Can't publish draft, are there known server/hoster issues?

Hi there,
I'm using ICE for a site I created, but every time I try to publish my draft, it keeps telling me there's a new version of the page and that it has to reload it.
I'm the only one working on the site as it is still in testing fase, so nobody else can make changes to it but me.
If I try to publish the draft after I reload, I get the same message over and over again...
Are there known issues with hosters or types of servers where ICE doesn't work? I'm using Servage hosting in Europe at the moment.
A while ago I had the same problem with another site, when I changed servers, to one that wasn't hosted by Servage, everything worked much better. Still not in the way I was hoping for, but much better. Fortunately this was a site that didn't have to go online, it was just to demonstrate ICE on a convention in Holland.
I hope somebody has an answer, because I really want to use ICE on this site I'm making now. This site has to go online eventually.

I also have the same problem if I want to edit the pages. It keeps telling me there's a new version of the page and that it needs to reload. Does anybody else have the same problem. Maybe one time in 50 times it goes to edit mode and 1 time in a 100 it publishes the draft. This doesnt make me very happy:-(

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

If there is a pattern of the application working up to Firefox 3.6.3 and not working starting with Firefox 3.6.4, there could be a problem with trying to communicate events between firefox.exe (which hosts pages) and plugin-container.exe (which hosts some plugins). You can tweak your settings to force plugins to run in firefox.exe to see whether this is the problem. This article has some background information on that:

No, I don't know. Obviously I can't read every post here, but I haven't read about it before.
Is it a stupid question to ask: why does that matter?? To fix the application to work in Firefox 3.6 and above, we need to see a page that works on other browsers and fails in Firefox. It doesn't need to be the whole application, just enough to demonstrate the problem so that if we solve it, then you can apply that learning back to your application.

Are there known issues with AICC interoperability and IE 8?

In the process of migrating lessons from Captivate 5 to Captivate 6, hitting a wall with AICC and IE8
I created and published a short 3 page quiz in Captivate 5. I then opened the Captivate 5 file in Captivate 6 and published it using the same reporting configuration as in the C5 version.
The C5 version of the lesson and the C6 version were both loaded into the LMS using the same LMS publishing settings.
The C5 version launched and scored and completed perfectly in IE8 and in FF 4.
The C6 version launched and scored in FF 4, but it only launched, but the status remained as "not started" in IE8
Are there any known issues or fixes for using AICC with IE8?
Both AICC and IE8 are required elements, SCORM or FFox are not options at this time.
I had a conference call yesterday with our LMS vendor and a support analyst from Rustici software, and they validated that my publishing settings in Cap 6 and in the LMS seem to be in line with recommended practices.
I created and published another short quiz using only Captivate 6, and got the same results - works under FF4, but not IE8.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This testing will not really address any cross domain issues, due to the content being hosted by ScormCloud.
What I found interesting, is that in ScormCloud, using the links below, my results were opposite those that I obtained through my LMS.
In LMS, Captivate 5 worked, Captivate 6 did not in IE8, both worked in FF
In ScormCloud, Captivate 5 did not work in IE8, but worked in FF, and Captivate 6 did work in FF and IE8.

I have an Intel Core i7 2.66 GHz with 8GB of RAM and a graphics card with

My screen occassionaly gets completely scrambled, where I move the trackpad and windows and other things will ghosted items will materialize in the background, though I am unable to click on anything or do anything, so I have to cut the power. This happens when I only have 1 or maybe 2 programs open.
Are there any known issues with the graphics cards on these Macbook Pros? Anyone know what might be causing it?

Can i publish an iWeb website to any host?

I want to use iWeb to build a website but i don't use mobile me.
I have a domain name with 1&1 and I have all the relevant ftp information but i can't see how you can publish a site made in iWeb unless it's through mobile me.
So does anyone know how I can get a site i've just made onto the internet without using mobile me? my web hosters are 1and1.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Yes you can publish an iWeb site to any host server. It involves publishing to a folder on the Desktop (or anywhere you want it to reside on the HD) and then uploading the contents of that folder, a site folder and an index.html file, to your server using an ftp client like the free Cyberduck.
Enter the ftp information into Cyberduck and upload.

The file does not get uploaded and the link keeps referring
to the file on my computer. So this is no good at all.
This is what the help said:
Linking to a file on your computer
To add content to your website that you saved on your
computer, create a link on a page on your website to a file saved
on your computer or network.
For example, you might link to a Word document saved on your
hard drive or an HTML page saved on your desktop. This essentially
adds a new page to your website, with the content contained in the
file.
When you publish the page with the link, Contribute copies
the file into your website and then links to that copy--not to the
actual file on your computer--to create the new page on your
website.
Maybe there is an extra setting that needs to be there, that
I don't know, but this could also be a bug.

Are there known 4.0.3 issues?

I am having problems accessing the web and am wondering if it is our new internet service or the new browser. One issue is that when I am viewing my Top Sites and click on a page to open the page zooms forward and goes blank. I then have to reload the page. Another issue is speed. I am at a snail's pace most of the day and more often then not cannot open a page that is Flash based. Quite often I am getting a page warning that says the server is not available. Again, if I retry/reload I get in without issue. Thoughts?

Previous to Thursday there have been no problems AND we have one laptop that is not showing any signs of these problems presently. We do however have a handful of iPhones, iPods, and iMacs that are showing the exact same problems. The connection seems to work for a few minutes and then does not for longer periods. Once you have connection and you keep the connection alive (keep moving from site to site or update often) it anecdotally seems to keep working. The opposite also seems to be true: if the machine goes to sleep or stays on a page that does not update the connection seems to be lost. Here are some more clues:
1. Connection to the base station is happening as determined by the icon in the menu and Network Utility (I can see the hardware addresses connected to the station).
2. When using Network Utility on the desktops 100% of the packets are lost when pinging a site (the one laptop does not lose any of the packets)
3. Safari cannot connect to the web and says the server (for most sites) is not responding
4. Speeds have been as low as 1,300Kbs (previously at 20,000+Kbs) when we can connect
5. The issues are new as of Thursday, previously everything was fine.
We are connected to the web via an internet provider supplied router, connected via ethernet cable to a Time Machine, and wirelessly to the various pieces of hardware. I have attempted to reboot everything multiple times now (this is day three). I have tried connecting one of the hardware to the router directly and it did not resolve any issues.
Really hoping for some help on this.

Are there known issues with AirPort's "Extend a Wireless Network"?

I have an AirPort Express (N), with an AirPort Extreme (Single Band, N) extending the network with wireless clients allowed. I've been running this setup for a couple of weeks now, and I've noticed that on occasion, the network can get into this weird split state, where clients connected to the Extreme and those connected to the Express can't see eachother. Sometimes there's just no Bonjour between them, sometimes no connection at all. Now, the clients connected to the express can see eachother and the clients on the Extreme can see eachother.
The devices are close enough together that I can rule out a signal strength issue.
I can restore it by restarting the Express and the Extreme, but I've started to associate the problem with my 2007 MacBook Pro connecting to the network, as the problem most commonly arrises when it powers or wakes up.
Has anyone else had this sort of problem? And is there a known workaround?

Looking at my router configuration:
as you can see my DHCP range starts from 100 (192.168.1.x) and so I can't have any 192.168.1.65 in DHCP client list, also you can see from the ping command that the 192.168.1.65 replies.
So, I'm right assuming that my second AP is configured with a static IP address despite what shown on its panel configuration (it says DHCP!) ?

AppV 5.0 SP3 client can't publish application to users on Server 2012 R2 RDS environment

When using SCCM to publish an AppV application to a user any user with a profile created within the last 2 weeks gets the below error in the SCCM logs. This has only started happening within the last 2 weeks or so. This environment uses full User Profile
Disks but the error occurs without UPD's being turned on also.
I believe this is due to incorrect permissions on the %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\AppV\Client\VFS folder. If the VFS folder is deleted the AppV client recreates it wiht the correct permissions and the application deploys successfully.
The permissions on the default profile are correct(has permissions for TrustedInstaller, ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES, SYSTEM) but when a new profile is created the permissions are inherited from C:\users\USER (SYSTEM, USER,Administrators). The Session
Hosts are on a regular patching schedule so it is possible this was caused by an update.
Our windows 7 laptop fleet are also patched regularly and do not have this problem with AppV 5.0 SP3.

Did you mean that this issue happened after the RD Session Hosts are on a regular patching schedule?
In addition, since the permissions for the new created profile are inherited from C:\users\USER, you can disable inherited permissions for that folder to see if the issue persists.

QT can see Codecs which are there?

This is weird.... but here I go
My laptop : MacBook Pro, OS10.4.8, FCP 5.1.2, QT 7.1.3, no software updates available... it worked fine with all DVC Pro HD footage from a Panasonic HVX200 camera. In fact I have a demo sequence I use regularly for demonstration... so it's a known quantity.
OK, a student gives me a QT movie made by "exporting an image sequence directly from QT 7.1.3 as a DVCPro HD 720p 60 fps movie". The original image sequence was made in Maya, and comprised of Iff stills which were opened in QT as an image sequence. I'm not familiar with IFF .. but they open in in QT individually and as a still sequence.
The exported QT movie played fine on the machine that rendered it (I saw it) but wouldn't play (in QTpro) on a playback machine attached to a projector. It just showed a white screen. That was odd, since that playback machine had DVCPro Codecs just for this type of playback. However, I figured it was a Codec issue.... probably in the export process.
So took the movie to my laptop (specced as above) and tried to play it in QT. Just a white screen. Huh? I know I have the right codecs. I inspected the movie's properties. Sure enough it's a DVCPro HD movie.
So then I opened my DVCPro demo sequence in FCP....remember I've played with this in FCP dozens of times on this machine.... and I get the message
"codec not found you may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card"
I checked in the ~Library/Quicktime folder and saw the following CODECS

DVCPROHDVideoOutputClock.component

But no still DVCProHD playback in FCP or QT.
So I deleted all the ~Library/Quicktime codecs and reinstalled QT 7.1.3. No difference.
Then I uninstalled the complete FCP Studio using App Zapper and reinstalled FCP Studio 5.1 from the DVD's. Tried to play the demo DVCPro HD movie...No Difference.
Then I updated FCP 5.1 to 5.1.2. Still no difference. I can't play any DVCProHD material at all!
Then I ran FCP rescue to remove all FCP settings, just in case, and the codecs still seemed to be missing.
Predictably, the DVCPro HD codecs are back in the ~Library/Quicktime folder, but no playback.
It's like the movie made from the Maya stills has destroyed my QT functionality!
Anyone got a clue? I'm at a loss right now! I must be missing something...

Are there known data usage problems with iPhone 4S?

I just got my first iPhone. I barely know how to use the thing and pretty much only use it for checking my work email. I blew through 7 GB of data in 20 days. From everyone I've talked to there is no way I have done this based on my limited usage. So something is running in the background that I can't control. I've turned off the cellular setting and told it to only use wifi, and when I'm at home it appears to be using my wifi. I read some other comments here saying it could be a problem with the iOS, but it didn't seem like a definite answer. Any other ideas?

Last month I checked the data usage on my iPhone 4S three days after the start of a new billing cycle. To my shock I discovered that I had been charged with about 193 MB of usage. That was very odd because 193 MB is well above what my total data usage is each month. Immediately contacted AT&T Customer Service--twice. Each time they could not provide an explanation as to why the data usage was charged to my phone. All they could tell me was that all of the 193 MB were charged on the very day the new billing cycle started. They did try to sell me a larger data plan.
I thought maybe this was just an odd thing that couldn’t be explained. Kept a close eye on my data usage for the reminder of the billing cycle and didn’t have another large data charge. I still stayed well under the 300 MB plan limit even with the unexpected 193 MB of usage on day one.
Then my wife checks her iPhone 4S data usage on day one of this month's billing cycle at about 9 AM. She finds that she has been charged with 30 MB of data usage when she hasn't even used her phone. Again, 9 AM; day one of new billing cycle; 30 MB of usage; no active applications running. How can this be? She contacted AT&T Customer Service and once again they were no help. She made two phone calls and also spoke with one CS Manager, but no one could explain why she has been charged for the 30 MB. Anyone else having this problem? Please help us resolve this if you know what to do? Extremely frustrating to be charged for data we know we are not using. Getting no help from AT&T Customer No-Service.

Are there known issues with IE 9 and Spry?

I only ask because I just downloaded IE 9 and my web page is no longer working correctly. Well I should rephrase that, it works for about my first 50 records, then it messes up for one record, it works for the next X records then messes up. Firefox 4 doesn't have this issue and neither does IE 8. IE 8 though loads the data extremely slow while IE 9 cruises.
The issue is that some of my fields are moved over so for example the data displays last name in the first name field, the first name is displayed in company and company is displayed in State and so on.
I decided to try a few things in testing this issue. First I started to put the records back into my source html in groups. I was able to get all the way through the letter I and then when I started to enter records that started with a last name of J the issue occurred, strangely enough it wasn't the person with a J last name that the issue occurred on but someone earlier. So I removed the J records and tried again and all was good. I then tried with the K last names, same thing. So I figured it was a maximum record size or something so I removed one of the last records where the last name began with an I and replaced it with a record that the last name started with a J. Still the issue persisted. If I sorted by last name, the issue went away. The table would sort and all the columns would line up fine. I though maybe it was something with data starting with J or K. So I removed all records from my source file and inserted J and K records and everything worked fine so it has nothing to do with what the last name started with or anything like that. One final thing I did notice is that when I sort when all my records are part of the data file, the records sort but the columns don't fix themselves. There are 431 records that are a part of my data file.

The cause of the problem is not the same.
In your case it takes forever to load the thumbnails from flickr.com; the SpryDataSets without the loading of the thumbnails works as expected.
Remember that ALL of the thumbnails for each 60 odd projects are downloaded from flickr, that is about 1800 thumbnails.

When will Apple fix OS X Lion or are there known fixes?

Can somebody please tell me what the process of bug fixing is with apple for its operating systems?
I was very happy with my upgrade to MAC OS X Lion, but after 6 weeks of using it I really hate it. I used to be an apple enthusiast telling everybody to buy a mac, get rid of windows pcs and experience the speed and intface. Now I am disappointed and frustrated!
I have my hardware checked by a Premium Reseller as it is still in warranty, but no anomalies found. Seems to be OK.
Now on 10.7.1

Beach balls and freezes for the following applications and situations:
- Safari
- Mail
- Calendar
- Microsoft Word 2011
- Microsoft Excel 2011
- Aperture 3
- Loss of Wifi connection
- logging on takes minutes
- Wake from sleep mode takes ages
- No connection for timemachine to my NAS anymore
Does anyone in this community know fixes to try?

Are there known problems with using the PCI-8430/8 with windows 7?

I have several PCI-8430/8 cards (8 serial port cards) that were originally purchased to be used in Windows XP computers for the purpose of calibrating proprietary serial devices (using 9600 baud.). When my company transitioned to Windows 7 PCs (Dell Optiplex), I discovered that the PCI cards now collect data from our devices at a noticeably slower rate than previously experienced, with our calibration process taking nearly twice as long as it used to. It almost seems as if the ports can no longer be accessed asychronously. I have tried using several different versions of the Ni-Serial driver to resolve the problem, all to no avail. Has anyone heard of this problem, or know of a potential solution to speed up the serial communications with this data card?

You are correct that VISA is used in LabVIEW, but it can also be used from other programming environments.
I actually thought about what may be causing the performance difference. The ports on this board have 128 byte receive buffers for each port. By default they will wait until 64 bytes arrives before sending a batch of data to the computer. If you have less than 64 bytes received by the port, it will wait for a period of 4 bytes before deciding to go ahead and send the data to the computer.
The trigger point at which they decide to send data to the host is configurable, either through the advanced properties of the port in Device Manager, or through Measurement & Automation Explorer (NI-MAX). Configuring the receive buffer trigger point to a lower number can help decrease latency from your hardware, at the expense of increasing CPU usage. The best latency (and also the highest CPU usage) will be achieved by setting this value to 1, since it will always send the data back to the computer as soon as it arrives, and never incur the 4-byte-time delay before transmitting data back to your application.
I would suggest you look at the receive buffer settings on your XP machines which run quickly. If they are not set to 64, they have been customized for your application, and you will want to ensure you configure them the same way on your Windows 7 machines.
