Cant create smooth angled lines

im needing to create a fairly simple graphic of a plain rectangle with an arrow on one side. the rectangle looks fine, 1 pixel border, but the arrow looks badly jagged in all browsers.
ive tried 2 lines angled, the arrow shape and a triangle, slightly squashed but all have the same problem.
settings are 1-pixel soft border and edge: anti-alias
this must be possible to get the angled lines as sharp and clear as the rectangle appears...
how would i do it ?

Is this a little better? If you're going for a triangle, the aliasing to the monitor pixel grid is really difficult to avoid. Here's what I did:
Imported your posted image and scaled up by 400%
Created a rectangle
For the triangular piece,
Added guidelines, where the distances between guidelines are divisible by four (othewise, the reduction won't alias properly)
Drew a triangle with the pen tool, using the intersections of the guide lines to get correct placement
Selected the triangle and rectangle and combined them with Modify>Combine Paths>Union
I duplicated this shape, setting the lower to fill, no stroke and the upper to stroke, no fillThe stroke is a 4-pixel Soft Line, with Stroke Options... set to Inside Path (centering the stroke on the path puts the math off by a few pixels)
Exported to a flattened .png
Imported the flattened .png and scaled down to 25%
When you're trying this scheme with geometric pieces, it's important to create the objects with dimensions that are integral multiples of the scaling factors you want to use and to place them at locations that are evenly divisible by the scaling factor . (In this case, 4.)

A copy and paste procedure might help here, but Apple's Clipboard only holds one item at a time, which is limiting. Copy something else and your previous item is gone. One way to overcome that limitation is with a utility called CopyPaste available from scriptsoftware.com. CopyPaste offers a hundred or more clipboards. I use it to store either text or objects that I use over and over. The palette collapses and a small icon floats above all else. Just stick it in a convenient place and it will open when you mouse over it. You could create your arrow once, copy it to Copy Paste, and paste it in where ever you need it. It won't be erased from the clipboard when you copy something else and it will be remembered when you shut down or restart. You can create, name, and organize multiple clipboards to file items you constantly reuse.
To be able to move your arrows arround, be sure to click outside the layout area before pasting.

Create smooth selections in PS from PAPER drawings ,convert to "smooth paths" then paste to AI

Brief title for your desired feature:
selections converted to paths in PS, or AI.
How would you like the feature to work?
If you draw with hard edged brush or pen in PS and paste to AI , the trace tool in Ai works very well, for swirls, cartooning, hand drawn perspective illustrations etc,
but if you draw on paper and take a photo, which I do with a camera connected to the pc because it saves a small file size jpeg automatically into bridge, 250kb average,
and open it in PS, to do a magic wand selection of the lines, then refine edge to smooth and tighten it up. It looks great at this point,
Then paste this selection of pixels to Ai for tracing to get crisp vector edges from the selected pixel outline,
or convert the selection to paths first, then paste the paths into Ai,
in both scenarios the resulting trace outline has many jaggy edges, even if pasted into PS as paths, since the paths created in PS from the smoothly made selection still capture any diagonal pixelated edge even if the image is 300ppi and results in showing all the jaggies.
I have tried all the trace settings and variables in AI, from simple through to photoreal.Even if you expand these traced results and use the pathfinder shapemode / unite it still creates crinkle edges. Which results in an hour plus of work redrawing the whole thing.might aswell just use the pen tool to start with.
Trying to use the path/simplify tool is not useful as it smooths out all your shapes and changes the contours of the path too much regardless of angle threshold or curve precision, and the smooth function on the pencil tool changes the paths too much too when trying to smooth out the "jaggies" lines.
I`ve tried creating a "shape" out of the path in PS but its also jaggy as it just replicates the path already made.
tracing with the freeform pen tool in ps is faster than pen but creates uncontrolled edges.
** I was hoping there could be a setting to convert the selection to a vector path minus the jaggies or crinkles that occur on round or diagonal parts of the selection.

allows me to freehand sketch on paper, create a selection in PS, convert to path, and paste that vector path into AI , problem is its a jaggy path,

I smoothed and tightened the edges in "refine edge" in PS below. It looks to create a nice contour,
however converting to paths gets in very close and still picks up jaggies, due to the pixel build of imagery.
the result after refine edge dialogue below, I fill with green to copy paste this selection to AI, could also have pasted the channel but chose this, does same result anyway
in Ai below, regardless of trace type, it produces either uneven edges that dont match the pixel contours or if I make a 6 or 16 colour trace or photoreal it creates many jaggied bumpy edges, as I said earlier if I unite it all with path finder I still have to redo all the contours with pencil, the path/simplify command ruins the outlines shapes and corner points. MIght as well just start with pen tool in this case, the long but sure route.
However I`m hoping Adobe can create a formula for this purpose, to get that smooth selection to be a smooth path instead of jaggy bumpy. not sure if I`m making any sense here... is this understood?

the formula could be written to connect the inside corners of the selection steps with a smooth vector line on concave turns (if your viewing the selection from outside the shape, like a "dip" or valley, and the vector line would change to connect the outside of each step corner on convex turns (mounds or lumps, "hills") viewed from outside the selected shape. Then this result smoothed to create smooth transition for the vector line.
Like a very tight fit smooth moving average on a stock chart, but perfectly fit to the data as there is no time lag. perhaps look at wavelets, but respecting mitres, I`m not a maths person or programmer but have seen some things that made me consider these,

How do you smooth out lines in Photoshop CS5

I have some black and white line art drawings. The lines are not smooth and sharp, and instead have tiny jagged edges. I tried using the smudge tool, and that does smooth out the lines but it also makes the lines a little sloppy. That's probably how the Smudge Tool got its name. Is there a way to use this incredible software to create smooth lines? I've learned how to create paths, but I can't figure out how to use the paths to change the line art. Maybe this is what I'm looking for?

If I understand your question correctly then the answer is yes.
You can create an arbitrary path whose shape, open or closed, can remain editable throughout your session and it can be duplicated if needed. That path can then be stroked with a pixel painting or editing tool. Lets say you create a new layer and stroke a path with a colored brush. You can then add a style to that layer, move that same path and add a different stroke on a second layer and then duplicate the path, move it and edit its shape and then do yet another stroke and style on a third layer. This is what I've done in the image below showing the stroke & styled paths as well as the vector path in the bottom path.
Once a path has been stroked to a layer and has had a layer style applied it is only editable as pixels, but the shape remains as a path which can re restroked or moved or reshaped so flexibility is high.

How to create diagonal variable line pattern in CS6?

Hi guys
I'm on the brink of insanity with creating my diagonal line pattern. I've tried everything I can think of but the pattern is an absolute mess! I want to create a diagonal line pattern but I want the lines not to be uniform. Basically I've made a group of 3 lines and then one separate line on its own, then to repeat this as the picture below. I've used the distribute function so the distances between the lines is identical everywhere. I've then rotated the whole thing exactly 45 degrees and aligned the lines to fit the bounding box in the "make pattern" mode as shown. Yet the resulting pattern is just a mess of overlap ugliness. All I want is for the pattern to literally look as it does in the image on the left, can someone please tell me how to sucessfully do this in CS6?? Would be eternally grateful!!

Never create a line pattern at an angle. It's unnecessary.
Create the pattern at 90° angles then use Object > Transform > Rotate and tick the "Transform Patterns" option and enter the angle you are after....
Trying to get angled lines to match in a pattern can take considerable effort. Where as with this method you can create the pattern and rotate it in a matter of minutes. Let Illustrator work for you rather than against you. And, you can rotate to any angle so the pattern will function in multiple ways.

How to save LIST_LINE_ID of Price List when create Sales Order Line

I dont know how save the LIST_LINE_ID of the Price List on Sales Order or anywhere when create Sales Order Line.
I create with the following steps:
Step 1: Create Price List for Item A with two line: Line 1 (Unit Price = 10,5, Pricing Attribute with Tax Classification Code = 5%), Line 2 (Unit Price = 11, Pricing Attribute with Tax Classification Code = 10%)
Step 2: I create Sales Order Line with Item A, Tax Classification Code = 5% --> Unit Selling Price = List Price = 10,5 but dont bookorder
Step 3: I update the Unit Price of Line 1 into 11.55.
Step4 : I book this Sales Order. Howerver, I use form personalization to customize Book Event: if the Unit Price of Item on Price List > Unit Selling Price then cant not Book. But I dont konw List Price of Sales Order belong the line of Price List.
Please help me check this issue. Thanks for your supports.

Bob's right - except that if you have OM: List Price Override Privilege set to 'Unlimited' (and from your scenario it sounds as if you have) it is possible that the value in unit_list_price will vary from what was originally retrieved from the price list.
In that case, a safer bet is to use :LINE.original_list_price in your personalization as this will always contain what was originally retrieved and will mean you can avoid any repeat lookup via list_line_id.

MRP create more Schedule Lines than target quantity

We already follow the OSS note 83343, we create a Schedule agreeement and validity date is the same as the Source List and Quota arrangement, also the Target Quanity is the same in the quota arrangement in the maximun quantity and Maximun release qty fields.
After maintaining that data, we run the MRP as follow:
Processing key          NETCH               Net change for total horizon
Create purchase req.    2                   Purchase requisitions in opening period
Delivery schedules      3                   Schedule lines
Create MRP list         1                   MRP list
Planning mode           1                   Adapt planning data (normal mode)
Scheduling              1                   Basic dates will be determined for plann
After that, still in teh schedule agreement was created more schedule lines that the quantoty is bigger that the target quantity in the sched Agreement.
What else we miss??

FM to create subcontracting delivery lines

Hi Folks,
We are using one custom function module to create subcontracting delivery lines. Inside this custom FM, we are using ME_COMPONENTS_MAINTAIN function module first to maintain the components and then ME_UPDATE_SCHEDULES_DISPO to create delivery lines for the schedule agreement. Actually the ME_COMPONENTS_MAINTAIN is displaying a screen where you have to maintain the material, wquantit etc. manually. But we dont want that. We need to create subcontracting delivery lines without manual intervention. Is there any FM available for this requorement? Or else can I use ME_UPDATE_SCHEDULES_DISPO directly to create subcontracting delivery lines? I know this query is more functional than technical. Kindly provide your inputs.

I've not completely tested this yet, but whilst investigating a similar problem, I came across the above thread. ME_COMPONENTS_MAINTAIN has a paramater "I_FCALL" which if you set to 'X' doesn't call the screens, and just runs in background.
You can also see the variable population by putting a breakpoint in the top of this fm, and then running the frontend transaction.

How to create a muli line text area using JavaFx

Hi all,
Since the preview SDK does not contain TextArea any more, I am wondering how to create a muli line text area using JavaFX. The behaviour of this text area/field should be somehow similar to JTextArea in Swing or StyledTextWidget in SWT.
Does JavaFX have any support for this? What would be a sensible approach to create such a widget?

This is a pretty old thread (I know I came across this while searching for something similar recently), but I figured I'd throw this out there in case other people might find this useful. As I write this, JavaFX's latest version is 1.3... which may have added the needed functionality since the last post.
You can now create a multi-line text area using a TextBox and by specifying the nubmer of lines and setting the "multiline" value to true. It may not offer all of the same functionality as JTextArea, but it did the job for what I needed... newlines by pressing enter, scrollbar if text surpasses height, etc.
Here's a simple example:

Creating a new line in PLSQL

I am trying to create a new line by returning a variable from a function by coding the following which worked for the last version of HTML_DB and understood that after my variable named vlname I wanted a new line
msg := 'NAME: ' || vlname ||' ';
When passing back the value of msg now in Application express. This exact code I repeat worked for the last version of HTML_DB.
I don't know why but the new version thinks it's literal
and is displaying the name and then actually prints .
Does anyone have a ny suggestions ?

I just did the following:
Created this function:
create function br_test
return varchar2

return ' qwerty qwerty ';
end;Created a blank page with a html region. I then created an an item of type Display as Text (does not save state). Item Source type = PL/SQL expression or function and Source value or expression = br_test.
When I run this qwerty is shown twice on seperate lines. What is different in you case?
