  • How to open jxl workbook directly using JSP...??

    Dear Friends,
I have created an object for "jxl.write.WritableWorkbook" in my action class, suppose let's say "objWB"
now I can write this object to a file using objWB.write(), If I write to a file I am able to open it using FileInputStream

so is there any way, where I can open it directly using JSP.

    Don't think be happy

Don't think, be happy eh? How can you be happy if you have no capacity to register it?
In any case, to "open" a document in any web environment, you write the binary data to the response with the correct content-type set. If for example you set the content-type to "application/ms-excel" and on the client computer a program is registered to handle that content type, the document might be opened directly in that application. If there is no application registered to handle the content-type, a download of the file is usually offered.
Do a google search for popular content-type values. I'm sure you can also find examples on how to output a binary file to the response. You are already almost there, in stead of writing the data to the fileoutputstream, write it to the outputstream of the response object in stead.

  • How can I draw a bar graph using netbeans?

Hello, I am quite new to java and netbeans. I have got the hang of placing controls on the forms and getting them to function.. Now I want to be able to draw a graph. Is there a way I can do this is net beans? Or is there a control that lets me draw lines into it, like the PictureBox in Visual Basic?
    Thanks

    Use something like:

  • How can I  connect to SQL server database thru local network by using JSP?

I'm currently doing a project by using JSP..And I need to display record from the SQL Server database in our school's local network. May I know how can I do that? How can I write the code so that I can able to access the SQL Server databsase Throught school's network by using JSP? Please tell me step by step how can I do that. I'm using Tomcat 4.1 as Web Server. And I had J2SE and J2EE installed in my computer.

first you have to establish a ODBC DSN on your computer,
that connects to the database...you can do that from your control pannel.
i assume that the TOMCAT server is residing on your computer....(if the webserver is in other computer then you would have to create a System DSN on the data sources ODBC option in the settings>control pannel of that machine)
then you can use that DSN name to connect to the data base from the class file....for further assistance on how to create the class that access the tutorials in sun site.

  • How can I display a confirm box using JSP?

    Dear All,
I am new to the Java language; please help!
What I'd like to do is to prompt the user, within a loop, to click OK to continue the loop or CANCEL to exit the loop. I've tried to use JavaScript in conjunction w/ Form submittion to handle the parameter passing ('true'/'false') of the confirm box to a JSP. Yet, every form submission will cause the JSP page to re-load from the top which is the incident I'd like to avoid.
Is there anyway I can have a confirm box written using JSP? Please help!!
    Thanks,Wing.

if you do any modifications in the jsp page the whole page will be refreshed to show the latest result after modification.
if you dont want the whole page to be refreshed
you can pass the control to another page after the confirm box or you can use frames to your interest.

  • Can a Servlet be used for Storing Objects with both JSP and JSF used on it?

    Hi,
    Pages I have:
    SearchEmployee.jsp
This page has a search engine that search out the Employee. This Employee Object will be stored inside a Servlet(controller) for future references by other pages. I used JSP, html tags for forms, and request.getParameter() to built this search engine.
    Problem:
I have a JSF Form that wants to DISPLAY the employee which I have found in my Search Engine. How can I get the JSF's value="#{Controller.employeeObj.name}" to get the value from the object?
This seems logical as my JSF form is just retrieving the stored object in the Controller. I currently cant seem to output it

The servlet shouldn't be used to store ANY data, let alone data to be accessed by other sevlets. Put the object into the Session object.

Sure, you can upload a file, using a form input element of type file. You pick this up with a servlet, though you need a special request wrapper to sort out the multi-part request you get back that way (there's a suitable package on jakarta.apache.org/commons)
The servlet decrypts the file and can pass the results to a JSP for display.
Don't try to do the complicated stuff in a JSP, it all gets incredibly messy, and that's not what JSPs are for.

  • How can i upload a image file to server by using jsp or servlet.

    Hi,
I m gurumoorthy. how can i upload a image file to server by using jsp or servlet without using third party API. pls anyone send me atleast outline of the source code.
    Pls send me anyone.
    Regards,
    Gurumoorthy.

I'm not an applet programmer so I can't give you much advice there.
If you want to stream the file from the server before it's entirely uploaded, then I don't believe you can treat it like a normal file. If you're just wanting to throw it up there and then listen to it, then you can treat it like a normal file.
But again, I'm not entirely certain. You might be able to stream the start of the file from the server while you're still uploading the end of it, but it probably depends on what method you're using to do the transfer.

  • How can WLS use JSP pages in a Web Application witth just a JRE [Web Application, WAR, JSP, weblogic.jsp.pageCheckSeconds and JRE]

How can WLS use JSP pages in a Web Application (either a .war file or a war directory structure) without a java compiler?
I suspect either the JSP specification is flawed (i.e. it doesn't take account of servers using just a JRE), or BEA's implementation is broken.
Production servers do not have a JDK installed. They only have a JRE. Therfore a java compiler is not present on the machine that the Web Application is deployed onto.
On the development machine, when the server is requested to load the JSP it creates a tmpwar directory within the Web Application directory structure. This is then included in the resultant .war file thus:
              D:\war>jar -tf gmi.war
              META-INF/
              META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
              gmiService.jsp
              WEB-INF/
              WEB-INF/classes/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/bt/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/bt/gmi/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/bt/gmi/gmiService.class
              WEB-INF/getList.xsl
              WEB-INF/getListByConnection.xsl
              WEB-INF/getListByDistrict.xsl
              WEB-INF/getListByDistrictConnection.xsl
              WEB-INF/lib/
              WEB-INF/source/
              WEB-INF/source/build.bat
              WEB-INF/source/gmiService.java
              WEB-INF/web.xml
              WEB-INF/weblogic.xml
              tmpwar/
              tmpwar/jsp_servlet/
              tmpwar/jsp_servlet/_gmiservice.class
              tmpwar/jsp_servlet/_gmiservice.java
When deployed on the production server with the web.xml file set to use the following values (note XML stripped):
              weblogic.jsp.pageCheckSeconds
              -1
              weblogic.jsp.precompile
              false
              weblogic.jsp.compileCommand
              javac
              weblogic.jsp.verbose
              true
              weblogic.jsp.packagePrefix
              jsp_servlet
              weblogic.jsp.keepgenerated
              false
              And in the weblogic.properties file:
              weblogic.httpd.webApp.gmi=war/gmi
I've also tried with the .war file, but that insists on creating another tmpwar directory outside of the .war file.
Then, although I have set pageCheckSeconds to -1 (don't check and don't recompile) ter production server still attempts to recompile the JSP's:
              Mon Sep 25 11:40:11 BST 2000:<I> <WebAppServletContext-gmi> *.jsp: init
Mon Sep 25 11:40:11 BST 2000:<I> <WebAppServletContext-gmi> *.jsp: param verbose initialized to: true

The default Java compiler from sun lives in the tools.jar that comes with
the JDK. Just add that to your set of JARs which are deployed in production
and you should be fine. No need to install the full JDK - just make the
              tools.jar available to WebLogic.

  • Can i use JSP to save Portuguese into Oracle8i ?

    Dear Sir,
I want to make a program using JSP to put Portuguese into Oracle8i.
    My Enviroment: Windows2000 Professional(Traditional chinese),Oracle8i(8.1.6 Enterprise),JBuilder5 Enterprise,JDBC
I had two strings in java, the first one's value was Traditional chinese, the second was Portuguese and then inserted them into Oracle. Their type of fields were Varchar2. Soon i got the strings and show in JSP, i could see the chinese but couldn't see Portuguese. In the Browser(MS IE), I changed the Encoding to West European,Unicode etc, also couldn't see. Can i see Chinese and Portuguese in the same time ?
i tried to change the type of field Varchar2 to NVarchar2, but couldn't use such as getString(JDBC method) to get the string.
How can i solve it ?
