Can you rebuild SSA without losing any settings?

Due to a long story (below) I'm at the point where I probably have to rebuilt my Search Service Application. However, I don't want to lose all the search settings.
I found this
https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/office/5ce9297e-90e6-4439-a584-04182b12dd43  which says it will allow me to export Content Sources, Query Rules, Crawl Rules, and File Extension Settings. That does not seem to be all the settings I want though,
I have a lot of Managed Properties. I have not found anything else yet that lets me export search settings.
My questions are:
1. is there a way to save all the settings, then create a new SSA, then re-apply the settings, so I don't lose Query Rules, Managed Properties, etc? Is there another (Free) tool out there that will let me export all settings? Or are managed properties in
some completely different location than those 4 search databases.
2. is there way to not lose the "training" that search has done to remember what people have searched on and how they use search? (such as when it shows the user things they did recently, or the auto-fill in search boxes that fills in with likely
searches they might want)
==============
The problems we are having:
Due to trying to migrate to new servers, use of stsadm -o renameserver, (which worked perfectly in our Test environment but did not work so perfectly in production) I cannot get my search service working or update my topology (several topology items are
in warning or error state. (Before I started all servers were in "No action required" state on "manage servers on this farm" page in CA)
QueryProcessing and Analytics Components stuck in Degraded, non-active, "resolving" state
Indexing components stuck in "replicating" state, even though there are no items in the index.
I have tried everything I could find online (such as mentioned here
https://www.kieferconsulting.com/blog/Pages/SP2013-Fixing-Search-After-The-Index-Drive-Fills.aspx  ) including restarting the services, trying to reset index, stopping timer and search host services and then manually deleting index files (then running
$ssa.Reset($true,$true) ). I have tried to set a new topology that does not contain the broken ones, but I can't I keep getting that I have to finish an upgrade on another server (and I can't set the topology on that server either). I can't even pause via
$ssa.Pause() it just times out. $ssa.Reset() times out. And the logs just say it's waiting for an update, that is the only issue.
I tried psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b but that would die saying it was still waiting for an upgrade.
So then I ran this:
stsadm -o setproperty -propertyname command-line-upgrade-running -propertyvalue No
psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -wait -force

Hello Christopher,
Thank you for your question.
We are currently looking into this issue and will give you an update as soon as possible.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Best regards,
Victoria

    Go to http://appleid.apple.com.
To clarify, the mere act of changing the Apple ID on the device will not remove any content. But you cannot update the apps or re-sync them if they get deleted without the old Apple ID. It may be best to download them again with the new ID.

  • If your Iphone 2 is disabled, how can you restore it without losing the contents? We know the right passcode.

We are trying to restore a disabled Iphone 3. It does not have active phone service, but is used for apps. We know the correct passcode but my son entered it wrong too many times and it disabled. The phone says to connect to ITunes but that is not working because of the passcode. Does anyone know how to restore the phone without losing the contents?

You will have to restore, losing anything not saved to your computer.

  • I have a library on my Ipod Classic and a different one on iTunes.  How can I sync both without losing any files?

I think I may have deleted the original library a while back.  Since then, I have been collecting new files.  Now that I sat down to sync, I am unable to load new files at all.  Is there maybe a way to upload library on ipod into itunes library and then reload all back onto ipod?
I don't want to lose any of it! Help!

You'll want to extract all the content that is currently on the iPod and copy it back over into your new iTunes library.  Once you have successfully done that, you can go ahead and restore your iPod to factory settings and then sync away as restoring the iPod will allow it to sync with the new iTunes library.

This was through some discussions via OSS.  I've always preferred to keep them myself, but there are always exceptions.  The client decided to ask SAP direct and the final recommendation was not to delete the ID's but just expire them.

  • Hard drive crashed and had over 800 songs on my iPod.  Can I transfer all my songs from my iPod to my new computer so I can download new songs without losing any of my songs?

My old desktop crashed and I had over 800+ songs on my old computer.  I have a new laptop but want to transfer ALL songs to my new computer not just those purchased on iTunes.  I want to save all 800+ songs and then begin to download new songs to my iPod.  Any suggestions?

  • How to Move Easily move photos without losing any changes

    Hi,
I've built up a large number of photos in Lightroom which include cropping information, WB and color adjustments, ratings, etc. I currently have the photos stored in individual folders underneath C:\Users\profile\Desktop\Photos, and would now like to relocate ALL photos to the default path for Vista "C:\Users\profile\Pictures."
How can I do this without losing any of my edits, ratings, etc.? Will I be able to move all of the folders at once, or will I need to handle them folder by folder?
Thank You for any help ca ncan give newbie!

    Bradley,
Leaving the catalog on the laptop and keeping your originals on an external drive is definitely the way to setup LR. I would go even one further, and use a small USB drive for the catalog, and a different SET of drives for your originals.
The lrcat file in itself is relatively small, but the preview folder can be really huge, taking up a huge amount of space on your drive (many gigabytes).
By keeping your catalog on a removable drive, it makes it very easy to use the catalog on more than one system by just plugging in the drive, and maybe 'finding' the folders again if necessary.

  • How can you shrink the size of an upright picture to make it smaller without losing any of the detail in it??? At the moment, if I view them on my laptop, landscape photos fill the screen, but portrait photos only show the middle part.

How can you shrink the size of an upright picture to make it smaller without losing any of the detail in it (in Slideshow)??? At the moment, if I view them on my Mac Laptop, landscape photos fill the screen, but portrait photos only show the middle part, so I loose the top and bottom of the picture.  Have tried cropping, but that means I lose top and bottom part of the picture, so that is not the answer!!

Homestly haven't a clue what's going on there.
Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • I duplicated a picture and now iPhoto (11) is cloning that picture replacing all the other photos and only when I click directly on them I can see the real picture! How can I solve the problem without losing any saved picture? Shall I re-install? Thanx

I duplicated a picture selecting CMD and D but, suddenly, iPhoto (latest version '11) started cloning that picture and replacing all the other photos with it.
Only when I click directly on one photo I can open it and see the real picture it is.
But the preview is always the duplicated one...
I tryed to duplicate another picture just to see if it turned out ok but the only changement was the duplicated picture!
I started repeating the second duplicated one instead of the previous one but my issue remained the same.
So, how can you help me to solve this problem without losing any saved picture?
    Shall I re-install iPhoto completely?
Thank you very very much in advance!!

As Larry says, restoring the back up is the fastest and best solution. Otherwise:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
    Regards
    TD

  • Can I use a Verizon 3rd Gen iPad on WiFi without activating service without losing any functions?

Can I use a Verizon iPad on WiFi without activating service without losing any functions?

Yes, the cellular iPads function the same as the regular ones except that they have the cellular antenna. Just be sure to turn off cellular in your settings, right below WiFi and Bluetooth so you don't get charged if it is accidentally used, meaning you won't have WiFi everywhere anymore, unless you want to pay for a monthly plan again
