a new project and importing the same class.xml files from that project into the old project. This could potentially leave out non-descriptor classes, but might be enough to get going again.

  • How can I transfer archived project files created on a PC in PE 3, to an iMac and open them in PE10?

I have several years of archived PE projects created in PE2 and 3 on a PC running Vista.  The files are stored on an external disk. I would like to open the archived files using an iMac running Mountain Lion and PE10.  When I tried to open the project files in PE10 on the iMac I got the message:
"The project is not compatible with current version of Premier Elements".
Is there a way of translating the project files so that they become compatible?

    ah&ah
Until proven otherwise, I do not believe there is anyway to transfer a Premiere Elements (any version) project.prel file created in Windows to Premiere Elements (any version) on a Mac computer.
Where did you get the idea that you could?
Even if you were dealing with a Windows to Windows transfer, I might expect problems going from those very early versions (Premiere Elements 2 and 3) to Premiere Elements 10. Cannot guarantee that you would not encounter problems even then.
I will check further to confirm, but that is my understanding on the matter.
Do you have any Windows computer so that you could export each of those version 2 and 3 projects as a .mov export that you could import into your Premiere Elements 10 Mac project?
