  • I cant re-start sql server (2008 developer) on win 7 workstation after enabling tcpIP -- been running fine for a year

    I had successfully installed sql server 2008 Developer edition on a win7 pro workstation about a year ago.  I has been running fine for the last year (locally and running .Net 4.5 framework).  All services (RS, Analysis) running fine.
    Then today someone decided to enable tcpIP and went to services to restart the server on my workstation but it would not restart. I ran repair from the sql server installation center x64 - still nothing - the server wont restart. But Analysis server and Reporting
    services work fine -- these services can restart fine ... Just not the main server. I'm also running Sql Server express. that runs OK too. But I need my sql server 2008 Developer to run. I looked at the system event viewer -- it said this:
    The SQL Server (SQLDEVELOPER) service terminated with service-specific error The specified module could not be found..
    I went to Control panel ... services and looked at the properties for Sql Server Developer -- the path was listed as:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.SQLDEVELOPER\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe" -sSQLDEVELOPER
    Everything in windows explorer appears to be in order.  How can I restart the server?  Do I need to uninstall it and then reinstall it?  Any suggestions appreciated.
    I rebooted the entire workstation a few times already also, but still server won't restart.  What to do?

    There were several Error Logs (for today) since I tried restart several times.  They appear to say the same thing:

  • I Cant Connect To Sql Server 2008

    where can I downlaod SQL Server version 10.50.1600.1?!!

    Hi,
    According to your description, the error is caused by that you are applying SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack2 on the SQL Server 2008 Express. In Windows 8.1, you need to apply
    SQL Server 2008 SP3-Express Edition. If you choose to download and install SQL
    Server 2008 R2 Express, whose version number is 10.50.1600.1, you need to apply
    SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2-Express Edition. In addition, as
    Kalman’s post, if you choose to download and install
    SQL Server 2014 express in your Windows 8.1, certainly, you can choose the "SQLEXPRADV_x86_ENU.exe" installation file, and no Service Pack will be needed.

  • Cant see SQL Server tab on the New/Select Database Connection

    Hi All,
    I cant see the SQL Server tab in the new database connection window. I have added the SQL Server jdbc driver using the Tools->Preferences->Third Party JDBC Driver, but all I can see are the the Oracle and the Access tabs.
    I am using version 1.5.4.
    Any pointers is highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Anish.

    Hi,
    I have SQL Developer Version 1.5.4 Build MAIN-5940.
    I downloaded JTDS from SQL Developer Migration page and unzipped.
    I added the driver in SQL Developer through tool/perference/database/third party vendor
    I still cannot see SQL Server tab.
    What else do I need to do to see the tab?
    Thanks.

  • Save a Copy of package as with SQL server 2012

    Hello,I want to save a copy of my package on sql server.
    I use this procedure : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms137565(v=sql.110).aspx
    But the dialog box is not the "Save Copy of Package" with package location, but it's the dialog box to save on the disk.
    I can't save on sql server.
    Can you help me ?

    Hi olivier,
    When we click “Save Copy of <package file> As” on the File menu in Project Deployment Model, we can only save the package on the disk.
    Please note that the procedures in the article is about Package Deployment Model. So if we want to save a copy of package to SQL Server, we should change the Model first, then refer the steps in the article.
    To convert the Model from Project Deployment Model to Package Deployment Model, please right-click the project to select “Convert to Package Deployment Model” option in the Solution Explorer. If a package uses features unique to the project
    deployment model, such as parameters, then the package cannot be converted. So please avoid use features unique to the project deployment model.
    The following screenshot is for your reference:

  • SQL Server sysadmin rights error

    Greetings,
    I am trying to install SCCM using a remote SQL configuration, and cannot get past this “SQL Server sysadmin rights” error. When I run the Prerequisite Checker, I put in the SQL server, since I am trying to connect to the SQL default instance, I am typing
    in the server name only, and I put in LOCALHOST for the SDK server.
    After reading another post that this error is not always accurate, I ran the install option and got as far as the following error.
    Server environment is using the following: SCCM 2007 SP2 on Windows 2008 R2 SP1; SQL 2005 SP3 on Windows 2008 R2 SP1
    I am sure the SQL server is configured accurately, I have done this before and use the following links when preparing the SQL server.
    How to Install Configuration Manager Using a Remote SQL Server
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb693554.aspx
    Appendix B: Configure Remote SQL for WSUS
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd939912%28WS.10%29.aspx
    I have already added the machine account of the SCCM server to the local Administrators group of the remote SQL server as described in the first link above. The user account I am using for the install also has the
    sysadmin SQL server role assigned.
    Another test that I did to verify the remote SQL server configuration and my user account sysadmin rights, I ran the Prerequisite Checker from another Windows 2008 server in the domain.
    As you can see from the screen shot above, this means something is messed up on my SCCM server and not the SQL server. The following error is from the ConfigMgrPrereq.log.

    I know there are plenty of options for verbose logging after installation, but does anyone know if there is a way to do this with the SCCM Prerequisite Checker, before installation? I checked the setup.exe command line switches and there was no option for
    this.
    Any other suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks.

    Yes, my user account is a member of Domain Admins, Enterprise Admins, and Schema Admins. The SQL Server service is running using a service account, and I have also registered the SPN. Below are copies of the log files.

  • How to store/display images with SQL Server 2000

    Hi everybody, I'm totally new to ColdFusion, and creating a
    sample project, where a user would enter in a person's info and
    upload a picture of that person. I trying to get my app to save
    that image to SQL Server database and then to display that pic.
    Currently, it "seems" that I'm able to save to SQL server (my table
    saves user info but all values in my photo column says
    <binary>-I don't know if that is correct), but I can't seem
    to get image and display it on my cf page. I have pasted portions
    of my code below.
    I've been hammering away at this but no luck, so Any comments
    are very well appreciated, example code would be great!
    Thank you so much,
    noijet
    # 1.) I have a 'User Info Entry' page that submits to page
    #2:
    <cfform...>
    <input name="fileToUpload" id="fileToUpload" type="file"
    size="64"/>
    </cfform>
    # 2.) This page does the actual saving, this doesn't output
    any errors but am I saving the image to SQL server correctly? I
    have no idea really how to save images to database, so please
    advise or possibly provide example code. Afterwards, it goes to
    page #3 to display confirmation page that data has been saved.
    <cfif isDefined("Form.fileToUpload") and Form.fileToUpload
    neq "">
    <cfset uploadPath =
    GetDirectoryFromPath(GetBaseTemplatePath()) & "uploads\">
    <cfif not DirectoryExists(uploadPath)>

    </cfif>
    <cffile action="upload" fileField="fileToUpload"
    destination="#uploadPath#" nameConflict="overwrite">

    "No">
    #3.) This confirmation page displays last user entered and a
    picture of the user. The user info retrieved from SQL server is
    displaying correctly but the picture is not displaying(just a small
    red 'x' box). The image calls another getPersonPhoto.cfm file to
    display image.
    <cfquery name="lastPerson" datasource="HRP">

    Thank you for your assistance and cooperation.
    <img src="getPersonPhoto.cfm?id=71" border="0" width="128"
    height="180">
    </cfoutput>
    #4.) This is .cfm file that only displays image of person
    <cfsetting enablecfoutputonly="Yes">
    <cfsetting showdebugoutput="No">
    <cfquery name="getBlob" datasource="HRP">
    SELECT TOP 1 photo FROM Persons WHERE id = 71

    <cfcontent type="image/jpeg; charset=iso-8859-1">
    <cfoutput>#tostring(tobinary(getBlob.photo))#</cfoutput>
    Note: In my ColdFusion admin, I checked "Enable ... BLOB's"
    and set Blob Buffer to 20000

    Regarding doing the actual saving, here are some other things
    to consider:
    * a max on the image's file size
    * check if it really is an image
    * don't use nameconflict="overwrite". consider
    nameconflict="MAKEUNIQUE"
    * delete uploaded image on file system after insert into db
    Also, on the cfm page that returns an image, try putting the
    cfcontent tag and the cfoutput tag on one line.
    <cfheader name="Content-Type" value="image/jpeg">
    <cfcontent
    type="image/jpeg"><cfoutput>#getBlob.photo#</cfoutput>
    Good luck!

    Hello!!!
    I am required to work with my IT collegues and allow the MSSQL server to insert records into oracle. But I am having problem from the sql server end while trying to insert a record by throwing the following error message:

    OLE DB provider 'MSDAORA' reported an error.
    [OLE/DB provider returned message: Oracle client and networking components were not found. These components are supplied by Oracle Corporation and are part of the Oracle Version 7.3.3 or later client software installation.
    _*The following were my configurations that I did in order to create a linked server and testing with a querty*_
    1. Installed Oracle Client 10g in the sqlserver.
    2. Configured TNSNAMES alias
    ------->  I can perform tnsping <alias name>
    ------->  I can even from the sql server machine through command prompt connect to my Oracle database server via "sqlplus scott/tiger@orcl" ( the problem is I cant connect via SQL server studio)
    3. I executed the following script inorder to create a linked server and perform a query.
    EXEC sp_addlinkedserver
    'orcl',          -- Name of the linked Server
    'Oracle',          -- Product name of the linked server (optional)
    'MSDAORA',     -- Is the name of the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle

    Hi!
    I was able to sought out the problem, and I have done a very silly mistake.
    I had my MSSQL server database at SERVERA and had the connection to the SERVERA from SERVERB, i.e. SERVERB dont have the database MSSQL database but just a connection to the MSSQL server database.
    What I have done is, since we had the testing done from SERVERB, I had the Oracle Client installed on SERVERB (this is the problem). We have to have the Oracle Client installed in the SERVERA where the MSSQL database is residing. Just wanted to point out here, so that this might be helpful incase anyone encounters the same problem in the future.
    Guys, the problem that I m facing now despite the fact that I can perform Select, Insert queries from MSSQL to Oracle now is, that I am recieving the following error when certain transaction is issued. There error message is:
    Server: Msg 7391, Level 16, State 1, Procedure tgTest, Line 5. The operation could not be performed because the OLE DB provider 'MSDAORA' was unable to begin a distributed transaction.Any help with this regard will be greatly appreciated!!!
    Regards...

  • Please ... tell me how to download and instale the setup for the SQL Server Express 2012

    My OS is 32-bit and i have already downloaded the SQL Server 2012 Express but i cant find the SQL Server Management studio  so please tell me how can i get it?

    Hello Muhammad,
    if you already install SQL server, to run the Managment Studio you can click Start and Run, and type "SSMS".
    Of course you can create a shortcut and look for the file (this is the installation location you selected during the installation process) using the Windows search (pressing F3 activates the search).

  • Cant create connection Pool for MS SQL Server 2000 with Microsoft Driver

    i am using bea weblogic server 6.1, i cant create connection pool while using MS
    SQL Server 2000. i have installed JDBC Driver SAP1 from microsoft website. when
    i give the following class name for JDBC driver and the connection url and click
    apply while selecting the available server, a number of exception appears in default
    server (that is the connection pool cannot be created..... cannot load the driver
    class).
    URL= jdbc:Microsoft:sqlserver://127.0.0.1:1433;DatabaseName=MyDB
    Driver= com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    when i use the above setting in a JDBC simple application in Jbuilder
    7.0 the application runs successfully and fetches the data deom MS SQL database
    but in at Bea connection Pool is not created with these settings. i do give appropriate
    username and password in properties field in connection pool. Thankx for any help!

    2000 Driver for JDBC\lib\mssqlserver.jar;I suggest moving or copying the three ms driver jars to a directory that has no blanks
    in it so the classpath doesn't have blanks in it. Ie:
    go to the "D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC\lib"
    directory and do this:
    mkdir D:\microsoft_jdbc_driver
    cp *.jar D:\microsoft_jdbc_driver
    Then make the classpath include D:\microsoft_jdbc_driver\msbase.jar etc.

  • I Cant find Sql Server 2014 express edition after installing it. How do I start the program

    Hello,
               I have Installed Sql Server 2014 Express edition and downloaded the AdventureWorks 2014 database and Back up files.
    I cannot find an Icon for the Sql Server on my Desktop to start the Sql program. There is only an icon for the Server Installation Center.
    How do I start the Sql server. I tried opening the AdventureWorks Database but I cant open it.
    Thank you

    Thanks Shanky
    When I installed Sql I chose Windows Login. After Installing I logged into Sql server using windows account. Should I have chosen an Sql account instead.
    Hi,
    Its is Ok if you have chosen windows Login. But it should be part of local administrator. I assume you know how to check
    Is it not a security risk having to run Sql server as an administrator when using windows account or sql account.
    Yes it is but at this point where I guess only you would be using and to get around with problem which you are facing. its recommended to run SQL server service with least privileged domain account. If you wan to read more see
    this link
    How do I make sure the account with which SQL Server service is running has full permission on folder where adventure works mdf and ldf files are located.
    Please make a habit to search on net it is filled with lot of information.
    This link would help.
    Locate the folder on drive where AD mdf and ldf file reside. Right click on folder select properties and then select security tab. Click on add and then type account name and search and add it

  • SQL Server database save error

    I am encountering an issue every few days or so whereby, for some reason, my metadata database LDF log file is growing to a very large size (> 5GB in size). This could be due to specific settings for my database, however I don’t believe I’m doing anything
    unusual so it’s probably worth recording.
    When the LDF grows to a large size, I start to see the following I/O error messages in the windows event viewer for the SQL database service:
    2014-08-28 16:18:25:
    SQL Server has encountered 1 occurrence(s) of I/O requests taking longer than 15 seconds to complete on file [C:\SCM\Databases\PPGallium_Metadata_New4_log.ldf] in database [PPGallium_Metadata_New4] (7).  The OS file handle is 0x0000000000000A64.
    The offset of the latest long I/O is: 0x000000fe4f3200
    This is followed by further follow-on errors in saving data to the database (from Gallium database service log for same time):

    Has anyone experienced any issues like this?
    Thanks
    Ian

    Hi Ian,
    According to your description, the error message indicates SQL Server I/O bottlenecks. The SQL Server I/O bottleneck can be caused by many reasons, for example, there is firmware issue or misconfiguration issue in I/O subsystem , or some other process on
    your system is saturating the disks with I/O requests.
    To troubleshoot this issue, I recommend the following steps.
    1. Exclude SQL Server files from antivirus scan.
    2. Do not place SQL Server FILES on compressed drives.
    3. Distribute SQL Server data files and transaction log files across drives.
    4. Collect perfmon counters to get more information about I/O operation.
    For more details, please review this blog:
    I/O requests taking longer than 15 seconds to complete on file.
    Thanks,
    Lydia Zhang

  • SQL Server 2012 save SSIS package in MSDB

    I am trying to save my package in MSDB database from SQL Server Data Tools 2012 (used to be called BIDS as you know). However, when I go to File --> Save mypackage.dtsx As, it only allows me to save it as File System, not in a SQL Server MSDB database!
    Is there a setting that I need to re-adjust? Thanks for your tip.

    Olaf, thank you for that clarification and curing my headache.
    Unfortunately the documentation from MS is very confusing and options for 2008 are intertwined with 2012. For example when looking at
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms137731.aspx one starts reading about SSISDB, but the topics underneath that are mistitled and talks about backwards compatibility and MSDB deployment.
    The heading in the menu is titled "Manage the Integration Services Service" yet the title of the article is "Manage the Legacy Integration Services Service". The sections under
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb522537.aspx have (SSIS) in the title, but the one i mentioned above is referred to as (SSIS Service). This threw me for a loop of confusion and
    a half.

  • How to save stored proc in sql server

    Hi i creaed stored procedure in sql server and executed but i am unable to save that on server database,when i click on save it is saving on desktop what can i do to save in server

    I  hvae been able to access the Stored Procedure using the <CFQuery> tag.
    e.g.
    <cfquery>
    execute my_storedProc
    </cfquery>
    Anything between those tags are T-SQL.  Any code that works on the server side, should work in here too.
    It acts like a T-SQL batch file.
