Cannot do nslooup from users after implemented VLAN on network

Hi all,
We just implemented vlan(6 vlans) on our network and it works fine. All traffic from diferent VLANs were routed by the L3 switch. We have 3750 switch which acts as L3 switch and 2970 and CE500 as access switches.
The issue is when clients tried to do nslookup on local DNS but could'nt get a reply. Our clients are very dependent on the AD which in turns also needs DNS to querry the DC.
But prior to implementing VLAN, when we're running on flat network we havent experience this issue.
Please see attached L3 config for reference.
Any inputs will be highly appreciated.

Hi Ursulo
You don't need the ip domain-lookup command on the switches/routers if you don't want it - it won't have any effect at all on whether your clients work.
Presuming you have your DNS servers set correctly on your client PCs, you should probably try the following steps:
1) On a client PC on a new VLAN with the problems, type nslookup. Then try entering a server name - try it on it's own (i.e. server1) and as an FQDN (server1.domain.co.uk). Record the results.
2) On your DNS server, try an NSLOOKUP same as before, but point it to itself (once in NSLOOKUP, type 'server 192.168.1.230' if it doesn't have itself as the primary DNS). Record these results.
This should confirm whether the DNS server is responding at all, and whether it is responding from the new VLAN.
A few other questions:
1) What type of client PCs do you have?
2) What DNS servers do you have assigned to the NICs on your DNS servers and DCs?
3) In your DNS management MMC, enable view/advanced features. Do you have folders containing SRV records for your DCs/GCs etc in your domain DNS zone?
Often people have misoconfigured DNS setups with AD, but don't know it because they have flat LANs and NetBIOS will resolve the names and domains via broadcast. Suddenly when they go to a routed network things stop working.
You should also have WINS configured on your network - install this service on your DNS servers, and configure all servers and clients to use the service. It's a common misonception that WINS isn't needed anymore - whilst Windows itself shouldn't need it, some applications (e.g. Outlook) require it for some functions.

Getting subscription fees from user. Implementing this?

I'm wondering what options are there and what would be the best option to handle receiving subscription payments from users of a business J2ME app?
I would like to have them charged to their phone bill.
If the user has been using the app for 6 months and they would like to renew their subscription how could you work it that they could be billed to their phone bill.
The option that I can see is that the user selects the renew subscription option and that the app then sends a premium sms to us and the network operator and they are then billed for a fee of say 5 euros?
Is this even possible and would a special arrangement need to be set up with each Network operator.
Also would a different version of the app need to be created for each operator used?
I.E. Vodaphone and Sprint and Telephonica etc.

I looked at the compnay your working with before and it seems you would know all about this kind of thing!
anyways it seems that using premium SMS is a real option.
This is how I see things working ( this is the view from somebody who has not implemented anything yet so if you can see a better way or another option please so shout).
User wants to renew there subscription for the client application.
1) User selects option to renew subscription.
2) Client communicates with server to determine what
network operator the user is using and the correct premium sms number is transmitted back to the client.
3) The client sends the sms to this number.
4) Network operator charges the user to their phone bill.
On confirmation of the receipt of the sms the clients app is enabled again for a period of time.
I think this should work?
Also is there anyway to find out what mobile network operator the user is on??
Is there a code you can query from the phone or something??

Not sure where to post this issue.
I am noticing this error since I did the Mac update. The Mac update included the java update. Right now the java version is 1.6.0_31. My Mac OS X version is 10.7.3. I am seeing the problem for all the soundfont files that I am trying to load. The error i get is.

No satisfactory progress!
I submitted a bug for this using the Apple bug reporter on 9th April (#11208868) and despite asking for an update, it has been completely ignored (even now). I'm not impressed.
I then issued a (paid for) Developer Technical Support issue which was credited back to my account a few days later with no explanation. When I asked why, I eventually got: "At this time DTS does not provide code-level support for Java"!
So, Apple are assuming to responsibility for this problem. I realise that Oracle is mostly responsible for Java but Apple took this crippled version (how much testing did they do?) and updated our customers' machines with it. This has effectively disabled a key feature of our product and has cost us damage to our company's reputation. Still Apple don't care and they rely on the fact that we are too small to sue them. You can see I'm not happy! I naively thought Apple would make some attempt to assist their developers.

Cannot view confirmations from users outside my cost center

Hi - After applying support packs we are unable to view confirmations created by users who are assigned a different cost center. I am only able to display confirmations of users who share my cost center.
Any advice on how I can display confirmations from users outside of my cost center?

Cannot restore backup from iCloud after rolling back from iOS 8

So, after trying iOS 8 on my iPhone 4s I decided there was too much lag to apps opening, etc.
I downloaded the iOS 7.1.2 firmware and got it back, after backing up to iCloud.
Now all I get - after trying probably 250 times over the past day - is 'Cannot restore backup' from any of the backups from the past three days.
Is it being blocked because iCloud recognises it as not being the latest iOS?
Any thoughts?

I have the same problem with an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1.1, I'm trying to restore my iPhone with a backup made with iCloud (when I made the backup 2 weeks ago I had the same iOS version, 5.1.1).

Cannot wake up from sleep after updating to Windows 8.1 - version T540p

I updated to Windows 8.1 on my ThinkPad T540p. Now if the laptop goes to sleep mode the laptop display does not wake up again. I have 2 extra dislpays connected to my computer through a dock. They work fine even though the display on the laptop does not show anything. If I restart the computer all 3 displays work fine. Can you please help me solve this.

We are very sorry to hear that the issue still persists, can you verify if the issue still persists when you disconnect the Laptop from docking station and connect any one of the external monitor and check it the sleep option is working.
And regarding the drivers update please try with manually updating the drivers from the following steps.
Download the graphics driver ZIP file.
Unzip the file to a designated location or folder.
Click Start.
Right-click Computer > Manage. When prompted for permission from User Account Control, click Yes.
Select Device Manager from the navigation tab on the left.
Double-click Display Adapters.
Right-click the Intel® Graphics Controller and click Update Driver Software.
Click Browse my computer for driver software.
Click Browse and select the directory where the driver files are located.
Click Next. Drivers are now being installed.
Reboot computer when prompted.

The SMTP server you are using with Wi-Fi would be the outgoing server of your internet service provider... this is likely why that's working.
SMTP servers specific to a ISP would not work on the 3G network. You would probably need another SMTP server. One from your cell provider?

Users cannot access calenders from outlook after migration to exchange 2013

I have a strange situation after upgrading to exchange 2013 some users are reporting that they cannot open or create calender appointments for calenders they used to be able to manage. we currently are using outlook 2010. also when the users access the calenders
with the webmail they are reporting that they can access the calenders and are able to do all the things they need to do.
i have tried reinstalling office and adding their exchange accounts but this does not help.
another stange thing is that to be sure i had setup the correct access policy i have reset all the security entries on all the calendars with the help of powershell. this seemed to have helped but after a couple of hours some users started reporting that they
could not access calendar items again!

Is there any error description when the problematic users cannot open or create calendar items? Since the issue only happens to some users instead of all users and all calendars can work well in OWA, I think the calendar in the mailbox
should be configured properly.
Please configure the problematic user’s Outlook account in a clean computer with new installed Outlook to check whether the issue persists.

Cannot delete file from disk after emailling that file like attachment

After i send some file from disk in Mail like attachment i cannot delete that file from disk unless i quit Mail. Like Mail is still using a file. Of course, that mail is in Sent mail, not in outbox.

This deeper than that. I created another account on the same iMac and it works in Harmony with my other devices and Documents in the cloud. I can only imagine the icloud account is somehow corrupted (I am on my macbook not iMac at the moment). There have been no updates to the Calendar, Contacts or Documents since early January on that account. I have spent 1hr on the phone with support and they were baffled as well. Only thing I can gove as insight to the problem is this, I was on the Mac Mini which was backed up on Time Machine. about 4 or 5 months ago I had to completley restore the Mac Mini becasue of the never ending circle on the load screen. The Backup failed to work it kept loading the issue and 4 or 5 times the circle of death kept coming up I would subsequently wipe the Mini and go further back in the back up until I go a copy that worked. I then loaded the Time Mache back up into my NEW iMac and wnet from there. It took about a month for this problem I am detailing above to start happening. It maybe a corrupt file loaded from the backup into the new iMac causing this problem. Best answer I can think of on my own???

Cannot email photos from iPhoto after upgrade to 10.8

After upgrading to 10.8, I have not been able to successfully eamil photos from iPhoto. I can select the photos, click the email icon, and have Mail open with the photos attached (as expected). But the send button is grayed out, and the newly created message window cannot be closed. To get rid of the unsendable email, I have to quit or force shut down Mail, then reopen Mail and manually delete the email from Drafts.
Has anyone else run into this issue?

As Larry suggested go into iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and make sure your email account information is correct. If you joined iCloud that is a must.

Cannot open file from Bridge after saving in Photoshop CS3

I was working on three images in Photoshop CS3, when I went to open them from Bridge for review, two of three files were reduced to tiny white squares with a dogear in the top right corner, a little blue bounding box containing three tinier red green and blue somethings so small I couldn't even see what they were with my jewellery spec.
Nothing happened when I clicked on them, no error message, nothing. I managed to get one of them in 'reveal' - which opened up a larger blue bounded box with the red button containing a cross with the message 'cannot open as not right kind of file'.
What to do please? I don't want to spend hours on an image and hope it will open afterwards. Thankyou.

Thankyou for taking the time to respond. I did notice that I'd forgotten to place a . after the file name and before the extension - ie soiphotopsd, instead of soiphoto.psd, and renamed them and the opened as psds. I would have thought that Photohop CS3 with all it's bells and whistles could have provided a helpful popup/error message to this effect when saving images though!
I still have an old file I haven't been able to open, the icon of which is simply a small blue and white box with the letters pmg on the bottom. I tried to rename the file same as, but nothing seemed to work so far. Will just keep plugin away - forgive the pun.

Cannot start Services from CMC after the migration of BOBJ from C to E driv

Hi ,
We recently upgraded our BOBJ environment from BOE XI 3.1 FP1.6 on C drive to BOE XI 3.1 FP2.2 to E drive. The installation is completed successfully but all the services from CMC are stopped. I cannot start them and upon checking the properties, the path is still pointing to C drive even though the tomcat settings are pointing to E drive. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.
The error message is as follows:

I saw something similiar once when using SAP authentication(you didn't mention which auth model you are using).
If the license you installed was a named user (vs. concurrent user) and you picked the opposite setting in the CMC Authentication section, then you won't be able to login.

I cannot download files from website after i upgrade to ios 5.o

I was trying to download a credit card statement from the company website but nothing happens when i click on download. I have tried doing this on multiple web sites so i know it is not the individual website. I am sure something was turned on when the upgrade was done but i am not sure what. I have tried rebooting the computer, but that did not work. Any suggestions on what to do? Could it be the pop-up blocker or the Kaspersky Antivirus?

When reading about the antivirus, I didn't equate that to the iPhone. Since antivirus software cannot run in the background on an iPhone, that isn't it and if pop-up blockers was enabled before I doubt that has anything to do with it either.

After this when i enter ovi and try to download WRT widgets on homescreen it says not available for your phone and i cannot view apps that i previously could. Did it delete some setings or how can i solve this problem? Or how can you restore original widgets?
