Cannot load Faces Context

Hi All,
I deployed a jsf application's .ear file in WebSphere Application Server 5.0 and below are the configurations done in
web.xml for this jsf application.
<servlet id="Servlet_1097643234125">
<servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
<servlet-class>javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet</servlet-class>
<load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
</servlet>
<servlet-mapping id="ServletMapping_1097643265422">
<servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/faces/*</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
<servlet-mapping id="ServletMapping_1097643265423">
<servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>*.jsf</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
<servlet-mapping id="ServletMapping_1097643265424">
<servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>*.faces</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
Now if I access the application using URL http://localhost:9080/forms/vendor/can/legal.faces then I am getting "Error 500: Failed to load target servlet [Faces Servlet] "
even though there are jsf-api.jar and jsf-impl.jar in the WEB-INF\lib directory of this application.
Can you please tell me what am I missing here ...
Thanks & Regards,
Kumar.

Your jsp is not under the Faces Servlet mapping
<servlet-mapping id="ServletMapping_1097643265423">
<servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>*.jsf</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
.jsf and not .faces

    Hi there lmorris46012,
    It sounds like you have already done some troubleshooting steps, but you may still have a few things to try. The article below outlines some additional troubleshooting steps for FaceTime and iMessage activation issues. I would recommend perfoming each step in the order listed.

  • Navigation issue using jsf, tiles, tomahawk  :loosing faces context

    Hi all,
    I enhanced my webapp using tomahawks jscookmenu.
    Triggering 1 menuItem the wanted pages displays correctly but the next click anywhere in the application shows this error:
    org.apache.jasper.JasperException: javax.faces.FacesException: Faces context not found. getResponseWriter will fail. Check if the FacesServlet has been initialized at all in your web.xml configuration fileand if you are accessing your jsf-pages through the correct mapping. E.g.: if your FacesServlet is mapped to  *.jsf (with the <servlet-mapping>-element), you need to access your pages as 'sample.jsf'. If you tried to access 'sample.jsp', you'd get this error-message.The web config is like that:

    </web-app>So I lost the faces context using the jscookmenu, I believe.
    My webapp uses tiles, and there is 2 navigation possibilities: tomahawaks jscookmenu and tomahawaks commandNavigation.
    Latter one runs ok, I do use
    <t:panelNavigation id="nav" styleClass="navigation"
         itemClass="navitem" separatorClass="navseparator"
         activeItemClass="navitem_active" openItemClass="navitem_open">
         <t:commandNavigation action="#{newsHandler.userRequest}" value="#{newsHandler.rss_source_name[0]}">
              <f:param name="navigator"  value="/jsf/news.jsp" />
         </t:commandNavigation>
    </t:panelNavigation>for this kind of navigation I do not use any navigation rules in faces config. To dynamically include the desired faces page I do that:
    <%
         String s = (String)request.getParameter("navigator");
         if (s == null || s.length() == 0 ) {
              s =  "/jsf/explorer.jsp";
    %>
    <jsp:include page="<%=s %>" />That does work.
    Now like I said I did enhance the app by adding tomahawks jscookmenu.
    Therefore I use the following in another tile:
    <t:jscookMenu layout="hbr" theme="ThemeOffice" styleLocation="resources/css">
              <%/* Availaible jscookMenu themes: ThemeIE, ThemeMiniBlack, ThemeOffice, ThemePanel
                 Availaible jscookMenu layout: hbr, hbl, hur, hul, vbr, vbl, vur, vul
                 respect to Heng Yuan http://www.cs.ucla.edu/~heng/JSCookMenu
            */%>
      <t:navigationMenuItem id="nav_0" itemLabel="#{localz.Xplorer}" action="Xplorer" />
    </t:jscookMenu>For this kind of navigation I tried to use navigation rules and the following show the config:
         <navigation-rule>
           <from-view-id>/jsf/*</from-view-id>
            <navigation-case>
                <from-outcome>Xplorer</from-outcome>
                <to-view-id>/jsf/tileMain.jsp?navigator=/jsf/explorer.jsp</to-view-id>
            </navigation-case>
            <navigation-case>
                <from-outcome>Tabs</from-outcome>
                <to-view-id>/jsf/tileMain.jsp?navigator=/jsf/tab.jsp</to-view-id>
            </navigation-case>
         </navigation-rule>That works for the first click. The desired page is shown. The nect click anywhere in the app then show the mentioned error.
    Using tiles I use this view-handler
    <view-handler>org.apache.myfaces.tomahawk.application.jsp.JspTilesViewHandlerImpl</view-handler>One question is: can I use another view-handler on top of the above one? So I could extend com.sun.facelets.FaceletViewHandler and try my luck with this? Or is the solution pointed out just a millisecond from being ok, I just dont see it?
    Maybe you need to know a bit more on how I use tiles:
    That is the page I start with. It inserts the tile shown underneath.
    <f:view locale="#{userLocale}">
         <f:loadBundle var="localz" basename="my.com.xplorer.gui.v.Lokalization" />
         <f:loadBundle var="bundle" basename="my.com.xplorer.gui.v.messages" />
         <f:subview id="tileMain">
              <h:form id="myJsfForm" styleClass="standard">
                        <tiles:insert definition="template" flush="false" />
              </h:form>
         </f:subview>
         <h:messages />
    </f:view>
    </html>The foolowing is the tile structure.
    The bodi tile is the dynamic part. Above you see that I dynamically load the pages into it.
    <t:htmlTag value="div" styleClass="pageLayout">
         <h:panelGrid columns="2" align="center" styleClass="pageContent">
              <f:facet name="header">

    There seems to be a sort of gap regarding jsf navigation documentation.
    I mean the ordinary way is covered everywhere (the book I have covers that too), but jscookmenu seems not to fit in too good. I also tried it with an actionslistener in the jscookmenu but that failed, too. So a link to documents telling the truth on jsf navigation I would appreciate very much.

  • Error "cannot load request real time data targets" for new cube in BI 7.

    Hi All,
    WE have recently upgarded our SCM system from 4.1 to SCM 7.0 which incorporated BI 7.0.
    I am using BI 7.0 for first time and ahve the following issue:
    I ceated a new infocube and data source of flat file and succesfully created transformation, and Data Transfer Process. Everything looked fine. I added flat file and checked preview and could see data. Now when I start job to load data in infocube the follwing error is shown "cannot load request real time data targets".
    I checked cube type in setting in infcune is shows as Standard.  When I doube clicked on error the following message showed up
    You are trying to load data into a real-time InfoCube using a DTP.
    This is only possible if the correct load settings have been defined for the InfoCube.
    Procedure
    In the object tree of the Data Warehousing Workbench, call Load Behavior of Real-Time InfoCube from the context menu of the InfoCube. Switch load behavior to Transactional InfoCube can be loaded; planning not allowed.
    I did not understand what it is meant and how to set changes. Can someone advice and follow me through.
    Thanks
    KV

    Hi Kverma,
    Real-time InfoCubes can be filled with data using two different methods: using the transaction for entering planning data, and using BI staging, whereby planning data cannot be loaded simultaneously. With Real time cube you can select the method you want to use for update as
    Real Time data Target can be loaded With Data; Planning not allowed &
    Real Time data Target can be Planned; Data loading not allowed
    You can change this behaviour by right clicking on cube and selecting Change real time load behaviour and select first option. You will be able to load the data then

    The FacesContext is created by FacesServlet which is
    definied in the web.xml with an url-pattern.
    If you just follow the url-pattern of this
    FacesServlet, usually /faces/ or *.faces, or *.jsf,
    then the FacesContext will be created.Hi balu,

  • Java.sql.SQLException: Cannot load JDBC driver

    THis topic has been discussed many many times but I still not able to connect to Oracle 8i from my servlet using Tomcat 4.1.12 on hp-ux and java1.3
    I always got: java.sql.SQLException: Cannot load JDBC driver class 'null'
    In server.xml:
    <Context Path="/MyApp" docBase="MyApp" debug="0" reloadable="true" >

    In MyApp/WEB-INF/web.xml:

    The Oracle jdbc jar file classes12.jar is under common/lib in Tomcat's home. read Permission is there.
    In the servlet:
    init(ServletConfig config):
    Context init = new InitialContext();
    Context ctx = (Context) init.lookup("java:comp/env");
    dataSource = (DataSource) ctx.lookup("jdbc/acdb");
    doPost(..)
    the error occured at :
    synchronized (dataSource){
    con = dataSource.getConnection();}
    Thanks in advance!

    Everything looks correct to me, except for one thing.
    In your web.xml you have this:
    <res-ref-name>jdbc/ora</res-ref-name> In your server.xml, you have this tag, which matches your web.xml:
    <ResourceParams name="jdbc/ora" > But in your Java code, you've got this:
    dataSource = (DataSource) ctx.lookup("jdbc/acdb"); When I've successfully set up a Web app data source, all three names had to agree. You either need to change your Java lookup name to "jdbc/ora" or change the web.xml and server.xml to "jdbc/acdb".
    See if that does it. Everything else sounds correct to me. - MOD

  • Cannot load the bookstore servlet

    I am going through the bookstore tutorial of J2EE 1.4 final version, all the steps are fine, and finally I try to load the servlet with http://localhost:8080/bookstore1/bookstore, it says:
    HTTP Status 404 - /bookstore1/bookstore
    type Status report
    message /bookstore1/bookstore
    description The requested resource (/bookstore1/bookstore) is not available.
    I am pretty sure I followed all the instructions, I checked everything, aliases in the Deploytool, etc. and from the Server admin console, I could see the bookstore1 is deployed with other applications, but why it doesn't work.
    checking the server.log file, I found the foolowing:

    The only thing strange is that "Real JNDI name cannot be empty for jdbc/BookDB", when I set resourse refs tag, I did enter the sun-specific settings, but and I save the file, the infomation of jdbc/BookDB is lost.
    hope someone could show me the reason.

    since in the server.log file, it complains the following:
    [#|2003-11-28T20:56:39.359-0500|SEVERE|j2ee-appserver1.4|javax.enterprise.system.container.web|_ThreadID=11;|WEB0117: Error loading web module [bookstore1] in virtual server [server]: javax.naming.InvalidNameException: Real JNDI name cannot be empty for jdbc/BookDB|#]
    I believe the problem is from the JNDI name, therefore it cannot load the web module [bookstore1], I check the sun-web.xml file:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE sun-web-app PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Sun ONE Application Server 8.0 Servlet 2.4//EN" "http://www.sun.com/software/sunone/appserver/dtds/sun-web-app_2_4-0.dtd">

    <jndi-name>jdbc/BookDB</jndi-name>
    </resource-ref>
    </sun-web-app>
    this jdbc/BookDB is defined by using the admin console, and the actual table name is BOOKS, which could be seen by the PointBase console, under SCHEMAS->PBPUBLIC->TABLES nodes. But how this jdbc/BookDB is mapped to the table BOOKS, the tutorial doesn't say. I doubt if this is the problem?

    here is the web.xml file
    ``````````````````````````````````
    <resource-ref>
    <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
    <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>
    is this configuration correct? plz help me about the configuration and coding through Eclipse.
  • Cannot load backup (due to changed Apple ID/updated email address)
    I have followed the answer provided to Ross202 by Gail from Maine. Unfortunately I fear my problem may be larger.
    Objective
    Move iCloud-backed up data to new iPhone (old phone "drowned" over holidays)
    Context
    My original Apple ID was EmailOld. This email address (EmailOld) has been terminated. Unfortunately my iCloud / backup is linked to Apple ID EmailOld (so verifying this is not possible). My new AppleID is EmailNew, and this has been verified. I have tried changing my Apple profile to EmailOld, as suggested by Gail (without the verification email).
    Despite following Gail's steps, Apple could not backup my old account. Error message:
    "Cannot load backups. There was a problem loading your iCloud Backups. Try again, set up as a new iPhone, or restore from an iTunes backup.
    Options
    - Try again (*)
    - Set up as a new iPhone (**)
    - Restore from iTunes (***)"
    Troubleshooting steps
    (*) Try again repeats same issue.
    Apple ID EmailOld: "iCloud Sign in" --> Agree --> "It may take a few minutes to set up your Apple ID" --> Choose backup screen --> takes an age --> above message repeated
    AppleID EmailNew: (Update AppleID to EmailNew in My Apple ID) "iCloud Sign in" --> Agree --> "It may take a few minutes to set up your Apple ID" --> "Choose backup" screen, with options --> selection of backups --> but then I either 1) have to enter correct password corresponding with EmailOld (and EmailOld and current password don't match), or 2) get error message above
    (**) Set up as a new iPhone (using:
    (a) old Apple ID says --> "Could Not Sign In | There was a problem connecting to the server". I have reviewed and checked wifi connection, all in order here. I have tried using new account, same error message,
    (b) new Apple ID works. And this is hopeful - the device can detect I have about 10GB data stored on iCloud. However, I cannot agitate this sync from iCloud to my new device
    (***) I have logged in to iTunes with Apple ID EmailOld (it works - it even says 17 updates on my apps, however I can't agitate updates). I cannot get a sync going.
    My phone requests me to "Connect to iTunes", but I cannot do anything more than this. (I have unplugged and plugged my USB cable many times)
    I have also logged in to iTunes with Apple ID EmailNew (it works too). But, again, I cannot connect to iTunes
    Possible solutions
    Recognition of 10GB iCloud-backed up data on new device (despite the fact that old Apple ID doesn't match new Apple ID)
    Any help will be greatly appreciated! 5 hours and counting :/
    Thanking the community in advance
    Call Apple Care for your country and request help reactivating the Apple ID and resetting the password.
    My apologies for the poor layout, it's WebLogic's server log.
    Any pointers were this may be going wrong? Why is it unable to load the Faces class? The domain was create using the template so it should have all required libraries.
    Alright, I've narrowed it down to my Customization Class. I attempted to have my customization class PortalCC in a JAR file, excluded it from the WAR file and added the JAR in the lib directory of the EAR file, as described on:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/web.1111/e16272/deploy_java_ee_app.htm#CHDGGFEB
  • Over-riding the class javax.faces.context.FacesContext: SUN App Server 9.1
    The method to over ride the faces context has changed between SUN Application Server 8.2 and 9.1, as a result the instructions which were previously provided on the MyFaces wiki (http://wiki.apache.org/myfaces/Installation_and_Configuration) no longer work. What I am looking for is instructions that will allow me to use our own faces jars and not (javaee.jar) which is provided as part of the application server.
    What I need to do is to get Sun Application Server 9.1 to allow me to over ride the faces context /javax/faces/context/ with that from my local jars, in version 8.X the following steps were enough:
    Start 8.X instructions:
    1. Change the config security file so that MyFaces <http://wiki.apache.org/myfaces/MyFaces> can delete it's temporary files.
    Change permission
        java.io.FilePermission <http://wiki.apache.org/myfaces/FilePermission> "<<ALL FILES>>", "read,write";to
      java.io.FilePermission <http://wiki.apache.org/myfaces/FilePermission> "<<ALL FILES>>", "read,write,delete";2. Prevent the sun reference implementation from being used
    In your WEB-INF, create a sun-web.xml file containing
        <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
        <sun-web-app>
        <class-loader delegate="false"/>
        </sun-web-app>3. That way, myfaces classes will be loaded instead of Sun RI ones.
    And prevent MyFaces <http://wiki.apache.org/myfaces/MyFaces> from loading the Sun RI context listener
    By creating in your webapp a "fake"
    com.sun.faces.config.ConfigureListener
    <http://wiki.apache.org/myfaces/ConfigureListener> that will be loaded BEFORE the sun RI one's.
    The war file I am making available as a test case has just such a file in my case it is called fakefaces.jar
    End instructions for 8.2
    However these steps have changed for version 9.1 as following the exact same procedures does not result in the Application Server using the correct jars, the following is a test using a simple find.jsp, notice how Application Server 9.1 is still using the default jars and not the ones shipping with included as part of my testApp.
    Within the war file is a jsp called find.jsp using this I can check which jar file file is being used for any class in my case I'm interested in the the /javax/faces/context/FacesContext.class, in 9.1 it always uses teh copy from javaee.jar and never teh local copy:
    For example running: http://<ip address>:<port>/test/find.jsp?class=javax.faces.context.FacesContext
    Version 9.1 returns: file:/u01/software/Apps/SunAppServer9.1/lib/javaee.jar!/javax/faces/context/FacesContext.class
    Version 8.2 returns: file:/u01/software/Apps/SunAppServer8.2/domains/domain1/applications/j2ee-apps/TestApp/test_war/WEB-INF/lib/myfaces-api.jar!/javax/faces/context/FacesContext.class
    Hence 9.1 is still using the copy provided by SUN and not our copy.
    The code for find.jsp is:
    <%
        String className = request.getParameter("class");
        Class theClass;
        try
            theClass = Class.forName(className);
            java.net.URL url = theClass.getResource("/" + theClass.getName().replace('.', '/') + ".class");
            out.println(url.getFile());
        catch (ClassNotFoundException e)
            // TODO Auto-generated catch block
            out.println(e);
    %>-------------------------------------------------
    Any idea how to over-ride the FacesContext class in version 9.1 to allow for similar functionality as 8.X
    Thanks,
    ERIC GANDT
