Cannot assign an empty string to a parameter with JDBC type VARCHAR

Hi,
I am seeing the aforementioned error in the logs. I am guessing its happening whenever I am starting an agent instance in PCo. Can somebody explain whats going on?

Sounds like a UI browsing bug (when no path is selected from a catalog tree folder browser) - I would suggest logging a support ticket so that it can be addressed.

Good day Kiran Kandepalli and Others.
I have successfully executed the background jobs -
Full User, Role, Profile Synchronization & a
Full Batch Risk Analysis
When I run the Management Reports I receive the following error -
Error while executing the Job:Cannot assign an empty string to host variable 10.
Has anybody had this error message before?
When I check table VIRSA_CC_PRMVL, variable 10 is set to No in Nullable collumn.

Thanks for your response. I have checked the usr02 table and logs and do not see any empty fields or strings. This process worked for 5.2 but fails in 5.3. Here is the excerpt from the log for the Management Report run. It seems to fail consistenly at a certain point. If I knew what the batch job was looking for in host variable 10 I might be able to resolve the problem. It seems to fail when it starts to report on users.

Management Report - Cannot assign an empty string to host variable 10

We ran a Management Report for the first time after completing the User/Role/Profile Full Sync and the user/Role/Profile Batch Risk Analysis. The job failed with the following error:

We are on GRC 5.3 support pack 4. Has anybody encountered this error? What does host variable 10 refer to?

I checked our USOBT_C table and we have a lot of empty values. If this is allowed to be empty in SAP and this is the table that is uploaded into CC, why would all the fields in CC tables then be defined as NOT NULL? We suspect that since we had uploaded USOBT_C under 5.2 and if this had been an issue before, it may have been corrected when we upgraded to 5.3 but then the old data is still in our system. Is there an easy way to get around or correct this?

Forms: Oracle AS 10g R2 - parameter with "char" type only limit to 4k

Hi,
i have one forms with parameter ":parameter.whole_rights" (Datatype=Char, Length=32767) over design time.
when i compiled and execute it in old server (Oracle AS 10g R1), it work perfectly but when compiled and execute it over the 10gr2, it always show ora-06502: pl/sql: numeric or value error.
after some troubleshooting, i found out that the maximum length for "char" type parameter is only 4k. if i assign any string larger than 4k characters, it will show the error as per mentioned but it work on old server...
anyone have this problem and how to resolve it???
additional information:
server is on unix environment.

Hi there,
the application does not use up all the 32k characters, the maximum length it use currently is around 6k.
the parameter is used to store all the available access right (forms name, button/object name, read, write etc which is very customized & application specific design). every related access right in that parameter will be passed seperately into related form when the form is called to control the view, transaction nature etc.
as the design involve other system who passed the data in, i not really plan to change it as it involve interface between 2 systems instead try other possible ways (simple and less impact).
i think i should not say it use up all 32k, i just curious why the application declare the length as 32k over the forms design time but the actual length was only limited to 4k during forms execution time on Oracle AS r2.
thanks for suggesting me to try the copy build in and i will try it & post the result tomorrow. i think it should work because i saw your quote for the documentation here:
In Oracle Forms 10g, all parameters of datatype CHAR are limited to 4000 bytes when set or referenced using PL/SQL bind variable notation; for other usages no limit is imposed.
as the "copy" build in does not use the parameter as PL/SQL bind variable, quite large posibilities it works...will try and update the result tomorrow....
another question: where did you get the documentation for oracle forms?? i'm searching around and still cant find the quote that you copy from documentation. hopefully you can give me the link for my future reference.

Implementing Empty Versions of Interface Methods with Return Types

Subject probably is probably a bit long but I was stumped for a brief way to summarize my question. Let's say I have the interface below:

    ...snip...
}From this I want to make two concrete classes, say ClassOne and ClassTwo. Given the type of data each one is fetching, ClassOne only needs (and should only) implement get(int id) and ClassTwo only needs (and should only) implement get(String clause). This is because the first class will always deal with only one record from table_a and the second class will always deal with one or more records from table_b. So my question is what is the correct way to provide empty implementations for the unnecessary methods?
I've thought of using an adapter to implement empty methods but a) I'm not sure that makes sense and b) I still end up have to return something. Another option was maybe having multiple interfaces, one returning a single object and the other returning an array. Neither of those options felt right and looked a bit goofy when I prototyped them out. It seems to me that I wouldn't want the classes using the concrete DAO classes to be able to call the wrong method, but I don't know how to hide the unused method. Right now I just return an empty Object or Object[] for the unused method but that seems goofy too, and makes the class using ClassOne or ClassTwo know the innards of the implementations.
Anyway, any tips appreciated.

It sounds as if the methods weren't meant to be together, and so I'm wondering if you aren't better off with two distinct interfaces, one for each method. Otherwise one solution would be to implement a method that throws an exception if it is not meant to be called.

By using the latest versions of MySql and mm mysql jdbc drivers you can
read and write unicode characters from/into MySql database. You can download
mm.mysql jdbc driver from http://mmmysql.sourceforge.net/
We haven't tested this jdbc driver officially.

Fim Error - The type f 'PictureURL' ( String) is not compatible with the type of 'SPS_MV_OctetString_PictureURL' (Binary)

In my farm, Sycnhronization has been broken - however FIMSycnServices are started and running.
I am getting application error with event ID 6801 and MS has suggested to recreate and application proxy in one of the support forum as below :

However , I was checking the FIM tool and came across Error by executing following steps:
1) Open MIIS Client
2) Click Managment Agents
3) Ricght click Extensible Connectivity and select Properties

Would you please let me know why this error and what is resolution ?

Cannot cancel a GR: Goods movement not possible with mvmt type 502

Hi,
I was trying to cancel a goods receipt for an inbound delivery. However I ran into trouble with the following error message.
Goods movement not possible with mvmt type 502 .
Is there some configuration that I would be needed to make before I can cancel a goods receipt?

To expand on the above some,
check the mvmnt type used for the origanal GR and use the coresponding reversal mvnmt type.
or confirm for us that the origanal receipt was in fact a 501??

NULL vs. Empty String

I am new to ORACLE, moving over from MS SQL Server. Is it true that you cannot enter an empty string into a NOT NULL VARCHAR2?
I am trying to convert data from an existing DB and I NEED to be able to have an empty string as much of the code base is using this to validate data (vs. a NULL). Is there any solution at all for this problem? I really do not want to keep my existing DB running but there is too much time involved converting code.

In Oracle database, Oracle treats NULL and empty string
column the same. Therefore, you cannot insert an empty string into a NOT NULL column.
In OracleDataReader, if you want to find out if the column contains the NULL values, use the OracleDataReader.IsDBNull() function.

Problem with Column types and String

Hi
I have some problem while comparing against empty string.
My column is of type it_Linked_Button. Actually it seems that column type doesn't matter.
If cell that belongs to this column is empty and based on other columns' values I put some value into this cell.
It works fine.
But when I clear that cell and try to put some value again nothing happens.
In my if statement I'm checking against empty string and it fails second time.
Before I put anything in that cell (in debugger) that value is "" so it is empty and it works.
(OK, I see that after I posted this message it was slightly reformated)
But after I put something and clear that cell and try to put something again (in debugger) I get "(here is some long space) " which fails String.IsNullOrEmpty(var) test.
What is going on? Has it something to do with Column type?
How to clear it so I can put something in it again?
One more thing - to put values and clear it I use DbDataSource SetValue method. And String.Empty or ""(doesn't matter)

SharePoint 2013 - The parameter 'token' cannot be a null or empty string

I have stored procedure which accept TVP with columns of 'sql_variant' type. And I have C++ application which call this stored procedure.
When i pass some non-empty string as sql_variant from my application - all works fine.
But when I need to pass empty string ("") as sql_variant - I get following error:
"OLEDB hr = 0x80040e14
#0: OLEDB provider error 3621 "The statement has been terminated."
#1: OLEDB provider error 8062 "The data for the table-valued parameter 1 doesn't conform to the table type of the parameter."
#2: OLEDB provider error 8046 "The incoming tabular data stream (TDS) remote procedure call (RPC) protocol stream is incorrect. Table-valued parameter 0 (""), row 1, column 1: The supplied length is not valid for data type sql_variant.
Check the source data for invalid lengths. An example of an invalid length is data of nchar type with an odd length in bytes."
Could you please help me deal with that issue?

Thank you for your question.
Based on my understanding of your question, the issue is related with passing SQL_VARIANT data type in C++ application using Microsoft OLE DB Provider.
As we can see from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms173829(v=sql.100).aspx:
ODBC does not fully support sql_variant. Therefore, queries of sql_variant columns are returned as binary data when you use Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC (MSDASQL). For example, a sql_variant column that contains the character string data 'PS2091'
is returned as 0x505332303931.
According to above statement, as you are using OLEDB provider for ODBC with sql_variant in your application, it is not fully support. Seems there are some conversion failure within the Stored Procedure calling. You may consider to adjust your application
slightly to use other commonly supported data types which also fits your application requirements.
I listed some more information regarding sql_variant below for your reference:
A column of type sql_variant may contain rows of different data types such as int, binary and char values.
A sql_variant data type must first be cast to its base data type value
before participating in operations such as addition and subtraction. You can find the conversion details in "Comparings sql_variant Values" part.
Below types of values cannot be stored by using sql_variant:
varchar(max)
varbinary(max)
nvarchar(max)
xml
text
ntext
image
timestamp
sql_variant
geography
hierarchyid
geometry
User-defined types
