I can't use ";" at the ending of sql clause in VB program. First this program can use with Oracle 7.3.4 database. But now i need to upgrade DB to Oracle 8.1.7 ,program can't operate. It show error Runtime 40002
and 37000:ODBC driver for oracle/invalid charactor

Is the above command valid in oracle?
If not then is there any equivalent for if exists clause?

from VC++6.0 . That is very easy. It depends on what
data access object you are using.
If you are using ADO 2.7 you can call Stored Procedures
with a COMMAND OBJECT :

I'd like to know if it's possible and how to use JavaMail 1.4 with Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4.0.0), Windows version.
With the following code, I can see that the mail.jar used by the server is the one included in the jdk installation :

This article talks about the Patch 6514136, but this patch only applies to : Oracle Containers for J2EE - Version: 10.1.3.3.0

I strongly suggest to upgrade to AS 10.1.3 to get this.
Think of future support of AS 9.0.4. You will get not critical patch updates anymore.

This service account does not have the required user right "Log on as a service."

To work around the issue, use one of the following methods:

We moved the SCCM server to OU where no policies were getting applied and then applied the new GPO to that OU. Restarted the server and we were able to install WSUS role.

How to define the tab space in the PL/SQL editor with Oracle Forms 4.5?

When I use the PL/SQL editor with Oracle Form Builder, I found the tab space is very long that affects my programs readability quite a lot. Then, I tried to use Textpad to type my program. It looks fine with Textpad. However, when i tried to 'cut and paste' my code back to the PL/SQL editor, all tab spaces (approx. 8-character) are detected and the program looks awful again ~~ Would any one help me to solve my mentioned problem?

In 4.5 you cannot change this. In Forms 5.0 and above there is a registry value DE_PREFS_TABSIZE which allows you to set a value for the tabsize.

This is exactly what you posted, only the whitespace has been changed.
This makes it clear that the GROUP BY is inside the parentheses with the argument to XMLAGG. You can have an ORDER BY clause there, but not a GROUP BY clause.

Wether "CREATE TABLE" can be used in storage procedure of Oracle?

I am migrating MS SQL 2000 Database to Oracle 8.1.7. But I encounter a trouble, the defind sentences of temporary table in storage procedure of MS SQL can't be migrate to oracle.
I have try two kinds of syntax to defind temporary table, but both of them can't pass the compiler of pl/sql. Two syntax that I have try as follows:
1.CREATE TEMP TABLE chanp1(chanpid varchar(50))
2.CREATE GLOBAL TEMPORARY TABLE chanp1(chanpid varchar(50))
Now, I want to know whether "CREATE TABLE" sentence can be used in storage procedure of Oracle.

you could use EXECUTE IMMEDIATE (Oracle8i above) or DBMS_SQL pacakge to do dynamic SQL.
since you are already on Oracle8i 8.1.7 using EXECUTE IMMEDIATE may be more easy.

When I use Connect Object Explorer, the "Connect to Server" dialog box which pops up has only 4 selections in the Server Type Drop Down List. They are Database Engine, Analysis Services, Reporting Services & Integration Services. I have read
somewhere that there should be a compact database option. but I do not see it.
What I would like to do is use free form SQL Queries against the tables in "SQL Server Compact 4.0 Local Database" .
Once I have validated these queries, then I will use them in my Visual Studio 2012 C#, ASP.NET application. I created the Local Database using Visual Studio 2012 for use by my application.

You can (using database links), but this will generally result in even poorer performance (unless by "another Oracle database" you mean using RAC?)
It sounds more like you either need to upgrade your systems, or refactor your applications to have a smaller performance footprint.
