Can you scroll multiple text fields with 1 UIscrollbar component?
I have been poking around on the internet trying to find out a way to do this on flash using AS2.0 but have had no luck. Is it even possible?!
or is there another way of achieving a similar affect?
I have XML data being pulled from an array of attributes that get listed in there own text field or column basically.
Attribute1(text1)
Attribute2(text2)
Attribute3(text3)
item1
item2
item3
item4
location1
location2
location3
location4
date1
date2
date3
date4
Above is how the data gets displayed in the 3 different text boxes... each item is associated to a location and a date and i need to be able to scroll down through the items but have the locations and dates stay inline with the specific item.
Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks in advance.
i don't have a clue about the XML (I'm still in embryo stage on that one at one-half a tutorial) BUT,
to connect without commas, you can do something like this. My array name was aHiragana (japanese letters)
var sHiragana:String = aHiragana.join(""); //kills the comma
words.text = sHiragana.toString(); //works, note "s" not "a" infront of Hiragana.
no idea if this is compatible with XML.

Can you calculate multiple text boxes to achieve a total value? If so how is that done? I am trying to create a order form where multiple items can be purchased but i would like the values of each item to calculate so I can achieve a total value.

Can you use a text field for email sender with E-mail button
basically i would like to use input information from the user when someone sends an email instead of the default which is to look for a third party e-mail program like outlook. I want to bypass that and possibly use a text field that has the user input their email. some people don't use outlook so it would be nice to bypass that somehow. Is there a way to send email without the whole outlook thing, like not needing a "sender" and instead require them to input email address. I just want to receive the pdf. I am using LIVECYCLE by the way.

Can you highlight a text field box?
Looking to add a light highlighted color to the text field input box?
Sorry you can't remove the label of a field. When the Label is on the Left (either left aligned or right aligned) then you can resize the label (using drag and drop) but there is still a min width that the label must have. You can also change the Label to be Above but that might not work with your spacing either.

How can you use multiple stream types with one socket?
Hi,
I'm working on a large program that currently uses Object Input/Output streams for all of the messaging in a client/server application. This works fine except when files need to be transferred. In many cases using a Object stream to send a file can be 30 times slower than using a Buffered input/output stream. I've found I can combined the two. Here are some code snippets to give you a basic idea of what's happening...
BufferedInputStream bis = new BufferedInputStream( serverSocket.getInputStream( ) );
ObjectInputStream ois = new ObjectInputStream( serverSocket.getInputStream( ) );
//this code runs on a thread on the server
while( true ){
switch( whichKindOfStreamUsedNext ){
case OBJECT_STREAM:
Object object = ois.readObject( );
doSomethingWithObject( object );
break;
case BUFFERED_STREAM:
readFromBuffer( bis );
break;
Obviously there is a lot missing here. Basically the variable whichKindOfStreamUsedNext is changed in the methods doSomethingWithObject( ) and readFromBuffer depending on what the current state of the server is and what is passed to these methods from the client.
Here is the problem. If readFromBuffer( ) does a very small task and the client sends an object through an object stream everything is okay. I've switched whichKindOfStreamUsedNext = OBJECT_STREAM before that point and by the time the client sends the object the server is waiting on Object object = ois.readObject( );. However if the method readFromBuffer( ) does a very time intensive task and it takes a while to return and meanwhile the client sends an object then the server never gets that object. Does anyone have an easy solution to this problem. (Changing the whole program to just using BufferedStreams is not a solution).
Thanks.Thanks a lot for the response.
I guess I didn't realize I could do that.
I changed how I am doing the program anyways. Sending flags to switch streams was a little messy. but now I have a new problem. I've discovered that mixing object streams with buffered streams also leads to significant speed increases. I do that in this manner...
int ONE_MEG = 1024*1024;
ObjectInputStream ois = new ObjectInputStream( new BufferedInputStream( socket.getInputStream( ), ONE_MEG ) );
and I do the same thing for the ObjectOutputStream. It works very well when I just set up the client's output stream and the servers input stream in this manner. Upload times are increased from 60 seconds to 2-5 seconds.
Unfortunately when I try to do the same thing with the servers output stream and the clients input stream to speed up downloads I get deadlock! As soon as the socket connection is opened and I try to set up the streams in this manner I get deadlock. Does anyone have any idea why this occurs and what I can do to fix it? -
How to create Using Formatted Text Field with multiple Sliders?
Hi i found the Java Sun tutorial at http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/slider.html very useful, and it tells how to create one Formatted Text Field with a Slider - however i need to create Formatted Text Field for multiple Sliders in one GUI, how do i do this?

...if :p3_note_id is null
then
insert into notes (project_id, note, notes_month, notes_year) So, p3_note_id is NULL.
Another option is that you have a trigger on table NOTES that generates a new note_id even for an update. -
Can I populate a text field in one PDF with the modification date of a different file ?
Rather convoluted problem here but I'm trying to place a text field on a PDF document that serves as the main menu page for a library of interlinked PDF documents
The complete library contains over 7,000 files and additions are added and documents changed almost daily.
We currently use batch files to open the main menu from it's shortcut and this runs a check on a sync log file (.txt) to ascertain when the last time the user synchronised with the server to get the latest copy of the files.
Between a certain time range they are told how long it has been since they sync'ed and are offered the option to sync before opening, after a prescribed timeframe they cannot enter without synchronising. We use Allways Sync to conduct the file synchronisation with our mother files on our server.
What I'd like to do is take advantage of Allways Syncs automatic synchronisation options to synchronise on log on and at prescribed idle periods there after.
This works fine but I'd like the text field on the main menu PDF to say when the last synchronisation took place - easy if the main menu is the last file modified .. just use info.modDate.
However, the main menu is rarely modified therefore I wish to import the text to populate the text field from a different file.. either by interrogating the other files modifictaion data (though I doubt Acrobat can do this) or by simply importing some text stored in another file (a .txt file?) which has previously been created by batch file commands.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I'm using Acrobat 8.3.1. Professional on Windows XP (SP3).Thank you for all your help above.
Just to confirm your advice, am I right with the following conclusions? :
1. The script (function) to fill the text field with the modification date of a different PDF file needs to be stored in a folder level .js file.
2. The document containing the text field needs to call the .js function either within the document script or within the custom script property of the text field itself.
Further to that can you just advise on the syntax for accessing the modification date of the other document.
Do I need to assign a variable to the address of the file to be used, and then use this variable in the text form filling script (as below) or can I use a direct file reference at the .modDate command.
var LastSync = "C:\sync\bin\lastsync.pdf";
var strMsg = util.printd("h:MM tt",LastSync.modDate) + " on ";
strMsg += util.printd("dddd, d mmmm, yyyy",LastSync.modDate);
this.getField("LastSyncDate").value = strMsg;
If the syntax is totally different to the above I would be very grateful for some guidance in the right direction.
I much appreciate your time to help me ... I'm almost there.
Kind Regards,

Can you copy multiple audio (text to speech) files from one slide onto a new slide at once? OR do you have to copy and paste each line of text to speech and insert into new slide?
Hi there
I believe that you end up with a single file that you can use. Once you get that created, it's an audio file in the library. You may then add the audio file to another slide or object by looking in the Library after choosing to add audio.

Is there a way that you can have two different text fields (email, phone) that one at least one of them must be completed before submitting the form? Can it be done using javascript in the validation tab? if so, how?
Here is one solution:
// mouse up action for submit button;
function GetField(cName) {
// get field object for cName field with error checking;
var oField = this.getField(cName);
if(oField == null) app.alert("Error accessing field named " + cName + "\nPleae verigy field name, spelling and capitalizeation.", 1, 0);
return oField;
} // end GetField function;
var oPhone = GetField("phone");
oPhone.required = oPhone.value == oPhone.defaultValue;
var oEmail = GetField("email");
oEmail.required = oEmail.value == oEmail.defaultValue;
if(oPhone.required && oEmail.required) {
app.alert("Missing required fields.", 1, 0);
} else {
app.alert("Submitting form", 3, 0);

Livecycle populate text field with multiple records from list box
Can someone tell me how can I populate a text field from list box when I have multiple select.
Here is example:
List box consist: Hello
World.
I want to see this in text field: Hello,World.
Thanks!Hi Legro
I don't know if I understand you correctly, but you can do something like this:
----------------- java script begin ---------------------------------
//Reset text field
TextField.rawValue = "";
//loop through items in listbox
for(i = 0; i < ListBox.length; i++)
//if item selected
if(ListBox.getItemState(i))
//check if Text field value if null
if (TextField.isNull)
TextField.rawValue = ListBox.getDisplayItem(i);
else
TextField.rawValue = TextField.rawValue + " " + ListBox.getDisplayItem(i);
----------------- java script end ---------------------------------
I have attached an sample PDF so that you can see how it works!!

Hi there,
I'm new to InDesign and have a question about documents with mixed page sizes in CS5. I'm preparing an illustrated book for print and was hoping to be able to contain all the pages (including the covers) in one document. My basic setup is 140 mm x 210 mm with a 3 mm bleed on each side. I've managed to add the different cover page (146 mm x 216 mm) and spine (10 mm) dimensions easily enough, but can you have multiple bleed specifications too? The bleed allowance I need for the case layout is 15 mm. I've scoured InDesign and the net, but can't find any information about this anywhere. It would seem rather silly to be able to have multiple page sizes in your document without being able to change the bleed allowance too. Here's hoping it's possible! Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Alexandriamake sure what your printer means ie: Page size + 6mm spine bulk + 15mm bleed.

For iphone users with att, can you block incoming texts all together? After paying $20 for data i dont want to pay as i go/pay more for texts
SMS is exchanged over the same network as calls - no data involved.
MMS requires data.
iMessage requires the same as email - internet access via an available wi-fi network or via your carrier's cellular data network.
You can disable SMS/MMS altogther with your account by requesting this with AT&T. You can turn iMessage off unless your iPhone is connected to an available wi-fi network.
