Can't send text message only iMessages on iOS 8

Afree I updated to IOS 8 I can only send imessages. Once you start a imessage conversation it stays as iMessage even after you turn off your wifi and data. This only occurs for people that have iPhones though! I have tried resetting the network settings, restarting my phone, and deleting the conversation.

I am having the same issue I thing what the guy is trying to say is if you're sending messages to someone that has the same phone it will automatically send as an iMessages. but if the person is not connected to wifi or data you need to send it as SMS. So Im trying to send it as SMS but it will stay as an iMessage."We all know if the recipient is not connected to wifi he/she can not receive the imessage"
so the question here how to change it as sms?
here's what I did so far....
turn off/turn on
settings/iMessages off
settings/iMessages on/send as sms on
Still does the same thing...
the only thing that I'm seeing is when you send it immediately tap and hold onto the bubble and it will popup option send it as sms
but what is the function of "Send as SMS Turned on" it says there send as SMS when iMessage is unavailable. Carrier messaging rates may apply.?

  • Can't send text message only iMessage

After current OS update to 10.9.5 iMessage appears to function differently.
Previously one had the option to "send as text message" if the recipient was not registered in iMessage.
I cannot find this option any longer.
    Please advise.

  • Nokia X3-02 can't send text message to only one of...

i can't send text message to only one of my contacts... what happen? what should i do? help me pls... tnx...

    Hi,
You can send the other contacts SMS but not only one contact, Right?
Then the issue is with your contact, maybe the number is not right or not the right format.
So check your contact  number with number which you can send SMS.
Maybe it is best to delete that contact and create new contact which the format is the same with the others.
    I hoe this helps.

  • TS3274 I can't send text message to some people in my contacts

I can not send text messages from iPad air to some of my contacts.   I can send from iPhone

    1. Messages on the iPad can only be sent to other iDevices and Mac Computers running Mountain Lion.
    2. They must also be registered with iMessage
Note: The two above conditions must be met.

  • Cannot send text message or iMessage?

I recently upgraded to iOS7 (like everyone else) and today cannot send text messages or iMessage. I can make phone calls and use other internet services. Any ideas?

        Hi shelmig1!
Sorry to learn of any issues since upgrading to iOS7. Let's try some troubleshooting! Do you find that this issue is only for other iPhone users, or does it happen with all messages? Are you able to receive messages? Please reset your network settings: Settings/General/Reset/Reset Network Settings. Keep us posted on the results, thanks!

        Hi scrappy1989,
Let's see what's causing the problem! Are you using a 3rd party messaging application? Are you having trouble sending picture and text message? Do you experience the issue with everyone you send a message to? Do you receive an error message? I look forward to hearing from you soon.

  • Can't send text messages (can only recieve). How do I change Service Center Number

Hello. As my subject states, i can't seem to send text messages (but i can receive them). I'm told by my carrier that i need to change my service center number (and they provided it). I've been looking all over the phone for this option, and can't seem to find it. I keep seeing posts saying "On your device: Options > SMS > Service Center." but "service center" does not appear when i go to options>SMS text. I see the following; screen options conversation style: show names: message options priority: callback number: disable autotext: so my question is;, where do i find this?

I have a bit more than 30 messages on this forum, and my experience says that many people do not post in the board that matches their device. So it's a good idea to make sure.

you did publish it in your "private information" part in your profile. But you have to configure your profile to allow people to view your private information. Here is a screenshot of what I see :

  • I can't send text message to one person.

I can receive a text message from her, but unable to reply: "not delivered". No problem with Imessages to the same person.
Already tried to delete message thread + contact, didn't work.
    Help?

This was as an issue for me on iOS8.1 on the 6 too.
I followed this and recreated the contact prior to sending the message - it didn't work. However, I went through the steps again and I didn't create the contact, instead just added the number, it went through. Thanks for the help.

  • Problem sending text messages and imessages

    Hi,
I have been having some problems with my iphone 5 when sending and receiving text messages and imessages. When i go to send a text or imessage it will take a long time for the message to try to send through, then it comes up with message failure. I have full reception and internet connection and the phone is runing on the lastest ios7.1.2, everything is working in that respect. Sometimes it will freeze my whole inbox and i end up having to turn my phone off and on again to unfreeze it. It has also started taking a long time to receive messages, i will get a message and it will say that it was received 30mins ago when its only just shown up on my phone. I am also having problems deleting messages, as it freezes whenever i try to delete them.
Any suggestions on what to do?

  • Is there a way to block someone from sending Text Messages ONLY?

I would like to block a family member from sending text messages but I do not want to restrict calling abilities in case of an emergency.
I have gone to My Verizon>>Safeguards but this option only seems to allow you to block on an "All or Nothing" basis.
Is there a way to prevent someone from sending you text messages while still allowing phone calls?

Thanks for your response. I have an I Phone (I Messages) but the party that I want to block does not have an I Phone.

  • I can't send a message on iMessage?

So, about 2 months ago, one of my friends (she lives on the other side of Canada BTW) sent me a text message on iMessage. So then I sent her—or tried to send her—a text back. But then the text bubble had a red circle with a white exclamation mark next to it, and "Not Delivered" below it. I'm sure that this isn't an internet issue, I searched this up before, and it said that it has something to do with the person that you're sending the text to having a newer OS than you but having an older iPod touch. I have a 4th generation iPod touch, and iOS 5.1.
