Can we give *.* as an input parameter to java program.

i have a simple java program. In the program I’m giving the input parameter as *.*
But in the main method, I’m getting the argument value as a different one. The name of one of the file in the current directory. Any thing that starts with * like *.txt* is giving the file name in the directory.
How to parse the *.* through input parameter.
public class test
     public static void main(String args[]){
          System.out.println("arg[0]-->"+args[0]);
}

This is a shell thing, not a Java thing -- your command line shell is expanding things like dot or star. You need to quote it to pass it to your program, unexpanded. The quoting syntax depends on your shell, but try single or double quotes:
java UrPrgm '.' '*'
//or
java UrPrgm "." "*"

  • How can we calculate no. of instances in a java program ?

    Hi,
    I want to know that
    How can we calculate no. of instances in a java program ?
    Actually I just want to calculate number of live instances in a program at any time...
    Thanx in Advance
    Vijay

    Been asked a few times in this forum.
    Try having a search.
    One way, in brief, is to instrument your classes so that constructors update a per-type counter, and enqueue a PhantomReference for the instance.
    When you pop from an associated ReferenceQueue, decrement the counter for the no longer reachable type.
    Once you have this, you can query instance counts per type, or globably etc.
    We maintain a model which can be remotely queried - and display results over time using JGraph. Gives a fairly non-intrusive way to spot and narrow down the cause of memory leaks in a large application.

  • Crystal Report with text(csv) data file, can we set it as input parameter?

    Hi,
    I am a new user of Crystal Reports 2008.
    I have created a report with charts in it. The input data comes from a csv text file.
    Can I set the name of this text file as an input parameter?
    as I need to generate 44 similar reports with different text filenames(and data)?
    Thank you.
    Regards

    Brian,
    Thanks much.
    I did exactly what you said.
    Just to see any change, I first gave a bad report file name just to see if I am accidentally pointing to a different file,
    but I got an error saying report not found.
    Then I renamed my original datafile name and generated a report and it still generated one without giving an error.
    Then I also gave a junk name to the logoninfo and printed that name, the new name was assigned to logoninfo, but the code did not error out.
    It ended up generating the report.
    Now here is what I think is happening,
    1) The save data in report option seems to be still on even though I have turned it off in 2 locations
    a) file -> Report Options
    b) file -> Options -> Reporting tab.
    2) For some reason the logoninfo is getting ignored as well.
    Since I did not see any answers yesterday I posted a link to this thread on the .Net forum
    Crystal Report with text(csv) data file, can we set it as input param? C#
    and Ludek Uher says that I am connecting to the text file via a DAO database engine and so need to use the same code for changing the text file as for changing an Access database.
    But the link he gave me tells me to try the same thing that we have been trying..
    Here is my plan,
    1) I will first try and find out why my save data with report option is still on ( but it shows off in Crystal ).
    2) why is LogonInfo getting ignored.
    Meanwhile any suggestions from anyone are welcome.

  • Can a method be an input parameter?

    inside
    ActionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
      Object src = e.getSource();
         PlcManager.setWaitCursor(this);
         try{
              if(src == getBtnInquiry()){

                   ex.printStackTrace();
         } finally {
                   com.hmm.manager.PlcManager.setDefaultCursor(this);
    }I want to make it as:
    ActionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
          Object src = e.getSource();
          showWaitCursor(getBtnSave(), onActionSave());
    }Putting aside the tidieous issue of what is PlcManager,
    private void onActionSave()  {
      System.out.println("SAVE!");
    }just focus on the method can have another method as an input parameter.
    Please, let me know asap. Thanks -

  • How can I pass Recordsets as input parameter to a Function ?

    Hi Gurus,
    I want to create a function that receive recordsets as input parameter also returns recordsets as output.
    I have a requirement to do stock taking for all order items of one Order number in one single query execution (to avoid row by row basis).
    From the post in the forum I know that a function can return recordsets / query result using REF CURSOR or pipelined table function.
    My question is : how to pass the recordsets as input parameter to that function ?
    (because I could have 75 rows item in one order number)
    Below is the DDL and the query :
    create table stocks (Product char(4), Warehouse char(5), expireddate date, qty_available number)
    insert into stocks values('P001', 'WH001', '01-dec-2006', 30)
    insert into stocks values('P001', 'WH002', '01-dec-2006', 50)
    insert into stocks values('P001', 'WH002', '01-jan-2007', 50 )
    insert into stocks values('P001', 'WH001', '01-Mar-2007', 150)
    insert into stocks values('P002', 'WH003', '01-dec-2006', 25)
    insert into stocks values('P002', 'WH003', '15-Jan-2007', 50)
    insert into stocks values('P002', 'WH003', '01-Mar-2007', 75)
    insert into stocks values('P003', 'WH001', '01-dec-2006', 30)
    insert into stocks values('P003', 'WH002', '15-Jan-2007', 40)
    insert into stocks values('P003', 'WH003', '01-Mar-2007', 50)
    CREATE TABLE Order_Detail (PRODUCT_ORD CHAR(4), QTY_ORD number, Priority_WH CHAR(5) )
    INSERT INTO Order_Detail VALUES ('P001', 75, 'WH003') // previously 'WH002'
    INSERT INTO Order_Detail VALUES ('P002', 45, 'WH002')
    INSERT INTO Order_Detail VALUES ('P003', 55, NULL)
    The query for stock taking :
    select product,warehouse,expireddate, least(qty_available-(sm - qty_ord),qty_available) qty
    from ( select product,warehouse,expireddate,qty_available,qty_ord, sum(qty_available) over(partition by product order by s.product,expireddate,decode(warehouse,priority_wh,0,1),warehouse ) sm
    from stocks s,order_detail o
    where s.product = o.product_ord order by s.product,expireddate,decode(warehouse,priority_wh,0,1) )
    where (sm - qty_ord) < qty_available

    Hi,
    This my requirement :
    I have (simplified)Order_Detail as below :
    CREATE TABLE Order_Detail (PRODUCT_ORD CHAR(4), QTY_ORD number, Priority_WH CHAR(5) )
    INSERT INTO Order_Detail VALUES ('P001', 75, 'WH003') // previously 'WH002'
    INSERT INTO Order_Detail VALUES ('P002', 45, 'WH002')
    INSERT INTO Order_Detail VALUES ('P003', 55, NULL)
    Then I want to do stock taking from my STOCK table (described on my first post on this thread)
    create table stocks (Product char(4), Warehouse char(5), expireddate date, qty_available number)
    The rule is : The stok taking is on First In First Out basis, on expireddate.
    And I want to do it in single query.
    I want to make this a Function / Stored Procedure so that other transaction can also make use of this query.
    That is why I need to pass the 3 rows oy mr Order_Detail above, do the query, and return the result.
    Then INSERT the result into ORDER_DETAIL_PER_EXPIRED_DATE table.
    I hope this clear my requirement, is this possible ?
    Thank you,
    xtanto

    I store the input parameter through Standard Action <jsp:useBean>.
    jsp:useBean call a property IssueData. this property exist in
    SimpleBean which create a connection from DB and insert the data.
    At run time servlet and server also show that loggging are saved in DB.
    But when I open the table in Access. Its empty.

  • How to register varray datatype input parameter in concurrent program

    Hi All,
    I had a code contains varray datatype input parameter... Now i need to register this in concurret program screen.. which datatype i need to select?... i can able to see only number and character data type in value set.
    Thanks

    As mentioned, the Concurrent progrm APIs are just wrappers and the datatypes are limited. Now, how many items you expect to have in the array as a maximum? You could use the same wrapper concept to collect the array values individually (up to 100) and then just load them to an array to be passed to your stored procedure. Just have an overloaded version with values1..valuesn that is only used as the entry point and then load the values to the structure needed by the program unit containing your logic. There is a limit of 100 parameters, though.

  • How can I execute a batch file from my java program

    Hi,
    Can someone help me or direct me to a link,
    How can I execute a DOS batch file from my java program?
    Thanks

    You will need to grab a handle to the process's
    outputstream so u can see its output.The OP didn't mention any output from any batch file;
    nor any input for that
    matter,so lets not complicate matters here for now
    ok?Actually I think this is essential to see whether it works or not. It's either that or do some manual check to see whether it ran, which is not exactly elegant, and in some cases this may not be easier than simply writing the output stream code, or in fact it may be impossible to check manually.
    I'm sure it wasn't intentional that your post appeared to be bristling with attitude.

  • CAN i CALL OLAP DML THROUGH JDBC IN JAVA PROGRAM

    I HAVE ORACLE V 9.2.0.1.0 AND AFTER CREATING A CUBE FROM ENTERPRISE CONSOLE I HAVE TO GO WITH EITHER SQL PACKAGES OR OLAP DML PROGRAMS ,SO PLS GIVE ME PROPER WAY AND LINK OF SOURCES TO WORK WITH OLAP DML IN JAVA PROGRAMS
    CAN I USE AS PREPARED STATEMENT OR CREATE STATEMENT IN JAVA
    TO CALL OLAP DML? BECAUSE NORMALLY WE MUST USE OLAP WORKSHEET TO EXECUTE OLAP COMMANDS

    The access OLAP objects via Java you have two options. You can code directly against the OLAP API and I think someone has already provided you with the link to the supporting documentation. The OLAP API docs provide worked examples on access OLAP metadata and retrieving OLAP data. However, this is extremely low level coding. An alternative is to use the Business Intelligence Beans. Oracle Business Intelligence Beans enables developers to productively build business intelligence applications that take advantage of the rich OLAP functionality in the Oracle database. OracleBI Beans includes presentation beans - graph and crosstab, data beans - query and calculation builders and persistence services, which may be deployed in both HTML client and Java client applications. OracleBI Beans is seamlessly integrated into Oracle JDeveloper to provide the most productive development environment for building custom BI applications. For more information goto the the BI Beans home page

    Specifically on executing OLAP DML see the following example:

    Adding controls to execute OLAP DML      This viewlet demonstrates how to quickly and easily add the controls to execute OLAP DML models that can be executed to update the What If presentation.

  • Can we give an external input to 5610 upconverter

    Hi,
    This is just to clarify a
    technical doubt concerning with NI RFSG..
    We have purchased two PXI 1033 chassis(one with
    5610 upconverter and the other with 5600 down converter) for our project...Now
    we are trying to test the transmiter system only..We have
    successfully installed the transmitter system consisting of the chassis with
    5610.The OS has successfully detected the system.Next comes programming of 5610
    to get an RF output of desired RF frequency and power level.For this we
    connected an external IF frequency source from a signal generator(IFR
    2050T)because we don't have AWG in the chassis.We have completed
    setup,configuration and self-testing of 5610 in MAX and the RF output from 5610
    was monitored using spectrum analyser (HP MS710A).Unfortunately we are not able
    to program 5610. The VI was similar to fig 19 of "Getting Started Guide NI RF
    SIGNAL GENERATORS".When the VI is run, the following error comes"session could
    not be opened because the AWG resource name was not specified.Specify the AWG
    resource name in the MAX or in the option string".
    Please clarify whether we can program 5610 with an
    external IF signal independent of AWG(because our system doesn't contain
    AWG)
    Looking forward for your immediate reply.
                                                                    Thank
    you.

    Hi ,
    This is Faris Alhorr from national Instruments.Before answering your question, let me clarify this. I believe that you sent an email yesterday and for some reason whenever I try to reply to  it keeps on bouncing back. ( it could be that you supplied the wrong email address).
    To answer your question, you can use the 5610 in upconverter mode only. There's an example in LV that shows you how to do that.
    You can find the example in LV under Help >> Find Examples >> Hardware Input and Output >> Modular Instruments >> NI-RFSG >> Utilities.
    Also make sure that you are setting the AWG in MAX to external. You can do so by right clicking on the 5610 in MAX.
    I'm glad that you posted here, and please let me know if you have any other questions.
    Best Regards,

    Hi David,
    This GROUP_TYPE option is not available anymore in 11.2.0.2 anymore it seems !.
    I posted a question about this today on the owb blog that triggered it all for me.
    I was trying to work tru your example of Table Function Operators and stumbled upon a OMBplus script that doesn't work anymore.
    It now says:
    OMB+> OMBALTER MAPPING 'TF_REFCURSOR_PARAM' MODIFY GROUP 'INGRP1' OF OPERATOR 'GET_EMPS' SET PROPERTIES (GROUP_TYPE) VALUES ('REF_CURSOR')
    OMB02902: Error setting property GROUP_TYPE of INGRP1: MMM1034: Property GROUP_TYPE does not exist.
    And indeed looking at the 11.1. ref doc it is mentioned but not anymore in 11.2.
    (search for group_type)
    11.1 :
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/owb.111/b31279/omb_4create_1.htm
    11.2:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/owb.112/e14406/chap3006.htm#GDBBAFBF
    But the UI doesn't have the option either !
    How do i use a TFO with a ref_cursor ?
