Cannot start NodeManager Remotly (Via SSH Commands)
Hi all,
we are going to start the node manager of one of the cluster servers via SSH command.
But it is not starting. We can start it directly by log in to that server and run startNodemanager.sh script.
What is the issue?
Thanks,
Nir
Hi are you able to start Node manager using following WLST Command :
startNodeManager(verbos='true',NodeManagerHome='$WL_HOME/common/nodemanager',ListenPort='<PortNo>',ListenAddress='<HostName')
And also can check NodeManager Log files for errors .

Cannot start managed server via WLST - 'Overriding the ListenPort ...'
Hello everyone
I've created a development domain that has two machine, each of them has two weblogic server instances. On machine-2, I've started NodeManager already.
I started WLST tool, connect to AdminServer and invoke 'start' command to start managed server on machine-2:
start('MS-02','Server','t3://dvc.danang.vn:7003')
but I get fail message like that
wls:/dnict_domain/serverConfig> start('MS-02','Server','t3://dvc.danang.vn:7003')
Overriding the ListenPort or ListenAddress is not supported.
WLST will use the ListenPort and ListenAddress that are configured on the ServerMBean

Cuong PhamTry removing the 't3://dvc.danang.vn:7003' argument. If this information is configured in the managed server, its unnecessary.
Also, is the NodeManager registered with the AdminServer? You can use the command "nmEnroll([domainDir], [nmHome])" while connected to the AdminServer to if its not. -
Can't send cntrl-alt-delete to start PC remotely via Mac
I am using Symantec PC Anywhere software and even when I try the Mac equivalent of cntl-alt-delete the PC I am trying to connect to doesn't recognize the command. (Once I am in, the connection works fine). Any suggestions? Is there a better program out there to connect to a PC remotely via Mac?
I am using Symantec PC Anywhere software
Are you running Windows on the Mac (via Boot Camp, or Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion) or is pcAnywhere CrossPlatform Remote (or something similar) used under Mac OS X?
the Mac equivalent of cntl-alt-delete
Just guessing here (I do not know whether the command in question will work at all when used via said remote control program). Would it be correct to assume that you have noticed the difference between the delete keys on a PC and a Mac (the delete key on a Mac is the same as backspace on a PC). You may want to have a look at this article (and perhaps this one).
Is there a better program out there to connect to a PC remotely via Mac?
When working under Mac OS X, could something like this (or maybe one of the programs here) possibly be of interest?

How to enable fast user switching remotely via SSH?
There is a Mac which at the moment doesn't allow fast user switching. I have admin account on this Mac. Currently, another user is logged in, so I can access the Mac only via SSH. I don't want to destroy the session of that user otherwise the user can loose important data.
Can I enable fast user switching by accessing the Mac via SSH?Try this:
defaults write /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences MultipleSessionEnabled -bool YES -
Certreq -submit run locally returns successful but run remote via invoke-command hangs
Good morning I have been struggling with a certificate request script.
The requesting server is in the dmz and I have a management server internally.
I successfully create the Inf file, as well as the req file then copy the req file to my internal management server. Once copied internal I attempt to run the following command from my laptop executing as my admin account
$Fqdn = "server.dmz.com"
$managementServer = "InternalServer"
$Path = "C$\Test\CertRequests"
Invoke-Command -ComputerName $Managementserver -ScriptBlock {param($CertificateAuthority,$FQDN,$Managementserver,$Path) certreq.exe -submit -attrib "CertificateTemplate:DVNOfflineComputer" -config "$CertificateAuthority" "\\$Managementserver\$Path\$FQDN.req" "\\$Managementserver\$Path\$FQDN.crt"} -ArgumentList $CertificateAuthority,$FQDN,$Managementserver,$Path
This exact command pasted into a powershell window locally on the management server returns the crt file.
Run via invoke-command just hangs forever. I even tried to the Silent=True in inf file as well as -q but neither worked.
Any help is greatly appreciated.Hi Jason,
I reform the script as below, and add the "test-path" to check if the .req and .crt files exist, please also note you haven't assign value to the "$CertificateAuthority" variable:
$Fqdn = "server.dmz.com"
$managementServer = "InternalServer"
$Path = "C$\Test\CertRequests"
$CertificateAuthority = "something"
$script={
param($CertificateAuthority,$FQDN,$Managementserver,$Path)
test-path "\\$Managementserver\$Path\$FQDN.req"
test-path "\\$Managementserver\$Path\$FQDN.crt"
certreq.exe -submit -attrib "CertificateTemplate:DVNOfflineComputer" -config $CertificateAuthority "\\$Managementserver\$Path\$FQDN.req" "\\$Managementserver\$Path\$FQDN.crt"
Invoke-Command -ComputerName $Managementserver -ScriptBlock $script -ArgumentList $CertificateAuthority,$FQDN,$Managementserver,$Path
If there is anything else regarding this issue, please feel free to post back.

Cannot start Windows installer via Boot Camp
Hi!
Recently I cannot start my Vista, so I decided to delete the partition, create a new partition, and reinstall a Vista.
When I clicked Start Install Windows in Boot Camp, the MacBook Pro restarted and showed a black screen (it should display "Windows is loading files..."). I waited for 10 minutes or so, but nothing changed.
I tried an XP CD from my friend, and the same thing happened.
I don't think the DVD went wrong, because I used that DVD to install Vista on my MBP one week ago
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! If the screen goes black and nothing seems to be happening then it sounds like the install process isn't even starting, which seems rather strange. You might try asking for help in the Boot Camp forum in case someone there has had the same problem.
You said you had several Vista and XP installation discs. Are they copies or authentic? Also, keep in mind that you need an OEM disc to install Windows in Boot Camp, you won't be able to install it from an upgrade disc. -
[Solved] Cannot start emacs through an ssh-forwarded x11 connection
Hi,
I recently installed Archlinux and am quite happy with it. Thanks to everyone who has apparently worked hard to make it so nice. There is one error that baffles me, however. I'm used to being able to start Emacs as 'root' through an ssh-forwarded x11 connection, but for some reason this doesn't work on Archlinux:
[simons@peti ~]$ ssh root@localhost
Last login: Sun Dec 14 17:50:28 2008 from localhost
[root@peti ~]# emacs
The program 'emacs' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied)'.
(Details: serial 15 error_code 10 request_code 152 minor_code 4)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
Starting other applications this way does works -- it's only Emacs that aborts outright --, but I do get similar error messages, i.e. from qgit:
X Error: BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied) 10
Extension: 152 (RANDR)
Minor opcode: 4 (RRSelectInput)
Resource id: 0x5c
X Error: BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied) 10
Major opcode: 2 (X_ChangeWindowAttributes)
Resource id: 0x5c
I'm not exactly an X11 expert; I have no idea how to debug this error. The syslog doesn't say anything about an invalid resourcess access, neither does /var/log/Xorg.0.log. In ~/.xsession-errors I see the following error, but I don't know what it means:
gnc.bin-Message: main: binreloc relocation support was disabled at configure time.
Does anyone have an idea how to explain this phenomenon? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Take care,
Peter
Last edited by peti (2008-12-14 20:01:27)This is what I call an easy solution. Thanks for the tip, pointone. I wasn't aware of the difference between x11 forwarding and trusted x11 forwarding. My old installation didn't seem to make that distinction. Maybe that feature was added to SSH somewhat recently. Anyway, the point is that, now, Emacs starts up fine.
Thanks,

Cannot Start J2EE Server via the MMC
Hello. We have recently installed the netweaver platform and stumbled upon a problem. We are utilizing the MMC to start the J2EE server. I have searched extensivly through the threads and have completed all of the suggestions. Including memory adjustments and security settings. When I right click on the service and hit start it changes from grey to yellow but then to grey again. Do you know where there is a log that I can view to see the error?
Best Regards,
PeteHi Peter,
Right click on the same service that you are trying to start and select developer trace.
This should give you a view on what may be causing the problem.

Remove a proxy setting via ssh or ARD?
Is it possible to delete a proxy config from the command line? I have looked at scutil, networksetup, ifconfig, ipconfig, systemsetup and scselet command, some of which will SHOW me a proxy config which is helpful, but I need to remove the proxy settings altogether.
Im going to be removing our proxy server this year (no more proxy), and will need to remove all proxy settings from all my Mac systems. Id like to script it somehow, or at least be able to do it remotely via ssh or ARD.I dont think it works in Leopard. For example, when I type the related command:
"sudo networksetup -getwebproxy Ethernet"
I get the following answer:
Enabled: No
Server:
Port: 0
Authenticated Proxy Enabled: 0
(even though the proxy is configured and working and can be tested. Thus, networksetup doesnt have a clue about the proxy server configs in the Network system prefs pane.)
The "scutil --proxy" command does show me my current proxy configurations (similar to what the Network pres pane shows), but the command doesnt allow me to disable or delete them. Example:
<dictionary> {
ExceptionsList : <array> {
0 : *.local
1 : 169.254/16
ProxyAutoConfigURLString : http://wpad/proxy.pac
FTPPassive : 1
ProxyAutoConfigEnable : 1
HTTPEnable : 0
(I get the same response regardless if I type
"networksetup -setwebproxystate "Ethernet" off"
or
"networksetup -setwebproxystate "Ethernet" on" -
Configure Screen Sharing via ssh
I have a couple of macs sitting at a remote location that currently has no people there. i need to get into the machines via VNC (have windows at my current location), to see something on the screen. unfortunately, last time i was in front of these machines, i turned on screen sharing, but did not enable the VNC password option. is there a way to configure that option remotely via ssh? I'd really hate to have to drive 2 hours to go hit a simple tick mark on a screen...
You can use the ARDAgent kickstart tool to set the password for VNC access. The command to do this is...
sudo /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/Resources/k ickstart -activate -configure -clientopts -setvnclegacy -vnclegacy yes -setvncpw -vncpw YOURPASSHERE -restart -agent -
Changing password remotely via passwd
I need to change my password remotely via ssh on a machine running Leopard. I know one can do this via the passwd command, but it used to be the case that it wouldn't also change the Keychain password.
Do you know if passwd has ever been updated so that it also updates the Keychain password?tgtrcg wrote:

I can not start a remote server via Node Manager
There is a workaround to this problem. The issue seems to be
that when the node manager tries to start the managed server
it can not find java.exe in the system path. So please go to
Control Panel->System->...->Environment, and modify your PATH
system environment variable to include the java bin directory
in it.
Then try using the node manager again to start the managed
servers and you should have no problems.
We are aware of the issue and working on having a fix for it.

Sorry, this is not a solution to your problem but i am trying to solve the same
problem for a week now.
I have wl7.0 sp2, 1 admin server, 2 managed servers on the same box. I get the
same error. I know that the default certificate installed provides a hostname
verification of weblogic.com. I turned the hostname verification off, i put in
the Dweblogic.nodemanager.sslHostNameVerificationEnabled=false, i get the same
error when starting the managed server. I went ahead and created my own certificate
for machine called mallik, created my own passphrase, created a new keystore,
made the admin server view the keystore, used the same certificate for both the
admin server and the node manager. It still fails with the same error. I went
ahead and added the machine 'mallik' to nodeManager.hosts file. It fails. I am
totally confused now what needs to be done.
My nodeManger.hosts looks like this:
mallik 10.100.10.130
managedServer1 10.100.10.130
managedServer2 10.100.10.13
