    Yes, I think most of us do understand what open source software is. It sounds as if you don't. Here's some information:
    Open-source software (OSS) is computer software that is available in source code form: the source code and certain other rights normally reserved forcopyright holders are provided under an open-source license that permits users to study, change, improve and at times also to distribute the software.
    Open source software is very often developed in a public, collaborative manner. Open-source software is the most prominent example of open-sourcedevelopment and often compared to (technically defined) user-generated content or (legally defined) open content movements.

    Yes, Tom Wu of Stanford wrote a paper on something called Secure Remote Access Protocol. It's a form of Asymetric Key Exchange and has nothing to do with hacking anything. It's actually intended to protect data.

  • How can I make Terminal run Java 7 downloaded from the Oracle Website?

    I've downloaded Java 7 from the Oracle website, and I want the Terminal application to run that Java 7 download. I try to run Java programs that require Java 7, but it runs with the Apple Internal Java 6 release. How can I make it so my MacBook Pro runs the download of Java that I downloaded? I know this sounds stupid, but am I routing my machine to run the internal Java 6 version? I have seen many videos in which people with the same software version as me run Java like this with no problem. Could you please let me know why this is happening and how I can fix it? I really want to be able to use the Java 7, particularly because I'm always getting this "Unsupported Major Minor Version 51.0" from many applications that are Terminal based.
    Thanks!

    I think I've answered your question. The Oracle JRE is a web plugin. The JDK is a development kit for applications with embedded Java. Neither one replaces the Apple-distributed Java frameworks for running standalone applications without embedded Java. Any other questions you have should be answered by the Oracle documentation.

  • Can you update 4.1 to 5.x from the IPSMC?

    I am running IPSMC 2.1 with Sp1-6, I am trying to upgrade 4.1 sensors from the IPS mc and they fail. I am upgrading by going to <configuration->updates->choose->IPS-K9-maj-5.0-1-S149.zip>
    It fails each time with the following error:An error occurred while running the update script on the sensor named BORV. Detail = An error occurred at the sensor during the update, sensor message = Connection failed
    If I ssh to the sensor and run the upgrade command it works just fine. Any ideas? I have 20 sensors to upgrade and do not want to do it manually.
    Thanks in advance
    M

    Can you ssh to the sensor from the MC box? If so, I'd suggest testing the MC-Sensor synchronization before attempting the 4.1(5) upgrade. You can try querying each sensor and pushing a trivial updated config (i.e. change alarm severety of one sig). If you're able to do this, you should be able to apply the 4.1(5) upgrade via MC.

  • How to call a "iView" in Portal Service

    Hi,
    I want to call a "iView" from portal service.
    Can somebody suggest me how to call? I am not aware of the method for doing so.
    Any sample code will be helpful.
    Thanks in advance.
    Manish

    Hello Manish,
    as far as I know, it's not possible to call an iView from a portal service. The intention of a portal service is to provide general functionality that may be used by several iViews. So, you can call a service from an iView, but not the other way round.
    Have a look at the documentation, I hope this clarifies things a little bit: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005vp/helpdata/en/df/e6b74253ffda11e10000000a155106/frameset.htm

  • How to call a  portal service from a servlet

    Hello all.
    I have a functioning portal service that I would like to call from a servlet.
    When I try to do so, I get a ClassCastException when I do this (on line two):
    IPortalRuntimeResources runtimeResources = PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources();
    IDocumentPersistence docPer = (IDocumentPersistence) runtimeResources.getService(IDocumentPersistence.KEY);
    However if I do the following I can get a generic IService and use reflection to invoke the method (in the IDocumentPersistence interface) that I want to invoke:
    IPortalRuntimeResources runtimeResources = PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources();
    com.sapportals.portal.prt.service.IService aService = (com.sapportals.portal.prt.service.IService) runtimeResources.getService(IDocumentPersistence.KEY);
    There must be a better way to use portal services (hopefully like scenario one above) in servlets. In web dynpro you can use portal services and cast them to the correct type. What am I missing?

    Hi Kim,
    how did you integrate the references to your Portal Service Interface into your web application?
    You should do this using the references in your application-j2ee-engine.xml, did you do this? It might be a problem with the classloader otherwise.
    The way you are calling portal services does work normally, however it is not the recommended way as it is documented in the SAP documentation.
    Please check the SAP documentation on how to access a portal service from a j2ee app:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/42/9ddd0cbb211d72e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm

  • Calling a Portal Service from within a Web Dynpro DC

    Hello,
    I am trying to call a Portal Service from within a Web Dynpro development component without sucess.
    Can anyone give me some hints on the necessary steps in order to accomplish this task?
    Thanks
    Diz

    Hi Diz,
    I tried doing the same thing by following the steps as mentioned by you. Just to re iterate,
    1. Created a DC "Portal Application Standalone" project by the name myservice.
    2. Created a portal service inside myservice by the ame AmitsService.
    3. Exposed IAmitsService.class in the public part.
    4 Build and deployed the DC on server and tested it through an abstract portal component and it worked FINE !!
    Now..
    5. Created anoter DC of type WebDynPro
    6. Added SAP_JTECHS -> epbc.prtapi._api as a "Used DC" with dependency build time and runtime
    7. Specified the sharing reference in the properties as PORTAL:sap.com/myservice
    8. Tried to reference the service using the following code..
    IAmitsService portalservice=(IAmitsService)WDPortalUtils.getServiceReference(IAmitsService.KEY);
    9.Build and deployed the DC.
    10. When I run the application I am getting the following error
    Processing HTTP request to servlet [dispatcher] finished with error.
    The error is: com.sap.engine.frame.core.load.SAPNoClassDefFoundError: com/sapportals/portal/prt/service/IService

  • Calling a java web service from R/3 6.0

    hi experts,
    can anyone please tell me how to call a java web service from R/3 6.0?
    i found some answers to this question but all those were for 6.4 or 6.2 but not for 6.0.
    i want to generate a outbound flow from ERP system. so please tell me something about web service in that context.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sagar.

    Hi!!!
    I would do this scenario as a synchronous one:
    [SAP R/3][ABAP proxy objects] <-> [XI]<->[SOAP Adapter]<--->[external java app]
    In your ABAP transaction you will have to execute ABAP proxy method to send a message to XI. If it's not your transaction, you can use user-exit.
    BTW, I have an experience with XI 2.0, not with 3.0, so I used a XI 2.0 terminology.

  • Calling normal java web service from bpel

    hi,
    i want to call a normal java web service (which has been deployed in an application server) and not a bpel process from my .bpel file.
    i see that while creating a partner link , i have to specify the wsdl file location.
    there are two options.
    from local bpel server and
    from local file system.
    since the web service is not a bpel prcess, it can not be deployed in the bpel process manager and i have to choose the wsdl file location from local file system.
    now there are some major differences in the two type of wsdl file, i.e., that of a java web service and a bpel process.
    let me give u all a concrete example.
    let i have a hello world web service which takes a name as input , concatenates the name with "hello" and outputs.
    i created a partner link to this web service.
    after creating the partner link, a local copy of the wsdl file is added into my bpel project which only contains definition import and partnerlink statements.
    but i can not progress any further.
    can any one help me out of this problem.
    also i will be helpful if any one can suggest a tutorial where bpel is used to orchestarate between normal java web services deployed in some other application server and not mere bpel processes.
    thanks & regards.
    sudipto

    Hi Sudipto,
    Just to add to the options. There are three options.
    1 and 2 as mentioned by you.
    3 you can give the hosted wsdl location directly in the text box. (i.e. somthing like http://ws.strikeiron.com/CensusData?WSDL)
    This in turn will create a local wsdl which has partnerLink info and an import of the original wsdl.
    once you have this select the appropreate Partner Link Type and Partner Role.

  • Accessing custom Portal service from a java application

    We have a custom portal service that connects to BW using xmla. How do you access this portal service from a java application. Not from web dynpro, jsp or servlet but from the java code.
    Can we use the INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY to get access to the portal service.
    Thank You
    D.K

    Now I tried the following:
    I've added the prtapi.jar and the service's jar to the additional-lib folder and added the appropriate entries to library.txt and reference.txt.
    Now I can obtain now the PortalRuntime, but this is not initialized.
    Has anybody a solution for this problem? Help would be high appreciated!

  • (261705413) Q RPCC-21 Can you compare a performance of "usual" RPC from EJB and RPC from Web Services?

    Q<RPCC-21> Can you compare a performance of "usual" RPC from EJB and RPC from Web
    Services?
    A<RPCC-21> There are additional performance overheads for invoking a web service
    when compared to straight EJB invocation. However, you should not think of web
    services as a way to replace your EJBs instead you should be willing to accept
    some performance decline for the massive gains in platform interoperability and
    the ability to exposure your services outside of you firewall.
    Additionally, performance decreases will be dependent on several factors. The
    most significant of which is the XML-Java and Java-XML translation of the SOAP
    message. This can be very fast if the XML structure is simple but if you web services
    requires a parameter that has a complex XML format you may see a more significant
    slow down.
    Adam

    Sorry if this sounds like I am new to this but I am.
    So, the extended version is the format that would be used if you were not utilizing the files that the wsdl2java function creates?
    And this is done to when you want more flexibiility for the user to call your service?
    So, you would push to have the stub files used when you want to control how the web service is used?
    thanks for the feedback.

    You can achieve this using LiveCycle PDF Generator JAVA API. You can find required code here:
    Adobe LiveCycle * Quick Start (SOAP mode): Converting a Microsoft Word document to a PDF document using the Java API
    In parameters:
    //Set createPDF2 parameter values
    String adobePDFSettings = "Standard";
    String securitySettings = "No Security";
    String fileTypeSettings = "Standard OCR";
    "Standard OCR" file type setting will run OCR on input pdf. In the code, instead of doc file provide a pdf file. Resultant pdf will be searchable PDF i.e OCRed PDF.
    Feel feel to ask any further questions.
