Cannot start server with DNS as listenaddress

Hi ,
I'm using weblogic server 10.0 MP1 on HP-UX 11-23.
I have one admin and one managed server set up in my domain. These servers are running on the same physical machine.
Both servers can be started when I configure an IP as listenaddress. However, when I configure a DNS , the servers cannot be started.
The DNS is defined in /etc/hosts
This is the message trying to start the admin server :
+<Critical> <WebLogicServer> <tcheflxg> <AdminServer> <main> <<WLS Kernel>> <1235579718538> <BEA-000386> <Server subsystem failed. Reason: java.lang.NullPointerException+

the server shuts down immediatly hereafter.
The embedded LDAP log files are empty ...
Any reply would be appreciated.

I set up the entire domain using the IP and afterwards changed the IP to the alias in config.xml and the start/stop scripts.
Is that the problem ?
PS:
Changing IP to alias in the replica's file did not solve the issue.

  • Problem with wrt54gl Cannot find server or DNS Error

    Hello,
I am having problem with wrt54gl roouter. I have windows 2K professional that connected trough the wire. The browser (and other tools) is periodically loosing connection for around 30-60 seconds showing "Cannot find server or DNS Error". after refreshes it comes back. If I connect PC directly to internet without router I never have a problem. I have put statical resolution of dns servers(3 of them) and ip does not help. I switch between ports on pc and router site, change the cable, remove antivirus, put latest windows updates, use different browsers. Disable anable 2d network card (2 on mother board).
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Hi… Login to the setup page of the router and reduce the MTU to 1365. Upgrade or re-flash the firmware if needed.

  • Forms/4GL Tutorial Returns Cannot find server or DNS Error

    Hi:
I am trying to plow through this tutorial (10.1.3.1.0) and when I run the SRList.jpsx page I receive the error: Cannot find server or DNS Error. The URL produced by JDeveloper is:
    http://192.168.99.36:8988/SRTutorialADFBC-UserInterface-context-root/faces/app/SRList.jspx.
    Any suggestions?
I've culled the forums and the Web, and cannot find a match. The only nugget that I can add is that I'm using JDeveloper with the OA Framework extension. I have been successful creating pages with OA Framework and executing them. Is there some incompatibility with OA Framework and ADF?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Mchrist,
You cannot use the OA Framework download to develop ADF apps.
I would create two batch/command files: in each one, set JDEV_USER_DIR and any other environment variables to point to a proper place and run the JDeveloper.
Just unzip JDev and OA Framework to separate locations and ensure that the user directory for each is in a separate location as well.

  • Intermittent "Cannot find server or dns error"

We are getting "Cannot find server or dns error" intermittently. It happens most frequently using internet explorer on https. Anyone else getting this or have any suggestions?
(I have logged as TAR 1525537.999)
    null

After many, many hours or research and corresponding with other
Oracle resources, we resolved the issue. We still receive the
"Cannot find server or DNS error" but with much, much less
    frequency.
    Here are the complete details:
    Environment:
    Windows NT 4.0 SP 6
    Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.2
    Oracle 9iAS Portal 3.0.9.8.0
    Oracle 8i Database 8.1.7.0.0
    Apache HTTP Server: 1.3.19 (win32)
    mod_ssl: 2.8.1
    OpenSSL: 0.9.5a
    SSL port: 443
    Problem:
We were running into the following error intermittently (but very
frequently) when accessing pages in the Oracle Portal application
    with SSL enabled:
"Cannot find server or DNS error" at the bottom of a "Page cannot
    be displayed" error page.
    Resolution:
7 Applied patchset for Oracle8i 8.1.7.1.1 (to database client and
    server)
7 Applied patchset for Oracle8i 8.1.7.1.5 (to database client and
    server)
7 Applied patchset for Oracle Portal 3.0.9.8.1
7 Implemented solution for Oracle Bug No. 1822053 (HTTP 404 Doing
Portal Development) by changing (and un-commenting) the following
line in our Apache http.conf file:
    From: #SetEnvIf User-Agent ".*MSIE.*" nokeepalive
    ssl-unclean-shutdown
    To: SetEnvIf User-Agent ".*MSIE.*" ssl-unclean-shutdown
7 Implemented solution for Oracle Bug No. 1821195 (When uploading
large file using modplsql & SSL error reading data from client)
by replacing the existing ApacheModuleSSL.dll file with the
patched file referenced in the bug details.
Note: Bug No. 1821195 is for Oracle9iAS 1.0.2.2. It references
    Bug No. 1773627 for Oracle9iAS 1.0.2.1.
I feel the biggest help was finding out about Bug No.
1821195/1773627. We were provided the bug details by a local
Oracle technical consultant, Dave McMarlin, referred to us by the
Oracle Joint Staff Account Manager. That solved our problem with
receiving the noted error message when we tried to add items to
the content area. Applying the change to the http.conf file
identified by Bug No. 1822053 (removing the nokeepalive entry) in
combination with the Oracle8i and Oracle Portal upgrade seems to
have solved our problems with the other intermittent occurrences
    of the noted error message.
According to the details for the ApacheModuleSSL.dll patch, there
was mention of a bug in the "select" function in Windows NT 4.0:
"When checking a socket, if data can be read without blocking,
select () returns yes, but when actually reading from the socket
with recv(), that function returns WSAEWOULDBLOCK, which says
that reading would block. It seems that this problem does not
occur in usual operation, but only in an SSL enabled Apache
(modssl or apache-ssl) with https. The code for WIN32, which
handles writing to a socket, already contains a workaround for
this. The code for reading from a socket did not have a
    workaround."

Thanks for the suggestion... the registry already has this setting... that does
    not seem to be it.
From looking closer at what is installed with the 1.3 JRE versus the 1.2 JRE packaged
with the 5.1 server... it seems to me that the issue has to do with support for
    the Hotspot VM.
The 1.3 JRE has a hotspot subdirectory under the bin, there is no classic subdirectory,
as is the case with the 1.2 JRE in the 5.1 package or even with a standard SDK
    1.3 installation.
Does 5.1 support the hotspot vm. How can I switch it to use the 'older' JVM instead?
If I copy the 'classic' jvm.dll from the sdk 1.3 installation into the bin\classic
directory of the 1.3 JRE, the server does start, but an error message indicating
that the javai.dll was not found still comes up. Followed by the following error:
Warning: JIT compiler "symcjit" not found. Will use interpreter.
The server startup output then comes up ... Please help, anyone?

  • Cannot start server, because cannot open .CMD file?

I am a new person to the web logic server. After I install it from the CD coming
with the book "j2ee applications and bea weblogc server", I found that I cannot
start the default server at all. When I click start->program->...->start default
server, there is always a dialog box asking me to find a proper file to pen the
"startWebLogic.cmd" file. I donot know why it seems that my windows 98 machine
    cannot open the .cmd file.
Could you please help me out of this problem? I searched throught this newsgroup,
but it seems taht nobody ever had a similar problem.
    Thank you very much!
    Joanne

A glance reveals that neither Windoze ME nor 98 is supported as a server platform,
and 98' is only supported as a client for version 4.5.1. No joy.
Speaking from experience, the worst part of working with a book like this is installation.
I have an 'Oracle 81 Starter Kit' book at home gathering dust because I simply
could not get it to install, not being an experienced Oracle DBA.
This one looks better thus far. I'm further along already than I ever got with
    the Oracle book.

It seems that node manager appends system PATH to the java.library.path of the server it is trying to start. The problem is spaces in the system PATH:

java expects another option after space.
How do I make nodemanager not to append system path to server's java.library.path?
Is there a way to make node manager start server nodes with java.library.path value in quotation marks?
P.S. I'm running node manager as windows service. I saw a post that solves this problem by starting node manager from command line but this solution is not sufficient.

Nothing is running on port 8080.

Accoding to your listener status, it is actively listening on behalf of host 'jantar', but NOT listening on behalf of host 'locahost'.
What happens when you "ping jantar"?
    Are you using DHCP?

  • Error starting Server with Clustering License

              Hello
I was using WebLogic Application server ver 6.0 evaluation copy
and everything was working fine. When I have updated the license
to use the clustering capabilities of Weblogice server , I was
not able to start the weblogic server and the server was throwing
              following exception.
              Throwable: weblogic.server.ServiceFailureException: Cluster service
              - with nestd exception:
              [java.net.SocketException: Unknown error]
              weblogic.server.ServiceFailureException: Cluster service - with
              nested exception:
              [java.net.SocketException: Unknown error]

              at weblogic.t3.srvr.T3Srvr.run(T3Srvr.java:170)
              at weblogic.Server.main(Server.java:35)
              '>
I haven't configured any cluster on my server.
Do I have to do anything beside running upgradeLicense command
using the new locense. Is there anything I am missing here.
              Thanks in Advance
              Sunil

Just to be clear, the WLS 6.0 software downloaded from the web site is
the full product and supports clustering, in-memory replication, etc.
The evaluation license packaged with the software does not provide keys
to enable these features. To evaluate these features, you need to
contact your BEA sales person to get a license to turn these features
              on.

  • Starting Server with SSL Enabled

I want to start iplanet directory server 5.1 with SSL Enabled, but It always ask me PIN Token.
    I write slapd-test-pin.txt file as following :
    slapd-test-pin.txt
    -------begin-----------
    Token:test123456
    -------end ------------
    I put the slapd-test-pin.txt into /usr/iplanet/server/alias
then, I restart directory server from command line.
    /usr/iplanet/servers/slapd-test/stop-slapd
    /usr/iplanet/servers/slapd-test/start-slapd
    What's wrong ?
    Thank you !!!!

I have a similar problem. I actually do set the correct format of certidcate db password file but the server stll does not start but reports the following:
    [26/Sep/2003:17:21:11 -0400] - Sun-ONE-Directory/5.2 B2003.143.0014 (32-bit) starting up
    [26/Sep/2003:17:21:11 -0400] - ERROR<12362> - Connection - conn=-1 op=-1 msgId=-1 - PR_Bind() on address <all interfaces> port <636> failed : error -5966 (Access Denied.).
I installed the certificate correctly. It was obtained from VeriSign with a ds 5.2 generated request.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Cannot start job with Management Console

    Hi,
The Management Console displays the status of batch jobs started with DI Designer, but when attempting to run a  batch job via the Management Console nothing happens.
The execute command displays "Job started successfully", but does nothing.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Meet

    Hi Meet,
Do execute the job again from Central Management Console and go to following path
    C:\ProgramData\SAP BusinessObjects\Data Services\log
Here in the log folder you will find those many number of folders with job server names as there are job servers in your server.
Go to the respective job server folder(which is used to run your particular job).
In this folder you can find, all the repository folders associated with that job server.
Go to the respective repository in which you have the job.
Here comes the best part.In this repository folder Data services created 6 files for every job execution, which are
    ERROR_DATE_NUMBER(.txt,and .idx)
    MONITOR_DATE_NUMBER(.txt and .idx)
    TRACE_DATE_NUMBER(.txt and .idx)
Open the trace.txt file which has been created recently.(check date and time after running your job).
Now this file will tell you whether the job has been executed, started and stopped due to some error or never executed.
    Case1:
If there's a trace.txt file then job had started
    Case2:
If it executed successfully then you will find the start and end time stamps in the trace.txt file.
    Case3:
If there's an error, open the recent error.txt file, you'll find the error log!!
Hope this will help you. Do update the status of your issue!!

    Mubashir Hussain

  • Cannot start server after manually editing config files

I tried to add a service to default .props, but any change causes the server to not start. If I edit an xml file, it complains about a missing tag; if its plain text, then it can't seem to set properties right. I don't even enter a carriage return.
I use vi to edit the files. Is there anything else I can use??

Sun Server 8.0 PE on Linux.
I added the httpjms value to the imq.service.activelist property in imq default.properties:
    imq.service.activelist=jms,admin,httpjms
And that causes the server to not start with this error in server.log
MQ startup failed :[C4003]: Error occurred on connection creation [127.0.0.1:7676]. - cause: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused
