Can you share tags with other workstations on a network.

We are using Photoshop Element to tag photos at my work.  How do I allow other users on other computers to see the tags I have given pictures.  We are all on a network that can see the same picture folder.  We have our own license of the program at each workstation. Is it possible?

How would I write the tags to the photo file?  And if I did this how would I have other users import the tags I am using?  Or if I write the tags to the photo file do I even need to have the other user import the tags or do they come over when other user open photo files that have tags writen to them?
Thank you for helping me with these questions.

  • Can I share tags with other users on shared folders?

I have a shared folder that contains research articles. I have been able to set up the shared folder successfully so that 2-3 users can access the folder, add files and delete files. I have also been able to use the "tag" feature which has made it very easy and effective for tagging research articles by multiple categories and for searching for research files by tag/category.
However, what I have found is that the only person who can search by tag is the one who originally tagged the file. Other users of the shared folder cannot search by a tag that another user has created. Is there any way for 2-3 users to share the same tags and be able to edit these tags and search by the same tags? I would prefer that 2-3 people manage this research folder instead of just one.

No. iCloud provides no equivalent of the iDisk; it's designed for syncing calendars, email, bookmarks, contacts, photos a iWork (only, so far) documents between your Mac(s) and iPhone/iPod/iPad. The data is not accessible to anyone else.

  • Can you share photos with others through iCloud

Unfortunately only iPhoto on the iOS platform currently has the ability to share photos through its photo journal feature.

Copy the entire iTunes folder from your old computer to your new one using one of the methods discussed here: iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer.  If you no longer have the old computer and you have to transfer it from your phone, you will have to purchase and use third-party software to extract the music from your phone, such as Touch Copy  or CopyTrans.

Just to bring this into context, it helps to keep in mind Adobe's reluctance add any functionality to its software that would encourage working over a network.  The following can be read in many archived messages at the Photoshop forum:
This is the boilerplate text often used in connection to saving to a network in the Photoshop forums. Please NOTE the part where it explains that normally, it does work, but that it is impossible to troubleshoot someone else's network remotely, and that's why it's not supported by Adobe:
If you are opening files over a network or saving them to a network server, please cease and desist immediately in the event you are currently experiencing problems with one or more files. Working across a network is not supported.
    See:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406793.html
Copy the CLOSED file from your server to your local hard disk, work on it, save it again to your local hard disk, close it, and copy the closed file back to the server.
Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support working across a network does not necessarily mean it won't work.   It should.
Adobe's position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to guarantee that everything will work correctly in every network, especially given the fact that if something does not work properly, it's probably the network's fault, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting your network.
If you can't work locally, you are on your own, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you must work from a server, make sure your network administrator is a competent professional.
When problems arise, a lot of valuable work can be lost.

If you have iPhoto on an iOS device rather than a Mac, you can create a 'Photo Journal', which is an online gallery hosted on iCloud: details here -

Click on the Sharing button in Contacts. Several options:

If you mean "share" as in Calendar sharing, then that is not possible.

  • Can I share iTunes with others in my family or do we have to all buy the same songs since we have different apple IDs?

I am new to iTunes and am wondering if I can share iTunes with my family or do we just have to all purchase the same songs multiple times since our devices have different apple ID's.  My iPhone was set up last year to one iTunes ID and I just got an iPad but it has a different apple ID. So I can't even share with myself! It seems stupid to have my husband and I both purchasing the same music.

There are two ways to share your content. The simplest is just to use homesharing. Simply set up homesharing on each device from the iTunes advanced menu (you need to use the same details on each computer), providing the computers are on the same network they should see each other and can be found in the list on the left hand side of the iTunes window.
The second way is to transfer the content to another computer, play it and authorise it to play content from that account by entering the original account password when prompted (this only needs doing once for each account, not for each tune)
