Cannot find mixers in java

I am trying to find the mixers on the system using Mixer.Info[] mixerInfo = AudioSystem.getMixerInfo(); but nothing is showing up in the array so I have no mixers available. I am on a Linux system and I can use input and output fine through an OSS mixer on the system, I just can't figure out how to access it. Any ideas?

I am using a xml to deploy my application , it reads
<Context docBase="C:\Data\AjitWorkspace\console\~build\console" path="/console" reloadable="true">
I check the class files under the ~build\console\WEB-INF\classes and it shows me the latest class file with the correct query in it.

After upgrade to JHS Production: cannot find two standard java Classes

Hi, First: congratulations on the Production release. Great that it is there.
After making several backups, I have upgraded to JHS build 91 Production release (I came from JHS build 78).
1. after upgrade to JHS Production, I tested my application first (so before re-enabling Jheadstart on the ViewController and regenerating pages). The application still worked fine
2. I re-enabled JHeadstart on the VC project
3. I opened my Applictation Definition Files and saved them (I noticed a deprecated property OverwriteUiModel that disappeared after saving)
4. I ran the generator on my three App. Def. Files.
5. I rebuild the whole application
6. I ran the application, the first (Table-style) page comes up fine
7. But when clicking on one of the records in the Table to navigate to the Form page...the Embedded OC4J exits with a fatal error:
Fatal error: Cannot find class java/lang/StackOverflowError
Fatal error: Cannot find class java/lang/NullPointerException

I have the (ugly) feeling that I am facing the problem mentioned in http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=1211326? : it looks like when a JSPX page gets too complex, the Embedded OC4J raises this StackOverFlow class notfound error :-(. Probably the (it only hits me when navigating to the most complex page) generated page generated with build 78 was fine, but the generated page after build 91 has become too complex, allthough nothing changed in between. What I can see from the difference between the before and after build 91 situation for all pages, is that you have added the <id=...> arguments to all ADF elements, like [id="PersonsSaveButton"] in:

I noticed people asking if there is a kind of 'maximum' on how complex a page can get before this error situation happens. No answer on that found (you do not want to know there is a maximum anyway).
The specific page is a master with 5 stacked detail regions and three "use as LOV" groups. Further on about 30 domains are used...
And the page has not finished yet, it will get more "complex" that this. I hope someone knows a good solution so that I can continue to use the Embedded OC4J for testing, otherwise developing wil get very time consuming if I have to deploy to AS every time...something I cannot afford since the project deadline is getting nearer and nearer.

Cannot find DLL - URGENT

Hello All,
This is a really urgent question. Please answer as soon as possible.
I bought a DLL from a software vendor. Lets call that DLL as "A". Knowing that i cannot access that DLL directly with Java, I created my own DLL which is acting as a bridge between my java application and DLL A. Lets call this DLL as B.
I tried both these DLLs with a standalone application and it worked fine. So now the scenarion is that there is a class, lets call it C, it calls methods from DLL B and DLL B in turn calls methods from DLL A.
Now I want to use this class C with a Servlet. The problem, as it looks to me, is that when used with the servlet class C finds DLL B, but DLL B is unable to find DLL A.
I am saying this because initially i got the error saying "Cannot find B in java.library.path". I specified the path of DLL B in path variable of Windows (I am using Windows XP) after whcih the next error is something like it cannot find the method. I am copying a portion of exception below:

I totaly agree with bschauwe. I also spend several hours of searching in the past for UnSatisfiedLinkError's.
Always mention the complete package (if you use packages and you should) in your javah -jni statement when you try to create your C-header file. This was in most cases the problem I ran into.
What you also could do is not use System.loadLibrary("<yourDLL>"); but replace it with the System.load("<full path to your DLL>"); to point to your DLL.

Jni findclass cannot find my own classes with jre1.4

I have a C++ program that uses CreateJavaVM() and FindClass() to access my own Java classes. Everything works as expected. Another C++ program uses
GetCreatedJavaVMs() (returns 1)
AttachCurrentThread()
FindClass()
to try to access other Java classes of my own. The GetCreatedJavaVMs() and AttachCurrentThread() seem to work fine but the FindClass() cannot find my own Java classes anymore.
Shouldn't the VM and associated JNIEnv from GetCreatedJavaVMs be the same as that created using CreateJavVM() and thus be able to find the same classes? By the way, this worked fine with jre1.2 but stopped working when trying to move to jre1.4. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Windows XP Pro cannot find "Javc" in my folder

I've done an excerise of HelloWorldApp.java.
When i tried to complie it in MS-DOS. It said cannot find javc the java complier in my folder
Could anyone help me with this problem plz

what you are looking for is "javac.exe". It is in the bin folder of your java installation directory. You should ideally set the PATH variable to point to your bin directory.
Or you could just run c:\jdk1.4.2\bin\javac HelloWorldApp.java where jdk1.4.2 corresponds to your java folder.

I got maven 221 installed
i got jdk 1.6 and 1.5 installed (have tested both)
I have a strange error. All my co-workers can build but I cant. The only thing I can find is that I dont have installed BEA Weblogic but I dont want to have that installed. It should be able to run anyway.

from my experience, using weblogic jars can be a pain if the full install is not on the local box.
Note that you dont have to 'install' it. Just copy the directory.
Reason is that the jar files have manifests with relative classpaths.
For an example of horror take a look at the weblogic.jar MANIFEST's classpath entry.

"system cannot find the file specified" when launching a java app

Hi,
we are receiving an error message saying "The system cannot find the file specified" when launching a java app on a server. Exactly the same configuration on another server does not give the same problem.
The dialog box with the error message only presents one button - OK - and after pressing the button the app continues to run normally. This however is a big problem for us as we are trying to convert the apps into system services using the wrapper (http://wrapper.tanukisoftware.org).
Note: the problem exibits itself with and without the use of the wrapper.
I am not very comfortable about reinstalling the JRE on a production server. Is there any way to see what file it is missing? Debug options or something similar?
The JRE in question is 1.4.2_06. Many thanks in advance for your answers.

if not setting Post-Processing option results in a cryptic error why doesn't Adobe do one of at least three things?
1. Don't let user click Export on Export dialog if nothing's selected for Post-Processing.
2. Default Post-Processing to Do Nothing
3. Give the user a hint as to what the problem is when the error occurs instead of issuing cryptic error message.
Allowing this error to persist for so long is ridiculous.

Java Studio Enterprise 8.1 and jdk1.6 - cannot find symbol

Hi,
I am using subj. The problem I have is that I declared 2-3 classes with methods in one package. I made an object of the class and use intellisense to navigate to the method I need but when I try to compile the code I have "cannot find symbol" error on the method I intellisensed to. It seems to me that it is IDE problem.
Does anyone know how to work around it?

Thanks for that Kris.
I found the root of my problem. In this example I used a remote webservice to retrieve some data. It happened to be that the generated class file from wsdl and my custom class had the same name.
So, instead of reporting as ambiguous definition error the ide picked up the wrong class and did not find the method I intended to use.
Hopefully it will help someone else having the same problem.

This isn't a JSP question, it better belongs in the JavaProgramming, or JDBC forums.
But the problem is because the updateDate method uses a java.sql.Date object and you are giving it a java.util.Date object. You have to convert from java.util.Date to java.sql.Date. See: [the api for java.sql.Date|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/sql/Date.html] .

No indication what you try to do, no information about your environment either.
What I see is that the URL you use to start the app (if it is an app) has a suffix '.jspx' in it. This is normally not the case for Fusion Web apps. And the 'faces' part of the url is missing. So try http://127.0.0.1:7101/service_method_app-ViewController-context-root/faces/servicemethodTimo

Having not seen this before, I assume that the issue is that the command line string is too long when Javac is invoked.
Here are a few things to reduce the size of the command line:
- do not use the CLASSPATH option, but set the CLASSPATH environment variable (you can to that in a .bat file)
- do not provide the .java files but rely on the implicit make capability in both, the SQLJ translator and the Java compiler. (Note: you must mention all of the .sqlj files that your program requires, do not rely on implicit make to find all of those.)
- you can perform the -ser2class conversion as a separate step (see the SQLJ FAQ), as well as the Java compilation
- there may or may not be a facility in your operating system to increase the size of the environment (and this may or may not have an effect on the maximum command line length)
- you could try to omit the -passes option and see if that helps (that may actually be where your invocation if failing in the first place, in that it cannot write to some temporary file).
