Cannot load nvidia driver module [SOLVED]
OK so for some reason I can no longer load the nvidia (proprietary) driver.
I have a laptop with optimus, on board intel and discrete nvidia GTX680M. I use this laptop for cuda development so I don't care about games etc, I just need the driver loaded to debug and run my cuda apps. bbswitch still works fine as does bumblebee which I don't use normally but I do have it setup and running in case. Also I didn't really work much on coding last week so not sure exactly when this started.
So here is what happens when I try to insert the nvidia module or use optirun:

I'm not willing to give up and install/build the drivers from the cuda SDK just yet so any help would be greatly appreciated.

So in simple terms, the fix invovled ensuring the nvidia module is loaded before the bbswitch module. I'm not sure about the necessity of the things that follow but the fix may possibly also require removing bumblebee and possibly requires removing nvidia from repos and building the driver downloaded from nvidia.
This fix could be completely unrelated to the problems I was having with arch but I cannot verify the fix on arch specifically cos I installed every distro under the sun trying to get it all working and I got it to work on a non arch distro.
So... I'm not sure if I should really mark this a solved because I haven't/can't verify it on arch and technically the solution involved changing to another distro but in fact, I know it has absolutely nothing to do with arch since I saw the same behaviour on 3 other distros. If I have time, I will reinstall arch and verify but for the moment, I have a lot of work to catch up on now that I have a working nvidia driver I can actually use for dev
Anyway, what I think is going on is there is some bizarre issue with bbswitch that stops the nvidia driver from being found because on the current distro I have installed, if I have no bbswitch, no bumblebee and no nvidia modules loaded or services running etc. I can modprobe the nvidia driver and all works fine. I can then modprobe the bbswitch driver and that works too. IF I modprobe the bbswitch driver first and then modprobe the nvidia driver, I get this error that says the nvidia module cant be found. The location it prints is in some updates directory whcih is odd too because I installed from nvidia source and never installed updates at all and made sure that there were absolutely no repo nvidia drivers or updates etc.

I'm trying to use the new nvidia-beta drivers from AUR but the same error occurs with ordinary nvidia drivers and the nv drivers. Under xorg.conf I currently have 'nvidia' next to driver and I've also put nvidia in the modules section of rc.conf
when I try to modprobe nvidia is just outputs 'module nvidia not found'Ended up booting into gnome using the vesa driver (max resolution was 800x600) and downloading the new nvidia beta setup from the nvidia website then going back into terminal and running it. Just had to download make from pacman and it compiled a new nvidia kernel module for me it seems. All works well with the new driver now.

I am a beginner of using jdbc, i use the tomcat4.1.x, mysql3.23.54 and it's jdbc driver 2.0.14. I place the drive <in jar file> in tomcat/commons/lib and configure the server.xml, web.xml and some testing coding. But there are some error like the following:

<ResourceParams name="jdbc/ora" > But in your Java code, you've got this:
dataSource = (DataSource) ctx.lookup("jdbc/acdb"); When I've successfully set up a Web app data source, all three names had to agree. You either need to change your Java lookup name to "jdbc/ora" or change the web.xml and server.xml to "jdbc/acdb".

At the moment I'm trying to get an example working. The error message I get is:

My cents on a ClassNotFoundException which is rather self-explaining.
By the way, the mentioned driver class name is a very old driver. You shouldn't be using that anymore. Surf to the MySQL homepage and download the most recent Connector/J JDBC driver for your database version. Documentation is also available over there. -
[SOLVED] XOrg fails to load Nvidia driver on startup

I'm having a fairly strange issue where XOrg is failing to load my driver when I start up my laptop. I'm using kdm, but this is causing it to fail. However, doing a simple
$sudo systemctl restart kdm
works, and everything starts up fine. When kdm is in the failed state, I see this:

Which looks like it loads my nvidia driver, but then just decides not to use it for some reason... After I restart kdm, it seems to use the driver fine:

Last edited by straemer (2014-12-20 13:03:58)Hmmmm, that doesn't seem to be the issue. I have a nvidia geforce gtx 670mx. The nvidia website does link me to the 340xx driver for that card, but downgrading to that version still has the same issue. I suspect the issue is in Xorg, since it seems to load the module, but then decides it doesn't have a driver to run for some reason.

Do you have any idea of what should be done to fix it? I don't want to use NVIDIA driver from their site neither nouveau, I want to use the one from the repo. If you know how to solve it, instead of only pointing the solution, also tell why this is happening, it will help me and other people with the same problem too!

As it's mentioned, it may be a problem of ACPI.
About the lib32-nvidia-utils, I just installed because it's written in the wiki http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NVIDIA#Installing: "Note: On 64 bit systems, For 32-bit programs to take advantage of nvidia-utils you must also install the equivalent lib32 package (for example lib32-nvidia-utils)." -
[SOLVED] Cannot load the acerhdf module

I'm trying to load the acerhdf module that should control the fan-speed for my Acer 1810TZ. I'm following the README.txt and the ArchWiki but after have compiled and installed the module I'm not able to load it.

When installing the package let it overwrite any existing files as these will all be files that you have created by building it yourself. -
SOA WebLogic : Cannot load JDBC driver class
Hi, I'm new to this Oracle SOA World. Currently I'm trying to configure environment on my system. I found a very useful document to install all related SOA component to my system, the document name was 'Quick Start Guide for Oracle® SOA Suite 11gR1 (11.1.1.5.0)'. I did all the steps written in the document and have installed all the components successfully, component including Database, Jdevelper, WebLogic Server, RCU, SOA suite, service bus, all are installed successfully.
But when I'm trying to Configure Application Server (start -> Oracle SOA 11g-Home1), at one step 'Configure JDBC Component Schema' , here I'm getting this message

Hello, After upgrading to Windows 7 Ultimate, my drive quit working entirely. The description reads: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing". I've downloaded updates and don't know whether I should uninstall or what... please help

First, try the automated fixit from Microsoft on the link below.
Windows 7
Check if the drive is now working.
If the drive is not working, from the Start Menu, open the Control Panel and click on Device Manager. Click to open the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers. Right click on the first channel and select uninstall. Do not delete drivers if asked. When uninstalled repeat the process for each channel. Also if an ATA controller is listed, right click and uninstall this, again not deleting drivers if asked. Then open DVD/CD-ROM Drives. Right click the drive and select uninstall. Do not delete drivers if asked.
Reboot the PC and let Windows reinstall the devices. Check the drive again.
If it still isn't working, run the automated fixit from Microsoft on the link below again.

Next, from the Start Menu, open the Control Panel and click on Device Manager. Next click to open DVD/CD-ROM Drives. Right click the drive and select uninstall. Do not delete drivers if asked. When the device has uninstalled click on the 'Scan for Hardware Changes' icon ( usually just below Help on the toolbar ). Let windows reinstall the drive and see if it now works.

No display after nvidia driver install [SOLVED!]
Hi guys,
Just set up my first install of Arch and I'm loving it. Just I have one Problem; I installed the Nvidia drivers as per the wiki for my nvidia 6800gt, but after changing my driver from "nv" to "nvidia" I no longer get any visual feedback from x; "Sync out of range" is shown on my monitor.
When I try to run glxgears I get the following error:
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
glxgears: Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual.
The thing is, I load GLX and double buffer visual in my xorg.conf file.
I am using the 2.6.10 kernel on an Athlon 64, msi k8t neo board.

Could that be part of the problem? Are you using composite extension?

I have just purchased a Diskjet 3520 and cannot load a driver (basic or full)
My Lenovo is running Win7 (64) and can see the printer but try as I may I cannot get the driver to install. It is my laptop and I am the administrator but the error appears after failed driver down load, I have also tried via the use of the wizard. The message that I get is:
'Call to DriverPagageInstall returned error 5 for package'C:\Program File\HP\HP Deskjet 3520series\driverStore\Piipeline\hpvpl09.inf'A caller of DriverPackageInstall must be a member of the Administrators group to install a driver package.'
