Can we implement goldengate replication between Oracle to Oracle using RMAN

Dear All,
I have already implemented Oracle Golden Gate Between Oracle Database 11gR2 on Linux.
The method I have been using to copy database on Target is like this:
select dbms_flashback.get_system_change_number() from dual;
expdp user/password directory=backup_dir flashback_scn=1355907575 dumpfile=gg.dmp logfile=gg.log schemas=radius
scp radius_dsl_gg.dmp [email protected]:/backup
impdp user/password directory=backup_dir dumpfile=gg.dmp logfile=gg.log schemas=radius
I want to replace this data pump with RMAN, because most of the time I don't have enough disk space to take data pump in production server. How can I replace it with RMAN and how can i track new records inserted in production database like we use flashback_scn in data pumps. Or is there any other better solution.
Has anyone done this, kindly share your knowledge.
Regards, Imran

You don't need a dump file for DataPump, you can load directly through a database link thus eliminating the space required for the intermediate dump file.
With RMAN you will either be looking for a point-time DB restore/recover as of specific SCN and then you can start the Replicat from that SCN. You can do a TSPITR + TTS if replicated data is a small subset of the entire database. If you can put the entire tablsapce to be read only then you can get away with only TTS as well. You configure Extract before you start any restore/recover and that's how you track outstanding changes.

  • Replication between Oracle Server and MS SQL Server

    Hello,
Does anybody know of a well known or reliable software that can do data replication between Oracle Server and Microsoft SQL server.
I suppose I can write my own version using Heterogenous Services in Oracle but I would like to know if such an automated replication between Oracle and SQL is available commercially.
    Thank you.

    Sorry, Aman,
I couldn't find any info about replication to MS SQL. Is it possible at all? Could you provide link where we can read about this? It could be very interesting.Sorry Viacheslav, even I couldn't find anything for the same. I am not sure that it can be done or not, I haven't heard anyone in my contact doing so. The only place where I have seen Streams being used around me is within Oracle db only. May be someone else can help if he/she has done it.

  • REPLICATION BETWEEN ORACLE 10g and postgresql/MySQL/MSSQL SERVER??

    Hi Friends.
I want to know if there are a manner of replication between ORACLE and (postgresql or mysql or mssqlserver).
Please, my email is [email protected]
    Thanks
    Manuel

    Sure.
Are you talking about replicating data in one direction? If so, in which direction (Oracle to non-Oracle or non-Oracle to Oracle)? Or are you talking about bidirectional replication?
Which database do you want to be the "master" (i.e. initiate the push or pull of data)?
What sort of lag is acceptable? Minutes? Hours? Days?

  • Data Replication Between Sqlserver and Oracle11g using materialized view.

I have Sqlserver 2005 as my source and oracle11g as my target.I need to populate the target daily with change data from source.
for that we have created a dblink between sqlserver and oracle and replicated that table as a Materialized view in Oracle.
problem we are getting here is Fast refresh option is not available.each day it will pick full data from the source.
is there any way to use Fast refresh in this scenario??
    Thanks in advance.

  • GoldenGate Replication or Oracle 11g Streams?

We are working with a customer that is interested in implementing Oracle 11g Streams.
I don’t know the GoldenGate products and
I am not real familiar with streams other then hearing it can be tough to tune and if something goes wrong, it can be a pain to get right..
They recently heard of Oracle’s purchase or GoldenGate and became interested when they read that the company may offer possibly a simpler replication strategy then streams as far as setup, tuning, maintainin, etc..
Has anyone heard of what Oracle’s future plans/direction are for integrating GoldenGate into their fold, specifically the replication side like streams?
    Thanks

I predict that in the future the GoldenGate Oracle users are going to get the short end of the stick now that Oracle has purchased them. I do not believe that Oracle purchased GoldenGate for their Oracle to Oracle capabilities. I assume that they wanted to acquire their ability to replicate from non-Oracle databases.
There is nothing inherently wrong (design-wise) that makes the Oracle Streams product inferior to GoldenGate or Quest's Shareplex product. But both companies have continued to sell their products (which are not cheap) against a product which basically free.
Why is this? Do you think that Oracle does not have the technical capabilities to build a great replication solution? If Oracle was interested in making a great Oracle to Oracle replication product, they could have invested a small fraction of the amount they paid for GoldenGate and added the necessary resources to build the best replication product on the market. But the don't because that is not what they are interested in doing.
There are a couple of press releases that Oracle put out about the GoldenGate acquisition and one of the advantages they claim GoldenGate will benefit from is their $30 Billion dollar R&D budget. But why didn't Oracle use some of that 30 billion to make Streams a great product??
Oracle purchased GG for reasons that have nothing to do with Oracle to Oracle replication. Future resources and priorities will go towards those goals.

  • Data Replication between Oracle 9i and 10g

    Hello,
I have a question regarding possible Replication Models between Oracle 9i and 10g. Does anybody know a possible way to syncronize the schema data between a 9i and 10g database in realtime?
If yes can you please post perhaps a link with a kind of how to?
    Many thanks to all,
    Bob...

You can read this metalink note 370850.1 - there are bit more ways of replication discussed.
Yes, platforms can be different, but recomendation is to use the same platform for both databases.

  • Replication between Oracle 7 and Oracle 10g. Is it possible?

    Hello,
I have two DBs which exist on two different versions of Oracle (7.3.3 and 10g). Those DBs have different structures of tables, data from which can be casted from one structure to other. Can I organise bi-directional replication between those DBs. To make the point clear, can I replicate data from Oracle 7.3.3 to 10g and vice versa.
Duration of synchronization should be less than 1 minute.
I would be very pleased if somebody gives my a reference on online oracle documentation because I can't find answer in it to my questions.
If the possability of application of replication is questionable, can you give an advice which technology I have to apply in my situation. For instance, perhaps, it is convenient to use triggers.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
ObjectMMRS (http://www.object.com.br/wiki) can make what you need, replicate data between different Oracle database versions and between Oracle and other database brands too.
Documentation still in Portuguese only (Translation in progress) but I can help you install and try, maybe one or two days of work and you will be able to replicate.
Contact me at [email protected] if you want to try the ObjectMMRS (low cost replication software suite), no technical support fees for trial, and 30 days license expiration.

I am using OracleAS for portal deployment and portlets UI constructed by using jstl.
i have used spring portlet jstl for the jsp pages.
when i am trying to change the language, it is showing '?????' symbols.
I have used correct unicode. i tested in pluto portal server. when i deployed in oracleAS,
for english not a problem. for arabic it is showing as '????'.
i have used this code to get arabic in pluto. same code i used. i am getting error.
    <c:set target="${pageContext.response}" property="characterEncoding" value="UTF-8" />
    <fmt:setLocale value="ar" />
    <fmt:requestEncoding value="UTF-8" />
i know it is not setting charector encoding.
i tried some other too like:
    <head>
    <META http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=UTF-8"/>

    <%@ page pageEncoding="UTF-8" %>
No improvement. please help me out of this.
how can i get arabic support in oracle AS by using jstl?

Only Apple Account Security could help at this point. You can try calling Apple Support in Canada - you'll have to find one of the several ways, such as Skype, to call an 800 number from outside of the relevant country - and ask for Account Security and see if they can help. Or you can find a friend who speaks Chinese and ask them to help you talk to Apple Support in China. There are really no other options that I know of.
Note, by the way, that these are user-to-user support forums. You aren't speaking with Apple when you post here.

  • Can't get a delimiter between Reapting Table Fields using the Double Eval formula.

I have a problem in setting up the "Double Eval" formula, for a repeating table field.
    Background:
I have a multiple-selection list box in an InforPath (2010) form. I want to concat all selected values in the list box and display them in a textbox with ";" as delimiter. I've gotten so far that with rules running when the list box is updated, the
textbox content is updated listing the IDs of the selected items (I'm not sure yet if I want to display the IDs or make a lookup for the true text values, but that's another issue for later...).
    Problem:
My problem is that I can't get the delimiter between the values. They are all listed in sequence with the ";" delimiter only at the end.
I use the following formula ("Required" is the repeating field)
    eval(eval(Required; 'concat(., ";")'); "..")
    and get the following result:
What I want to get into the comments text box is the string "684;239;91;".
Any ideas what's wrong with my formula?
(Using InforPath 2010 on a list published to SharePoint 2010.)

Additional info that maybe is important to know:
The multiple-selection list box is getting its values from a secondary data connection using a web service call:
    http://MySite/_vti_bin/ListData.svc/MyList?$filter=((CT%20eq%20'Product')%20and%20(CompGroup%20ne%20'OS'))&$orderby=Title
The selections in my list box is yet stored in the field "Required" in a different SharePoint list, we can call it "BaseList", at the same site ("MySite").
    So to summerize:
    List 1: MySite/MyList
    Fields: CT, CompGroup, Title
    List 2: MySite/BaseList
    Fields: Required
The different lists have more fields of course, but no need to list them all.

  • Database replication between Oracle RAC and Oracle Standalone DB

    Hi,
We have currently 4 node RAC environment and Oracle RAC implementation with 4 Oracle instances. We want to move the one instance and make it Standalone with Oracle database due to availability issue. Thus we will remain with 3 nodes on the RAC database and one Standalone database. We want to implement Oracle replication on this solution, where partial database of RAC environment needs to be replicated to Standalone node.
We will have Oracle 9i database server for both RAC and Standalone machine.
The partial data that we are looking for replication are of size 25GB. Some of questions we have:
    1. Is there any other replication mechanism apart from Materilzed view for this solution?
    2. Is it feasible to sychronize around 25GB data between servers?
    3. What can be estimated time for refresh or Synchronization?
    Thanks in advance for help.

The methods that we are evaluating currently for this replication are:
    1. Multi Master replication
    2. Oracle 9i Datagaurd.
Please let me know if we need to look for some other methods of replication also.

    2. Is it feasible to sychronize around 25GB data between servers?Sure. Depending on the rate of change, your latency requirements, whether the standalone database has the horsepower to apply all the changes generated by to other three nodes, etc.
    3. What can be estimated time for refresh or Synchronization?Depends on the architecture, the network connection, whether you are doing incremental refreshes, etc. And it depends on what time you're measuring-- you might be measuring the latency between the RAC cluster and the standalone database, you might be measuring the time it takes to incrementally refresh a single materailized view when there have been no changes, you might be measuring the time it takes to do a complete refresh of an entire refresh group, pulling 25 GB of data over the network.
The methods that we are evaluating currently for this replication are:
    1. Multi Master replication
    2. Oracle 9i Datagaurd.DataGuard is not an option if you only want to replicate a subset of the data. The two realistic options are materialized views and Streams. Are you anticipating that you will be making changes on both nodes? If not, you can use simple materialized views rather than multi-master replication.
Since 9.2 is not longer covered by Premier Support, are you planning to upgrade to a supported version in the near future? In particular, Streams works a lot better in later versions of the database.

    Hi,
I am Oracle Apps HRMS Technical Consultant.
I wanted to know,if we can implement Digital Signatures in XML Reports for Oracle Apps HRMS 11i Aplication.
If yes, what is the approach to do so.
    Your quick response is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Aasma Sayyad.

    Hi Aasma,
The standard BI Publisher is part of EBS applications.
Most of the EBS reports(R12) are based on BI Publisher.
If you check the responsibility 'XML Publisher Administrator' you will see all the templates used in the application.
Your technical team should already know this.
On the other hand OBIEE would need separate licences.
But for you BI Publisher would do.
    Cheers,
    Vignesh
