Cannot Reinstall Java EE SDK 5

Ok, let me try to explain the situation and then hopefully some one will be able to help.
I installed the Java EE SDK 5 using the standard windows installer downloaded from Sun and everything worked fine. It added its bin directory to my users path and everything supposedly was working fine (I'm running XP, btw).
I then installed Eclipse Europa and when I went to start eclipse up it could not locate the JRE. I uninstalled eclipse and installed it again and it still could not find it. So I tried to reinstall Java EE SDK 5 and it informed me that if I did not uninstall the prior installation the installation might fail.
So, I deleted the Sun directory, thinking that that is what the installer meant by uninstall (obviously a mistake). I went to install the Java SDK again and this time the first message it gives me is that the installation is still there. However, I know it's not there so I say continue and then it prompts me next for whether or not I want to create the non-existent folder (inconsistent, as it just told me the folder was there, and now it nows that it's not), I say I do. However, then when the installer is done, nothing shows up in the newly created Sun folder but a few files that don't appear to do anything.
I did research online and found that there was supposedly an uninstall program in the folder that I had just trashed so I got a copy of that program from a cubicle mate of mine and placed it into the C:\Sun\SDK directory and ran it, only to discover that it could not be run because I didn't have JRE 1.5. So I installed Java SE SDK 5 into a custom folder and ran the uninstall program using the JRE that get's installed when you install that and then re-attempted to install Java EE SDK 5 into the standard location and the same exact error is happening where it tells me the install is already there, then tells me that the folder doesn't exist, then installs nothing when I'm past those two points.
Sorry, I know that was lengthy but I figure thorough is better than the alternative.
Any thoughts?
All I want to do is get Java EE SDK 5 installed so I can use Eclipse. If there is an easier way to do this then I'm open to that.
Thanks in advance!
Timmy V.

Last J2EE which worked with Windows 98 (with some manual workarounds!) was J2EE 1.3.1. You can still download it from here:
http://java.sun.com/j2ee/sdk_1.3/
For manual workarounds required to get this to run on Windows 98 you can check this:

  • Cannot reinstall java sdk 6 U 12

    Hi!
My disk filled up and the jdk got screwed. Files lost and stuff. So I tried to reinstall, but ended up in a loop.
Got a message saying that the software was already on my computer and asked if I wanted to reinstall. When I pressed yes it processed some then came back to the same question.
So I tried to remove the rest of the files, same result. Removed the control panels entries for the jdk, same result.
    Can someone help with this?
Should be a way to remove every trace of the previous installation and re install or force a clean install without wizards screwing it up.
ahh yes, platform is windows xp.

    Added platform

Solved it my self by getting a friend to mail me the files, then extracting them.
Semms to be an bug in the installer, so that if the files are gone from the disk it cannot reinstall or uninstall.

  • I cannot reinstall java after uninstalling due to issues with it.

Well, over the past few days, I have been unable to use anything to do with java. After asking around a bit, I was told I should reinstall java. So, I removed anything to do with Java, and then went to system update to re-download it.
    Now, the funny bit. (maybe)
After removing it, I checked for updates via system update, and, lo and behold, it wasn't listed as an update.
I am wondering, how do I re-download it, and without the issues it has been having?
    I run a 10.6.8, with a 2 GHz intel core 2 duo.
    Thanks.

  • I cannot  reinstall java

I've installed jdk - cannot remmember version..-.
And i found it doesn't work, so installed jre.
    It also doesn't work.
I opened "add/remove program", and search jdk and jre. but there is not.
So I delete jdk and jre folders. And I ran registry cleaner.
And I found javarar by googling, and tried to uninstall java and jdk.
After cleaning registry, I tried to inttall jre-6u10-windows-x64.
But I met "This software has already been installed on your computer. Would you like to reinstall it?".
I pressed "Yes". Then I met "Internal Error 2753. regutils.dll".
    How can I reinstall "jre-6u10-windows-x64"?

Go to start menu <- settings <- control panel then open up the java icon and under one of the tabs should be some text for what version you are using and theres a button for an upgrade.. Try clicking that button for the upgrade.

JCDK 2.2_01 for Windows: how to start java card development?

  • [RESOLVED] Cannot find a J2SE SDK installed at path: C:\java16

I have SQL Developer 3.0.04.34 in C:\apps\sqldeveloper\ and the 32-bit 1.6 JDK in C:\java16\. SQL Developer was working properly until this morning after I updated my JRE (C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\) from 1.5 to 1.6 and JDK (C:\java16\) from 1.6.something to 1.6.26. Now SQL Dev prompts me again for the path to java.exe, but when I specify C:\java16\bin\java.exe, it gives me the error shown in the thread title. The existing sqldeveloper.conf shows "SetJavaHome C:\java16". I found other threads that mention this error, but the problem is typically pointing to the JRE instead of JDK (C:\java16\ is the JDK in my case) or 32-bit vs. 64-bit (this is 32-bit JDK in XP x86). What else might cause the error? I'd rather not reinstall the SQL Developer package that includes the JDK since I already have the JDK elsewhere and it was working before.
EDIT: Never mind. Something must have gone wrong when I was updating the JRE and JDK. I reinstalled the JDK, and now SQL Developer starts.

When i start sqldeveloper.exe (there no exe with a 64 in the name) there ist a dialog that wants to know the path to the JRE.
I tried to chose the directory i placed the Java 7 JDK.
Tried the bin folder in that.
Tried the jre folder and the bin folder in jre.
Everytime i do this ther is the message "cannot find java se sdk installation".
Maybe i am doing it wrong.
    What i did:
    Downloaded jdk-7u45-windows-x64.exe from oracle.com
    Downloaded sqldeveloper-4.0.0.12.84-no-jre.zip from oracle.com
    Unzipped sqldeveloper-4.0.0.12.84-no-jre.zip to directory
    Opened jdk-7u45-windows-x64.exe with 7zip, there opened tools.zip, unzipped tools.zip to a directory
Started sqldeveloper.exe from software directory and tried to find the JRE... diddn't work
Maybe sqldeveloper.exe ist looking for 32 bit Java?
    Update:
    Downloaded jdk-7u45-windows-i586.exe from oracle.com
Opened jdk-7u45-windows-i586.exe, there opened tools.zip, unzipped tools.zip to a directory
Started sqldeveloper.exe from software directory and tried to find the JRE... diddn't work
Doesn't look like its working this way.
I would realy be very happy to have the new SQL Developer packaged with JAVA again - thats the sollution i am looking for.

  • Cannot find a J2SE SDK installed at path C:\Program Files\Java\jre6

    Hi,
I am trying to install the latest version of SQL Developer 3.0 on my brand new Windows7(64-bit) computer. I already installed the Java SDK6 (Update26). Unfortunatelly I am forcing some problems.
When I start the sqldeveloper.exe for installing - at the beginning when I browse and select the java.exe an error comes up:
Cannot find a J2SE SDK installed at path C:\Program Files\Java\jre6
    Why isn't it working?
Can you help me? Any ideas?
    Thanks a lot!

That's because you are trying to run SQLDeveloper with a JRE not a JDK.
Since you already installed a JDK you should have a folder labeled
    jdk1.6.0_26in your C:\Program Files\Java directory.
If you cant find the proper JDK in your system the 64 bit version for windows can be found here:
    http://download.oracle.com/otn-pub/java/jdk/6u26-b03/jdk-6u26-windows-x64.exe

  • Java ME SDK 3.0-"Cannot connect to device manager" on port 1299 error HELP!

    Hello,
I am running Vista 32 bit. I just downloaded the Java ME sdk 3.0. It installed "successfully". I just tried to launch it several times and it gets stuck in the error below. In summary, something about "Connection refused to host: localhost; DeviceManagerConnection error". Why am I getting that error? This is the first time I installed this.
I run netstat -an, and nothing shows that something is taking up my 1299 port. Also "ping localhost" returns ::1:. And my hosts file looks good. Windows Defender and Firewall are both off. Does anyone have had this issue in the past? If so, please kindly let me know how you resolved it. Thank you.

    Hi there,
I believe I am having the problem reported by the first person in this thread.
In fact, I installed NetBeans and ran a Java ME sample and it gave me the following error
Jad URL for OTA execution: http://localhost:8082/servlet/org.netbeans.modules.mobility.project.jam.JAMServlet/C%3A/Users/Afamefuna/Documents/NetBeansProjects/CurrencyConverter3/dist//CurrencyConverter3.jad

BUILD FAILED (total time: 26 seconds)
Of course, I went to the file but the stipulated line didn't make much sense. Eventually, I seperately installed Java(TM) ME Platform SDK 3.0, but when I doubled clicked on its icon to open it, the initial splashscreen showed up, but when the progress bar got to "+{color:#ff0000}starting modules....{color}+", it gave me a java.net.ConnectionException error.
When I went to the generated log file, amongst other things, it also contained the following snippet
    +Connecting to service:jmx:rmi:///jndi/*{color:#ff0000}rmi://localhost:1299/device-manager{color}< </strong>[  23398] ERROR - un.jme.toolkit.bootstrap.Batch - Problem calling start() on DeviceManagerConnection java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException+

    + at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:25)+
From the above I can only imagine there is a problem with the device manager set-up for SDK, but how can it be solved?
The device manager icon shows up in the windows toolbar, however, the "device manager" menu choice is greyed out.
This same problem was replicated in my friend's PC, so I am certain this has to do with low-grade packaging/programming from the vendor end.
Please how do I solve this problem? I am hoping that solving one problem, resolves the other.
    thanks

  • Java ME SDK 3.0 on Vista 64bit (JDK/JRE1.6U13 32-bit installed right before

I really would like to test the recently promoted release of Java ME SDK 3.0 on my Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit.
First I tried to install it using my previously installed JDK 1.6 64-bit. Installer failed to properly integrate with Vista's UAC. Then equipped with proper permissions installation succeeded. So I tried to start the app. Got a splash screen telling me to start modules. Next I saw a apparently neverending list of exceptions appearing once every 10 seconds. So I told my task manager to drop that process.
I tried to uninstall the application and had to see uninstaller failing due to not support 64-bit Windows. Great. Java=Portability???? And why didn't installer tell me about it?
Lacking opportunity to uninstall the ME SDK I decided to drop every update of JRE and my existing JDK, then ask regedit to drop any registry information on any sort of Java-related stuff. Next I dropped all left-over folders related to installations of Java or Java-bundled software. Completing this I got a fresh JDK/JRE 1.6 Update 13 32-bit and installed it to my computer without any trouble.
Next I decided to have another test of installing and running Java ME SDK 3.0 ... interesting: installer detected an existing installation (where from? all folders as well as lots of registry keys had been dropped before, even Windows' application manager didn't consider to have an existing installation anymore). The installer found new JDK installed before and finally succeeded to reinstall the app.
Well, I tried to start it after that expecting something tested and thus working now. Instead of that I got the same sequence of exceptions requiring me to ask Task Manager for help after two bothering minutes of cancelling exceptions on splash screen not showing any kind of progression anymore.
Here's my question (aside from: Who on earth started to falsely proclaim Java being platform-independent?):
How can I get rid of these problems and have that super-app running on my two and a half years old operating system?
    Any support is welcome!
    Thomas
(PS: I admit to have very bad view on Java as a technology due to stepping from trouble to trouble for years now and so I guess no one's ever able to convince me of the contrary, so please ignore any dismissive statement on it above. And yes I'd like to see this app running so I can start developing apps for mobile phones or at least test its capabilities in comparison to the competition.)
EDIT: A few months ago I was testing some ME SDK with success. I can't remember version or included IDE. Is there any (basic) difference in using "Java ME SDK 3.0" as currently promoted on SDN from using Netbeans 6.5 supporting Java ME as well?
Edited by: soletan on May 26, 2009 9:55 AM

Hi, I also used the 64 bit sdk with Java ME SDK 3.0 and I am now unable to unistall it. I tried the suggestion of editing the 2 Java files which as suggested allowed the program to work correctly however I was unable to uninstall the program. So I tried the other suggestion of removing the files and then reinstalling linking to the 32 bit SDK which again it works OK but I am unable to uninstall.
On trying to uninstall I get the error:

You may wish to remove from the PATH setting any earlier versions of a java sdk you had attempted to install.

Reply 1 of this thread suggests reinstalling Java and the response from the OP is that the reinstall resolved the issue.

If you installed an IDE with it's own JDK, you may want to look at Reply 2 here..

When I type the path: c:\j2sdk1.4.2_04\bin\javac

HelloWorldApp.javaThis simply means that the compiler can not find the file "HelloWorldApp.java" inside the directory from where you are attempting to compile the file.

"Error 1335. The cabinet file 'Data1.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package."

I had a previous version of java on here and decided to upgrade. I removed it in add remove programs and when I try to install, I get the message you see above. The only thing I can find online is to reinstall the OS. Can somebody out there help?

  • Java me sdk

i have installed netbeans 6.9 ,jdk1.6 and java me sdk 3.0,when i create new project in netbeans for java me,it give error java.lang.reflect.Invocationtargetexception.It cannot go further when i clicked finish button.

    Hi,
Did you upgrade from a previous version of NetBeans or ME SDK? You can try explicitly uninstalling both, and also deleting the NetBeans directory of the local user to clear up any leftovers. Then reinstall ME SDK 3.2 (the last version of the 3.x release), then NetBeans. Then following the ME SDK setup instructions to install the ME SDK plugins in NetBeans and activate them.
    Hope this helps. Best,

  • Cannot compile java file after ..

    i installed java sdk 1.4
    uninstalled java 1.2 & java 1.3.1
--after that i was not able to compile or run java file
    reinstalled java 1.3.1 and 1.2
--now able to run previously compiled java file
--cannot compile a new java file
    any help

It would be helpful if you would exactly tell us what error message you get instead of just saying "I can't compile or run anything anymore".
Things to think of: Did you add the bin directory of the JDK to your path? Is the classpath set correctly?

  • Java 2 SDK SE 1.4.2 - INSTALL ERROR ...... 1335 ....

    Hello,
I have tried to install Java 2 SDK SE 1.4.2 but get the following error during install:
Error 1335. The cabinet file 'Data1.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. The file is 42.7MB and is not something I want to re-download in a hurry.
Is there a work-around for this error. Have had a look but have found no other occurances of this problem.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Jon

Well, I'm not sure what to say. I've had problems much like that, except for Java 2 SDK 1.2.*. I got rid of my problems (which sometimes included "clean" installation but then broken parts, such as javac.exe) by updating and trying again. It wasn't very much fun, especially back in my dialup days.
