Can you buy just one license for remote desktop

i want to access a single computer from another laptop. is the 10 license copy of remote desktop all that is available? if so, can someone offer me any other solutions?

I use the VNC Client 'Chicken of the VNC' which you can get from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/cotvnc/
Tiger already comes with a VNC Server installed - simply go to the control panel, click on 'Sharing' and turn on ARD as an option there. Then click on the button 'Access Privileges' and tick the option 'VNC viewers can take control of the screen with password...' (and put in a password too...).
VNC allows you to have pretty much complete control of the computer remotely - you see a window with the desktop visible on the computer running COTVNC (or whatever). However VNC does not support file transfer too / from or allow you to do things like install software remotely (and whatever else ARD would allow). But you can simulate most of these other ways if required.

Can You Lock Just One Page but not whole site?

I'm sure this was answered -- but now I cannot find it in the topic list.
I want a particular site to be open to one and all. But I want to lock just one page on that site -- which would require a user name and password. My attempts so far end up locking the entire site.
Any suggestions?

There is one that mentions creating a second one page site and passwording it with a hyperlink in the first site. Might be the way to go. I don't believe you can currently password just one page.

I have an iMac and an HP laptop, can I use my one license for both?

So I asked the other day how many computers one purchase, of the education version, would cover and Adobe told me two. Now I want to know if they will cross platforms. I am looking to ask for a new desktop for Christmas and I want a iMac, but I am worried that I won't be able to get cs5 on that and my pc laptop. So I guess my question is can one license cross platforms, and what computer should I get?
I am partial to the user friendliness of Mac, but all my training and other programs are for pc.
You can see my dilemma. Please help!

Unfortunately no NobleC. The only way to reduce the cost would be if you purchased a volume license. But to receive a discount you would need to purchase more than two copies.
If you are not planning on using the Mac primarily for your creative work you could use a Windows virtual machine to run the software. The performance would not be on par with running it on the Mac natively but should be ok for minor editting and opening documents. The other option would be using Boot camp to boot into Windows and install our software while running Windows natively via Boot camp.

Ihave had to buy 2 chargers due to the fact that the square adapter was left behind,,, the charger is the same color as the face plate and was not noticed. Can you buy just the square adapter instead of the whole unit?

Licensing for Remote Desktop Gateway

I searched a lot on several forum to gain an answer to my question. There is a lot of misunderstanding out there on the need for licensing for the Remote Desktop Gateway.
I want to implement only the server role Remote Desktop Gateway for 20 users to connect remote to Window 7 computers in the LAN. The 20 remote users initiate the connection from they're own Windows 7 Laptop. The connection is:
Windows 7 --- Remote Desktop Gateway --- Windows 7
The remote users use software for production environments (PLC/DCS) on the Windows 7 computers in the LAN. So in this situation the remote users will not connect to session host servers (terminal servers). They only use the gateway to act as a proxy for
RDP connections to the Windows 7 PC's in the LAN.
What kind of licensing do i need for this situation?
Do i need RDCAL's?
Do i need Windows server device CAL's for the 20 devices of the 20 users that initiate the connection to the gateway?

One other option you could consider, which is free, is to use 1 public IP address with 20 ports that NAT's and Port Forwards to the 20 internal computers.
Example:
If you have 1 available public IP address (let's say 1.2.3.4), and you assign static IP addresses (192.168.0.201 - .220) to the 20 internal computers, the firewall would NAT:
1.2.3.4:50001 -> 192.168.0.201:3389
1.2.3.4:50002 -> 192.168.0.202:3389
1.2.3.4:50003 -> 192.168.0.203:3389
1.2.3.4:50020 -> 192.168.0.220:3389
This way, remote users would connect directly to their computer without the need for any additional licenses.

Can I buy a 'floating' license for CC?

In my studio there are about 5 desktop computers that are using by both permanent employees and freelancers who work with us. We are not big Photoshop users so only one person at a time would typically use Photoshop.
Is it legal to license the software to my company , rather than my employees, e.g. to '[email protected]'. Then install the software on all five machines but activate / deactivate the software as needed so it's only active on one computer at a time?

If you decide to get a CC subscription you can have the software installed on as many computers as you want but only two computers can be activated at a time in order to use an application. You can then deactivate the software on any of the activated machines and activate it on another machine which will allow another person to use the software.
As far as the licensing is concerned. Each machine would need to use the same account that was used to purchase the software in order to activate it under the single software license. I would recommend using your mentioned [email protected] e-mail account for the subscription so that the license isn't tied to a specific person. That way should anyone leave your studio you'll be able to disable their e-mail account without impacting any notifications you may get from Adobe about your license or Adobe account.
Keep in mind that in order to activate the software the user will need to enter the e-mail address and password you created when you purchased the license which means that the user would have access to the full account if they were to log into the web portal. Just something to keep in mind.

Some subscriptions have minimum 3 months. If subscription doesn't display 1 month option then there's no other way to get 1 month at the moment

Can you restore just one app?

Could not sync backup after updating to 4.2. decided to set up as new iPad. Really only two apps that had data I would like to recover. Is there a way to recover data from a single app at a time rather than try the complete restore process that hangs about a third of the way.

Unfortunately, there is no way to save the data for individual apps unless those apps use iOS file sharing and you can transfer the files to your computer or send the files/documents using DropBox.
There simply is no practical way to troubleshoot this without just adding one app at a a time to the iPad until the problem creeps up again. That entails deleteing all of the apps and starting over again.

Yes, you can.
The iPhoto Library contains all your iPhoto contents, it's in your Pictures folder on the account on the MacAir.
If you just want one photo out, then you can right click on iPhoto Library and "show package contents" and inside is a fodler called Originals, open that and locate your picture and copy it over.
You also can export via the iPhoto program on the Air.
Use a external drive or USB thumb drive depending how much you have.
If your Air is worthless as a machine and you need to access the storage drive...

As a note, just because your iTunes may have come through iCloud doesn't mean it's safe, supposedly someone here deleted their old machine data and thus all the newer machines iTunes music disappeared....
I don't trust or use the Cloud for anything after reading horror stories like that and others...

I presume you are asking about "MiFi", which are units that allow a WiFi-equpped device to connect to a cell carrier's data network. AT&T does have such a device:

Verizon offers a similar device, as may other cell carriers.
Alternatively, if the iPad was just purchased in the last 14 days (assuming the Apple Store; dealers may have different policies) and you can get the receipt, you could perhaps return the unit for credit against a 3G iPad.
