Can you use the Grid with the Straighten Tool in the HUD?

A grid appears when using the mouse to straighten an image but not when using the more accurate sliders in the HUD! Doesn't make sense. Is it possible to turn the grid on when using the HUD?

Hi Allan. Can you confirm that you cannot get 0.1º changes by clicking the slider arrows (on each side of the number to the right of the slider) while pressing {Option}?
I'm getting at least that level of precision. I say "at least" because sometimes I will get a change in the image with no change in the number. I assume that the change is measurable, but is rounded and therefore not shown in the control which shows only tenths.
On my machine there is no difference in precision between the slider with modifier keys and the on-image adjustment.

Absolutely! They will restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents. Follow the instructions in the section Restoring from recovery DVDs/media, which begins on p. 73 of the User's Guide.

As I said, the 10-fc12-045d error would not be due to the drive's being AFT, but more likely the discs are not being read properly. New discs can be obtained from Toshiba. Scroll down to Get Recovery Media here

Nope, I personally do not like android.
I find it to be annoying in a lot of little ways.
I have used both a phone(galaxy s) and have a cheap tablet(archos 70).
The only reason to get an android device is if you can not live without being able to fiddle with 100's of different settings, widgets, screen animations, etc to totally customize the device or you cannot afford an iPad and will accept one of the cheaper tablets realizing you are getting a pretty poor substitute.
In the case of cheap tablet-Nook Color tablet is probably best choice. In another month or so xda will crack it and have some really good ROMs for it.

Can you use surround sound with the built-in optical out on dual 1.8 g5?

Ok here's the thing, I just got the new version of Final Cut Studio, and was wanting to set up my g5 to utilize the surround mixing capabilities of SoundTrack Pro 2.
I have verified that i'm getting 5.1 sound via Apple's DVD Player, but when i go to Applications-> Utilities->Audio MIDI Setup, I cannot configure the system for multiple channels. It only allows me to output stereo.
Is my assumption of being able to use the built-in optical out for 5.1 monitoring incorrect? Do I have to go buy a firewire/usb audio interface?

Greetings and welcome to the Apple boards.
The Mac puts out encoded 5.1. It is the function of the amplifier, receiver or decoder to take that signal and turn it into something useful. At minimum you will need a device that can accept that output and turn it into something useful.
Most studios that I am familiar with want to be able to use their own 5.1 decoder, amp and speakers. Juicier sound!

Paid content purchased from the itunes store is always assigned to a single apple id. You will be unable to use the purchased content on another apple id.
Next time you change your apple id instead of creating an entire new apple id just change the primary email address to the email you would like to use.
e.g. current apple id is [email protected] but you want to change it. what you do is:
- go to appleid.apple.com
- select manage apple id
- sign in
From here what you want to do is change/edit your current primary email which in this case is [email protected] Simply select edit and enter the new email you would like as your apple id. Lastly you will be sent a verification email to verify the email addres and TADA your done.

You can audio-chat with a PC user with the latest version of AIM and a mic (on the PC). On the Mac side though, you need to have a camera (camcorder or iSight) plugged in. You cannot audio-chat with a PC AIM user without a camera.
I use my powerbook 1.33 GHz, iChat AV3 and my Sony DV camcorder (FW) to audio-chat with friends using PCs eqipped with AIM and just a mic. No problems at all.

Can you use a stylus with iAnnotate?

I am looking for an app that will allow you to open a pdf and mark revisions using a stylus on the pdf then email the pdf w/ the revisions. I can see there are many features in the iAnnotate app but my boss will not want to learn the features, just simply wants to handwrite the revisions on the pdf and email to me. Anyone know if this can be done with iAnnotate or can suggest another app? Also any recommendation on a stylus would be appreciated. Thanks

I had the same thought which is why I have waited to pursue until I had my own iPad to experiement on. I've tried searching for simple programs since I really think he will only use this one feature but have not been able to find enough feedback on the apps. Plus many users like to use the more advanced features while he is still a little more "old school" wanting to make handwritten revisions. But if I could pull this off it would save so much time faxing documents to random places along the road for him to receive, edit and fax back. Thanks for your input!

Can you use wifi sync with multiple libraries and multiple devices

Hi all
Does anyone know if you can use wifi sync with 1 computer, 2 libraries and 2 devices?
I have my wife's iPhone synced to 1 library and mine to another library but on the same computer. Will wifi sync work this way or do you need iTunes to be open to the correct library for it to work? As I know you can't have 2 instances of itunes open on the same computer.

I have been looking more and more into this and it appears no.
You need to have iTunes running on the computer to enable it to wifi sync. You can use 2 devices on 1 library but if you don't have all the right options ticked you will then end up with each others stuff on each others device.
To enable wifi sync you need to have your iDevice connected to the same wifi network as your computer and iTunes open on that computer.
With my library open it detected my wife's phone and started to sync. Hasty push of cancel sync button lol.
There is a guide on here somewhere about multiple devices with 1 library which I can't find at the moment that tells you which options to tick so only your stuff stays on your device the the other half's on their device.
Its basically tick 'sync only ticked songs and videos' under summary of your device
Under apps take tick out of 'automatically sync new apps'
Then under edit->preferences click device and click prevent i's from syncing automatically
I think you should then be able to sync both devices to 1 library with mucking them up too much
Hopefully please correct me if I'm wrong
I have tried not doing the last step and asking it to open itunes automatically when phone is connected but this does not work with wifi sync

Can you use a mouse with an ipad air?

We recently purchased an iPad Air. With my wife's work, sometimes she has to access a web site from home that uses adobe flash. we discovered a browser that allows her to access that site. Now because of the complexity of the site, she would need a keyboard and preferably a mouse. I know that you can sync a keyboard to the iPad using bluetooth. My question is, can you also sync a wireless mouse to the iPad? If you can sync both the keyboard and mouse, it would greatly reduce our need for a PC laptop. Any suggestions welcome.

You cannot use a mouse as it defeats the point of a MacBook. You can although have a keyboard for the iPad which allows word processing and simple things like typing emails. Hope this helps

UK PAC Code... can you use AFTER activation with O2?

Here's a question for UK iPhone owners after next Friday, 9 Nov 07 (please excuse my ignorance)...
Does anyone know whether or not you'll be able to port over/in your existing mobile phone number DAYS AFTER you've activated an iPhone in iTunes (using the number "O2" automatically provide on the SIM inside the iPhone at point of purchase) by phoning O2 & requesting a transfer afterwards?
Let me put it another way... if I activate a UK iPhone on Fri 9 Nov, then get my PAC code (within 5 working days) from my existing network, "Virgin", when my contract expires the following week, THEN ring "O2" and give them my "Virgin" PAC code so I keep my existing number... would this work?

Can You Use an iPad With a G5?

My mother in law just got an iPad, but has been unable to set it up with her G5 PowerMac. When she first connected the iPad, it told her that her iTunes was too old, so she updated that. Then it said the just-updated iTunes would not run with her OS (10.4.x). That's where we got stuck. Her Mac was never upgraded past 10.4, we don't have a 10.5 installation disc, and I can't install 10.6 or later on a G5. And I don't know how to downgrade iTunes, or even if that would work. I also don't understand why it would let her ugrade to a version of iTunes that won't run on her OS.
Since Apple no longer sells 10.5, does that mean she can't use her iPad without getting a new machine? The whole point of getting the iPad is so she wouldn't have to update her computer any time soon.

Doubtful. There really isn't an input method available that would work in the scenario.
