Can text within a box be given an action?

I'm using Animate to create a lesson/course and I would like to be able to click on a word in the text and have a new text box open with a definition/explanation of the word clicked. Is there a way to do that in Animate? I haven't been able to figure it out.

Hi, ladal9-
In order for text to have an action posted to it, you will need to have only the text you're clicking to be in its own text div. There is no way for you to isolate one word in a paragraph in a text div and have that display. You could always try putting together a hit point of a transparent div, but since the text will flow differently depending on the user's zoom settings, etc., it's not a good solution.

I am wanting to postion text within a Box/block, these are list items that I have used as navigation buttons.
I have set the box size and have selected "center" for text positioning, this positions the text in the centre horizontally ok.
I would like to know how to position the text centrally verticially aswell?

I can get the padding within a div option to work, but one of the List items/ button texts needs different padding to the others because it is two lines of text.
Can I differentiate the treatment of one "Li" ??

I just statred Flash CC for the first time and it seems that the text within the pop-up window (dialog box) is mis-aligned and not allowing me access to the command buttons, nor all the text. (ie: the NEW Template Box, can't see but 2/3 of the content)

the GUI is so hard to read (so small) I enlarge my Ps UI by the instructions below...which helped a lot.

After placing a new text box in my document, typing new text, clicking away, then coming back to edit the text, I am unable to get my cursor to reappear within that text box. I can only select the box itself. I cannot select the text. Where is my cursor?

Even simpler than that.
Clicking once in a text box selects it.
Clicking once in a selected text box places the insertion point in the box.
The clicks do not need to be close enough in time to be read as a double click.
The same behaviour applies to table cells in Pages and in Numbers.

Box in Sap Script and text within

Hi,
I want to create a box at the end of the main window and text within it.
The main window can end at 1st page itself or it can be extended to second page based on the articles. So the box should appear at the end of the last article in the main window.
and also i would like to know, how do we write text in a box.
Could any1 help me out on this.

You can create a variable window in the main window.
You can restrict the last item of the main window by varying the size of main window. In your wite-form ,

Can't vertically center text within a table cell with a picture next to it

I have a table and each cell has a picture in it (which was "cut" from another part of the document and "pasted" into the cells). Next to it, I typed a few words. I want the words to be centered vertically within the cell. However, everytime I click on the vertical centering in the inspector, it moves the picture and the text remains at the very bottom of the cell. The text is "tied" to the picture. I've tried everything... highlighting the text, same thing. Can't figure it out!! Is there any way to do this without inserting text boxes??

Vertical align works on text within text boxes and within table cells.
I have just checked this using a table with:
*1st cell* Inline Picture with caption under. Cell sizes to fit
*2nd cell* Same as first, picture scaled down. Text and image centre vertically.
*3rd cell* Caption only, vertically centred.
It works and I have wrap turn off on the image, before I pasted it in.
On rereading the O.P.'s post it seems to be saying contradictory things. That the text is "tied to the picture" which is what you would expect of inline graphics and that the text is stuck in the bottom the cell.
Without a picture and a better description of the problem we are none the wiser.
I am just guessing but perhaps the O.P. has the image and Inline graphic on the same line and can't understand why the bottom of the text and the bottom of the image are aligned.
If this is the case it is a misunderstanding of what inline graphic means. The image acts just like a character in the text and sits on the text baseline, it is not an independent object.
It is possible to shift text next to the image or the image itself by selecting either and altering:
+Inspector > Text > More > Baseline Shift+
But frankly you would be better separating the 2 and putting the text in the cell to the left or right of the image.

columns, div boxes, etc are layed out for you. Margins and padding
are set. However it seems when I type text within the boundry I can
just keep typing clear outside the boundries. Shouldn't the text
auto-wrap to stay within the box. What good does it do to have the
div tag settings if they don't enclose the text for you? What am I
missing here.

Put a space in what you are typing, please. See what happens.

How can I detect a certain text within a field within CASE using IF

Dear all,
for a transformation / generation of values receiving from R/3 into BW I try to
manupulate three fields. I have a problem detecting a string in a field.
I am using a CASE with several WHEN clauses on one field. Depending on the
value, an IF is integrated. There I look into another field evaluating, if it contains
a certain string. E.g. IF STRING CP 'xyz' OR 'abc'.
System gives error for the locigal expression. I also tried CS, but same error.
How can I detect a certain text within a field and which is the right logical
expression.

Text tool not working in photoshop CC, all I can see are small boxes event with giant font

I am not sure what is going on here. I cannot get the Text to show up using the Text tool. All I can see are tiny boxes even made the font 60 points. SHould be huge. Been happening for more than a week and I ran an update via the cloud just last night. Did not fix it yet. Ideas?

I find Points are not the most predictable unit to use for text, and p[refer a linear size like inches or mm. Have a look at your image size. If it has a very high pixel size, together with a low dpi (72) then that would give you what you are seeing. If your image size is 4 inches by 8 inches, then regardless of what the dpi is, if you used inches instead of points for text sizing, then you would know to expect 2 inch text to be one quarter the hieght of your document.
Does that make sense?

In CS6 - how can I un-blur text within a photo taken at a seminar of a powerpoint slide presentation

Is there a way in CS6 to un-blur or "clean-up" text within a photo taken during a powerpoint slide show presentation at a seminar ?

You can import pictures into programs such as Photoshop and sharpen them or make other corrections but the results will depend on how much information remains in your photo. It is always better to work with the original image than to copy it out of a power point presentation. I am moving the discussion to the Photoshop forum in case you need more help.

AP div tags/positioning within a box/can't do it/?

*I've drawn a container box for my home page, into which I want to add an image, and then freely position my interactive/rollover buttons and/or images within the confines of that box. I've got the background...and the box...but Dreamweaver will not let me draw an apdiv tag within the box. I can draw outside the box, but get a circle with a slash when I try to draw within the box.
I have a page online www.bradmarsh.org. I created it by just placing the image and then drawing the button boxes and placing them. They are not placed relative to the confines of the box, so they move when I resize the browser. Also..I might add...it's just a mockup.
At this point, I still don't understand html, but I am starting to grasp it somewhat. If I can solve this little issue, I can carry on with creating my own site.

How can I read paragraph box scale?

I am trying to read the values off some text boxes in photoshop for an exporter script that I am working on. I ran into an issue that I can't figure out, hopefully it's just a small thing.
When reading the values from paragraph text, there are some instances in which the values will come out wrong. For example:
I have a layer with paragraph text in it that says its paragraph size (text box) is 400 px by 400 px and the font size is 60 pt.
If I run a script similar to this:

My output reads:

Which is obviously wrong because all the values are half of what they should be. I have other paragraph text layers in the same file that print out the correct values!
After trying a bunch of different things I figured a way to reproduce the error, but not a way to correct it, here it is:
- Create a new paragraph text layer by clicking and dragging using the text tool, make the text box roughly 200 px by 200 px
- Type some text in the box
- Select the text and make it 30 pt in size
- Finish editing the text
- Make sure the text layer is selected
- Press command+t (ctrl+t in windows)
- In the free transform parameters, manually type 200% for both with and height
- Accept the transformation changes
- Use the text tool and select the text from the layer
At this point you will notice that the text box reports its size as 400 px by 400 px and the font size says 60 pt, so far everything makes sense, the issue comes when you look at the info tab, the scale is reported as 200% for both width and height and if I use the previous script the sizes printed are the original sizes of the text box: 200 px by 200 px and 30 pt for the font size.
At first I though it would be as easy as using the verticalScale and horizontalScale properties of TextItem like so:

But even though we know the scale is 200% the output reads:

Unfortunatelly I do not have control over how the content is created so I can't avoid the use of the transform tool on pararaph text, or all text for that matter (this issue also affects the font size in single line text layers). So I need to find a reliable way to either read the correct values from the text or to read the scale which is affecting the text within my layer.

I tested that this returns correct values both when image and text box get scaled. There is some strange Photoshop behaviour to note though:
bounds.left seems to be always 0 like one could assume
bounds.top on the other had is most times -1-3px. This probably corresponds to the amount the actual text rises above the text box. I feel it's a bug, i.e. it should be part of content bounding box, not the text area. But maybe it's like it was specced and I'm just interpreting it wrong.
x_scale and y_scale seem to be always equal. For example if you create a 100x100px text box and scale it to 200px horizontally, both x_scale and y_scale will be 2 and text_item.height will be 50.

How to vertically center text within its container

Whether in a button, or a text element, I see no way to center the text that you type *vertically* in the container. I'm not talking about within the box element. I mean just the text element itself. If I size out a text area and start typing in it, I should be able to say center it vertically. That's what I'm looking for anyway. Help much appreciated.

Text elements cannot be vertically centered as they are not containers. However, you can fake that somewhat by making the line-height very large. But this means if you have text spanning two lines it would be very far apart though

The Content sync feature won't allow me to style specific text within a text block.

I am trying to change the color of a few words within a paragraph but after I add a content tag to it, it will not let me. It will just change the color of all text within the block. Is this a bug?

The issue I am having is that I can't do any text styling to specific words within my text box like I can without a content tag.
Let me explain. I have a few words within a text block that I want to emphasize with a color. It will not allow me to highlight the word and change its color if it has a content tag - it will change all of the text within the block that color. I have no problem doing it without the tag. Why is that?

How to center text within image

Now that i created ap tag within div, i was able to put text but in every browser its different. Below is the code. Please help me find easy way that can center the text within image.
