Canon driver/OS 10.9.2

Is the current Canon Pixma MX870 driver compatible with OS 10.9.2?

If your printer is not working correctly, download and install the v10.9 driver for your model printer >   Canon U.S.A. : Support & Drivers : PIXMA MX870

  • Can print to shared Canon iP4300 via Bonjour - but not with Canon driver

I've searched the forums and therefore know roughly what the problem is, but still need some concrete info please...
Have finally managed to share my Canon iP4300 connected to iMac (10.5.2) via USB and print to it from XP, using Bonjour for Windows. However... when I run the printer assisntent it finds the printer but only offers me the choice of a generic driver. The driver turns out to be labelled "HP Color LaserJet 4550 PS". A postscript driver?!? Well, it works, but I'd really prefer the proper Canon driver (which is already installed - I previously had the printer connected to the PC).
Yet, when I select this driver retrospectively (from the printer-share properties dialogue), I cant print. This, if I understand correctly is because the Canon driver doesn't support Bonjour?
So is there anything I can do? Eg. I've read about the Gimp drivers, but they're only for OSX right?
Maybe this generic "HP" driver will be adequate (haven't printed anything properly yet) but would like to know if anybody has suggestions other than contacting Canon (which I will do anyway).
    Cheers

I Have the same Problem as you,
I Have the Canon MP180, and i have the driver on my windows XP Laptop
But when i try to connect to it, using Bonjour (as the printer is connected to the mac) it uses a HP Color LaserJet 4550 PS driver even though its Canon
Does anyone know how to use the proper driver.
It works ok using the HP Driver, but the quality of the printouts from the windows XP laptop seem rubbish
    Many Thanks
    Alex
P.S if you got this working, can you send me a message back.

  • I did the canon driver update but now my printer no longer works

As part of Software Update, my Canon inject printer driver was updated to Version 3.0.  The printer had worked under Maverick but after the update, it said it wasn't online. I did all the various "solutions" such as resetting the printer, so now I when I try to add the printer back, no printers are "seen" even when directly attached via USB.  I downloaded and reinstalled the Lion Canon Driver but nothing works. I have a Canon MP530.
    I'm on a 2011 27-inch iMac running 10.9.3.

Had a similar situation and this is what I ended up doing:
1 - go to the HD/Library/Printers folder and select the Canon folder
2 - enter Time Machine and go back in time to before you ran the Canon printer driver update.
3 - select the Canon folder and restore.
That got my Canon printer working again for me.

  • I have reinstalled with Canons driver kit 2005b för Windows 7 64 bit. All works fine until the scann

    Hi!
After Windows update in april 2014 I cant any longer use the scanning funktion via network from Canon MF8330 Cdn multifunktion printer/fax/scanner machine! It worked fine Before the april Windows update installation.
I have reinstalled with Canons driver kit 2005b för Windows 7 64 bit. All works fine until the scanner installation ends, then system report that it cannot install the scanner and I have to try installing again. I have done that now several times but it helps not. I Think it has something to do with that the Canon scanner drivers isn´t 64 bit files, or the problem is that windows update has replaces saome dll file to a never version that not work with Canon drivers.
I have seen that there is a service pack 1 from Canon för Windows 8 and 8,1, can I use that service pack to get a never dll file for scanner or work this only for windows 8 version.
Have someone a solution to this! I have contacted the Canon support already and they say that its a Microsoft problem!
Very thanful for help in this case!
    Greetings
    Sixten
    Hi!
I am installing the drivers from Canons site. It is the newest version 2005b for Windows 7 64 bit to MF8330Cdn Canon multifunction printer/fax/scanner. Installation goes well for the printer and fax but not for scanner drivers. The error message is Could not install the scanner. In device manager is there then a unknown device under Image devices. In Device Manager I try to update drivers, but it does not help either, error message is access denied. I am logged on the system with administrator account, therfore it is strange that I get the error message access denied.
I tried earlier to do system restore back to previous time, but it did not work, error was that the system could not do the system restore because of access rights.
is there anything else I could do.
Here is the MF36SCN.inf file for scanner installation from Canon, if it can help You to go further with the problem. Is there something strange in the inf file that does not work in Windows 7 64 bit Windows, something shows that ther is also same 32 bits parts in the inf file.
    Greetings
    Sixten

How I fixed it, at least for now:
    1. I've been using OC Genie for a few days, it has been working great on Windows but I guess it was causing many games to crash to the desktop so I decided to turn it off, since then the memory issue started to happen, since this morning.
    2. I can only think of my computer got OC Genie addicted, like addiction to crack or cocaine, and the memory, or call it nervous system, wanted more OC Genie, so it gave it to him and bingo, my 4GB readable, but then I used of trickery and deceit to disable OC Genie again and my 4GB is back again without OC Genie.
    Hope this helps someone.

I'm replying to myself from two years ago, and to the rest of you, regarding Error 88.  (My question of April 2012 is in the Photoshop department of Adobe Community.  For those who don't know but are reading this anyway for some reason, Error 88 is a message from the Canon Printer Driver that tells you you haven't set the paper size correctly for printing on fine-art paper.  But it may appear anyway, even if your settings are correct.)
At the time I found no resolution to the problem, just a workaround: to print from Lightroom itself. Too bad this was after months of hassle and expense, including a probably fraudulent (and certainly useless) repair (supposedly replacing the Pixma's logic board and paper sensor), and the ministrations of a techie who could only conclude there was something wrong with my copy of Photoshop which provoked the Error 88. But he made me realise I could print from Lightroom, and that's what I've been doing ever since.  (The possibility had never occurred to me, as my routine of printing from Photoshop was working fine.)  This has been a good move after all, since Lightroom offers many advantages over PS where printing is concerned:  tonal controls and more in Develop, and the possibility of creating a Saved Print.
But to print from Lightroom, I had to crop my printing files to the image. (In PS I had always created a document the same size as the paper I planned to use – A4 or A3+ – and positioned the image where I wanted, with margins all around. But in Lightroom I set margins and position in Print Mode, starting with a borderless file.) This was a bit of work, but unavoidable, and a good thing on the whole. So for a couple of years I printed in this way.
But meanwhile, my 2009 iMac was developing other problems, and finally I had to replace it. (After only two or three years of use, it was shutting down spontaneously, a problem no one was able to resolve, about which every techie has a different opinion, and about which Apple is completely mute and unresponsive; thank you Apple Computer for your supposedly ultra-reliable products – I can only say it’s a good thing you don’t make pacemakers).
So for about ten weeks now I have a nice shiny new 2013 iMac, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Also I have the new OS Mavericks, new versions of Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 5, the new Canon Driver. I have my complaints about the OS (particularly a few interface/viewing design choices that strike me as colossally stupid and unnecessary), but that's beside the point here.
Having not yet printed with the new setup (nor for a few months before), and knowing that it's good to use your Pixma now and then, I thought I'd dedicate a few hours to printing. I figured it could work out easy, since I planned to print from Saved Prints. But as soon as I hooked it all up, checked my settings, and clicked Print, I see the printer icon bouncing in the Dock with its little yellow trouble flag. I check that out and am very dismayed to see my old nemesis, Error 88, which tells me I haven't set the paper size correctly. But it's correct, of course. (As before, I'm printing on fine art paper, A3+.) Beg your pardon, Canon now calls it "Support Code 88", thinking of all the Support you'll get from them.
I tried a few of the obvious things: start/restart computer, printer, Lightroom, etc., but to no avail. Also, supposing that my Saved Prints were perhaps no longer valid in the new LR, I tried to print directly from the file, bypassing the Saved Print, but no go.
I should also note that, in Page Setup, the Default paper size “Super B/A3” (330x483mm) was new to me – seems to me you could set “A3+ Art Margins”. A3+ as I know it from the fine-art papers I use is 329x483mm anyway (also as given in Page Setup), if that makes any difference.
If it's any use, here are some particulars on the current situation:
    iMac 27”, late 2013, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB, Mac OSX 10.9.2
    Lightroom 5.3 (Camera RAW 8.3)
    Photoshop CS6 (version 13.0 x64)
    Canon PrinterDriver_Pro9500 series_108420 (10.84.2.0)
And my settings:  LR Page Setup: set “Art A3+ (Margin 35)”System Prefs/Printers & Scanners – set Default paper size “Super B/A3” (330x483mm) (found via “Format For:” in Page Setup)LR Print Settings:
Printer: Canon Pro9500 series (exclamation point – not recognized?)
    Presets: Last Used Settings
    Color Matching: Canon
Paper Handling: All Pages – Automatic – NO “Scale to fit paper size” (but “Destination Paper Size, though grayed out, reads “Suggested Paper: Art A3+ (Margin 35”)
Quality & Media: Media Type: Fine Art “Photo Rag” (or “FA Museum Etching” or “FA Matte”); Paper Source: Front Tray; Print Quality: High; YES Grayscale Printing
    Color Options:
Color Mode: Standard; C-M-Y and Tone all left at zero
Brightness: Normal; Intensity and Contrast both left at zero
It all looks kosher to me.  Does anybody know anything about this problem? I'll be very grateful.

  • Wireless printer problem w new canon driver

I have a Canon Pixma MP980 connected that I access through wireless connections fro two computers. It worked fine until the recent Canon driver update. Now every time I try to print a dialogue box pops up asking if I want to allow incoming connections. It goes away after a few seconds. If I do not move fast and click yes, printing fails because communications between the printer and driver are cut off - at least coming back from the printer. If I do click yes, then it works fine.
I have seen the "allow incoming connections" dialogue when using new programs for the first time, but once I click yes or no, it does not ask again and works appropriately. With the Canon diver, I am asked every time I try to print.
In the security>firewall  preferences printer sharing and all Canon entries are set to allow incoming connections.
The computer that does not have the "updated" driver continues to work fine.
Is there a cure or a way to undo the driver update that Software Update just installed? Reinstalling the driver that came with the printer is a real pain that I would like to avoid.

    Canon Pixma MX868 Scanning Issues
Interesting, I am using Canon MX868 printer with Driver 10.67.1.0 (latest driver from canon for OSX 10.8.2) and have the same problem.  When I initially installed software all worked fine but when I activated the firewall and removed the “Canon IJ Network Scanner” from startup (login) services I started getting the error message
I am not convinced that removing exceptions from firewall will make problem go away (as they are needed for firewall to work and will be added back in by default next time you allow permission). Nb Pahu was not using apple firewall
Anyway here is what I did to cause and then resolve the problem
I updated the driver and software to use Canon MR Navigator Ex 2.1 scanning software.  I prefer the canon software as I can scan from printer by pressing buttons with more advanced scanning PDF JPG features (than basic bonjour scaner which creates big files and is clunky to use).
After reviewing above, I removed exceptions from firewall (see below).  However every time I restarted the computer or restarted the Canon MR Navigator Ex 2.1 scanning software I still got the "allow incoming connections" window and scanner would not work until I allowed this.
Here are the changes I made to Firewall Settings (the firewall options is under System Preferences / Security & Privacy you will need to press unlock button and use admin password to show firewall options):
    -   block all incoming connections - not ticked
    -  automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections (ticked)
    - enable stealth mode - unchecked
    - I kept then removed all canon utilitiy permissions in firewall (nb if you remove but then "allow incoming connection" the exception  will reappear in the firewall exceptions), also if you remove other apps exception permission eg iphoto you will need to add permission back in)
After I had done above and restarted a few times to test (unsuccessfully) I tried adding the Canon IJ Network Scanner app back into the login items (login items under system preferences/ User & Groups). When I restarted it asked for permission once more and from then on the Canon IJ Network Scanner loaded and allowed full scanning from computer and from printer buttons
To add the Canon IJ Network Scanner app to login items, press “+” button then browse to the following file under the Main Library of  Mac HD:   /Library/Printers/Canon/IJScanner/Utilities.  Nb the main library has  full range of apps where as the User Library (located under your User profile /Users/[USERNAME]/Library) does not have the “Canon IJ Network Scanner app” (this confused me for a while)
Another way to resolve the problem was to turn the firewall off (but I prefer it on)
After several restarts with Canon IJ Network Scanner running in login items with out problem, I rechecked enable stealth mode and selected “allow applications downloaded from” “,mac store and identified developers” (under General Tab). The scanner and network tool still worked fine with no error messages

Might have a hardware issue that was caused by the minor liquid spill.
Take it to Apple to have them look at it.  I think they do a free diagnostics.  That way you can find out what's wrong with your MB.
Good luck....Hope you get it sorted out.

  • How do I install a Canon driver?

Hi, I'm new to Mac and I just bought a MacBook Pro with Tiger installed and with the Leopard upgrade disc included. I have a Canon MF4120 connected via USB, downloaded a Canon UFR II Printer Driver v1.50 for Macintosh and it appears in my Downloads folder as o734enx.sit file.
How do I install it? When I try through preferences menu, thid file is greyed and can't be choosen.
    Thanks for any help!

The .sit is a stuffit archive. You can get a free version of Stuffit Expander, which will unpack this file.

  • Disabling color management in canon driver

    Hello
Can anyone tell me how to disable Color Management in the Printer Driver Dialogue Box for Canon (ip4000) printer?
Other AI CS4 users must have needed to do this, in accordance with the instructions in the Color management print window when printing in AICS4, as otherwise the colors just dont work when printing.
As most AI users will know the guidance says "Let Illustrator determine colors", and "dont forget to disable color management in printer driver dialogue box". How do you do that then?
I have no idea how to find the Canon printer driver dialogue box, and Canon did not seem to know what I was talking about when I phoned them - they said contact Apple or Adobe.
    Grateful for any any advice.

I don't think it is stupid at all. Even home or small office printers nowadays have the capacity to turn their own colour management on and off. That does not necessarily result in implementing custom profiles though. It is just saying "don't try and match the colours by yourself" basically (although probably a bit more sophisticated in the driver's kitchen).
As for doing it on a Canon printer (make sure you follow the next steps with Illustrator closed so it can apply to all pictures you will print) :
    - Open the Printing Preferences control panel of your printer,
    - In the Color/Intensity section, select "Manual" and click on "Set...",
    - Check that all colour adjustment sliders are at 0,
    - Go to the "Matching" tab,
    - In the "Color correction" drop box menu, select "None",
    - Close all dialog boxes and you're done.
It has made a huge difference on my prints with a Canon ip3600 printer. They were way too reddish before, now they are as close as they can be to what I want - provided I don't have nor need any calibration hardware to make highly precise colour calibration end to end.

  • Word crashes when I try to save after installing the Canon driver.

I have Windows Vista running Microsoft Office 2007.  Word was working just fine until I installed the Canon MX432 driver. Now every time I try to save a document, Word crashes.  I have tried to repair Office.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Office program.  I have closed the Canon solutions menu on the desktop.  Nothing works.  Any suggestions?

I love these stab in the dark solutions (on my part)...here goes...
If I were you, I'd try changing the printer default to something other than the MX432 just in case Word doesn't like the new printer.  If that solves the crashing problem, try to  reinstall the driver again before setting the printer default to the MX432.  Are you sure you've got the driver that is compatible with Vista?  Vista is finicky when it comes to drivers.
If that doesn't work at all, I'd do a driver uninstall then a system restore to before the install.  This will put everything back to when it was hunky dory, as they say.  G'luck.

  • IP6700D Canon driver install fails w/ "non INTEL" message

Howdy.. I have a brand new, out of box L305D-S5938 Satellite system.
I need to install the printer driver on this system, however, the install "fails" claiming this is not an "Intel x86 platform".. that is correct as this is an AMD system.
Any hints on how to resolve this install?
The file from Canon is ip6700dvst200ej
    Peace...

    Satellite L305D-S5938
    ..the 64 bit driver
Absolutely! According to the specs above, you have a 64-bit version of Windows.
The good news is that you have access to the whole 4 GB of memory.
The bad news is that you'll run across occasional programs that won't run. In particular, no DOS or 16-bit Windows programs are supported.

  • Canon driver for PIXMA MP870 PRINTER?

  • Managing Color with LR and the Canon Pixma Pro 9000 10.1.2.0 printer driver

I would like help understanding how to manage color in LIghtroom with the Canon Pro 9000 10.1.2.0 printer driver. When I ask LR to manage color in the Printing Module Color Management Profile, it warns me to turn off the printer managing color. But I cannot find where to do this in the driver.
The Color Options menu in the driver gives an additional choice for "Color Mode", but there are no choices here except "Standard", "Linear" or "Tone". The only Canon documentation I can find shows a choice to turn off printer management here, but this driver doesn't give me that choice.
If I look in the driver's "Color Matching", I see only two choices: ColorSync or Vendor Matching. ColorSync brings up Canon profiles like "Pro9000 Fine Art Photo Rag", but selecting one of these gives a warning of unexpected results. This pushes me back to Vendor Matching. But is this turning off the printer driver and leaving it to Lightroom?
Right now, I am getting the best results from choosing "Managed by Printer" in LR's Color Management Profile, and setting "Color Matching" in the Canon driver to "Vendor Matching". If I instead choose one of the Canon profiles in LR's Color Management Profile (and it tells me to turn off the printer managing, which I cannot do), then my prints have a slightly bluer color cast.
Is there a way to turn off the printer managing color in this driver and turn this over to LR, or am I getting the best results possible with the printer managing color anyway?
I am using a 2.4 GHz Intel iMac with OS 10.5.4, 2 gigs SDRAM, standard ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro video card. I downloaded the Canon printer driver from their website, so I assume this is the latest. there is another driver available at their website, but for a lower bit depth. Should I abandon the 10.1.2.0 for this other one? I work with Nikon D300 NEFs, and I assumed the higher bit depth printer driver will work better with these images.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Dear DYP: Unfortunately, those choices are not available in the 10.1.2.0 Canon Printer driver. There are only 2 radio buttons, ColorSync and Vendor Matching. ColorSync then provides a drop-down menu, with no choice for turning off the printer driver.
But I think I found the answer. I found a deeply buried FAQ on the Canon site (no direct URL; sorry!) Here it says:
"Issue: How do I disable the printer driver color correction when using the CUPS driver in Mac OS X 10.5.x?
Solution: Change color management options for printing (Mac OS X 10.5.x)
Change color management options for printing
Open the document you wish to print.
Click 'File' and then click 'Print.'
Note: If the Print window contains only two pop-up menus, click the triangle beside the Printer pop-up menu for expanded options.
Select 'Color Matching' from the Print Options pop-up menu.
Select 'ColorSync' if you want the application you are using, and not the printer driver, to control the color management of the printed output.
Note: If you are using Adobe Photoshop CS2 or CS3 and have selected 'Let Photoshop Determine Colors', the 'Color Matching' from the Print Options pop-up menu is automatically set to 'ColorSync.'
Select 'Vendor Matching' if you want the printer driver to control the color management of the printed output."
I tried it, and chose "Automatic" as a choice in ColorSync. The choices under "Color Options" are then greyed out, implying that the Canon driver is now turned off.
The prints came out great, with no color cast, and a little brighter than the printer managed prints.
So, Vendor Managed means printer manages, ColorSync means LR manages.
Thanks, everyone, for keeping me going on tracking this down!

  • Need printer driver for Canon imageclass D320

Anyone direct me to a printer Driver for the Canon Imageless 320?
    Canon support says none available.
    Macbook pro under Yosemite.
    thanks

Canon never made an OS X version of its proprietary driver "CARPS" that is used by the D320. And the Canon driver link provided above is just for Canon inkjets - there is no support for your model.
If you want to print to the D320 from the Mac, you would need to install a virtual machine application like VMware's Fusion and then load Windows 7 into the VM.

  • Cannot find the installed driver for Canon Pixma ip6600D

    Hello,
I'm pretty new with Mac and OS X and got one problem to use a previous installed driver.
First, please excuse my bad english, I'll do my very best
I've got a Buffalo Linkstation Live 320GB with implemented USB Ports.
You can take the USB Port to use with a printer.
The Linkstation will be a Windows Printserver.
I've connected a Canon Pixma ip6600D at USB Port one and all works fine with Windows XP and Vista via network.
Printing with this Network device uses Windows Network-printing like -> workgroup\buffalo\lp (lan printer)
With Windows this works very well. But now im using OS X Leopard.
So I've downloaded the Canon Mac OS X 10.5 Driver for the ip6600D (can be used for Network printing) and installed it.
OS X wants to reboot, so I think the extension is installed fine.
After this im going to "System adjustments" -> "Printers and Fax" -> "Windows" -> "Workgroup" -> "buffalo" -> "lp"
The Printer is found and here comes my problem: The ip6600D driver does not appear in the drop down list. Only Gutenprint ip6700.
I'm able to print with this driver, but it doesn't work very well and im not able to use CD printing.
So, wehere ist the ip6600D driver? Lost in nowhere?
If I want to search for the driver, nothing could be found.
Searching with Spotlight for ip6600 doesn't find something to use.
Only the installer image of the driver and some web links.
How do I choose the installed ip6600D driver?
Thank you much for any help.

Since there doesn't appear to be an iP6600 driver within the Gutenprint v5.1.3 list, then you could try one of the other iP models, like the iP5200. The key is to find a model that uses the same ink tanks as your iP6600D (and preferably the same engine but that is not as easy to find). If one of the other IP models doesn't help, then you could try the S800. With older versions of Gutenprint I would recommend this model as it would be good enough for text printing, but not that good for images.
If you are unable to find a compatible printer then you may have to look at changing some things. The Canon printer driver has not been designed to be used on the Mac OS X when the printer is being shared by Windows, hence the need to Gutenprint. If this model is not supported in later versions of Gutenprint, then you could look at using PrintFab (which you will have to pay for) or changing the network setup so that the printer is not connected to Windows, such as getting an Airport Express/Extreme. This would allow both OS's to connect to the printer using the Canon driver. Or you could connect the printer to the Mac and get Windows to connect to the Mac share using Bonjour for Windows.
