Cannot disable iCloud keychain on iPhone

On a new iphone6+ (iOS 8.1.3), the iCloud keychain (safari passwords) will not sync to this device.
A recommended solution from apple support is to disable iCloud Keychain on all devices, and enable it on the one with the most accurate information (then re-enable it on other devices).
Unfortunately, the iPhone6+ in question will not allow Keychain to be disabled--clicking the on/off toggle appears to change the status to "Off", but upon leaving the menu, the status still shows "On".
Signing out of iCloud and back in (on the device) doesn't solve the problem of no data sync'd, nor does it allow Keychain to be disabled.
This means I effectively cannot sync data to this device...any ideas?

This is not good, Apple making users like yourself start from scratch for a problem which lies with their servers screwing up for the past few days!
Wouldn't it be nice if Apple acknowledged the problem, at least on their iCloud system status page: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/systemstatus/

You need to have Lion as the OS for iCloud.
Apple is not doing iCloud for any older OS versions.
Don't really know about MM but I think they are shutting it down.

TS3988 Cannot use iCloud on my iPhone

I am trying to use iCloud on my iPhone but somehow it has an old email address as my Apple id and it will not let me change it. I have no idea how it got that old email address, except it was my Apple id many years ago. I have tried to delete iCloud from my phone but it tells me that I must enter a password for that old Apple id to delete Find My iPhone, which I apparently don't remember, so I cannot delete the app. I tried to recover the password for that email address thru forgot password but it says I put in the incorrect birthdate, and of course I can't have it email it to me since I no longer have that email address. Everything else on my iPhone uses my current Apple id. I have already signed out and back into everything using my current id. Any other suggestions? Thanks!!

Welcome to the Apple community.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID verify the changes, enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone".
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, verify it once again, delete the iCloud account from your device and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

Can't disable iCloud keychain on Yosemite

I'm running Yosemite on my MacBook Pro. I recently noticed that iCloud Keychain turned itself on although I don't want it on, so I tried to turn it off in the iCloud control panel, but the check box for the Keychain won't unselect. I then try to sign out of iCloud itself and get the message:
"Your iCloud account couldn't be removed at this time. Turn off all iCloud services and try again."
I'm able to turn off all the services except Keychain. :-(
Console shows error messages like the following:

What version do you see when you open iTunes and go to Help>About iTunes. You should see 11.0.4.4. If not, go to Help>Check for Updates and see if an update is available.
With iTunes 11.0.4 you should see this in Edit>Preferences on the Store tab (circled):

I cannot receive i-Cloud email on my Iphone. I can receive other email accounts and I can send from i-Cloud but not receive. I have not changed any settings. Anybody else experiencing this? Any suggestions?

I cannot get iCloud keychain to Approve with Security Code.

I wiped my iPhone 5s thinking that I could get access to my keychain back by using the "Approve with Security Code" button. When I put in my security code, it sends me a verification code via SMS to my phone. Afterwards, it goes back to the Keychain settings page and gives me the option to Approve with Security Code. Does not give an error message as if I messed up the Security Code or the Verification Code. The same thing happens when I try to Approve my Mac via SMS. I have tried to get this working on iOS 7.0.3, 7.0.4, and 7.1, as well as OSX 10.9. Any ideas on how I can get this feature working again?

I've used these boards a lot, so I wanted to respond to how I overcame the problem. You're given an option of setting it up from the phone, or your computer. In my case, I have a macbook pro. From my computer, I allowed the iPhone to receive icloud. It's under settings, iCloud, and the question will pop up. I'm not a tecky guy, so that's the best I can do. If that doesn't work, I'd try signing out of iCloud on your laptop or desktop, then signing back in. Futz around with the password on your iPhone until it comes up on your computer, then allow the iPhone to receive iCloud from your computer. Hope this helps!

Cannot access iCloud on new iPhone

I bought a new iPhone 5s and I'm unable to access the iCloud (in Settings; it's greyed out). I still have my old iPhone 4 and I can still access the iCloud in the Settings on that phone.
Do I need to delete the account from my old phone so I can access the iCloud on my new phone? I didn't want to just hit "delete account" on my old phone because I don't know if that just means deleting the account from the old device or if it meant deleting the account altogether.
When I hook up my new phone to iTunes it appears that that is the device that is storing into the iCloud; so why am I unable to access it on my new phone? Is it because the old phone is still seen as the "main account"?

Deleting the iCloud account from your old phone only deletes it from the device. The iCloud account is still there.
However, the issue you are seeing is due to Restrictions being set on. Go to Settings>General>Restrictions, and under the "Allow Changes" section, click on "Accounts" and then click on "Allow Changes".

Cannot access iCloud from new Iphone 4S

I am trying to set up a new IPhone 4S via iCloud Backup from 7 days ago.
I get already stuck at signing in to ICloud, the server does not respond, times out etc. Tested several wireless connections. Very annoying, that it won't take a cellular network, instead.
From my laptop I obviously can login to iCloud, fine.

Contact Applecare, and ask them to assist you in turning off iMessage. After they remove your iMessage registration from their system, SIGN OUT of all other devices that you have that use iMessage. After you have signed out on All the devices, you can sign back in using your Apple ID. Your phone number should no longer be used for imessage.

What will happen after disabling iCloud and connecting my iPhone to my iMac?

Now that I disabled iCloud on my iPhone, indeed the data is still available on my iPhone.
But now I tried to disable iCloud on my iMac, the data is lost.
Is it safe to connect my iPhone to my iMac and will my data (from my iPhone) be restored on my iMac? Or will I los all data?

They all list Apr 3 as the last time opened. That was when I upgraded to Mavericks. I certainly used pages and numbers since then as I have alot of my work files on this computer?

ICloud preferences and other apps hang on iPhone, can't enable/disable services to sync. How to force-disable iCloud on iPhone?

I've been having a lot of problems since upgrading to iOS5 and enablind iCloud on my iPhone 4:
- I've had both Contacts and the Phone app freeze repeatedly. Contacts often freezes when going back up to the "Groups" view, and I have to force-quit it to continue using it. I've also had repeated crashes of Phone when trying to view contacts.
- Whenever I try to enable or disable services to sync in the iCloud settings screen, it hangs forever in the twirling "Turning on/off" notification. I've left it running for at least an hour once and it never finished. I have to force-quit the Settings app, and the change I request never gets applied.
I've tried restoring the phone from backup and also resetting all preferences, but the problem persists ("reset all preferences" doesn't seem to erase the iCloud settings).
I'm this close to resetting my phone to zero and reinstall everything by hand, but I thought I'd ask to see if anyone knows of a way to forcefully disable iCloud on the iPhone, or anyone has seen these types of problems before.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can see what space is available to you on the phone at settings > general > usage > storage. It's the phone that needs the space (a little over 3 GB) to install iOS7.
Back ups or the space used by them isn't really relevant for installing iOS7, but that's not something you can see at iCloud.com.

Why can't I re-enable iCloud Keychain on my iMac?

I recently noticed that iCloud Keychain stopped syncing passwords between my devices. While my iMac was up-to-date, my iPad mini, iPhone and MacBook weren't. I found a support article that suggested disabling iCloud Keychain on all devices and re-enabling it later. I followed that advice only to be presented with a completely new issue.
On my iMac (27" Late 2012, Mac OS X 10.9.1), when I try re-enabling iCloud Keychain, I get the following error message after waiting for a few minutes:
"iCloud Keychain couldn't be set up because there was a problem communicating with iCloud. Try turning on Keychain again." (transcribed for sight-impaired users and search engines)
I've tried this about a dozen times over the past few weeks now (just in case it is a server-side error), but still no luck. I tried investigating and found the following error message pop up in Console at the same time as the error in the above image:
13.02.14 16:44:59,761 com.apple.preferences.icloud.remoteservice[9342]: [AOSAccounts] : [registerCredentials] : SOSCCSetUserCredentials Error The operation couldn’t be completed. Invalid argument.
Does anybody have any suggestions on what I could try to overcome this issue? Or could anyone from Apple see if there is something wrong with the iCloud Keychain data in my account?

This is a shot in the dark, but try this:
log-in to your iCloud account with your Apple ID
change your password
ensure your billing information is up-to-date
attempt to re-enable your Keychain (again)
