Can we use SSIS to extract Essbase Outline

I am not sure if this is the appropriate place to raise this question.
I am working with Essbase and SSIS. In SSIS there is no way where we can connect to Essbase as source or destination.
Is there any way where we can connect Essbase as data source to extract data or matadata from Essbase using SSIS.
If anyone has tried it out then please give some guidelines to implement the same

There is no way to conduct an Outline extraction using MS SSIS by itself. There was discussion a while back on using XMLA to do so but that is not possible either.
Depending on what exactly you need from your Essbase outline, you can use MS Reporting Services to report on an Essbase Cube. This is very possible.
So, if you are trying to get dimensionality, etc you could possible pull in this data into reporting services and then export to a CSV file, etc. However, you wouldn't be able to get all of the possbile metadata from the outline that you wish. I really depends on how complex the request/requirement of what you doing actual is.
Your best best is really going to be to use one of the popular outline extractors like Razza or AppliedOLAPs.

I have had the same error on SQL2008 and now on SQL2012 SSIS, but have been able to eliminate / workaround.
We have a Loop Container in our Control flow that contains a data-flow task with an MDX source. The MDX query for the data-flow source is dynamically built (via an expression) on each iteration of the Loop container (however it always returns the "same shaped"
results - only the filters in the WHERE clause are different).
We've found the error to be somewhat intermittent - sometimes the package will complete successfully, other times it will fail with the 0x80040E05 error at varying iterations thru the container loop.
To alleviate the problem we setup the SQL Agent job-step for this package to re-try on failure for up to 5 retries - not an ideal workaround, but it helped to improve the success rate of the Job.
We have no idea why this error is occurring or what is causing it, however it appears to be timing-related in some way and I have only seen the issue when using a SSAS OLE-DB data source with a dynamically generated MDX query. I have managed to virtually
eliminate the error from occurring with a not ideal workaround in the SSIS package - no idea why this works/helps (hopefully Microsoft will be able to work it out and resolve the issue as it's been plaguing us since SQL2008 and is still here in SQL2012

Workaround for MDX causing 0x80040E05 error:
Within our loop container we have added a Script task with OnSuccess precedent constraint to the data-flow task that contains the dynamically generated MDX source query. The script task simply introduces a WAIT in the processing immediately after the
data-flow task completes of about 5 seconds, before allowing SSIS to continue with the next iteration (e.g. System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(5000)).
With this delay in place we have had much more stable SSIS package executions - dont know why, but that's what we havce observed. Also note that when we migrated to SQL2012 SSIS packages the 0x80040E05 error returned, however we were able to eliminate it
once more by increasing the WAIT time to 10 seconds on this script task.
Now waiting for 10 seconds is not an ideal solution / workaround to this problem - particularly when it is contained within a Loop Container (in our case it has added nearly 30 minutes of "WAIT time" to the package execution duration), however this workaround
is better than having the package fail 80%+ of the time...

How can I use Automator to extract specific Data from a text file?

I have several hundred text files that contain a bunch of information. I only need six values from each file and ideally I need them as columns in an excel file.
How can I use Automator to extract specific Data from the text files and either create a new text file or excel file with the info? I have looked all over but can't find a solution. If anyone could please help I would be eternally grateful!!! If there is another, better solution than automator, please let me know!

Hyperion Business Rules - Updating to use New Member in Essbase Outline

We have a business rule that needs updated to include a new cost center.
"Allocated Account" = ("Account 1"->CC1->Product->Project->"Channel 1" + "Account 1"->CC2->Product->Project->"Channel 1") / ("Account 5"->CC_3->Product->Project->"Channel 1" + "Account 5"->CC_4->Product->Project->"Channel 1");
CC2 is a cost center that we just added to the Essbase outline and does not have data yet. When I try to validate the business rule, I get an error:
Cannot calculate. Essbase Error(1200497): Error compiling formula for [Allocated Account] (line 33): unknown member name [CC2] in function ...
I am new to business rules and have no clue why it doesn't like the new cost center.

Yes, I can find the member name in the outline. I don't understand what you mean by "refreshing" the outline. I have saved the outline.

I am new to SSIS and wondering if this is possible and if so can anyone explain to me the data flow that would be necessary. We are currently upgrading our databases. During this process we need to change values of medical lookup values from the first
database and insert the updated medical lookup codes into the new database. Does SSIS have a data flow task that would allow me to lookup values from 1st database and tranform them into new database based on matches. I have a flat file with columns of
old lookup values and the ones that need to go into the new database. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. You can use SSIS data flow for this. You need a package with flow as below
1. data flow task with flat file source connecting to flatfile
2. Lookup task to lookup wuth table on old values. Set lookup failure action as redirect row to No match output.
3. Join Match output to OLEDB command and write update statement to update oldvalues with new ones
update query would be like
UPDATE Table
SET FieldName = ?
WHERE FieldName = ?
and map 0 to new value and 1 to old value in parameter mapping tab

Can you use a gradient on an outline?

I am using the outline colour as the colour for a line but want to use a gradient on it. when I select the line (with no fill colour) and then click on the gradient tool it automatically goes to the fill and I get a horrible look.
I'm self-taught in Illustrator so this may be really basic but it's the first time I've used it!

Real gradients can only be applied to fills, but there are ways to simulate the appearance of a gradient on a stroke without actually applying one.
If it is sufficient that it looks like the stroke is "filled" with the gradient in a flat way, then you can do it by using the Appearance palette to actually apply the gradient to a fill, and then either crop it to a stroke (using Effect>Pathfinder>Crop), or else just make two fills, with the bottom one being a little outset from the top one. The former would be used if you wanted the path to be unfilled, the latter if you wanted it to be filled.
Here are some pictures of what this looks like, and the Appearance palette setup:
You can generate the set of little pieces either using the Blend tool, or by expanding a gradient-filled rectangle (Object>Expand). If you use the latter method, you must release the clipping mask that is created by the gradient expansion before defining the brush, since brushes also cannot contain clipping paths.

How can I use Automator to extract information from the body of an email sent from a web form.. and the import it into Highrise?

I'm assuming that Automator is the way to go. I've never used it before but from research it seems to be the way to go. Also, I'm not good at programming at all.

If it's too difficult to get it directly into Highrise then I'm aslo happy to extract the info into excel and the import into Highrise. However I do not want to have to run through that proceedure for every single email.

How can I use my shape as an outline and color in the blank spaces in between?

It looks like it's reading the outline as both outline AND filler.

You would have to restore you iPhone to factory settings, if you can not do this from your pc try it on another computer with iTunes (one you have never sync'd with). After you have restore to new it should remove the passcode (and all other data on the phone), then simply plug it into the computer you normally sync with and restore from back up.
Edit: Try restoring in recovery mode first (if you do not have another computer near by), the link for restoring in recovery mode is below.

I have created a Subprocedure CreateEventList
which populates an EventsComboBox
with a current day's events (if any).
I need to store the events in a generic List communityEvents
which is a collection of
communityEvent
objects. This List needs to be created and assigned to the instance variable
communityEvents.
This method should call helper method ExtractData
which will use LINQ to extract the data from my file.
The specified day is the date selected on the calendar control. This method will be called from the CreateEventList.
This method should clear all data from List communityEvents.
A LINQ
query that creates CommunityEvent
objects should select the events scheduled for selected
day from the file. The selected events should be added to List
communityEvents.

You can do a (select new CommunityEvent) just like the example is doing a
select new FileToWatch and load the XML data into the CommunityEvent properties.
So you need to learn how to make a manual XML textfile with XML data in it, and you need to learn how to use LINQ to read the XML. Linq is not going to work against some flat text file you created. There are plenty of examples out on Bing and Google
on how to use Linq-2-XML.

I have following doubts regarding loading data to Hyperion planning by a custom connector
1) Loading data to Hyperion Planning application using Essbase Java API would be possible at application layer (Hyperion Planning) or at database layer (loading data directly to essbase database) ?
2) If we load data directly to essbase database how are we going to recognize which essbase server is connected with Hyperion Planning application ? Does user require to know in advance the underlying databse server ? Is there any API in Essbase or in Planning to connect to Planning application ?
3) If we load data directly to essbase database how to find out Planning applications and essbase application ? In other words how to differentiate between essbase applications and Hyperion Planning appllications ? Or How to recognize Planning applications ? Is there any API in Essbase to find out this ?
4) If we read data directly from Essbase how do we recognize data from a Planning application ?
5) What is the difference between Classic planning application and EPMA planning application ? Can we develop a connector to work with both these flavour or type ?

Using SQL Server 2012 SSIS to Extract Data From SAP

What is the current best practice for using SQL Server 2012 SSIS to extract data from SAP R3? Please note we are looking for a solution that does not use SAP BW or SAP OHS.
Ideally we would like to build our ETL SSIS process to make a .NET call to an SAP RFC procedure and avoid using web services.
With SS2012 can we use any of these without using SAP BW:
- SAP .NET Connector
- MS ADO .NET
- BizTalk .NET 3.0 Adapter

You can use the .NET Framework Data Provider for mySAP Business Suite along with SQL Server Integration Service (SSIS) to import data from an SAP system into SQL Server database tables, flat files, or other compatible destination types. You can create an SSIS
package that can be executed to import data from an SAP system.
You must use the SQL Server Import and Export wizard to import data into the SQL Server database. You must provide a select query to specify data to be imported. The query must confirm to the semantics supported by the Data Provider for SAP. You can start the
SQL Server Import Export Wizard either from the SQL Server Management Studio or from an Integration Service project in Visual Studio. Detail steps please see:

SSIS can only recognize the absolute path of a XML Configuration file, the relative path is not supported. Furthermore, if the XML Configuration file is already generated, we can use the Environment variable package configuration type instead so that
SSIS runtime automatically looks for the configuration file from the path defined in the environment variable. This is convenient when we need to deploy a package to different environment. We only need to define the environment variable for package configurations
once on each server, and then the variable can be used by all the packages on this server.

I have a bunch of excel files in a specified folder. I wanted to combine all the excel files into one excel file by adding additional tabs in one excel file. Can I do this using SSIS?

Actually the complete package is this:
Step1: Using FTP task I'm downloading the bunch of excel files into a folder.
Step2: Above implementation is the second step that I have to do.

You can do it in two steps
1. First get all data from excel sheets to a sql staging table. For that you need to use a looping logic as explained in below link (you dont required the additional logic used for checking file name etc in below example as you need all files). Also make
