    Hi gnaksung,
Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
It seems like you're trying to update iTunes 10 on your Mac, but the update options are not working.
You may find the troubleshooting tips and download method in this article helpful with updating iTunes:

If you're currently using OS X 10.6.8, see this link for the iTunes 11.4 download, which is the latest version that can be installed:

  • I cannot get Itunes to update my IPod.  I am at a loss

I am a seasoned IPod user. I just transitioned to a new PC and cannot get Itunes to update my Nano IPod. I have downloaded new versions of ITunes and updated my IPod software. ITunes sees the IPod but does not transfer any songs or playlists---help

What the user before me is trying to say pretty quickly is, Be sure that the settings in iTunes are set to update your iPod.
    1) Plug in your ipod
    2) Click the button with the ipod on it, about fourth from the right at the bottom (bottom right corner)
    3) Manual (choice 3) is probably selected, Select automatically update all songs instead (choice 1).
Does this help? If not, let me know.

  • Cannot get itunes+quicktime update to install

The main problem is quicktime because everytime i try to install it, it keeps telling me that it cant find my F:\ drive. i don't have one and i never did. anytime i plug in a external drive it reads as an H:\ or an I:\. i tried uninstall the quicktime i had right now and install the new one it still wouldnt work. and now the quicktime is gone i cant even get on itunes.

    Excellent news.
im not going to have to plug in this drive every time i need to update, am i?
(Short answer) You should be fine next time.
(Long answer) The issue happens because there's an entry for the existing version of iTunes in the installation database (for an iTunes file or registry entry) that references the drive that isn't there, and the fact that there's no drive there causes the Windows Installer Service to get excessively confused. But when we put the drive there and do the update, that gets rid of the mucked-up entries in the database. So the next time you do an update, fingers crossed none of the new entries in the database should be pointing at the F, and there shouldn't be any issues on the next install if the F doesn't happen to be there.

Thanks for your reply. My Mac is running 10.5.8: it's 4 years old.  When I try to update the OS software, I'm told there are none available.
Be careful - there's a difference between update and upgrade.  Your machine is saying there are no updates available, meaning no later versions of OS X 10.5 (Leopard).  However, you can very likely upgrade - at least to OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), and possibly then to OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion).
Updates are free, but upgrades cost a bit.  That's the dirference.

  • What happened is that my internet connection was not good so i downloaded .ipsw file from a torrent but now i cannot get it to update my ipad because ios 5.0.1 is out i tried copying files to ipad updates in the itunes folder but no help

what happened is that my internet connection was not good so i downloaded .ipsw file from a torrent but now i cannot get it to update my ipad because ios 5.0.1 is out i tried copying files to ipad updates in the itunes folder but it still asked me to download a 700mb software update
    plz help

If you downloaded the correct version for your iPad model (and the different models have different ipsw files), then you should be able to navigate to it in iTunes by pressing and holding the shift key on Windows (command key on Mac) when clicking the Check For Updates button.

  • Installed latest update and now i cannot get itunes to load

installed latest update and now i cannot get itunes to load

I was having major problems too. I ended up completely uninstalling itunes then downloaded it again from http://www.apple.com/itunes/.   If you're using firefox, for some reason itunes will not download and  I  don't know if using googlechrome will also have problems,so just to  be  sure that it will work on your first try, use internet  explorer  when you download itunes. Hope this helps...

  • We own 5 Apple devices but for some reason I cannot get iTunes to recognize one of the iPads.  The other 4 show up just fine and we can sync and do all the stuff we are supposed to do, but this one device is never recognized.  Tried everything.  Help!

We own 5 Apple devices but for some reason I cannot get iTunes to recognize one of the iPads.  The other 4 show up just fine and we can sync and do all the stuff we are supposed to do, but this one device is never recognized.  I've tried updating the software, reinstalling iTunes, using different ports on the laptop, different cables...just about everything.  I have NEVER been able to connect this one device, but all the others are fine.  I'm at my wits end.  Is there someone out there who can help a relative novice figure out what's going on?  Thanks so much!

Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the recognition troubles?

  • Cannot get Itunes 10 to download to macbook 10.6.8

I cannot get Itunes 10 to download on my macbook 10.6.8. when I check for updates via itunes it tells me that there is a new version and when I go to download it my computer tells me all software is up to date. I cannot sync my iphone or ipad

With that one, I'd try updating using a .dmg installer downloaded from the Apple Website:

Try b noir's post  Standalone Apple Application Support install to see if that can repair the problem or provide futher information, otherwise try reinstalling again as shown in Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

  • Cannot get iTunes 12.0 to install with OS 10.10

i have 2009 iMac with 4GB memory 3.06ghz intel core 2 duo.  i have updated OS to Yosemite two day ago.  i cannot get iTunes 12 to install.  the dmg downloads and i go through the process of installation and get the install completed successfully.  cannot find iTunes anywhere on computer   i have tried restarting after install and still no iTunes

You can find iTunes in three places:
In the Dock, between FaceTime and iBooks icons.
In Launchpad: open it and you will find the iTunes icon.
In Finder: open a Finder window, choose Applications in the sidebar and open iTunes.
Note that iTunes may show up with the old icon the first time you open it, but it will be updated. Note that the latest iTunes version is 12.0.1, so if you do not have this version, open the Mac App Store, go to Updates and install the most recent version

  • Cannot get itunes to download

    cannot get itunes to download

This fix does not work for me because there is no apple software update to repair because an earlier fix said to uninstall it and all the other apple componants before reinstalling. I also can not reinstall at all now. There are heaps of people with the same problem. When I try to reinstall itunes it goes part way and then I get the same error message "there is a problem with the windows installer package". Why all of a sudden is this happening after years of using itunes?
