Try double tapping the screen with three fingers to get to normal.  Then go to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn off Voice Over.  You can also tur it off by coneecting the iPod to its syncing computer and ging to the Summary pane for the Device in iTunes.  Click on Configure Universal Access and turn off Voice Over.
