Can't send using SMTP with SSL on Exchange 2003
We have an exchange 2003 server. The iPhone is configured for IMAP w/SSL for incoming and works fine. When we have SSL turned on on the outgoing SMTP, we get the message "Cannot send mail. Check the account settings for the outgoing server mail.domain.com". With SSL turned off, it works fine.
I set up outlook on a PC to use IMAP/SMTP w/ SSL and it works fine. I can send and recieve with no errors.
We're sure the user name and password entered for the outgoing are correct.
What else could be causing the iPhone not to send, but where Outlook works fine?
The new phone at the Verizon store had the exact same symptoms. Ergo...the problem was in my server.
So...if anyone else has this problem (can't send file attachments)...go to Exchange Server (I'm running 2007..settings on other version are slightly different), server settings, find the send hub. Click on it then look for the Exchange Active Sync tab and click it. Check the Ignore Client Certificates. This may only apply to those who run self generated SSL certs on thier Exchange Server...cheap **bleep**. LOL
I swear...last week, before buying this Thunderbolt my OG Droid sent file attachments just fine. Somehow I inadvertantly set the Active Sync to accept client certificates. To err is human...to blame it on Verizon is more so. LOL

Adding my Media Temple Hosted domain email to a desktop service on my Macbook Air.
I have tried this on both Mac Mail and Thunderbird.
I add the account manually and have checked, double checked, triple checked the server addresss and also the user name and password and they are correct.
I have altered the ports from being default to custom and have tried both SSL and non SSL and still it is unable to connect to the SMTP server.
IMAP inbox is working as I recieve mails but can not send them.
I have chatted to Media Temple and they say it must be something to do with the hardware of the MacBook Air which to start with I disagreed with but I have since tried adding the email to my Mac Mini and it works fine.
I am assuming their is an issue in the MacBook Air with the SMTP ports and I would really appreciate some advice on how to fix this as I don't want to use Webmail for ever.

P.S: CHECKING !!
STEP 1.
First compile and execute the PROGRAM 1 with your USERNAME & PASSWORD. This will send a mail to your own account.
STEP 2.
Now compile both PART 1 & PART 2 of PROGRAM 2. Then, execute PART 1 - Main.java. This will retrive the mail sent in step 1. njoy! :)
In future, I hope this is added to the demo programs of the Java Mail API download package.
This is for 3 main reasons...
1. To prevent a lot of silly questions being posted on this forum [like the ones I did :(].
2. To give the first time Java Mail user with a real time working example without code modification [code has to use command line args like the demo programs - for instant results].

I did checked by enabling session debuging and also checked pop settings it's enabled for all
mails, I tried deleting some very old messages and now the message count is changed to 310.
This may be the problem with gmail.

I dropped my 17" macbook pro and the screen is broken. Can I still use it with an external monitor? When I plugged it into a monitor I had used it with before, I'm not able to see anything on the macbook screen to control it. It came on but I just got the blue screen with nothing else after typing in my password. (Didn't see the password form just assumed it was there somewhere and it did go from space to blue screen but no desktop icons, files, dock strip at top or anything else, just blank blue screen) so I can't access the system preferences.
Or can I / or how do I, transfer hard drive files to my mac mini? If not salvageable as is can I pull out the hard drive and make it an external harddrive? In otherwords is anything salvageable? It seems it's coming on I just can't access anything. BTW I was told it would cost aprox $1000 to replace the screen! I paid almost $4000 for this thing and it was running great - makes me sick to lose it!I'd like to promise you that everything will be fine if you just get the monitor going - but it's hard to know what the hardware damage might be. It might be the monitor, or the damage might be greater.
Your best solution would be visit your local Apple Store and let them know what your situation is. They have access to diagnostics you don't, and they might be able to the best way to save your data and keep you computing. It's still not covered, but they can tell you what your current options are.
Um, you might consider investing in a backup drive.
And there other repair options, too. Powerbook Medic http://www.powerbookmedic.com/xcart1/pages.php?pageid=67 offers reliable repairs, and quotes prices well under Apple's. -

(Actually, two people share a laptop, but one of us cannot use her AIM account cuz mine is in iChat already... And, when traveling, I have the computer - and I would like to use iChat on the computer...)In iChat 4 you can have more than one AIM Valid name logged in at once.
AIM valid = AIM, @mac.com or a MobileMe name.
What you are then stuck with is that iChat is linked to one Buddy Picture and The one Mac User Account's Address Book which may or may not have Full Names, emails details, or a Nickname in iChat 4 linked to the Screen Names.
Whilst it does let you both log in whilst using one Mac User Account there are drawbacks about who uses the keyboard and reading meesages from the other persons Buddies.

Have a US Visa card but a foreign address, and Apple does not seem to be able to cope with that (even though it is a multinational corporation). So I set up payment with Paypal, and it worked fine. Now I want to take advantage of Family Sharing, but Apple won't allow it. Could we lean on Apple to change this policy?

2.Right click select create message.
