Can you Ignore Embedded Digital File Info?

Hello!
I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to have Photoshop ignore the embedded informationspecifically in-camera rotation datawhen it opens digital camera files. The difficulty I'm having is that I have an action script that opens files up and then saves them off for use with another application. Since Photoshop is recognizing the embedded rotation information, it will take a horizontal file, see that in camera it is indicated that it should be a vertical file and it'll open it in that orientation (vertical). When Photoshop saves the file, it has effectively rotated the file.
The other application that I am using does NOT recognize this embedded information and, therefore, has a conflict with the saved off Photoshop files. This results in the application squishing the now vertical files into a horizontal space.
The set of files I discovered this with were Cannon files, and Cannon says there's no way to strip the file of the info after the shot is taken (you can turn it off in camera), so I'm left trying to see if PS can ignore the data. I assume the same thing is happening with other digital cameras as well as I've seen this a good bit with files from a variety of people.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could you check if this works for you?
// opens the fileinfo dialog when an image is either copyrighted or other info fields have content;
// use it at your own risk;
#target photoshop;
if (app.documents.length != 0) {
var theCheck = false;
var theProperties = [app.activeDocument.info.author, app.activeDocument.info.authorPosition, app.activeDocument.info.caption,
app.activeDocument.info.captionWriter, app.activeDocument.info.category, app.activeDocument.info.city,

app.activeDocument.info.supplementalCategories, app.activeDocument.info.title, app.activeDocument.info.transmissionReference];
for (var m = 0; m < theProperties.length; m++) {
var thisProp = theProperties[m];
if (thisProp.length > 0) {
theCheck = true;
if (app.activeDocument.info.copyrighted == CopyrightedType.COPYRIGHTEDWORK) {theCheck = true};
if (theCheck == true) {

    Can you have a DIAdem file embedded in a web app and then when you click the link to the DIAdem file it invokes DIAdem?

    Hello JCN,
    I will keep in touch with the current Applications Engineer who will be assisting you with this issue and update the forum with the status of the problem. I personally think that your best option would be to create a link that opens DIAdem and then runs a script to load the data from a predetermined file (Rather than a link to the file itself).

  • How can you tell if a file is being used in your project or not?

    How can you tell if a file in your bin is being used in your project or not? My director dragged hundreds of reference files into my project and only used a few of them. I'd like to do some house cleaning and delete the ones that are not in use. This project file has 100 sequences in it, so it would be a tough manual hunt to figure this out.
    In Premiere Pro (or Flash for example), where all the information is in the Project Bin such as in/out times and duration, there is where it tells you how many times that piece of media has been used or if it hasn't been used yet.
    Can FCP tell me this info?
    Thanks for yout time!
    -Monty

    Monty,
    Within FCP, there is a menu item called "Media Manager" (depending on what version you are in). This would be worth your while to look into. It basically organizes your project by moving/archiving any used assets of a project and leaving out un-used assets. It saves a ton of disk space.
    For example, say you have a 5 minute clip with an in/out point that is just 30 seconds. Media Manager will "archive" just that 30 seconds, not the entire clip. There is even a setting that you can add additional "handles" time to the front andd back of the clip if you think you may need to add or change transition.
    Do a google search. I was just watching a few Youtube videos on this myself.

    hi there
    open the "Graphics & Sound" palette from the functions menu to use vis for reading/Writing wavefiles, search the examples shipped with LV for first steps. use the VIs in the "Analyze" functions palette to modify the data.

  • How long can you share a folio file for and how many people simultaneously

    Hi There,
    Questions per above title, can you share a folio file via the content viewer for an unlimited time?  How many people could you share it with simultaneously?
    As well I am trying to understand do you have to pay for DPS (and if so can it just be the single version) to be able to share a .folio file through the content viewer.  Can you just have in design 5.5+.
    In addition, if the .folio file is set up for Ipad distribution when shared will it be formatted and fully usable/interactive through the content viewer by the person you are showing it to on the ipad?
    Any help is appreciated.

    You do not need to pay to share a folio file via the content viewer.
    I'm not aware of any limits on how long a folio can be shared to, or how many e-mails a folio can be shared to.
    And yes, on the interactivity question.

  • Can you export a raw file photo with Lightroom adjustments attached?

    Can you export a raw file photo from Lightroom with Lightroom adjustments attached in some way?  If not what is the equivalent?  There are some individuals I would like to send the full data of the raw file, but with the non-destructive Lightroom adjustments layered on top.
    --Gerry

    You can select "Original" as the file type, in Export. This saves out a copy of the imported source file into the selected location, labelling the current adjustments onto that image. When this is sent to somebody and imported to LR / opened in ACR, these metadata will be found and used automatically, with the exact same outcome as within your own LR Catalog - provided the LR / ACR versions are sufficiently compatible, and provided camera and lens profiles applied to the image, are present in both contexts.
    LR uses whatever method is normal when writing metadata, for each file type involved. So, if one imported file is a proprietary Raw file, LR will write an XMP file alongside. If another is capable of having metadata written into its file header, LR will do that instead.
    One important difference between doing this, vs writing LR metadata out to your original imported file, and sending that: the Export Original method will work in the same way, just as successfully, for one or more Virtual Copy versions (duplicating physically as needed), as it will for the primary Master version - relating to a given imported file.

  • Can you create a .ics file from entries in a PDF?

    Hi,
    I'm wondering if anyone can help me: Can you create a .ics file from entries in PDF?
    Example:
    I'm wanting people to be able to choose a number of dates for some events within a PDF, then click a button that will then create a (or number of) .ics files so they can add those dates to the calendar of their choice. Is this possible?
    Thanks

    Using the solution supplied by Leonia, and cited by Keith, you can do the same thing (flopping the Curve profiles) in LightRoom. So, it makes sense. Though I didn't know know it worked for Color Negatives.
    A friend of mine with a Nikon Coolscan is going to scan nearly 150 B&W rolls of 35mm negatives for me, and I want to import them all into Aperture, naming and keywording as I go. The objective is, of course, to have the convenience of a diigtal library. But also to have some made into large prints for framing.

  • Can you save an mp3 file that you receive as an attachment to an email?

    Can you save an mp3 file you receive as an attachment to an email?

    Irwinwilliam-
    With other attachments, you can press and hold on the attachment icon.  One of the options that may appear is "Open In".  Choosing that, any App that is capable of reading the attachment should show up as a choice.  When opening the document that way, a copy is transferred to the App.  I have not tried with an MP3 file.
    For MP3, I think the Music App should be a choice.  If so, the file should then appear with your other music.
    If an inappropriate App appears in "Open In", you may be able to use it as a conduit to transfer the attachment to your computer.  Run iTunes on your computer with the iPad connected.  Select the iPad under DEVICES, and click on Apps at the top of the window.  Scroll down to File Sharing and select that App.  If successful, your document will appear to the right in the Documents window, where you can select it and Save As.
