Cancel Digital Signatures

Hi All,
Will u please let me know the cancellation procedure using digital signatures in detail?
I have proper config setup for approval of documents using digital signatures. Does cancellation too require any special config setup?
Also, I read that the comments section in digital signature pop up does not get saved at all.
Now, If i want to capture the reason for cancellation in workflow - how do i go about doing it ?

  • Digital Signature :- Changing contents in Original and revoking Diital Sign

    Hi
We have a requirement as follows
    1) There are 4 approval levels for a status A2 (Approval 2)
    2) Levels are S1, S2, S3, S4 where S4 is the Program Director who finally releases the status
    3) Initially S1 wud approve, then S2, then S3 and so on. Finally S4 would sign digitally ( after signatures from S1, S2 and S3 ) to complete the Digital Signature process.
    4) I have created release strategies and everything is working fine.
    5) Now consider this
    a) Approver S3 found that the Document needs to be changed, he want to edit the document and sign it.
But since we are using Digital Signature , the status is locked and orginal cannot be edited. How can we do this then..
    b) Approver S3 want to cancel the Digital Signature process and return to old status A1.
Here I tried to cancel the "Signature process" but old signatures of S1 , S2 was not canceled and the Document status was not reverted to A1 (old Status). Only thing happened was that the process was terminated and again when I open the DIR its asking signature from S3 only ( it should ask from S1 and S2 ideally, I believe)
    Please guide.
    Regards
    Aby

    Aby,
You are actually trying to find a technical solution for a business process issue. I suggest that you first set the business processes right, before trying to resolve it technically.
Once you have decided that S4 will finally sign off using a digital signature, if somebody further down in the loop wants to change the document, definitely it should lead to the creation of a new version of the same document and it should follow the same S1,S2,S3,S4 route.
    Hope this clarifies,
    Sojan

  • Pop Up message when clicking digital signature stating "this is an official document"

How can I have a message pop up when clicking on digital signature that warns the person they are signing an official government document.  I invision the message popping up making the statement and a button within the message that can be clicked to sign it.  Any ideas?   form Attached
    Thanks
    Mike

Thats strange, cos it works when i add the code to the mouseDown event. When I click OK on the popUp it asks which handler I would like to use (I have a digital cert and a signing pad). I can then sign the doc and the form then attaches itself to an email. I do notice a small problem though... If i try to 'Cancel' (ie abort the signing process) when it asks which handler i want to use, the form still attaches itself to an email even though the sig field is empty. Im not sure if you want it to do that? I have attached the pdf with the code added. Let me know if it works.

  • Digital Signature for QM notification status change

    Hello experts,
I need your guidance regarding implementation of user digital signature for QM notification status change. Our customer has ECC 6.0 but they are not inclined to introduce enhancement package 3 soon. Now their requirement is that while QM notification status change they want to have a user signature pop-up to verify the user authorization to do so. But they don't want to do so by using digital signature via DMS status change.
I am really not sure if I have explained the situaion correctly or not as i am quite new to QM. But I am desparately looking forward to get your valued replies in this regard.
    Best regards,
    Anirban

To fulfill the FDA requirement we have apply the logic to make sure that a digital signature is captured for status changes during task processing.
To map this requirement we have developed one custom table to store remark that will be displayed on digital signature remarks textbox. This table will have following feild:
    STAT - System/ user status
    QMART - QN type
    SPARS - language
    TEXT - character text.
Work with ABAPer to implement this, and after implementing validate following key point:
u2022     Validate that after successful digital signature that the signature cannot be overwritten.
u2022     Validate the locking of the User ID after customer specific number of unsuccessful signature attempts.
u2022     Verify that the digital signature works for each status.
u2022     Validate that if the digital signature is cancelled prior to successful entry that the system status reverts back to previous status and all processing authorizations allowed for that status still function properly.
Hope my reply will help you.
    Thanks!!!

  • Basic Doubts in Digital Signatures ES

    1) Revocation Checking : i read that the certifications will be checked(to see whether it has been cancelled) by checking the CRLs list. Where can i find this list?
    2) What is the concept behind Long Term Validity in Digital Signatures ES.
Please help me in understanding Digital Signatures ES.

Revocation Checking : i read that the certifications will be checked(to see whether it has been cancelled) by checking the CRLs list. Where can i find this list?
ANSWER:  The CRL typically resides on a server somewhere, and is accessible with an http URL.  The URL is specified within the digital certificate itself.  From an Acrobat point of view, when a CRL is acceesed during a revocation check, it may be cached on the client side.  The cached CRLs are stored at:
    C:\Documents and Settings\enteruserproflehere\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0\Security\CRLCache
What is the concept behind Long Term Validity in Digital Signatures ES.
Long Term validation has to do with how are signatures validated many years down the road...  When certificates expire (typically the validity period for a certificate is 1 year) the status of the signature can change.  It does not mean that the signature is invalid, it just means that based on the current time, the certificate has expired and therefore this is reflected in the signature status.  If the signature is validated in the future using "The time at which the signature was created" then it will report a Valid different status (assuming the document has not been tampered with.
The "time" used to validate signatures is a Preference setting in Acrobat and Reader (Edit > Preferences... > Security > Advanced Preferences... > Verification)

  • Problem validating digital signature

    Hi!
When I try to validate a digital signature in Adobe Acrobat, I get two different responses, given the path I choose to validate the signature.
If I go through "Signatures panel" and check the validity of the certificate that signed the document, it tells me it's OK. If I click directly on the signature, and go through "Signature properties", it tells me the certificate signature can't be verified.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks in advance!

Which Acrobat version, which OS? Could you, provide screen shots indicating where do you see discrepancy?
    Also, please do the following.
    1. Close and reopen Acrobat. Open your PDF. Look at the Signatures pane and record info in it. Then click on the signature. When you click on the signature it revalidates it and then offers you to open :Signature Properties" dialog. If you cancel this offer and look a the Signatures pane again, does it show the same info as the first time?
    2. Close and reopen Acrobat. Open your PDF. Look at the Signatures pane and record info in it. Right-click on the signature and select "Show Signature Properties". The "Signature Properties" dialog comes up (without revalidating the signature as in #1). Does it say the same as in #1?

  • Stop Save Upon Digital Signature

Is there a way to stop the option to have to save a PDF after signing it?
I have a form with 3 digital signature fields in it.  The end user fills out the form, signs it then clicks the email button to send it to their Manager.  The Manager opens the form, signs it then a Save As dialog box comes up to save the file.  If the Manager cancels the dialog box, a prompt comes up saying "The document could not be signed."  The Manager process should be the same as the end users except they send the file to our HR department instead.  Currently the Managers have to save the file to their Desktop to be able to send to HR.  Is there a way around this?
    Thank you for your assistance.

    Hi,
First off, the previous post is incorrect, you may most certainly add multiple signatures to a PDF file without invalidating the previous signature.
Now on to your question, and the short answer is no. To expand a bit, unlike other operations that can take place in memory, thus eliminating the Save until you are ready to close the file, signing is a bit different and for security reasons the computed cryptographic hash must be over the bytes on disk. If Acrobat were going to compute the hash over a range of memory it would be susceptible to an attack where you could end up signing something other than what you thought you were signing. Because of the seriousness of a signature (imagine you were signing a contract) you wouldn't want part of the document to change during the signing operation, which is what could happen if you signed the bytes in memory.
So the bottom line is signing will always invoke a Save operation. You might have notices that you can sign a PDF online in the browser and you aren't prompted to save, but Acrobat does a full save to the temp file location. If you elect to save your signed file all you are doing is moving it from the temp folder to the save as location. Also, multiple signatures (again, disregard the previous post) require incremental saves which is what allows Acrobat to roll back to the specific signed version.
    I hope this helps,
    Steve

  • Email attachments and digital signature

I used to be able to open a email attachment, review it and then digitally sign it.
Since the new IT people came it, the digital signature simply disappears. Any way to restore this function? Thanks.

We experienced a similar problem when Adobe updates were installed. It seems that a recent Adobe update took away the capability to save your digital signature directly to the PDF email attachment, then forward the email with the signed attachment. Now, when we open a PDF email attachment and place a digital signature, as soon as we have entered our password for our digital signature, we are prompted with the "Save As" dialog box asking us to save the document somewhere on the hard drive of our computer (the default location is My Documents). If you hit Cancel, then the signed version does not get saved. The attachment remains unsigned. So we learned we needed to go through the Save As dialog and choose (and remember) a location to save the PDF, such as My Documents or Desktop, then reply or compose a new email and attach the signed version that we had just saved in Documents/Desktop. We used to be able to hit the Save icon in Adobe and save our changes (digital signature) to the email attachment. Having to save the PDF somewhere other than the email itself is an extra step we'd prefer to avoid, and we'd be happy to learn of a way to go back to our old method. I believe the key was that Adobe would save the signed version somewhere in the "temp files" on the C drive and automatically use that version when the email is forwarded. And I think Adobe did away with that, unless there is a way to revert to that method using Preferences?
But I wonder if the Asker of this question is able to click "Place Signature" and has an opportunity to "Save As," saving the PDF on the hard drive of the computer for future attaching? Are you hitting "Cancel" in the Save As dialog?
If you save the signed PDF (i.e. in the default My Documents), then a slightly quicker method than having to browse to the saved document in Documents is, you can click on the envelope icon (Sharing) at the top of the screen. Then click the "Attach to Email" circle and click the "Attach" button. This will generate a new email in your email application (i.e. Outlook) with the signed PDF attached (Adobe pulls the signed version that you previously saved to your Documents). The downside to this is that the generated email will not have the original email thread or subject line, so you will need to add a relevant subject line.
Some of our users reported that they used the Share ... Attach to Email feature and their signatures would get wiped from the email attachment after they hit send. However, this phenomenon has not been witnessed since the most recent Adobe software update.

  • Adobe XI when i use signature option i try to use rectangle, it gives option of certificate signature, does not give me webcam or digital signature or any other option to sign

when i use signature option i try to use rectangle, it gives option of certificate signature, does not give me webcam or digital signature or any other option to sign, have downgraded to Adobe X, no options show. Have upgraded back to XI no change. Free software I am using currently.

There are two types of signatures in PDF: electronic signatures, which are just images (stamps, text, image) and digital signatures.
If you want to use electronic signatures in Acrobat XI go to Fill&Sign->Place Signature. If a drag rectangle for the digital signature dialog comes up, you have selected digital signatures and Acrobat/Reader remembered it. Cancel it, go back to Fill&Sign->Place Signature and click a triangle to the left of "Place Signature". Then click on "Changed Saved Signature" and select the electronic signature type you want to use.
If you want to use digital signatures you can create custom digital signature appearance. Go to Edit->Preferences->Signatures->Creation&Appearance->More. In the "Appearances" section click "New". You will be presented with the dialog that allows you to create a custom appearance. If you want to put there your picture or image of your ink signature, you need to prepare this image as a file beforehand, select "Image" radio button, browse to the location of your image file. In Reader you can use only PDF as your image file. In Acrobat you can use many more file formats: JPEG, PNG, etc.

BigChap posted this reply ealier - it worked great for me.
right click on Internet Explorer on your desktop and choose Properties/advanced and check the box "allow software to run or install when signature is invalid".
hit Apply. then close Internet Explorer and restart. got to download site and choose "run" instead of "save". worked for me after dozens of other attempts failed

  • Checking Digital Signature Field

    Hi There,
How do I check if a digital signature field has a signature without having to call validation, for example signatureValidation()?
Issue - I have a script that hides some text in PreSign event and if the user clicks cancel during the singing process, I want to undo the hiding. The idea is to have a script in the PostSign event to check if the signature exists and then undo. I'm trying to avoid calling signatureValidation() and invoke a send validation if the signature validation already took place.
    Please help.
