Cannot Download Package

Question

I am trying to install a couple packages on an Oracle Linux machine using the "yum" command. It goes from one mirror to the next, timing out on each one, and then ends with the error "No more mirrors to try." Here is an example of one of the commands I used:
# yum install yum-utils
I have been using Linux for less than a week, and this is the first time I have tried to download a package. Am I doing everything correctly? Is there anything else I can try, or do I need to wait a while and hope the servers come back up?

Dude, I will do as you suggest. But I first want to give you some new information I obtained in the last hour, and then I am off to a meeting and then I will come back here and do as you suggested.
From the Vista host machine, I am able to ping www.google.com, but I cannot do it from the VM guest machine.
Here are the results of a few commands done from the VM:
*$ ping www.google.com*
Ping: unknown host www.google.com
*$ host www.google.com*
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached
*$ nslookup google.com*
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached
I did those commands based on some information I read after doing searches on the web. I can tell that there is a problem, but I do not know how to proceed with correcting it. Some other topics I found are about the nsswitch.conf file, mdns4_minimal, DNS, poxy, and LDAP, all of which are completely foreign to me.
Here the contents of the file /etc/resolv.conf

Was this file generated when I ran the "host" command?  I am willing to try putting values in for DNS1 and DNS2, and some values for DOMAIN, like the file suggests, but I do not know what values to put in them.
