Cannot obtain connection after 30 seconds. : java.sql.SQLException: Data So

Hi Guys,
I need some help, I've already set up my datasource. It was working when i had only 1 EJB module.
But when i added another ejb module to be loaded. I started having this kind of problem:

Can anyone help me with this pls? Im sure that my datasource exist, I could even test the connection in the admin console.
Daniel

Are you sure you have your datasource in place? You can test connection pools, but not datasources.

  • Error connecting to database - java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Net

    Hello friends,
I know this question has been asked in a lot of other threads; but my problem is quite unique and that's why I'm starting a new thread...
When I try to access an Oracle 10g database through a Servlet code using a JDBC thin driver (both Tomcat and the database are running on Solaris 9), I get the following error:
"Error connecting to database - java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection"
However, there is another application running on the same server using the same database server (only the actual databases being used differ) and it is able to access the database without any issues. Both of these are absolutely similar applications and I couldn't think of any reasons why one would work and the other wouldn't. I thought they might be conflicting each other and tried running only the problematic application. But even then, I get the same error.
I know this might not be too relevant but to provide you some more information on the environment, the applications are running on separate Tomcat instances on the same server and they are connected to an Apache web server through Mod jk.
Any help in solving this problem is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Yogaesh

    Yogaesh wrote:
The 'application' that works is also a Tomcat application... It's exactly same as the problematic application in terms of the configuration and stuff... As for the typo errors, I copied the config info and pasted it... So pretty much it should be the same. And to add an additional note, I'm able to connect to the database from my localhost... I mean if I run the problematic application from localhost (without Apache and directly hitting Tomcat) I'm able to access the screens...
The second part of that (localhost) usually isn't all that useful. You know it is a connection failure so that means the code is running and technically successfully (since connection failure is a legitimate runtime error.)
You know it isn't a firewall issue because it connects from another app in tomcat. So it must be a configuration issue.
So something like one of the following.
    1. It isn't the same (we already know this but this particular item means that it is not in fact exactly the same because you deliberately or accidently modified it.)
    2. It isn't pulling the right config. Maybe you aren't packaging it, maybe it is buffered on the server and it is using that rather than what you think it is.
    3. Java code is referring to the wrong name.
Do this, change the configuration so it points to a server that does not exist. Repack, redeploy. If the error is the same (no diff) then you know that it is not running the code that you think it is. If it does change then you know that it can only be 1.

Hi thanks....would you please make me a bit clear about your suggestions? Where should I move to see the "max packet size allowed to send to server in jdbc driver"? If I want to change this on server side or as one of JDBC connection property, which topic should I look for in Oracle doc...please let me know.

  • Java.sql.SQLException: Error accessing jdbc driver

    Hi,
We are using WebLogic Server 7.0 as Application Server.
We now create a connection pool named regPool and
    a Tx datasource named regDS.
When we get the connection from the datasource, exception occurred.

So I guess that why we can't use CMP for finding data. Here is the error when we call the finder.

According to the exception message, it looks
like the connection fail between WLS and Oracle 9.2.
Here is a scenario I think you should need to know.
    I change the table-name in the weblogic-cmp-rdbms-jar.xml
to a name that doesn't exist in the database.
Then, re-package the EJB, copy it to server and restart the server.
A exception occurred that says the table doesn't exist.
So, in this case, it looks like the datasource works and
    connection is fine.
    Any recommendation will be appreciated.

ps: i also have a small class that was used to test driver installation and it works just fine

You have to put the driver in the right place for your Servlet engine. You haven't done that yet. And your outside program does not show you otherwise.

I'm using Netbean 6.7.1, Tomcat 6.0.18, JDK 5.0. And I already tried to put the sqljdbc.jar to the lib folder of Tomcat or the JAVA_HOME\jre\lib\ext but no luck.
    Please give advice.

The issue is with your usage of the sql:setDataSource tag. You should either specify a driver and url attributes, or* a datasource attribute.
The datasource attribute follows the syntax: url[,[driver][,[user][,password]]] (ref Section 10.1.1 of the JSTL1.1 spec)
You were using the datasource attribute, but not including the driver within it.
So one of the following should work:
    <sql:setDataSource driver="com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver" url="jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://localhost:1433;databaseName=AdventureWorks;" user="sa" password="sa" var="dSource"/>or
    <sql:setDataSource dataSource="jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://localhost:1433;databaseName=AdventureWorks;,com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver,sa,sa" var="dSource"/>----------
As an aside your code example doesn't seem to match with the error message:
    In your code:
    <sql:setDataSource driver="jdbc:sqlserver://localhost:1433;databaseName=AdventureWorks;user=sa;password=sa" var="dSource"/>From the error message:
<sql:setDataSource driver="com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver" dataSource="jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://localhost:1433;databaseName=AdventureWorks;" user="sa" password="sa" var="dSource"/>These two are not the same. Not sure if that is caused by a forum bug, or you trying various things. But the fact they don't match doesn't help :-).
    cheers,

    Hi Sherbir,
    Qs...
    1)where to find those commons-dbcp-1.1.jar, commons-pool-1.1.jar, commons-collections.jar?!
Where should I put them under the tomcat again?! ${TOMCAT_DIR}\common\bin ?!
    2) I'm not doing conneciton poolings....I jsut wonder why I cant even CONNECT....>_<!
(it should be just a small problem....and I used to use tomcat 4...i really dont know why)
    3) Why do I still have to import those java.io.*?! um.....
ps. OK, everyone calls me xonxon...heh.
    THANKS X 1000
    Hi Xonxon,
    U have a funny username !! I'm sure it's not ur real
    name !!
Anyway, jokes apart, I went thru ur problem. I think u
r trying to implement Database Connection Pooling. And
    here's the solution to it.
First make sure u have the Following JARs :
    1) commons-dbcp-1.1.jar
    2) commons-pool-1.1.jar
    3) commons-collections.jar
Next, U have to add these JARs NOT UNDER
    ${TOMCAT_DIR}\common\bin ... rather under
$(TOMCAT_HOME)\common\lib. U don't need to put it in
    ${TOMCAT_DIR}\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\lib.
Ur server.xml is configured correctly, but in ur JSP,
u have to import the following classes...
    <%@ page import="java.io.*" %>
    <%@ page import="java.sql.*" %>
    <%@ page import="javax.naming.Context" %>
    <%@ page import="javax.naming.InitialContext" %>
    <%@ page import="javax.sql.DataSource" %>
    And u're done.
Hope this detail is enough to have u jumping
    around...!!
    Do keep me posted.
    Regards
    Sherbir

This indicates that none of your datasources have been able to successfully connect to the database.
Please check the connectivity to your database from the datasources.
Also, you can login into the console and check if the connections are good, by doing test connection on the datasource.

  • Java.sql.SQLException: No operations allowed after connection closed

    Hi all
I was trying the jakarta DBCP pool for managing my connections to Mysql(4.0.17-standard ). I let tomcat to manage the pool by specifying datasource in server.xml and web.xml. Everything works fine if there are only a few transactions. But when the number of queries increse, I get an exception like
java.sql.SQLException: No operations allowed after connection closed.
Connection was closed explicitly by the application at the following location:
    ** BEGIN NESTED EXCEPTION **
    java.lang.Throwable

......I then tried the Connecion Pool manually with DBCP to check it is a problm with tomcat or ont. Still the exception comes after a few transactions. I re-checked the code and I am closing all connections in finally block. I searched in net for a solution, but couldnt find any. Is that a problm with mysql? has anyone experienced it? Any help will be greatly appreciated
    thanks
    boolee

Odd that Throwable is the exception logged. What does your finally block actually look like? As an experiment, what happens if you execute the following line of hypothetical code in your 'finally' block?
    finally {
      System.out.println(conn.getClass().getName());
    }- Saish

    tx for your help,

It appears that you are using ConnectionFactoryName. First be sure to
set a ConnectionFactory2Name which will be a non-transactional (in terms
of global transaction) DataSource for sequence generation for which you
are seeing here. There are also some issues with JBoss's connection
pooling on certain dbs if you are still seeing the problem after this.
If so, try setting ConnectionURL, ConnectionPassword, etc explicitly
