Hi. Being dull, what lead would I need from the apple store to connect my new 13" MBP to my Sony HD TV? Would anyone be kind enough to post a link to an item in the store to make sure I get the right one? Thanks, Paul.

Hi Paul,
If your HDTV possesses an HDMI input (and it should if it is newer than 3 years old), then it may be simpler and cheaper to go directly from mini-DisplayPort (the video out on the MBP) to HDMI with a cable like THIS ONE. Just an alternative! You could go mDP-DVI and then DVI-HDMI as well, but DVI cables tend to be expensive, and then you have two dongles instead of one.

Typing tool exits once I start typing -- Photoshop CS4

I'd say 70% of the time this happens:
I select the type tool
start a new text box or select a pre-existing textbox
start typing
by the time I get to the second letter the text box deactivates and I just end up changing tools as I type their corresponding key.
So let's say I want to type "Weird". I get as far as "W" (sometimes to the second letter too, if I'm lucky) and I'm no longer in type-edit mode.
The same happens if I select a pre-existing textbox and try to arrow down or change leading.

exits type edit mode
ends up moving whole textbox (or duplicating it if I'm holding "alt" for leading)

You've given no details about your setup. It could be an OpenGL problem. Turn it off in Photoshop > Preferences Performance and re-launch Photoshop. Does it go away?
It could be corrupted preferences. Trash them as per the FAQs.
It could be a bad or duplicated font, even one you're not even using.

I do a lot of research using Wikipedia articles. Sometimes those articles have video attached. When I click on the play button of the image, it opens a floating window with the first frame of the video, but it's not moving. A thin banner at the top of it me: "For a better video playback experience we recommend a [ HTML5 video browser". And touching the play button ( hoping it might play anyway) has no effect. It will not play.
Is HTML5 a PC/Windows only format? Or is there an App that will alow me to use these videos on my iPad mini? I've spend 6 hours already trying to find out what I can do about this, and I've made zero progress. I've checked out a handful of apps in the app store, and don't even know what I'm looking at. I got the Wikipedia app for mobile devices, and it doesn't offer the videos in the truncated articles it provides. I've spoken to several Apple techs at the Applecare phone number, and no one there seems to know anything about it.

Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.3.2 - Grouping a cross tab in sections

I am trying to make a BI Publisher template containing a cross tab and the cross tab is repeated for sections.This is how the structure of tables are
Costs Dim (Cost_id, Costs_Section , Costs_Type)
Trans_Dim (Trans_id, Trans_Ref, Trans_Narr)
Costs_Fact ( Cost_Id , Trans_id , Amount)
The output needed is somewhat like this
Costs_Section X
Trans_Ref| Trans_Narr|| Cost Type A | Cost Type B
Tref1 | Tnarr1 || Amt 1 | Amt 2 | Sum(Amt1, Amt2)

The creation of the table is okay and that is done via the Cross tab wizard , but when i add the costs section , the output is garbled.
The dimensional columns disappears and the sum remains..
Any leads , help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
This way system is expected to search for default printer. What I would recommend you to do is call transaction SP01 within the report and pass the initial screen parameter thru FM.

Stocks iPhone Application isn't working on 2G after 2.2 Update

Hi, ever since i updated the Software on my 2G Phone to 2.2, the Stocks application started behaving erratic. The daily value of stock, for example, AAPL, apple, shows the numeric value as well as the graphical movement of the stock price. The graph is accurate, but, the numerical value is way out of sync with the graph. (Ex. the numeric value shows that the stock is valued at $120 but, the graph shows around $94).
Did anybody else see this? Any help in getting this resolved? I really appreicate your inputs.

Something I noted that solved my issue...
Setting the Date and Time to Automatic doesnt help. When I set it to "OFF" and chose the Time Zone as "Baltimore, USA", it started working.
Would have been nice if Apple had a KB Article or something on this.

Automatic New Tables

I tried searching for an answer to this but I don't really know what terminology to use. So I apologize if this has been covered recently or is really easy to find in the user's guide.
I'd like to be able to automatically fill tables using data from another table. Let me lay out my exact scenario so this will make more sense. I'm creating a master roster for everyone attending an all night event for teenagers. Some of the attendees are adult counselors. Also, some of the students attending are sort of like student helpers. So I'd like to make three other tables that would auto fill with data from the master table based on this criteria. For example, if the student column in the master table equaled "yes" then that student's row would also be added to the "Student" table. But if the student leader column in the master table also equalled yes, then that student's row would be added to the student leader table. Lastly, if the counselor column in the master table equalled yes, then that person's row would be added to the counselor table.
I hope this makes sense. I know that I can "categorize" by this column, but I'd like to keep my master table as it is and be able to look back and forth at the different categories without having to re-categorize all the time.

I wouldn't make the change yet, though. The edited formula works fine for only three categories on the table, one of which (Students) includes the members of one of the others ("helpers").
But you have more that three categories, so in its present form, the edited formula won't work for you.
Columns E, F and G of Yvan's main table are indexes that tell Numbers which names to include on each sub table.
The formula in column E: IF(B=TRUE,ROW(),999999)
places the row number in the cell if the checkbox in that row of column B is checked, or the number 999999 if the box is not checked.
You'll note that the first three small numbers in column E are 2, 7 and 8, and that those are the row numbers of the first three checked boxes in column B.
The formula in column F is the same except for the column it references (C), and does the same thing.
The formula in column G is the same, except for the column reference (D) and the condition (D="*").
The assumption here is that anyone who is on the master list is in only one of the three categories. For rows where neither of the first two checkboxes is checked, the person must be in the third category ("basic"). The (original) formula in column D looks at columns B and C. If either has been checked, the formula puts a null string ( "" ) in its cell, if neither has been checked, it puts a marker ( "*" ) in the cell.
The presence of that marker (D="*") is what makes the formula in column G place the row number in its cell, marking the name for inclusion in the "basic" (Students) table. See rows 3, 5 and 7.
For your case, which has more than three categories, you will need a column of checkboxes for each category except "Students", for which you can use the same technique as Yvan, with a formula revised to fit the new conditions. (See below)
For each (checkbox) category you will also need a matching 'index' column, similar to and using the same formula as those in columns E and F of Yvan's table, plus an index column using the similar formula using "=*" for the "Students" column.
Formulas for each of the breakout tables (sub-tables) will be the same as those for Yvan's example, with the column reference changed to match the index column for each table.
The Warning table will need one row for each breakout table. The two column references in the formulas for this table need to match column A on the table for which the warning applies, and the column on the main table holding the checkboxes (or "*"s ) for the category matching that table.
The formula for the "Students" (or "basic") column will depend on how many categories of 'counsellor' there are , how many 'student leader' categories there are, which columns hold the checkboxes for each of these categories, and whether 'student leaders' are to be included in the 'students' table as well as one or more of the 'student leaders' tables.
The formula below is for three categories of Counsellors (checkboxes in columns B, C and D; excluded from the 'students' column and table), two categories of Student Leaders (checkboxes in columns E and F; included in the 'students' column and table) and one category of Students (column G; includes all who are NOT checked in columns B, C or D).
G2 (and Fill down): =IF(OR(B,C,D),"","*")
Remember that you'll need an index column for each breakout table.

There is one simplest way to enhance search options. It doesn't need any coding.
Goto SE11 transaction
Select "Search help" option
select the search help names like
SAL_COMPLAINT
SAL_COMPLAINTS
SAL_COMPLAINTS_APP
You just need to add the additional field name to enhance search help.
I have tried this for BP search help & lead help & its works absolutely fine.

Earthlink hijacking Safari!!

This has now happened several times. I click on a link in a forum somewhere on line... and rather than going to that post, Safari goes to

if I then back track and click on the post link again... it forever goes to that earth link "help" page. It has taken over the link!
The odd thing is that we are NOT earthlink customers and haven't been for months. So what is going on? I tried deleting the cache but that didn't help. I did at one point do something that stopped this (deleted an earthlink cookie), but it has reared its ugly head again! Help!

Yes shame on them, though they are not alone, I see it happens with other ISP,very frustrating.
Changing the DNS to the ones provided on the blog & to Daver,in his topic, from anearthling worked for me, though I will check the OpenDNS option.
I also found, as is said in the blog, that when seeking help from them <elink> they will claim the DNS # are wrong, so they do not provide support using those values insisting on changing them. I did, then changed them back,so very annoying!!

Data Source Application not showing

I am creating Generic Data source but in the Application component no hireachy is showing. Currently showing only NEW_HIER_ROOT.
No other application Component is there after pressing help , like SAP R/3, SD , MM etc. It is a new system. Kindly suggest.

Take basis team or team lead help and do it at ECC side RSA9.
While replicating data source applications also will replicate. You need to replicate data source under same application component.
at bw side your application components are not exist then fron BI content you can instal lthem.

Can I run perl scripts on a iplanet App Server instead of web server

Hello,
We have some perl scripts running on a iWS 6.0 in DMZ (Tier1) which acess Oracle Server(Tier 3). I want to restrict machines on DMZ access Oracle server directly. Instead I want all the database calls to orignate from iPlanet App server on Tier 2. To make this happen I have to run Perl scripts on App server. Is this feasible as the J2EE iPlanet App can run only C++ or Java.. Any leads helps me lot..

According to the J2EE specs you should use EJBs and Servlets in the iAS! Running a perl script for db access sounds like good old cgi times.
But generally it is possible to call a perl script from within iAS. But don't do it!

Does anybody know how I could check if a user is authorised to a cost center when creating a Dsitribution Cycle. That is, could I check if I have authorization to create a distribution cycle?
Furhtermore, is there a way to check the cost center authorization in every single transaction-code that uses a cost center (reports, accounting, master data etc...) with a 'Z' object or something? we really need to solve this issue.

I recall we had a similar requirement to restrict user access at cost center level for one custom transaction.We maintained a Z table with User ->Cost Center mapping to achieve this and controlling programatically. There is not easy way to do it for all SAP transactions.
