Can we extract blob objects from sql database to a human readable format?

I have question How can we extract
blob objects from Sql database to human readable format ?
Blob includes Images, text and docs.

One thing you can do if its sql 2012 or later is to load the blob data to FileTable created in database. Then you would be able to physically browse to directory it points and see all files in its native format.

NORMALLY this is a 2-step process:
1.) Convert the ImageIcon into a byte-array
2.) Write the byte-array into the database/blob
For step 1 (this code is 'freehand'):

This is often database specific, but normally you select a column of a record for update, get the blob-object from the resultset and start writing bytes to it.
BUTTTTTTTT Consider this alternate approach: Assuming the image that is being sent is always small in size, you may simply chose to base-64 encode it and store the resultant string in a varchar column. When you read it back, base-64 decode it. Although the encoding/decoding may appear to be an overhead, I'll bet you it's much faster than blob-level access, both for reads and writes. It's also portable (code-wise) and you can update images through a simple UPDATE statement. In fact, if your database supports it, you could even have a default value for the column (a default image)...

In my ODI sql server is install.My Source is in SQL server and my target is in Oracle.
I need to create a interface mapping where i need to extract incremental data from sql server to oracle.
There is a datetime(with Timestamp) field in sql server .I need to pull incremental data based on dateime.
Example = tablename.DateTime > (select '1-jan-11' from dual) .....i am using this query but its not woking.the error is Invalid object name"dual".
We are not going to use Incremental in IKM and LKM.
Request you to please provide any suggestion ASAP.

You can do that via Variable.
In the interface mapping create a filter on Tablename.DateTime
and put the condition like this
Tablename.DateTime BETWEEN #VAR and in the variable use this query in refreshing tab with oracle schema
SELECT max(start_time)||' AND '||max(END_TIME)+1 from audit_table where ETL_JOB_CODE = '20'In the package call the above variable in refresh mode and then interface.
This way you will pass from the query between and condition date and pass to interface so that SQL Server fetches the data between those too range.
Note:- You might need to tweak the date format so that SQL Server can understand.

I need a SQL Script to get this job done. I cannot use backup restore or SSIS Package.

How to Copy (or) Transfer data in a BLOB Table From one database to another

Dear Members,
I want to Copy or Tranfer the data in a Table having BLOB Column from one database to another database.
The Problem is that I am using COPY Command.
COPY from scott/[email protected] to k5esk_ldb2/k5esk_ldb2@k5_ist.world CREATE BLOB_TABLE using select * from BLOB_TABLE;
This is working only if the table is not having BLOB Column or CLOB columns.
Is there any other way to do the same.
Appreciate any Help.

You could try using export/import utilities, but may run into tablespace issues if the tablespaces are not the same between the two databases. You can also try Data Pump using the REMAP_TABLESPACE variable if you tablespaces are different. You could also write your own export and import code...there are plenty of examples of that to copy.

Collecting objects for Transporting
1. rsa1->transport connection
2. left panel choose 'object type', middle panel choose 'infocube' and 'select objects'
3. then choose your infocube and 'transfer'
4. will go to right panel, choose collection mode 'manual' and grouping only 'necessary objects'
5. after objects collection finished, create request
6. If they are $TMP, then change the package.
7. When you click the Save on the change package, it will prompt for transport. Here you can provide an existing open transport request number, or if you like here itself you can create a new one.
8. You can check the request in SE09 to confirm.
Releasing Transport Request
Lets say you are transporting from BWD to BWQ
Step 1: In BWD go to TCode SE10
Step 2: Find the request and release it (Truck Icon or option can be found by right click on request #)
Note: First release the child request and then the parent request
Steps below are to import transport (generally done by basis )
Step 1: In BWQ go to Tcode STMS
Step 2: Click on Import queue button
Step 3: Double Click on the line which says BWQ (or the system into which transport has to be imported)
Step 4: Click on refresh button
Step 5: High light the trasnport request and import it (using the truck icon)

The following code works as of 7.0 (in any SAP system):

You are trying to append to that file, You should always use new file to serialize objects.
os = new FileOutputStream("Exrcise3.ex3");
Try with above line.

Actually using expert mode and choosing 'edit old status' is the only way to avoid objects being 'pulled in' after menu changes.

I am not speaking of downloading tables but about downloading roles from PFCG. This will not get you a spreadsheet but a flat textfile. If you whish to set the object status to deleted you'll have to swap the space on position 207, right behind the 'U, S, G' flag, with an 'X' for all corresponding lines.

You need to go to ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/Images and Control-click on each file and open it using Preview. Then you can export the image if you choose. Just keep in mind that these will be thumbnail quality, so don't expect large images, either in file size or physical size.
