Cannot feed configuration files to lookupd started in interactive mode

The manual page of lookupd states that lookupd may be run in an interactive mode if started with the -d option.
It also says:
[BEGIN TERMINAL TRANSCRIPT]
This second copy of lookupd runs independently of the system's ``main''
lookupd and does not provide information to other programs running on
your system. This allows you to try queries and test configuration
options without disturbing normal operations. The second copy of lookupd
will attempt to read its configuration options from a NetInfo directory
named /locations/lookupd_debug (NetInfo) or /etc/lookupd_debug (files).
If they don't exist, it will try /locations/lookupd or /etc/lookupd.
[END TERMINAL TRANSCRIPT]
I created the 'global' configuration file in /etc/lookupd_debug/ but it seems that lookupd doesn't read it:

I think it should be something else when lookupd read its configuration from a file. Indeed, no log file is created into my home directory.
What am I missing?

    Hello,
    I have a problem loading up a project I have taken over from some one else. I need some guidance as I can't seem to find the solution. However im not that familiar with .NET or MVS as I once
    was. The message I get is as follows :-

  • Dreamweaver CS5 doesn't start, cannot find configuration file

    Dreamweaver Could not locate the Resource file in the Configuration folder. This file is required to run Dreamweaver. Please reinstall the application.
    Dreamweaver CS5 doesn't start due to the error message above.
    Found the configuration folder but on my roaming profile on the server, not on C drive.
    Note that I installed Dreamweaver on the second partition of the hard disk, not on C drive due to lack of space. Other Adobe CS5 software are running well such as Photoshop and InDesign.
    I have tried to delete (after backup) the Configuration folder, as I read on this forum that it should be automatically recreated, but no success. Tried to copy the Configuration folder (in fact the entire Adobe folder) to the user profile on C drive, but no success.
    On this PC, no previous version of Dreamweaver has been installed. However, I have used older versions on different computers, and there are in the Adobe folder on my roaming profile traces of CS4 and CS6.
    Could you please advise?

    Not sure which thread you have read on this forum but I suggest read this official document and then see if resolves any lingering problems.

  • I cannot open Firefox as I get the message that Firefox failed to read configuration file. I uninstalled and reinstalled latest version and still cannot open with the same error.

    Last week when the automated upgrade came I said yes and then stopped it midway as it was not a good time to reboot my laptop. Since then, when I try to open it says cannot read configuration file - even when I uninstall and reinstall - still cannot open it with the same error.

    Do a clean (re-)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
    Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Cannot edit sudoers file in single user mode.

    I did not back up my sudoers file on my pro.
    I made a change to it, adding my "test" user to be able to use sudo, but upon restarting, it didn't work, and I cannot edit the file via cd in single user mode.
    I mounted the drive, changed permissions, but it seems that I don't have the option to use vi, visudo, vim.
    Thanks for the help.

    I mounted the hdd using the command below.
    I then made sure I could get to the file by cd to it.
    Then once I was there, i would attempt to type vis <tab> to complete, and visudo does not show up. Typed in visudo, nothing. This was on a brand new mb pro. I can wipe it out, but I would rather figure out why its not working.
    The reason for all this is I have to give it to a user at my job. We don't want them to have admin rights to install anything they want, but they need to use sudo in X11 for compiling and such. I read online that I can edit/add their username to the sudoers file, and allow them the right to sudo for compiling, starting apache on their laptops, etc.
    Thanks.

  • [solved] vim starting in command mode?

    I've been banging my head with this for a while, and my google-fu is failing me. Sometime not long ago, my vim installation started doing something strange: when I open it, or open a file, rather than starting in normal mode, it starts in command mode with various commands loaded in-- most often I see :1R. It's an annoyance, since I only have to clear it out and I'm back to normal mode, but since I use it so frequently I'd like to fix it.
    I haven't changed my .vimrc in a long while, and looking at it I verified there's nothing strange happening there. I have no plugins, no .vim directory at all.
    Has this ever happened to anyone, and do you have any suggestions about fixing it?

    Ok, I've been able to isolate where the problem is, and it's not actually in Arch. Mostly I use my Arch box remotely, and I've been connecting to it through the Bitvise Tunnelier ssh client. If I'm on the direct terminal, or ssh'd in through PuTTY, the problem doesn't occur, so it looks to be a bug in the Bitvise software. I'll have to take it up with them. Thanks for the help; I still welcome other suggestions if you have them!

  • Was advised to delete system configuration file from hard drive and now computer will not start - any help would be appreciated.

    Downloaded Yosemite and since then cannot connect to internet or bluetooth mouse - was advised to delete system configuration file from the hard drive and since then cannot start up computer. Any help would be appreciated - cheers.

    Boot the MBP with the OPTION+COMMAND+R keys down.  The result should be a display showing a revolving globe.  By following the instructions, you will be able to reinstall the original OSX.  Then you may reinstall Yosemite.
    A solid Internet connection will be required.

  • Cannot save configuration for zone files

    I'm migrating from 10.3 to 10.4.9. The 10.4.9 system is on a new hard drive so it is a fresh install. I have no problem setting up the BIND config manually from the command line but I like to use Server Admin to start and stop the server. When I noticed I was having problems resolving my servers domain/subdomains, I used Server Admin to take a look at what was going on.
    The problem I seem to be encountering is that Server Admin shows that the zones exist but it does not display any of the zone data in the window to the right of the zone list. I did a quick check on the zone files and found them to be configured correctly. When I tried to edit and then save the configuration using the Server Admin GUI I receive an error telling me that the zone had no name and that the configuration could not be saved.
    Just to test things out a little bit, I dragged the DNS configuration file from the 10.3 config from the Server Admin Applition, rebooted the system back into 10.4, and dropped that configuration back onto the application window. After this process I can see the zone data in the right hand window but when I click the save button I receive the same error.
    My only reference for 10.4 is the Apple Training Series: Mac OS X Server Essentials which describes the Server Admin GUI for the DNS functions and the associated files in a manner that I am familiar with but which are significantly different then what is actually appearing in the Server Admin application for 10.4.9.
    Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong?
    Thanks
    XServe G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Unfortunately, there are a number of flaws with the Server Admin DNS tool that absolutely require you to modify the files manual. For instance, you cannot properly set up MX records is the zone you are working on is NOT responsible for the mail server. In other words, you can't set up MX records. Also, the name server text fields are bugged in a way that makes it extremely difficult to add more then one name server. The tool is useless until these problems are fixed.
    Basically, as you said, I used the dns tool to set up the files, then edited them manually in order to get them into a functional state. I just have to make sure that I don't ever use the tool to edit the configuration as it will blow away any changes that were made manually.
    FYI The Server Admin web tool for Apache is also just as annoying, deleting data that has been added manually.

    hello, the error message is obviously coming from one of the installed mcafee extensions. please directly contact mcafee technical support - they can likely give you more detailed guidance and are the only ones who can fix bugs or make necessary adjustments in the addon.

    Hi all,
    i have a ear application containing a web app and a bc4j module deployed on the embedded oc4j instance inside JDeveloper 10.1.2 (build 1929). Any ideas?
    Suggestion?

    This program is an example of basically what ADFBC will be trying to do to open/parse the bc4j.xcfg file. Can you incorporate the same lines into your test program to see if it also behaves the same in your JMS-initiated Java class ?
    Of course, you'll need to substitute "sample/common/bc4j.xcfg" with your relevant path name.
    package sample;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import oracle.xml.parser.v2.DOMParser;
    import oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLDocument;
    import oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLParseException;
    import org.xml.sax.SAXException;
    public class Class1 {
      public static void main(String[] args) throws XMLParseException,
                                                      SAXException, IOException {
        DOMParser d = new DOMParser();
       d.parse(Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResource("sample/common/bc4j.xcfg"));
        XMLDocument doc = d.getDocument();
        doc.print(System.out);

    Where is the code you posted? Running in a separate project, I assume? Does that project have a dependency on the project containing the app module specified?
    And just to check (although by default, JDev should do this for you)--the app module project has been compiled since adding the configuration, right? You need to check to make sure the config exists not only under Project/src, but under Project/classes.

    Oh, and BTW--I assume this is not a typical ADF application, right? In a standard ADF application, you would very rarely need to instantiate an application module in code like this; you could just let the data binding facility do it for you. The technique like the one you're using is most appropriate for purely programmatic, no-UI cases. (e.g., once I tried to implement an SMTP server backed by business components. That was an appropriate case for ditching databindings and doing the sort of thing you're doing, because it had no view layer (because it had no UI to render).
