Cannot combine PDFs into single PDF in Acrobat XI for Mac

I've been attempting to combine about 20 PDF files into a single PDF.  When I select this option from the file drop down menu or try and select it after launching Adobe Acrobat Pro, nothing happens.  There are no updates available for this software, so I'm confused as to what's causing the problem.  Thanks for any insight/advice!

Hey,
You might try combining the PDF files using 'Create> PDF Portfolio' option and let me know if it works or not.
Please let me know.

Anubha

    Hi Rodney
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
This sounds like one of those "oddities", contributed to by a few sources.
I can clear the Safari cache files as a temporary solution, but I encounter the same difficulties with the “problematic” files once they have been opened again.
Wondering if you disabled the Safari Cache would the refresh function work correctly? As a test you can disable the Safari Cache by Emptying the Cache first via the Safari menu, then Quit Safari. Now go to the Finder>Your User Library>Caches>Safari. Single click on the Safari folder, then Apple Key + I to open Info panel. There, check the "locked" box. This prevents further additions to the cache. The downside, you lose your ability to upload images etc. within Safari (my cache is disabled, so I use Firefox for the uploads).
Then restart Safari. Try the PDF from within Safari.

    Hi Kswron,
Have you tried to upgrade IE to 10. I would suggest to install latest updates to IE and upgrade to 10 and check the issue again.

How do you edit document text in pdf in Acrobat Pro 11 Mac? I know I can do it in the Windows version, but can't find same tool in Mac.

Should be the same but it isn't. I have included a screenshot of my tools choices in both my Mac and PC versions - they are totally different.

  • Unable to attach PDF to email (Outlook for Mac 2011)

We are pushing out software upgrades for CS5 and MS Office 2011 for Mac. We've discoverd that we can't use the Attach to email feature in Acrobat. The spinning rainbow wheel pops up for about a minute, and then Acrobat is non-responsive and we have to force quit. We can still drag and drop an attachment so we have a viable workaround but obviously we'd like to be able to use the automated feature.
    All software is up-to-date.
In the preferences panel of Outlook, we have selected Outlook to be the default mail application.
As a sidenote, this feature doesn't work with Acobat X beta either. However, in the beta version of Acrobat X, if we declare Apple's mail application to be the default, it works fine. Unfortunately we use the Office suite as part of our enterprise system, so that's what we need to work with.
Has anyone else experienced this? I've logged a ticket with Adobe but I haven't heard back from them yet.
    Thanks for any advise.

    Take the bhama way
figured out how to make it work.  I am using Adobe Acrobat X Pro (mac)
and MS Outlook for Mac 2011.
For those who are interested, this is what I did:
    1. Create a folder on desktop to save your pdf¹s files you want to email
to.  Mine is named, "PDF to Email"
    2. Open Automator, create a "Folder Action"
    3. At the top, "Choose Folder", choose your newly created folder on the
    desktop
    4. Choose the "Rename Finder Items" action from the action list.  I chose,
"Don¹t Add" on the add a Copy Finder Items Action menu.
    5. On the "Add Date or Time to Finder Item Names" I chose, "Name Single
Item" from the first drop down menu.
    6. Click on "Options" at the bottom of that window to select the "Show
this action when the workflow runs" so you can rename your         file
something other than the Acrobat default.
    7. Choose the "Create New Outlook Mail Message" from the action list and
add it below the "Name Single Item in Finder Item Names"
    8. Choose "File>Save As" and give your file a name.  Mine is, "PDF to
    Email".
    9. Close Automator
    10. Open Acrobat X Pro.
    11. Go to "File>Action Wizard>Create New Action"
    12. Here you choose, "Save to>A Folder on my computer"
    13. Choose the folder on the desktop that we saved earlier
    14. Save the file, with the action name you will remember.
Now when you are in Acrobat X Pro and you want to send that .pdf file via
Outlook for Mac 2011, follow the steps below.
With the file you want to email open, go to "File>Action Wizard>(Action
you created) Mine is "PDF to Email".  It will take a few seconds, but you
will get an "Action Completed".  You will get a pop up that allows you to
name/rename the file. Then it should open your Outlook with your .pdf
    attached and ready for sending.
You might need to tweak the actions to suit your needs, but this should
    work for you.

  • Functionality of Adobe Acrobat Pro for Mac questions?

Greetings! After 35 years in the Windows environment, I became the proud owner of a MacBook air last night, and I want to install Adobe Acrobat Pro for Mac on it. I would like to know if the features and functionality of the Mac version are the same as those on the Adobe Acrobat Standard that I have been using in my Windows environment for so many years.
The Windows version gives me everything I need, most importantly the ability to add text as annotations into documents that have been scanned and sent to me as PDFs, fill in forms, create forms, etc.
Additionally, can someone help me with the differences between the subscription version and the full purchase version? Does the subscription version have any problems, is it just as functional as the full purchase version?
    Thank you so much all!
    S.

If you don't have a physical printer hooked up to your Mac you can still do the Save As Adobe PDF with a "faux" printer setup.  Here are the steps to set that up:
    1.  Go to Apple menu>System Preference>Printers and Scanners
    2.  Press the plus symbol button "+"
    3.  In the Add dialog select IP at the top
    4.  in the Address field put the numbers 127.0.0.1
    5.  In the Protocol pop-up menu make sure that Line Printer Daemon - LPD is selected
    6.  Leave the Queue field bland for the default printer
    7.  In the Name field it will say "127.0.0.1" and you can leave it to that or change it to anything you want.
    8.  Leave the Location field blank
    9.  Leave the Use field pop-up menu field at the default which is Generic PostScript Printer.
    10.  Click the Add button
    11.  You will get the message:
"Unable to verify the printer on your network.
Unable to connect to '127.0.0.1' due to an error.
Would you still like to create the printer?"
    12.  Click the Continue button.
    13.  In the Setting up '127.0.0.1...' dialog click the OK button
    14.  Open up TextEdit
    15.  Type some test text (e.g.  Test Text)
    16. In TextEdit Go to File>Print
    17. In the Print dialog, press on the PDF button on the lower Left side of the window.
    18.  Select Save As Adobe PDF.
    19.  In the Save As Adobe PDF dialog, select your Adobe PDF Settings and whether or not you want the resulting PDF to open in Adobe Acrobat Pro and then click the Continue button.
    20. In the Save window, title your PDF in the Save As: field, navigate to the location you want to save the PDF and then click the Save button.
    21. Done.

  • In Acrobat Reader for Mac is there a way to print just the page with comments?

What I mean is with my old Acrobat Pro for Mac, if I had a PDF that was 12 pages but only had comments on 3 pages, I could get a print out of the 3 document pages and the comments for those 3 pages.
    Thanks

Following EL will do what you want:
#{composerContext.inEditMode}In other words, the composerContext bean is available, even in a WebCenter Portal application. If you take a look at the default template (pagetemplate_globe.jspx) that is created when you create a webcenter portal application. On line 16, you see an example of the usage.
edit: sorry... Didn't see you meant the contribution mode...
Edit mode is by pressing ctrl+shift+e
    ctrl+shift+c is called contribution mode...
I just looked at the source code of the content presenter taskflow and this is what they are using to show the dotted line:
inlineStyle="#{composerContext.subView == 'contentContribution' ? 'border:2px dashed blue' : ''}">So I guess #{composerContext.subView == 'contentContribution'} will return true if you are in contribution mode. This should work both in spaces as in framework.
    Hope this helps.

If you don't have original install disks for your Mac, you can order replacements disks directly from Apple at a nominal cost. The original install DVDs are required to reset the password.
If you have no data on your drive that you want to keep, you can boot up from the OSX Snow Leopard disk and install OSX SL.
Insert the Snow Leopard DVD and hold the C key during startup. The Mac should boot from the CD/DVD drive into the installer.
Follow the prompts, erase the disk and install OSX Snow Leopard.

  • No Available ACROBAT 9 for MAC OS

    Hi,
We would like to know if why we doesn't have any Acrobat 9 for MAC?  How come ADOBE have an ACROBAT 9 PRO for MAC but not with Acrobat Standard and Acrobat Reader for MAC OS 10.6?  Why do customers need to upgrade to Acrobat 9 Pro MAC if they currently own a previous version of Acrobat 9 Standard?  And why not to upgrade to Acrobat 9 Standard?
Why Windows customers can upgrade to Acrobat Standard 9 and why MAC customers can't?
    Please enligthen our thoughts..

Adobe has never offered Acrobat Standard for Mac.
A lot of what is offered by Standard is already available with the Mac OS so why spend time, money and effort to develop a product that no one needs?

What is your Acrobat XI version?  If less than 11.0.09 I would suggest that you update, then try again.  Download updates from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Macintosh

  • Acrobat XI for Mac crashes my HP Laserjet 1536dnf MFP

Every time I try to print from Acrobat XI for Mac I get a fatal error code 79 on my HP Laserjet 1536dnf MFP.  The printer works fine with all other software.  Please help.

To expand on Michael Kazlow's response on behalf of Adobe …
There is absolutely nothing that Adobe software in its print process to directly cause this type of error. What may differentiate Acrobat XI printing from whatever other applications you are using might be the graphical complexity of the output from Acrobat (or Reader) triggering a firmware bug or a hardware error, possibly even a printer memory error if the file being printed is accessing memory that simpler jobs would never access.
