UCS firmware version question

Hello guys!
I've seen from Cisco download for UCS B series firmware versions, there are 2 latest versions which 2.2.(1d) and 2.1.(3c), what are the different between these 2 versions? My current firmware is 2.1.(1b), should I update to 2.1(3c) or 2.2.(1d)? Thanks.

Hello,
The difference is that they belong to different chains (one is 2.1 and the other 2.2) where we made some improvements in the firmware.  UCS, unlike other Cisco devices, do not follow an specific order in the firmware versions released; so you may see, at anytime, how a 2.1x version may be newer than a 2.2x version; precisely cause that 2.1x will be the newest one for the 2.1 chain while the 2.2x will be the newest one for the 2.2 chain but release on a different day.
The other difference is the bugs we fixed on each release, which might not be included in the other one.
The UCS behavior can also change from version to version, and here is an example:          https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11673921/default-zoning-users-heads-ucsm-21
If you want to see how one version differs from the other, what you can do is to check the release notes for each one:

  • UCS Firmware Question

    Hi:
Just want a definitive answer to the following question:
    1. If my FInterconnect and IOM are having a "lower' firmware version than my UCS Blades (CIMC, BIOS & Adapter) assuning they are all at 1.4(3#) level, will the FI "upgrade" the firmwares on UCS Blade automatically?
    2. If my FInterconnect and IOM are having a "higher' firmware version than my UCS Blades (CIMC, BIOS & Adapter) assuning they are all at 1.4(3#) level, will the FI "downgrade" the firmwares on UCS Blade automatically?
I remember someone from Cisco told me before that the downgrade or upgrade will happen automatically or I am wrong.
    Thanks.

  • Change Boot Policy and Firmware Version for Service Profile using UCS PowerTool

I'm looking for the PowerTool syntax to modify both of these values on individual service profiles. The documentation behind most of these cmdlests is almosts non-existent.
I believe the boot policy may be able to be changed like this:
    Set-UcsServiceProfile -BootPolicyName
As for the host firmware version under the policies tab of the SP... I have no idea what that cmdlet would be.
    See attached images for examples.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hello,
One version of the User guide for UCS powertool can be found here:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/sw/msft_tools/powertools/ucs_powertool_book/ucs_pwrtool_bkl1.html
That guide makes notes of the following commands in regards to HFPs:
    Host Firmware Package
Create a Host Firmware package and set IgnoreCompCheck to No.
    $host_firm_pack = Add-UcsFirmwareComputeHostPack -Name host_firm_pack -IgnoreCompCheck no
Add a Host Firmware pack item.
$host_firm_pack | Add-UcsFirmwarePackItem -Type adaptor -HwModel N20-AC0002 -HwVendor "Cisco Systems Inc"
    -Version '1.4(1i)'
Set version of Host Firmware pack item.
    $host_firm_pack | Get-UcsFirmwarePackItem -HwModel N20-AC0002 | Set-UcsFirmwarePackItem -Version '2.0(1t)'
    Remove Host Firmware package.
    $host_firm_pack | Remove-UcsFirmwareComputeHostPack
I would also like to recommend the Cisco Developed integrations section which may be more specific to the powertool:

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus Firmware version not current on the HP Downloads Page

My HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus came with Firmware version CKP5CN1334ER which the printer update says is up-to-date. The HP downloads page shows CLP1CN1322CR as the current version. Can you tell me what the differences are in version 1334 from the one (1322) on the web page?
It would be nice to have the latest version posted for download to prevent confusion.

    Same question here.

  • What is the current AE firmware version for MacBook Pro 2Ghz Core Duo?

My losing connection every so often MPB shows:
Wireless Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0x168C, 0x86)
    Wireless Card Locale: USA
    Wireless Card Firmware Version: 0.1.27

Good question. They basically said I needed to send it in for repair. Afterward I brought up the version and was told it would be up to date if Software Update was completed. I mentioned the difference between the version on my iMac and the MPB and was told that perhaps the MPB AE is defective and not updating. I am just curious to know what others have.

  • Firmware Version?

This may be a very basic question...how do I find out what my firmware version my Airport Express currently has? I just bought my Express yesterday, and have it up and running (with a Linksys WRT54G wireless router); and have read on this forum about problems with older firmware versions (6.1.1) and want to make sure I have V6.3 on mine. Thanks in advance.

I'm not 100% sure, but most likely, upgrading/downgrading firmware will potentially erase your current settings.
Sounds like you set up the AX in client mode since you're using an existing wireless router in your network. If so, the following link provides the steps to get it back up and running. (ref: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302153)

  • Firmware Version 3.1 or higher

I have an iPOD 10GB (older model, M8976LL)...I recently purchased a Belkin TuneBase FM so I can play my iPOD in my car...The minimum Firmware version required is 3.1...my iPOD has a 2.3 Firmware version....A few questions...1) is an firmware upgrade available for my older iPOD...2) if so, how do I find it to download it...I've been all over the Apple site and can't fine any reference to upgraded firmware...PLS HELP ...and THANKS

BTW, all iPod software versions beginning with 3.xx are only compatible with the iPod with click wheel. If your software version begins with 2.xx you have an iPod with dock connector, which might be incompatible with the accessory which you just purchased... make sure you hang onto that receipt!

Hi, AlexK. I just found the answer for your question in F5/F55 user manual(v.6), on p. 46.In a word, you can't use your double speed viewfinder function.Refer to the last sentence.  Viewfinder Double Speed function is not effective on the following settings.- When System Frequency is 59.94/50.- When Recording format is SStP Sr-SQ 444 / SStP SR-SQ Lite 422 / SStP SR-SQ 422, ProRes 422, DNxHD 220x / DNxHD 145.- When "Setting" in "Slow Shutter" of the Camera menu is set to "On."- When "Setting" in "S&Q Motion" of the Camera menu is set to "On," and the "Frame Rate" setting is 1 to 60P. At this moment, it's not available to everyone.Hope Sony make it available with future firmware update, if technically possible. Bryan

  • How to determine GPIB-ENET firmware version?

I have several of the older GPIB-ENET units. I see the latest firmware binary on the FTP site is A5. I'm pretty sure our units have olders revs since they were installed several years ago. However the manual says to only update the firmware when necessary since there are a limited number of times the firmware can be updated.
My question: Is there a way to determine the device firmware version so I'm positive I need to update?
I notice the new EthernetConfig utility for GPIB-ENET/100 devices shows the firmware revision when you select the device. Can this utility also "see" older GPIB-ENET devices and show the firmware revision for these older devices as well?

  • How do I find out the firmware version of my WD Black2?

Dumb question, maybe. How can I find out what firmware version I'm currently on? Need to know this to figure out if I need to update. Thanks

Oops, my mistake, that's the device driver in the OS. I should never post before my second cup of tea. Download and install WDC Lifeguard. Start it, right-mouse click on the drive in question, select Properties, and the firmware version will magically appear. http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?level1=6&lang=en

  • Firmware Version of iPhone sold by apple

    Hi all,
I'm from Brazil and I'd like to buy an iPhone, but, I have few questions to do:
    1) I'd like to know what's the version of firmware if I buy an iPhone from Apple.
    2) Buying from Apple, can I buy only the phone without AT&T contract or MUST I make the contract with AT&T?
    Thanks,
    Sérgio

Since the iPhone is not officially available in Brazil, you would need to activate it with the carrier in the country of origin. If it's a US iPhone, you would need to activate with ATT.
Most likely the firmware version would be the current version.

Nokia changed this because of an EU directive on the output volume of music devices. They will not change it back.

  • Is every ios release overtakes the previous firmware version ?

Well I dont Know from where to start ....
I am using an Iphone 5 the problem is I am stuck in the recovery mode due to error 1 which is obviosly a hardware issue and most likely to be a baseband problem but here it is why am I asking this question because I was running ios 7.0.6 and suddenly the iphone became in ''Searching..." mode so tried the factory settings by erasing all data and settings but couldn't help so I went DFU mode and restored my iphone using 7.1 IPSW and Wizardry the iphone worked for just one day then the same problem ''Searching..'' .
So I went DFU mode again but this time I let itunes to update to the latest firmware version which is IOS 7.1.1 and then amazingly the phone worked for few hours but then again same problem '' Searching..." and BTW EVERY THING WORKING FINE EVEN WIFI EXCEPT THAT NO CALLS,TEXTS OR CELLULAR DATA AND THERE IS NO IMEI OR FIRMWARE.
So I went DFU for the third time but I got the error 1 alert message and Now I am stuck in Recovery mode.So .. Is that means that every IOS release over takes the previous firmware ... which means if I waited for the next IOS 7.1.2 or IOS 8 hopefully I will be able to get out from the recovery mode and run away from the error 1 alert monster ? ... and I know the problem searching might occur again but I think I might give up then for this handset then. But I want to try all the solutions and options I have in my hands since I got no AppleCare/Store in my Country

It is true that updates may potentially bring changes to some firmware as well as software, but not every thing changes in each update.  If your hardware is failing compatibility with the current firmware, I would bet money that you are going to have issues with future versions as well.  The iOS assumes that your hardware is in working order when it was designed and a failure in that hardware results in these errors and the inability to operate using the firmware.  To assume that a different firmware (especially a future firmware update) will fix you issue is close to absurd, unless that firmware version made all iPhones (or even most) have hardware communication issues.  Until that day, Apple is not going to alter the firmware.  Also you stated that it worked then stopped multiple times and now you receive error 1, which during the update basically means the iPhone is not passing the hardware test, so even with a future update, the hardware is not going to pass the diagnostic test when installing firmware, therefore you will still need service.
Even if you have to send it off to a friend in the country of purchase, it's going to be better and faster than waiting on something that has a 1% chance of success.
